My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book five in The Logan McKenna series. It could be read as a standalone book, but I say go for the whole series you won’t be disappointed. I have enjoyed each and every one of them so far. I have loved following Logans journey, she is independent, and strong and yet caring. This is Logan’s first vacation in years and yet she gets dragged int a homicide investigation, so lots of action and suspense and mystery, but at a perfect pace. You get sucked in right from the beginning and don’t want to stop reading. If you can read them all definitely a great series.

Even though this is book four in The Logan McKenna series, you could read it as a standalone. Although I do highly recommend that you read them all. Full of action, mystery and suspense nothing about this series disappoints. All the characters are very well developed, and the descriptions of the Oregon coast are wonderful making you wish you were there. Logan McKenna has become as I would say one of the best heroines, she is strong and determined and fearless.

This is another stellar mystery. It is bookended with visits from a long-lost parent. The main character finds herself drawn into the aftermath of another nefarious murder. Being an amateur musician myself, I found myself enthralled with the musical details in the plot of this tale. You can’t go wrong by reading the books in this series.

I’m really enjoying reading the Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller series. I was lucky enough to start from the beginning of this series.
Vanishing Day is about a subject that might be hard for some to understand. Being abused by your husband is not what anyone expects to happen to them. I’m sure getting out of that situation can be very difficult. I appreciate the way the author portrayed Lori and her daughter Shannon’s situation and what Lori is trying to do for her daughter.
Overall, like the other Logan McKenna stories, the author does a great job of world and character building. There are many twists and turns in the story which keeps things interesting. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Vanishing Day was such a good book, part of the Logan McKenna series. It does not have to be read as part of the series, it can be enjoyed as a stand alone. I have read a couple books in the series, but not in order. Logan always seems to find herself in crazy situations. Being neighborly and friendly soon leads to someone trying to kill her. This book was fast paced and I didn’t want to put it down. I like that we got to sort of see both sides of things. Some chapters focus on Logan, and others on her neighbor Lori, and others from the point of view of Lori’s ex. I highly recommend, and have already started another book by the author. They are thriller, but without being scary. The characters do experience domestic abuse, so bit of a trigger warning.

I think this may be my favourite of the series so far. I really enjoyed the story and I love getting to know that characters a little bit more with each story. I actually loved that I learned a little from this story too, it really was a great read. I think what I felt most in this book was a shift in Logan’s character, she really did seem happy and that her life was moving in a more positive direction. I enjoyed the pace of this story it did feel a little slower but equally as exciting to read.
Although this is the third book in the series it could be read as a standalone however I would highly recommend that they are read in order just so you can fully understand the back story if the characters.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

After enjoying book 1 in this series I was looking forward to seeing what Logan would be doing in this second book and I wasn’t disappointed. Again the author told an exciting, gripping read which kept me turning the pages. Her writing is engaging and exciting. I really like the main character Logan, she just has something about her that makes you like her instantly. I liked the differing POV’s in the book it meant that the story had more depth to it in my opinion. There were a few sensitive topics within the books but I felt he author dealt with them really well and respectfully.
I can’t wait to see what happens with Logan in the next book!

The Logan McKenna Series has been a great adventure. I hate to admit this but ai started reading these books around book four or five and then read books one through three. All have been great and all can be read individually without needing to read any of the others. I do however highly suggest reading all of them because you will fall in love with the characters. This is book two of this series and we see Logan dipping her toes back into the dating scene having started a new relationship. On a trip to Portland, Oregon she makes a new friend in Than, a Vietnamese vet trying to get back on his feet and owner of a food truck. When an explosion destroys Than’s truck, he is one if the main suspects. Logan is determined to help get him cleared as a suspect and find the true culprit. Not knowing anyone on the force in Portland and not having her normal access to any evidence she is on her own. Who can she trust? Will she be able to find this guy before he strikes again?

The pace of the story was really good and the characters were well developed. The book was easy to read and follow. The authors descriptions in the story are pretty vivid so it was quite easy to imagine what was going on – probably not a book to be reading before bed I have to admit! The main character Logan was a likeable and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more about her in future books.

