This was my first book by this author, and it ended up being a pretty cute western romance to read in my lazy afternoon. It’s the beginning of the Match Made in Montana series which looks like it’s going to be quite interesting. I do enjoy both the rivalry and forced proximity tropes this book contains as well. The chemistry between Ryan and Meg is intriguing and kept my interest throughout the story. I did feel the flow of the characters’ interactions felt a little unnatural at times, but nothing to remove a star for whatsoever. If you’re usually put off by the spiciness of romance books these days, this is a nice, refreshingly clean romance to cleanse your palate.
This is a first for me for this author. I read this book and absolutely fell in love. Meg’s and Ryan’s story was sweet and touching. The slow build up between these two was adorable. When they were young, Ryan found Meg his next door neighbor pretty annoying. They butted heads often, but found amusement from it. Years later Hank asks Meg to clean out his shed, and she can sell whatever she finds in her antique shop on consignment. Ryan who still lives there, is finding this quite annoying and bothersome. But as time goes on, he finds that he’s actually enjoying the time that she’s there. However, Meg finds a piece that shocks both of them. Do they continue with their budding romance, or do they leave and forget each other? I absolutely loved reading this book and Henry’s character made me laugh a few times. The writing and story were extremely well written and I enjoyed every single word. I hope to read more by this writer soon!
This was such a sweet storyline for frenemies romance. Meg and Ryan had me rooting them all along. They had known each other for a long time. I think their grandmothers had tried to do a little matchmaking themselves when the kids were younger. Watching these two come to terms was painful at times but they worked it out for themselves. Hank reminded me of myself because he just said it how he saw it. He’s a good grandpa. Ryan was trying to make things work for the Ranch and Meg just wanted her dream to work. This is one of those sweet romances you should read just because you can. You won’t be disappointed. The characters are great. I loved the town. The story is done well. I can’t wait for the next book.
This is the first book in the series and it’s a little of a rough start. I am giving this book 4.5/5 stars because it has amazing potential and I feel that the books to follow in this series will definitely be more polished. It has good bones just needs little work in the characters. Ugh that isn’t even fully correct. The characters are good, they are complex but a little too complex for the story line. I felt like they jumped all over the place or said one thing and then did another. Just when I started to mesh with them something would happen that wouldn’t be in line with what I thought should happen. So this doesn’t mean that they aren’t good or written well. It just means I had a difficult time finding that gel that makes one connect with the characters. The book it self is written well, it is definitely an enemies to lovers trope. It has romance and love but in a very clean almost sweet package. You do feel the emotions of the characters. This is why its between 4.5 and 5 stars for me. It has everything to be a star booklet I didn’t gel with the characters throughout the book which made it hard for me to pay attention or not get sidetracked by something else, which is why it would be a 4.5 star review. Like I said earlier, I feel that the following books in this series are going to be amazing and I am looking forward to reading them. An enjoyable and engaging small town western romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Meg runs an antiques store which is faltering, and so when her elderly friendly neighbour Hank asks her to clear out his shed she says yes hoping to discover a forgotten treasure. Her only concern in visiting Montana Ranch is seeing Hank’s grandson Ryan, her childhood frenemy. Ryan is a workaholic putting everything into his business having gone into the world of high-end tourism. He usually avoids Meg, his annoying neighbour, but with her clearing out his Grandfather’s shed he can’t ignore her. However, the forced proximity has him seeing Meg in a different light. As the couple’s feelings develop a surprise discovery forces them to choose to either trust in the potential of love, or end the relationship and move on. This is a sweet, heartwarming slow burn romance between two likeable and relatable characters within a small town setting. The enemies to lovers storyline had me hooked and both the characters and the setting came to life, making me feel immersed in the story. I also loved octogenarian Hank who is a wonderful character. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Rachelle Paige Campbell is the author of Match Made in Montana series and Finders Keepers, Cowboy is the first book in this western romance series. It is a very clean frenemies romance trope set in a small town with small town characters. I am a bit all over the place with this one just as much as the contradictory nature of the characters themselves at times. It made it hard for me to gel with them. One minute they are enemies and the next minute they love each other. Although Colby is a special character as is Hank, they definitely made the story. What is it about her that makes him dislike her so especially when the town adore her. I really wanted to like this story and the premise is good it just didn’t make the mark for me but don’t let my opinion stop you from reading it because you may just love it.

The Reluctant Suitor was a great read. The book was a fast paced book. It was action packed. It was a good romance story. This is a series, however you could read it alone and be able to follow the story. I do feel like if you start from book one that you would understand the characters more. The world building and characters was well thought out.

