Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler. I have read numerous books by this author and I can honestly say that I have loved them all!!! This book was absolutely no different. Alex had something terrible happen to her and because of that, her fiancé left her. Just as she is starting to gain some of her self confidence back, due to her kickboxing instructor, Cater, the fiance Todd comes back into the picture. The comfort and safety that she feels with Carter is unlike anything she has ever felt with Todd. Both men want her, but who would want a broken woman with an unattainable body. Who will be able to gain her trust, heart and body?

Unbreak this heart by Betty Shreffler a five-star read that will break you. This isn’t my first read by this author, but it is my favourite, this author has a way with dealing with powerful and uncomfortable circumstances and making them compelling reading. Be warned you will need a box of tissues with this read, but they are worth it. The characters in this story are powerful and once you start to hear their voices as you read you won’t be able to put it down. Alex’s story is one that will stay with you, the way she fights her demons will give you courage and I think we all need a little Jane in all of our lives.

Fragmentized. That is how I felt so much throughout this novel. Betty Shreffler ripped my heart to pieces, the tiniest of pieces, and then she would just be ready to place the last few back in place, and *snap* there they go again. Shreffler has some amazing skills as a writer to be able to do this over and over, with ease and perfection, flawlessly, and yet she ties it all up in a neat and complete package in just under 400 pages. I must say this makes my top twenty reads of 2018, and she has become a new auto one-click author for me.
Alex, wow I just still am unsure where to start with her. I want to give her character justice without giving away anything to ruin her story for you. I will say she suffers a horrific trauma. One I can relate to, and sadly thousands can. Don’t worry, Betty Shreffler does this with care and compassion, very obviously keeping the statistics in mind. I know that feeling of never feeling like you will ever be able to recover, or feel safe again. Feeling unlovable, used. So much more. But honestly, Alex is a survivor. She is a fighter just as much as the actual MMA fighter in the novel, Carter. It is an emotional journey and I truly felt blessed to have read it.
It is on this journey to heal that she joins a self-defense class and meets the ever handsome Carter. She is hesitant for obvious reasons but that you will have to find out in the book. As the work together though the chemistry between them grow and her confidence builds. Eventually things start to blossom between the two and there may be something building on the horizon for these two in the future. Unfortunately, the past will come to pay a visit and decide that it wants another chance at Alex. What will Alex do? How will Carter react? Where will things go from here?
I absolutely adored this novel, and I can’t wait to pick up another Betty Shreffler novel! In fact that is what I am off to do as soon as I finish this review up. Thank you so much for all the feels and a great novel Ms. Shreffler!

I was pulled right in by Alex and her story. She is trying to move forward from a life changing attack that happened over a year ago. She lost so much including her fiance.
My despair and fear have become a black hole from which I can’t escape. I fear the dark. I fear sleep. I fear what comes to me every night.
When her best friend gets her kickboxing lessons she meets Carter. He stirs things up in her she hasn’t felt in a very long time. Just when Carter thinks he may have a chance with Alex, her ex Todd shows back up in the picture. Of course things get complicated and both men want Alex, she still has feelings for Todd but also feels a little something for Carter. Who will she choose?
I quickly found my favorite in Carter he was such a strong, loving man and so badly wanted to be with Alex and give her the love she rightfully deserved. Todd was an arrogant douchebag who was all about himself and didn’t seem to care at all about Alex and her fears. And his family, ugh don’t get me started on his mother.
Tragedy doesn’t break you down, it builds you up.
Just when I thought things were going great, there is a HUGE twist that left me in tears. How could you do this to me Betty? This was quite the page turner and I was up late reading it because I had to see how it ended. I was very happy with the ending but I would love to see more from these two. The secondary characters were great, loved Alex’s bestie Jane. My emotions were all over the place. This book has made my top reads of 2018 list for sure. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Seriously, where has this author been hiding? This book was fantastic!! I’ve read books by this author but this is by far my FAVORITE!! I couldn’t put it down and I kept on the edge of my seat to see what was happening next. This book is about Alex and Carter. They are wonderful main characters and I felt like they were relatable. Alex is such a strong main character. She goes through something that no one should ever go through but honestly she is stronger because of it. Even if it takes her a while to realize that. She is slowly trying to figure who she is suppose to be and what she is supposed to be doing with her life. And in comes Carter.. Man oh Man, this guy is sexy. And he’s the kind of sexy that make the ladies around him few sexy about themselves too. He wants Alex in his life, but he just had to convince her that she belongs there. Things are rocky for them for a while. Alex isn’t sure what she wants for her future and when her ex shows up and tries to ruin everything that she’s built for herself, she might not come out standing on the other side.
This book is one that will capture your attention from the beginning and It keeps it there, making sure you are still Turing the pages. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend! Review by Anastasia D.