Logan McKenna is at it again, in this thrilling new adventure in Forest Park, Book 2 of The Logan McKenna Series. This poor woman is just getting her life back together, two years after the tragic accident that claimed her husband’s life. She’s moved on to a new job, a new relationship in the making, and is even taking time to vacation in Portland, Oregon. This poor woman must face tragedy once again as a murder takes place while on her vacation. Will Logan be able to clear the name of her new friend, and make it out of this alive, or is the killer after her once again? There are so many pieces to put together to solve this ongoing mystery while enjoying the thrill of the chase to beat the clock. What an amazing read this was, Valerie Davisson just keeps outdoing herself as this series progresses, and so does the intensity of the cases Logan is in dire need of solving. I am officially hooked on this series and am so excited to continue solving these murder mysteries along with our heroine. Will Logan ever get a break, and get to enjoy life, or is she doomed to continuously be put into life-threatening situations?

A new Otter Rescue has just opened on a plot of land, but there are people who don’t want it there. They’d much rather have condos sitting there. Who wants the Otter Rescue demolished and will they succeed? Logan found herself in the middle of an investigation when she shows up for her shift at the Otter Rescue to find a co-worker deceased and another barely clinging to life. A severe storm is rolling in and she must hurry as her daughter Amy is missing. Will she find her before she perishes as well? This was a fast paced book and it was fun to read. I enjoyed learning about the sea otters. I have always thought they were absolutely adorable, especially how they hold hands when sleeping. The Logan McKenna series if you’re looking for something new to dive into.

Shattered is the first book in Valerie Davisson’s The Logan McKenna Series, and it was an amazing mystery, thriller! I was highly impressed with the way that the characters were developed with so much intrigue, they were well-developed and well-rounded in that they are very realistic. I love the setting, the eerie darkness that follows Logan is just chilling. I love that there is a killer on the loose and that we get to help solve the mystery while living the story through Logan’s experiences. The fact that she works so hard to clear Thomas, who won’t even fight for himself, and then having the community come together to help solve this crime is so heartwarming. What a wonderful read, I couldn’t put it down from the second I opened the book. I am a huge fan of mystery books and thrillers, so combining both into a series was awesome!!! This is a must-read for all you book lovers looking for your next adventure of thrills and chills.

This book is so full of thrills, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book! It was so exciting I read the whole book in one sitting; I just couldn’t put it down! I had to know what happened to Logan’s daughter Amy, and the adorable sea otter cub. If you love a good mystery series that is full of thrills and chills, then this series should be on your next-to-read list. The action that goes on is so mind-numbing, it’s like you are right there experiencing everything through Logan’s eyes, her fears are real! I am so excited to start on the next book in this series because if it’s anything like the first three books in this series, it is going to continue to offer a thrill ride I can’t wait to get started on.

This series never disappoints! I’ve enjoyed the first two and this one is no different. Logan (our mc) is always running into to trouble and this book includes a mystery, twists and turns, and a mysterious newcomer that shows up out of no where and throws a wrench in a well thought out plan BUT the most important part of this story was… Sea Otters! Absolutely adorable and we get to learn quite a bit about them in this book!

As with this other books in this series, this book can be read as a standalone but IMO this series should be read in order to get the most out of the series! I would recommend this to anyone that love a good mystery!
Happy Reading!

All Logan wanted to do was enjoy some quality time working on her art and music. After losing her years prior husband this was just the break she needed for her and her daughter. Yet neither could imagine their lives changing so drastically when they saved a sea otter pup. Gina, the owner of the local sea otter rehabilitation center sits on the land that Gina’s father left her but even that is in jeopardy now. Everything is on the line along with Amy’s life. This is the first book I have read from this series but it won’t be the last that’s for sure! The author did an amazing job giving enough details about the back story that I knew enough to grasp the storyline and the history of the characters.