She’s been accuse by her now former employer of killing her husband. Rather than stay and prove her innocence Lovely Jo has been on the run. She’s got a bounty on her head and everyone is looking for her. Dusty could sure use that money and seriously considers turning her in. The thousand dollars wouldn’t completely cover his debts, but it would clear up a chunk of it. Lovely Jo for her part offers him something that has a lot of value depending how you are looking at what is offered. She offers her virtue. Will Dusty end up taking her up on the offer? This book had me laughing in some instances and almost crying in others. Although this is part of a novella series this can be read as a stand alone. Usually I’m not a fan of these short stories like this, but the story never felt like it was lacking in any way. I just wish it were a little longer. If you are looking for a fast paced book that can be read in one sitting you’ve found something to suit just those needs. This was an interesting story. I liked it. During a time when interracial relationships were frowned upon, people risked it all for love. I felt like the setting and language was pretty authentic to the time frame. Most people were uneducated and poor. Especially in small towns. The only part I didnt quite enjoy was how rushed the story feels. Everything happens so fast and in such a small time window that it feels incomplete. Other than that it was enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this story. Greta Fay is sweet and seems like such a lovely young woman. She’s courageous and Brave. I loved her relationship with Minnie. Christopher James seems like he has good morals and is well fitted for Greta Fay.

This book actually had a lot going on. We had a small update on Lovely Jo. We follow Billie Jean and Fischer’s story as well as the Bersteins children. It gave a bit more depth to the story and didn’t feel rushed. The black women in these stories are so brave and courage and I enjoy reading about the boundaries they set, the lines they cross, and the changes they make. All for love and equality.

The Reluctant Suitor is Book Five in The Studs of Clear Creek County series. It is a historical western romance that centers around the characters of Billie Jean and Fisher. Billie Jean is a strong willed, intelligent, college educated black woman who believes in standing up for the rights of her people. While visiting her family in Clear Creek County she meets Fisher who saves her from being thrown from her runaway horse. Fisher is instantly attracted to Billie Jean but any attraction that she may have for him is quickly suppressed because they are living in a time where interracial relationships are still considered taboo and are frowned upon.
When Billie Jean learns that the blacks are working under horrible conditions at the Locke Farm, she decides to do something about it. She prepares for a fight to make changes and finds herself faced with Locke’s Property Supervisor. Fisher has worked hard to become supervisor and is proud of his achievements. He is happy to have finally gained the admiration of his high society parents and is reluctant to do anything to ruin everything he has achieved. However, Fisher is unable to deny the attraction he has towards Billie Jean and how he feels about her. He wants a future with her but with Billie Jean pitted in a battle against the Locke’s any chance at a relationship with her might be impossible. Tensions rise, attraction grows, chemistry develops, and Billie Jean finds herself reluctantly falling for Fisher. Can Fisher and Billie Jean ever have a chance at a future together?
This book was wonderfully written and discussed the topics of interracial relationships, inequality, age gaps, and forbidden romance, in a sensitive manner. The characters are well developed and engaging. Billie Jean is a strong, independent, smart, feisty, and determined woman. She was determined to make a difference in the world as she fought against injustice and inequality. Fisher is smart, strong, determined, and hardworking. He has worked hard to gain the support of his parents and is proud of everything he has achieved. Billie Jean and Fisher are attracted to one another but face a lot of obstacles that seem determined to keep them apart. This book has action, suspense, chemistry, passion, forbidden romance, angst, drama, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, and unexpected love.

This is the 5th book in the The Studs of Clear Creek County Series. These stories are historical romance set in a time when interacial relationships weren’t the right thing and were frowned upon. As with all the books in this series the writer creates strong female characters who are dealing with oppression and disadvantages because of the colour of their skin and this is just the same. This is a fast paced read so i was able to read it in one sitting. In this story we meet Billie Jean. She has come to visit her cousins. She is seen as a bit of a trouble maker as she is the only member of the family to attend college and that wasn’t really heard off. While she is visiting she hears about the poor treatment of her people on a farm so Billie Jean and her cousin prepare to fight for change. What she doesn’t expect is to fall for the one man she needs to hate.
Fisher Hines is the supervisor of Locke Farm. All he wants is to make his parents proud and he intends to keep doing that. However what he didn’t plan for was Billie Jean. From the day he rescued her he can’t get her off his mind but when she comes ready for a war and attempting to destroy everything he has worked hard for will he still see her as a breathtaking damsel? Their attraction to each other keep pulling them closer but their difference of opinions keep forcing them apart. Can their love ever succeed? What will be Fisher parents reaction when they realise just who the girl is that has captured his heart. This is a really interesting read and as a reader I was fully immersed into their story and their fights. Both fighting for what they believe in but also fighting to be together.