I’ve read other books by this author and have always enjoyed the tales that are weaved.
I was half way through “UNBREAK THIS HEART” before I realized what the title was about. (I also sing a song every time I say the title). It’s about retaking your power and moving forward. This book is certainly about healing.
There were times during this story that I laughed and cringed and cried and sighed. There is a particular character who I wanted to throat punch. There is ugliness and beauty in this story.
It was a bit of a longer book than I remember the author writing in other books – but that could just be my impression.

Unbreak this Heart by Betty Shreffler is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I was blown away! This book discusses such a sensitive subject and the author told the story so powerfully.
Alex is trying to break herself out of the hole she’s been in for the last year. She steps out of her comfort zone and starts kickboxing lessons. She doesn’t expect the instructor or how comfortable she is with him. Alex can’t even think about starting to date again and yet she has two men vying for her attentions now after running into her ex-fiancé. She’s not sure she can handle being with either one of them but she’s slowly realizing only one of them can make her feel like the old Alex.
I absolutely love this book. There was so much emotion, I was feeling the emotions for Alex. I was rooting for her! The characters are portrayed so well. This is such a powerful story. It serves as a reminder for people who have experienced Alex’s pain, that it doesn’t always have to hurt and you can take your life back. I’m in love with this book!

If anyone ever asks me what I want in a book boyfriend my answer will simply be go read Unbreak This Heart and meet Carter…
What a book! What an author! This is not my first read by Betty Shreffler and it won’t be my last..and Im not just saying that, I truly mean that. I love her writing style and her books flow so nicely. Ill admit at one point during the story my whole day was ruined but I kept the faith that this author would not do that to me and whether it turned out like I thought it would or not she wrote a beautiful story. It wasn’t always an easy story to read as far as content but it was handled so beautifully.
Do yourself a favor and pick this book up, it is amazingly awesome and I loved the characters in this story, even the one I truly didn’t like, there always has to be one and this character was done perfectly. I was shocked at the outcome of his part of the story, it wasn’t what I thought was going to happen and I’m actually thankful for that.
I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler is at the top of my Favorite Books of 2018, I recommended every romance lover to read this book.
I am not going to tell you too much about this book I will just say – This book will commune you with its flawless emotional writing, it will fill you angry at all the BS in one person’s life. And if you find the right person and fight hard enough, you will have the strength to move forward and have the life you have always wanted.
Before reading this book, make sure a glass (bottle) of wine and box of tissues are nearby. If what I said and the blurb don’t have you one-clicking this book then I don’t know what to say.

Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler is a fantastic contemporary romance that captured my heart in so many ways. This is an exceptional story of love and loss- being broken and learning to live again! Oh my! This story broke me, tossed my heart from my chest, stomped on it- then scraped me back together again!! I really recommend that you don’t go anywhere near this book WITHOUT a huge box of tissues and a bottle of wine! Trust me, you are going to NEED them!
I can always rely on Ms. Shreffler to deliver “the goods” when I dive into one of her books. She makes her story and characters so easy to love- her words coaxing me further into the story with every turn of the page- and holding my attention with her sexy, emotive and engaging style.
I felt for Alex, my heart ached for what she had been/was going through. She really had been through the wringer! She is so much stronger than she gave herself credit for! Then there’s Carter <sigh><swoon>, what a man, he’s really perfect- and just what Alex needed to help her heal. I loved his family, too! Jane was such a fantastic addition to this story- who wouldn’t want her as their BFF!! Todd on the other hand, needs a good running kick to his…….
There was some sensitive topics included in the storyline, which were handled in a careful, but realistic manner.
I wonder what Ms. Shreffler has in store for us next???
Awesome!
Thank you, Ms. Shreffler!
