This sweet romance is a great start to the series! I absolutely love the small town in this story. All of the characters are amazing and I would love to have as friends. This author is really good with feel good romance and witty banter. I love Annie and her comfort in being herself. Wyatt is such a patient and loving character. I love this town and these characters. I have already read book 2 not realizing it was a series. You can read them as a stand alone but I highly recommend the whole series!

I have not read any books by this author before I started reading this book and I have to say that I am HOOKED and will be reading many more to come!!! This story revolves around Annabelle, who has gone through the tragic loss of losing her grandma, the one person who has always been there for her and raised her since she was young, and a guy named Wyatt who she grew up with that is fighting his own demons. Annabelle is looking for help to tend to the farm that is left for her, and he just so happens to volunteer, and the rest is history. This is a very cute contemporary wholesome romance that I have been reading the past couple of days during my lunch break at work. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this first book in the series and cannot wait to read the other three as well as more books by this author. Her writing style is one that makes you think you are right there in the middle of the action in the story with them and not just reading the story.

Just what I needed to read! This was a great story. I loved the characters, they all felt so real. I felt connected to everyone in the story. Reading about Sophie made me wish for a grandma like that. I loved everything about this book, it was easy to get lost in another world. Definitely recommend!

This is the first book in the Parker Lake Series, but it can be read as a standalone. I loved this book! It’s a beautiful story about two slightly broken people helping each other heal and falling in love. This is such a beautiful romance. Annie is such a wild, strong woman that isn’t afraid to be different and I absolutely love that about her! Her granny sounded like such a fun person and she really learned her love for animals and living life to the fullest from her. I really enjoyed the humor sprinkled throughout the sweet moments of romance and the way that Annie and Wyatt heal each other. Wyatt is so haunted and a shell of who he used to be when he returns home. Luckily he ends up asking Annie for a job and she starts to wriggle her way under his rough exterior from the very first meeting. They’re so adorable as they’re getting to know each other and growing closer. They have a couple of obstacles to work through but the ending is amazing and it definitely made me tear up. This is a book that you won’t want to miss.

This was a very sweet romance, with beautiful characters and a plot that flowed perfectly. This sweet romance was absolutely perfect with a small town setting, second chances, chemistry, and so much more I simply couldn’t put it down. While this is a new author to me I simply just can’t wait to see what happens next. Both Annabelle and Wyatt were charming, endearing and loveable characters. The story between these two was so perfect that you can’t help but cheer for them from the sidelines. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next.

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1) by Olivia Sherwood is the first book I have read by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the characters in this book, they were written so well that I felt like they were old friends instead of characters I was starting to get to know. I especially liked the names Sophia gave her farm animals, absolutely hilarious. The interactions between Annabelle and Wyatt are both funny and touching. Annabelle has just inherited a farm from her grandmother who recently passed away. Only problem is she has absolutely no idea how to run it. Thankfully for her Wyatt has just returned from his third tour and is willing to help her out. In the past these two seemed to pass each other like ships in the night but now? Now it looks like they might just have a second chance at a lasting love. This book had me laughing, crying, and at some points actually yelling at the characters. This author certainly knows have to paint a picture with her words and I definitely have to give that picture a five star rating. Thank you for the start of what looks like an amazing series. I look forward to the next entry in the series.

This first novel in the Parker Lake Series delivers the kind of heartwarming and touching tale that the synopsis introduces us to. Many times I found myself smiling or laughing along while I was reading.
Sherwood has written a beautifully heartwarming novel, with great character developments and makes you feel like you’re right there with them. She has the ability to paint a picture with her words while keeping the flow of the characters points of view.
Sherwood had me captivated within moments of starting the first chapter, I couldn’t stop reading! I will most definitely be waiting for the next novel, and hope to have the series on my shelf one day.

I’ve packed my bags and am ready to move to Parker Lake!
Olivia Sherwood gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling, deciding to take to expand my authors to read list. Unlikely in Love didn’t disappoint. I am a true believer in “everything happens for a reason,” and this love story seems to be in the same boat. All great things take time, and when it comes to the two main characters, Wyatt and Annie, the time these two have put into those they love, and care for, while fighting hard to make the world a better place, is never-ending.
From the first chapter, you’re swept into a whirlwind of emotions, and it is as though nothing else matters, all you want to do is learn more about Annie, Wyatt, their best friends, and the trials and tribulations that have paved a path for them to return to one another. Being an outcast in high school, myself, I found Annie’s character to be totally relatable, and the inner turmoil she experiences, had me covered in goosebumps as I really got to know her. I am so looking forward to following these characters into this series, as I cannot wait until I get to return to Parker and see what the extraordinary Olivia Sherwood has in store for us.

