Woman Unbroken
By: Alexandra Fleder

This is an incredibly emotional and intense story that should feature a trigger warning for victims of abuse. The main character, Devorah is about to undergo the biggest undertaking of her life – taking her life back despite being an incredibly broken and defeated woman.
This story is one that many can directly relate to, unfortunately. But if you cannot relate to this story, it will leave you feeling empowered and just feeling better about the world in general. Everyone can relate to the general them that no matter what we go through in life, we always have the chance to grow and find ourselves again. This book had me crying throughout but most of the tears were good tears, the tears that one cries when they have made realizations about themselves through the journey of a well written and well developed character.
This book may not be for everyone, however, if you pick it up you will find yourself definitely rooting for the main character and perhaps finding yourself growing with her.

Devorah has had more than enough trauma to last a lifetime. After leaving her abusive husband she is on a mission, albeit not too quickly, to regain control of herself and her life.
Woman Unbroken was an emotional read. The main character, Devorah, was easy to like and relate to. I love that in seeking a new life Devorah didn’t take the easy route. The author did a great job truly making this a story of rediscover and working through the tough stuff.

Woman Unbroken is an intense emotional novel. I could relate to her story directly and even if you can’t, the power of self-redemption shines through. The character of Devorah is one the reader can get behind and cheer on. The topic of domestic abuse is a heavy topic. Deborah goes through her trauma and becomes empowered. I love the strong female lead and the journey she goes through.

Woman Unbroken is so not what I expected…

I’m a romance reader. A smut reader. A bully reader.

This…this was the journey of a woman beaten down by a narcissistic husband. One she leaves. One she’s divorcing.
The journey of her come back.

This journey is told from Deborah’s perspective because it’s her story.

It’s full of raw emotion. Highs and lows. Fears and hopes. Learning. Discovering.

It’s an unfortunate truth many women can relate to.

Will relate to…

Perhaps there will be a Woman Reborn?

This is the first book I have read by this author and hope to read more of hers. It’s about being in an abusive relationship and finding her way out to begin a new life for herself. I hope anyone who is in an abusive relationship can relate and to be able to start over themselves. Good book!

Relatable, emotional and raw
This story holds nothing back. It is raw and at times confronting. Devorah has faced unimaginable pain and suffering over the years and has finally escaped. Now she needs to rebuild her life and herself. This is well written and had me on an emotional roller coaster the whole time. Highly recommend.

Woman Unbroken is a woman’s story of perseverance and finding herself again after being oppressed down to nothing. Trigger warning for anyone who has been in any sort of abusive relationship. The story itself was written well but I struggled at times to get through it. It did get better as it went on. The author presents a very heavy topic. However it’s the way the main character grows and moves forward that’s empowering.
Devorah left her husband. Scared that he was going to hurt her with his paranoia and violent temper. He already reduced her life down to just him, what else did he want? She’s trying to move on but has no motivation most days. Until she meets Andrew, and those lack of motivation days start to lessen over time. He brings out a side of her she didn’t expect. Accepting and agreeing to things that surprise her. All this while still dealing with her soon to be ex-husband.
Does her ex-husband get to her?
Do Devorah and Andrew build a relationship?
That and so many questions come to mind while navigating this story. Again it’s central is dealing with a heavy topic and situation.
A story about women’s empowerment. If you enjoy a book around a strong female lead this is for you!

This is such an emotional read. I felt as if I truly got to know Devorah through her own eyes. I connected to her more through the trauma and I wanted to hold her during the abusive relationship. That is when you know a book is written well. When you want to jump in and protect or defend your choice character. Bravo! I recommend this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐⭐ Book Review

Woman Unbroken focuses on discovering oneself while carrying baggage of a broken past. This is my first time reading a novel written by Fleder and it sure did not disappoint. Fleder touched on some pretty heavy topics without hesitation and for that I praise her writing. Devorah was extremely relatable. Despite the emotional roller coaster I was sent on, I found myself rooting for her the entire book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an emotional novel featuring a devoted, determined protagonist.

This was the first book I’ve read by the author, and upon further investigation, seems like her first book. I have mixed feelings on Woman Unbroken. It is a story about not giving up on yourself, and restarting your life. Devorah has been dealt a bad hand in life, with her parents getting divorced, her father remarrying a much younger woman, and then going to jail. And her mother fleeing the embarrassment in Europe. Then Devorah finds herself in an unhealthy, abusive relationship. She finally works up the courage to leave, but doesn’t have much to run away to, in order to restart. We see her try to start over and pick of the pieces. I like that the author gave her the courage to leave, and the bravery to open herself up again, when she meets Andrew. I was glad to see how she handled that, in a mature manner. However, at the end of the book, I kind of felt… lacking? Like there wasn’t much resolution, or good for her, or feeling of contentment. The story just kind of fizzled out. Despite my feelings, it was still an enjoyable book, and I would read more by this author. She has definite potential.