This book was great! It’s about a forbidden romance. Billie Jean fights for her people. She has to go against the town to fight for black rights. She has an instant connection with Fisher Hines. Their love is put to the test. Fisher must fight for what he wants versus everything his family has worked for.

Stacy-Deanne has become an author that I get excited when I see that she has a new release because I know that it will be a book that I will enjoy from the moment I pick it up. She has yet to disappoint me with this. This book is one in a series, and although there is overlap in some characters from book to book, there is no doubt in my mind that each book works as a standalone. Billie Jean is such a fantastic main character who is fighting for the rights of her people, in a time where it can be dangerous to do so. Fisher is a man from a wealthy family who begins to develop feelings for Billie Jean, even though he knows that he definitely shouldn’t. The chemistry between the two of them absolutely jumps off of the page. I also love the historical story line and how this book features a strong female lead. These are stories that need to be told, even if they are fictional,. I love that Stacy-Deanne does not shy away from these complicated story lines and complicated times in history and instead uses them to create fantastic novels that you do not want to put down! Once again, this book leaves me anxiously awaiting Stacy-Deanne’s next release!

I recently commented on a read that it was as if the universe knew just what I needed at that point in time and this was one of those reads , it came to help me forget , get lost , cry , get angry , live the story and it’s characters , love and just feel good about people and life and everything involved so what’s not to love !?
Katelyn is an equine therapist but she’s also beautiful , fearless and fierce . When she jumps in to save the day she catches the attention of Jim, he knows of a horse and rider that need her healing touch ………
Grant is troubled and his relationship with his horse Hugh is tense both man and horse are in dire need of healing , Grant is not an easy man but I love his Scottish accent and his butler / friend Jeffers .
I must hand it to Jeffers , he’s a kind and patient man but also humble to love Grant and his ways .
Katelyn loves a challenge and soon enough she’s headed North Carolina to meet Hugh and his master and let’s just say the the equine , troubled ad he is is easier to be with than his owner …
Katelyn has a good , kind heart and is genuinely a hard worker and watching her interact with Hugh , the stable hands , Jeffers and the Sutter family speaks volumes of her character but Grant prickles her a bit and brings out a feisty side to her 😉and it’s entertaining that’s for sure !
This really is like a retelling of beauty and the beast with a twist 🥰and a beautiful tale indeed and I enjoyed it so much that I’ve re read it three times!#truestorythelifeofabibliophile#

This small town historic romance book has some pretty hard issues within its pages. Billie is fighting for her rights and equality! And she’s also falling for someone, that others don’t agree with. This book sucked me right in because of the angst, the drama and the story alone! I really enjoyed the characters and I wish the book was a bit longer so I could read more about them. I always get sad when a book ends. Super fast paced book!

I could barely put this book down. I love the strong female characters in this series, and this book was every bit as good as the first book. Katelyn is sweet as pie and tough as nails, and strong as an ox. Reading her story unfold as she rehabilitates a broken horse, and his rider in the process, was captivating. It will have you rooting for love and letting go of expectations and acceptance until the end. Simply beautiful.
I am a horse girlie at heart and just like that, I’m back in my horse girlie era. Throw in an enemies-to-lovers trope, with a no-nonsense girl with her head on straight who meets a hurt, frankly traumatised guy with daddy issues and I’m rooting for these fictional characters with all my heart. The tension simmers, you can’t help but become emotionally invested in these characters, and I never thought I’d say this, but steamy moments in unexpected places, wink wink? Say no more.
As a horse therapist, Katelyn Sullivan does her job and helps out others but she is gruff around the edges in the sense that she tells people how it is and does not hold back. When she gets asked to help out an injured prize thoroughbred she agrees eager to help. Once she arrives she meets Grant Tennyson, a stuck up man who yells at everyone in his path. He doesn’t care for Katelyn she is a temporary employee and here to do a job but the more he sees her and her work ethic, the more he begins to want to know her. As they get close though things may be torn apart when Grant has to make a choice.
This was a bit like Beauty and the Beast. Katelyn is a new favorite character of mine, she is full of sass. Grant has an initial heir of snobbery but once you get to understand his past you get it. Full of surprises with this book, had a smile on my face throughout.