Unlikely in Love is the first book in the Parker Lake Series by Olivia Sherwood. I’m a big fan of Olivia’s and love all of her books. This series looks to be one of my favorites. The amazing way Ms. Sherwood weaves the characters and the small town atmosphere made me feel like I was part of the story. My husband thought I was a little crazy when I was talking to my kindle…. I just couldn’t put this book down. It had my attention from the first page to the last. It brought on a great range of emotions from happy to sad to angry.
This story brings together Annabelle Cleaver and Wyatt Holloway. I love the witty dialog between the characters. This is a love story about learning to trust and healing wounds. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romance. Olivia Sherwood is on my TBR list and she has never let me down with any of her books. Review by @sunbarn

Wyatt James Holloway did three tours overseas and he’s seen the worst of the worst. He doesn’t really believe that there’s allot of good left in the world. He really struggles with PTSD and the scar on his face is a constant reminder of the stuff he just wants to put in his past.
Annabelle Cleaver just lost the person she loved the most in the entire world. Granny was the one who took her in when even her mother didn’t want her and now, now that person is gone and she has to pick herself up and through her Granny the craziest “Life Celebration”. Even with all the planning she can’t help but feel lost.
In steps Mr. Hot Army Muscles, Wyatt Holloway, her old high school crush and he wants a job, and what does Annie do? She gives him one of course.
The sexual tension can be cut with a knife and the more the work together the more they start to feel for each other. Will these two broken people be able to heal each other or will old scars and relationships break them?
The reason I gave this book a five star rating was purely because of the way it was written and the way the story flows. The story progresses at a nice slow and easy pace. They don’t just jump into bed the first time they see each other. As the story flows you think that this relationship is moving perfectly and just when you think everything is perfect Olivia surprises us and throws us a curve ball. (and makes me stay up past two in the morning just to finish it.)

Utterly transfixed. This is the type of book I want to crawl into and just be. A perfect book for a lazy afternoon on the couch with a good blanket and good drink. This was a great 2nd chance romance. I was pulled in right from the beginning.
Annabelle has recently lost her grandmother and now has the farm. She also gets some shocking news that will help her make the much needed repairs on the farm.
Wyatt is home from the military and is taking one day at a time. His dad convinces him to go talk to Annabelle about working on the farm. Wyatt remembers Annabelle from school but is intrigued by the woman she has become. As these two start working together old feelings start to reignite.
Can these two find what they are missing in each other?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. The characters were great and the author pulls you right in with her writing. Their story pulls at your heartstrings. Will they get a HEA? I look forward to reading more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

Unlikely In Love by Olivia Sherwood is the first book in the Parker Lake series. This is a brilliant book and one of the best starts to a bree series I have read in a long time. The author has done an amazing job at really bringing these characters and their story to life. Everything just felt so real, as though we were right there with them. When I started reading this book I expected a sweet romance story that would be a quick and easy read. What I got was so much more than that. It was relatable and entertaining, truly delightful to read. If this is an indication as to how the whole series will be then I cannot wait it read more.

Unlikely in Love was such a cute story! It is the first book in Olivia Sherwood’s Parker Lake series, and the first I have read by her. I will be back for more, as I loved her writing style. The characters are all so relateable and authentic. The story was romantic but kept clean, giving me the happily ever after I wanted. The book tells the story of Annabelle and Wyatt. Annabelle had a rough childhood and dreams of leaving town. That was short lived, as her grandmother got sick and she had to return home. Now her grandmother has passed away, leaving her with a run down farmhouse that she cant bear to give up. Wyatt is back home after 3 overseas tours, and a medical discharge from the hospital. He lives at home with his parents and struggles keeping busy, to keep the nightmares away. These unlikely incidents brought the two together, when Wyatt takes a job as a handyman on her farm. What was once a high school crush that both were too afraid to act on, could be turned into something more. If they can only let themselves love again.

If you love to read a book with some lively characters, this is for you. Granny Sophie is a hoot! The plot was great with plenty of romance. I really liked the characters, both the male and female lead. I loved them together. Their chemistry jumped off the page. Even the secondary characters leap off the page. I commend the author on her excellent characters. I will be watching for more novels from her.

Unlikely in Love is the first novel in the Parker Lake series by Olivia Sherwood and it is amazing! I absolutely love novels that have the country setting like this one and the world that the author built in this novel is wonderful.
Annie finds herself really at a new chapter in her life. Her only family member just passed away and she finds herself with a farm to take care of. When word gets through town that she may need some help, help comes knocking from a surprising source.
Wyatt is trying to find himself. After serving multiple tours overseas, adjusting to civilian life has been a struggle. But he has to find something to do becuase his parents are driving him a bit crazy.
I absolutely loved the Annie, Wyatt, their friends and family, and the entire town of Parker. I don’t see that there are other novels in this series yet, but I anxiousky wait another!