It made for a perfect combination of learning and thrilling mystery. The way the background is painted for us throughout the book brings such vivid scenery to the forefront of my mind. Devils Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is book three in the Logan McKenna series. It does seem as though you could read each book as a standalone, but being a series, I’d just read them in order. This story was a little closer to home for Logan than the previous two books. This one involves a murder at her job and then includes her daughter, Amy, missing. Logan and her daughter are back in California. There was a lot of interesting descriptions in this book, especially about Sea Otters. Again, Valerie is an amazing with making you feel right in the story and assisting with the descriptive movie in your head. But there were also a lot of people that were telling the story to keep track of. Overall, another decent read. I’d be interested in what other crazy scenarios Logan gets herself into.

With her husband Jack passing due to a car accident, Logan McKenna must continue living and find ways to survive. Although teaching didn’t seem to pan out, Logan continues to find her place in the world. Maybe it’s through helping friends at their booth at an arts festival.
A dead body is found in one of the other booths and the police suspect Logan’s friend is the killer. Logan feels a great need to help her friend.
This book is well written and I enjoyed learning about the main character Logan. She’s a strong woman who cares for others and I can easily relate to her. The world building helped put the story together. A good mystery book and a new series I’m looking forward to read more books by this author.

Shattered: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is book one in the Logan McKenna series. This is my first introduction to this author and although the book wasn’t my favorite, I will be checking out the rest in the series. It was nice to find a murder mystery that was interesting and not the same as the rest. Logan has been through a lot and is now trying to find herself in the second half of her life. After all, she’s only in her 40s, she’s got more to do in this life. The book itself was good, started dry for me but I came back around. I can appreciate the different arts in the book and found everything quite interesting. Everything was explained in such detail that I felt that I was about to get a good grasp on why Logan enjoyed it. It is at a Festival where there is a murder and one of her friends is a suspect. I am looking forward to book two.

Devil’s Claw is the third book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series. It is a crime thriller chock full of action, suspense, mystery, murder, intrigue, and drama. Logan McKenna’s life is going well, and she has settled into a comfortable life in her Southern California home near the beach. She has a new job and finally has plenty of time for her music. When her and her daughter rescue a baby Otter, they take it to the Southern Sea Otter Center where they nurse it back to health. Things take a sinister turn when the land the center sits on becomes the target of numerous individuals who all try lay claim to it. When someone Logan knows is murdered Logan takes it upon herself to investigate the mystery surrounding the property. She quickly finds herself swept up in a world of greed, resentment, loss, betrayals, secrets, and violence. Logan could be the next person on the killer’s hit list if she does not solve this mystery quickly enough. I loved the characters of Logan and Amy. Both are kind, smart, compassionate, and determined. The close relationship they had as mother and daughter was endearing and heartwarming. This story took some twists and turns as Logan worked to solve her latest mystery before more lives were lost. The more I read, the more intriguing the mystery became, and I was hooked until the very end. I highly recommend this series!

Forest Park is the second book in The Logan McKenna Mystery series. It is a crime thriller full of action, suspense, murder, mystery, intrigue, drama, lies, and secrets. Life for Logan McKenna is looking better, and things seem to be on track. After the rough road she experienced and all of the loss she is happy, healthy, and in a good relationship. Life seems to be coasting along until everything changes in the blink of an eye and throws her world into chaos once again. As Logan awaits the arrival of her boyfriend at their hotel room, she hears a loud boom coming from outside. When she ventures out to discover the source of the sound, she discovers an explosion occurred at the Vietnamese food truck she had been at a short time before. Logan is horrified to discover that the woman killed in the explosion was someone that she had formed a bond with. The police have suspects, two of which are her friends, but Logan feels that they are not the real killer and is determined to find the real culprits. She feels obligated to try to solve what happened and starts digging for clues only to discover there are long-buried secrets that are better left alone. Logan is a character that I really like, and I enjoy reading her adventures, She is smart, tenacious, determined, strong, courageous and does not back down when things become difficult. This adventure led to highs and lows, chaos, confusion, sadness, betrayal, hurt, loss, and hope. I look forward to reading book three.