This is the second book in the Sweet Valley Series, and I loved it just as much as the first one! I think it can be read as a standalone but trust me you’ll regret missing out on the first book if you go that route. This author has a marvelous way of writing relatable characters that you instinctively root for even if some of them are grumpy. Katelyn and Grant have a chemistry that seems obvious yet natural. This book really checked a lot of boxes for me as it pulls you in and has you invested in everyone involved. I highly recommend picking this up (and the first one) if you’re looking for a good western romance!

This book follows the stories of Grant and Katelyn. Grant is a businessman who runs a successful horse breeding farm. He is known around the community as a stubborn and grumpy man. Katelyn is a young woman who has spent her whole life around horses. She likes to look toward the positives in situations and is fearless.
Katelyn meets Grant when she obtains a job trying to help rehab his prized thoroughbred horse. Grant was not happy with her when they first met. He did not care for how she talked to him in a manner no one else would dare to. She also was not educated enough to be put in charge of the health of such an important horse.

Another fascinating BWWM story from this author. As always a fascinating read that is entertaining and a quick read. A historical romance of the time when black and white didn’t mix. I found the characters to be very interesting. There were a few substories going on that were entertaining and interesting. The story kept me on the edge-of-my-seat. I have followed this series from the beginning and found it to be full of drama and a bit of everything. I will be eagerly awaiting the next one.

The Reluctant Suitor is a BWWM Contemporary Western Romance in The Studs of Clear Creek County Series . I’m a huge fan of Historical Romance and this definitely checked the boxes. This authors style of writing and attention to detail along with fully developed characters make for a epic story. This author sheds light on topics that may be otherwise difficult for some. This story shows us how Caucasian and African American relationships are frowned upon. Get ready to be taken on quite the emotional journey in this forbidden lover’s story. It’s a short yet fast paced story that will leave you wanting more. How far are you willing to fight for happiness and what is most important to you ? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

If you ever need a heart warming, strong willed, twist and turning romance novel, this is the book for you! I loved this book! With a strong female lead and a hot tempered man, this book will pull your heart strings and make you soar with happiness! Highly recommended!
Granting Katelyn is Book #2 in the Sweet Valley Series and while this book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading this series in order as this series is fantastic for any romance lover like me. This story of Katelyn and Grant gave me drama, age gap (which I LOVE), heartbreak, healing, romance and a roller coaster of emotions with definite ups and downs. This was a great story.
Katelyn Sullivan has a love for helping horses as a equine therapist and is very good at what she does. She is tough as nails, no nonsense and not afraid to back down……she is given a chance to help a very an injured horse with recovery due to an accident…..but butting heads with Grant Tennyson is not on her agenda. Grant Tennyson is grumpy, grouchy and overall comes across rude. He is under a lot of pressure from his father, Ian, to make sure their farm is run smoothly and also making sure that Katelyn does her job to help with Hugh’s recovery. As the layers are slowly peeled away when Katelyn and Grant get to know each other, the spark comes from within…but Grant knows he should not have any feelings toward Katelyn as his father wants only the best for Grant, including a wife. What happens when the matters of the heart comes to blows with family obligations that are just unreasonable from a high powered father like Ian Tennyson.
This is a great story. I highly recommend and many parts really pulled at my heart strings, especially Grant’s history and back story. The author does such a great job on storytelling as this book was very hard to put down. Looking forward to Laney’s story next!
Granting Katelyn (Sweet Valley Series) by S.E. Reichert. I love this series. This is the second book in the Sweet Valley Series but they can be read as a standalone. This is the story of Katelyn who helps injured horses. She has a lot of issues with her past but puts off a brave front. She has to because most people that work with horses are all men. When she travels across country to help a thoroughbred in need she arrives thinking that everyone is on board with her coming to help. Enter Grant who is the owner of said thoroughbred. He has not intention of letting anyone take control of his life especially his horses. When Katelyn shows up he does everything in his power to get rid of her. Katelyn is a little tougher than he gives her credit for. The more time they spend together the more they realize the friction between them might be romance. Read this sweet 2nd book in this awesome series to find out what happens.
The Reluctant Suitor (The Studs of Clear Creek County) by Stacy-Deanne. This is a good short, historical story about Billie Jean Willis who is visiting her cousins on their farm in 1895. Billie Jean is looked on as a troublemaker because she is one of the very few women to attend college. When she sees how some of her people are being treated she is not one to back down from fighting for what is right for them. When she meets Fisher who is the supervisor of all the people that Billie Jean feels are being treated poorly she wants to hate him but they are drawn together. Fisher comes from a wealthy family and wants to make his family proud but he can’t help his attraction to Billie Jean. Will they be able to come to an agreement and make things better for the worker and build a relationship or will they just never see eye to eye? Read this awesome historical romance to find out!