This is one couple that you will root for to overcome tragedy to find love and triumph together. One has lost her grandmother only to find out she is now a millionaire. She will be staying to continue running the farm (with lots of life challenges ahead). The other is a returned vet with PTSD just looking for a calm job. He finds that working on the farm brings him peace. Together they work to overcome trials and find they are falling for each other. Can they get through the challenges? Will the voodoo get them (a gift from granny? along with her love of pink?) I laughed so hard at times through this book. Grandma Sophie reminded me of my grandma and her hijinks. Love the plot of the book. It was totally realistic. I look forward to reading more in this series.

I want to start off by saying I had very low expectations for this book. I am so not a small town romance reader. Give me dark, taboo, and crazy any day of the week over a small town in the middle of nowhere. However, this story made me take a double take. I couldn’t stop a smile from creeping onto my face when I started reading about dearly departed Sophie Cleaver. That woman made me think about my own crazy but lovable grandma.
I related so much to poor Annie as tried to figure out what life would be like after her biggest cheerleader was gone. I was so happy that she and Wyatt found each other. I feel like Ms. Sophie made sure to work her “voodoo” and sent her baby girl someone so she wouldn’t be alone for long. I will definitely have to read the next book in this series.

Olivia Sherwood wrote an amazing story and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time reading this. This was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time!

This was my first time reading this author and it will not be the last!! I have a deep love for sweet, romantic stories; especially ones that have military men in them!
Having grown up in a small town, I was drawn into this story immediately. Everybody knows everyone and everything that is going on. When Wyatt came back from his overseas tours a changed man, all he needs is a good woman to heal his fractured soul. Even if he doesn’t know it! Annabelle was the odd girl out in school that marched to the beat of her own drum, and still does. When she and Wyatt start working together, it’s only a matter of time before they realize that their rhythm is one in the same!
Knowing that this is the first book in this series… I am hoping that the next ones focus on her best friends finding love in their small town, too (especially with one or more of Wyatt’s friends!)! Can’t wait for the next book!

This was a lovely sweet romance set in a small Oklahoma town with a second chance at love theme. The storyline flowed well and had some very touching moments and some very funny moments which along with the wonderful characters kept me happily turning the pages. Annabelle Cleaver (Annie) inherits her grandma’s farm when she dies which results in Annie having to change her plans of leaving her small home town. Then to complicate things further for Annie her high school crush Wyatt returns to town asking for a job on her farm and she discovers he’s still as sexy as ever, if a little broken. Wyatt Holloway has returned to his childhood town a broken man haunted by the three tours overseas he took whilst serving in the army. Wyatt is surprised to find that Annie, the beautiful if quirky girl he remembers from high school is still in town and needs help on her family farm and that he is still drawn to her.
Even though it’s ten years since the pair met neither can deny that the attraction and chemistry is still there but will they get their happy ever after or not. I fell in love with Annie and Wyatt as they are both such likeable and relatable characters and their chemistry really came across in the story. The descriptive narrative bought both the small town and farm setting to life along with the characters, which made me feel immersed in the storyline. This is an enjoyable and engaging heartwarming romance and I look forward to future books in this series. I have also discovered a new favourite author in Olivia Sherwood.

This is the first time I’ve read this authors work and I will be on the hunt for more!! This is the story of Annabelle (Annie), the girl from the wrong side of the tracks with the crazy grandma, and Wyatt, the jock. Fast forward 11 years later and Annabelle and Wyatt’s paths cross as adults. Annie gave up her education to take care of her grandma and when she passes away, Annie is left with the farm. Wyatt has recently returned from serving in the military and has his own demons to face, when he goes in search of a job helping Annie take care of the farm she inherited. As they learn more and more about each others past, they quickly become friends, and then more. A very cute, yet romantic, story that had me laughing, crying, and hoping for a happily ever after.

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1) By Olivia Sherwood
This was such a sweet romantic story. Annabelle is very much alone now that her grandmother Sophie has passed away. I loved hearing all the stories about Sophie, who everyone in their small town thought was crazy. Sophie was a fun loving eccentric big hearted woman. Annabelle was also seen as a strange kid growing up in the small town. She does have 2 great best friends and I hope to learn more about them in the books to come. Wyatt also grew up in this small town but didn’t run in the same crowd as Annabelle. He is back home after being in the military, he has some scars on the outside and inside and is trying to work through some stuff. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I was rooting for them the entire time. These characters are very relatable and I felt like I was right there in the story with them. This was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to read the next one in this series. I highly recommend this book.