Devorah was a very strong woman, I really enjoyed her story. The whole time I was on edge wondering if he would find her, was she really safe? Would she finally be truly happy? There was so much going on, the author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I feel like there were several meanings to this story that made me think about where I am in my life. This book is a well written and surprisingly emotional story and I found myself connecting with Devorah much more than I expected to. There is so much going on through this story, but it is all emotional and angst ridden that it has a completely different feel than what I thought it would.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and what an introduction it was. The way the book is written really drew me in to the story. I wanted to see how Devorah would develop and what was in store for her. There was also a bit of an edge to the book that added an extra element which made is even better. This is a great book that is very much worth the read.

This is the first piece of work I have read by this author, and I hope it will not be the last! I found the character Devorah Fields to be interesting and relatable, and her story to be captivating and inspiring. I am always drawn to books with a strong female protagonist, and while Devorah might initially seem “unreachable” being an actress and model, I actually found it very easy to slip right into her world and feel the things she goes through. As a working mom and wife, I found her quest to rediscover herself to be endearing and on point. Reading Devorah’s story will inspire anyone to take a good look at their own life and ask “Is this really who I am?” I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a good emotional story to get lost in.

This was a sweet story of someone finding themself after a tough time. I enjoyed getting to know Devorah through her own eyes. She went on a journey to get herself out of an abusive relationship and what sounded like a tumultuous childhood. I have to admit, that the story doesn’t seem far fetched for the “stars of California” as it reminds me of the many reality shows on tv these days. Devorah has several people in her corner – her stepmom, cat Fergie, new friend Andrew, old friend Pauline and Misty. I loved that for her. They each gave her a bit of strength to heal and become who she is meant to be.
PS. Her ex – UGH!

This is an emotional, intense at times story following Devorah, a woman who has been broken in just about every way but ready to take back her life.

Though not everyone will be able to relate to her story directly, this is a powerful story with reminders that despite the many heartaches and traumas we encounter in life, we may have the opportunity to grow and find ourselves again. The author does a wonderful job developing Devorah’s character and connecting the reader to her story. The writing style is simple, but engaging and effective. This was a wonderfully written novel with an emotional, empowering and inspirational storyline which had me hooked from start to finish. Former teen actress and model Devorah Fields had a chaotic upbringing with her father being a former Hollywood heavyweight turned con artist who is now in prison, and her English born actress mother, who has returned to England. Devorah is now in hiding from her estranged and abusive husband at her family’s old house in the Malibu hills. However, with every creak of her childhood home she fears that her husband has found her. Devorah has been left feeling scared, lost and lonely with only her precious cat Fergie for company, as she tries to come to terms with her past. She is determined to revive the talented young woman that she was, but first she has to come to the realisation that she had abandoned herself. This took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this as the narrative really made me feel totally immersed in the story. The setting and the characters came vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, and I felt particularly engaged with Devorah and felt what she was feeling. The story does deal with some sensitive issues involving domestic abuse, but does so with sensitivity and honesty. Overall the message that comes from the story is one of inspiration and woman’s empowerment.

Woman Unbroken by Alexandra Fleder is an emotional woman’s fiction story and my first read by this author. I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but the cover captured my attention enough that I wanted to find out what lay beneath.
This book gave exactly what it promised- a moving story about rediscovering oneself after heartache and pain- and learning to start over.
Devorah has been through so much, and the author writes in such a way that I couldn’t help but feel for her and everything she had been/was going through. I couldn’t help investing in her and the outcome of her story.
Empowering and inspirational.
Happy Reading.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This for me was a very powerful and at times hard read because I related to so much of the story. Not the being famous part but the escaping from domestic abuse.
The author does an incredible job of allowing the reader an inside look into what actual happens to a person when they leave an abusive relationship. You are shown the pain, the fear, the loneliness, the inability to trust anyone or even have confidence in your own judgement. And the hardest part is having to rebuild your life and find yourself again after you were pretty much destroyed mentally and physically. The author dealt with this story in a way that was respectful but also allowing the reader to see that just because you leave the relationship doesn’t mean the trauma ends there. You lose so much of yourself during the time in a relationship like that, that the hardest part is rebuilding and finding yourself again.

Devorah Fields used to be a model and a young actress. Her family life wasn’t plain sailing however as her father was a movie producer and con artist and her mother was a British actress. To get away from the environment at home she jumped at the chance of marrying her husband. I mean what could go wrong. He was handsome and so caring. It was a match made in heaven.
Fast forward and Devorah’s father is in prison, her mother and left to return to England and her Prince charming turned out to be a monster.
She had finally find the strength and courage to leave him and has returned to her own family home. Now she has to figure out what she is going to do with her life. How is she going to support herself? How can she cope with the anxiety and fear of her ex husband finding her? And how can she rebuild her life when she lost so much of herself that she doesn’t even know who she is anymore.

This is a story about one woman’s journey to reclaim her life and to remember who she was and who she wants to become again. This was a very empowering story and for me personally I really enjoyed seeing Devorah’s journey to reclaim her life and find herself again.
