The first one was a 3.5 read for me. It is about a woman whose past defines her present. It bothered me that this seemingly successful woman hadn’t dealt with her 8 year old self yet and lived in such an extreme state for so long.
The second story was a 5 star read for me. A classic holiday romance.
Both stories were quick and easy to read and while the first wasn’t my cup of tea, it was still a well written story. review by @mauraharper

Every now and then I find myself lost in a novel that completely takes my breath away and makes me pause to re-evaluate my life and where I am in it. Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee definitely turned into one of those gems. I have not read anything by Terri Lee before this so I was not sure exactly what I would be getting myself into when I decided to give this book a go for the pure beauty that is the cover. I loved it and I am so glad that I did pick this up!
Lost in Carmel brings us the story of Natalie Hampton, a Hollywood star and pretty much America’s sweetheart. We get to see everything that comes with that title and all the dirty and dark secrets that often surround the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Things are not easy and she if faced with a lot of difficult life lessons that are of course complicated in general but then you add the extra issues of being in the spotlight and stuck to figure out how to navigate life feeling so very lonely. I adored this book and found myself reeling from the emotions from the very beginning to the gorgeous end. It was a nice little vacation to Rome as well and I loved the descriptions of the scenes that made me feel as if I was right there with Natalie. I look forward to seeing what else is available from Terri Lee while I anxiously await to see what will come out new from her as well!

Very good read. Bittersweet story. I left it feeling all was right in the world. In the beginning you see how fragile Natalie is. As you progress through the story, we see how she got there. In Lost In Carmel, Terri Lee gives us some foundational principles that a listening heart could use in their own life. Natalie faces many issues that most of us face, and hard decisions. Even though it’s just a story, it’s a story that imparts hope. Easy to read and fast paced. A bittersweet romance you will like.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I thought it was awesome! It was well written and had me on a roller coaster of emotions that I didn’t want to end! I gobbled up this story and I’ve been in a reading funk for a few days so this was the perfect story to bring me out of it! The characters are relatable and I was able to connect with them quickly. They’ve been hurt in the past and are in some serious need of some healthy healing. Hopefully they can come together and help each other out! Go get this story now so you can read it because I would absoutely recommend it!

Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee. From the description I was intrigued by this story. Once I dove in I knew I was in for a wonderful ride with our main character who takes quite the journey of life. This author knows how to write emotions that need to be felt while reading. I was definitely on a bit of an emotional roller coaster and absolutely loved every minute of it. The characters just pulled me in and I didn’t want to leave. The storyline came alive right before my eyes and even the smallest of details was covered. The storyline had me hooked and it’s written well. I’m giving this story a five star review and highly recommend it. I’ll definitely be looking for more from this wonderful author!

This is my third book by this author and once again I loved it..I think my favorite part right now is that I read it when the holidays are approaching and it seriously helped me get into the spirit. Of the two short stories I think Noelle’s Promise was my favorite. It was a story full of alot of feelings and my heart went out to her all the way through. Although quite short and I would have loved a lot more it still felt like a full and complete story. I loved how patient Logan was throughout and his family was awesome!
I also enjoyed Eve’s Hope but did not connect to that quite as easily, that one felt a bit rushed and before I knew it I was done..I think I’d have loved that had there been more story involved. I did really like the fact that one story focussed on Christmas and the other New Years.
I read this in one sitting and can not wait for more from this author.

Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee was emotional, raw, realistic, and wow. I was hooked by Natalie’s story. He retelling of her life was heart warming and tearful. As I read, I felt like I was in the room with her. Herr emotions were palpable and its almost as if I felt them right a long with her. I was amazed with the authors ability to portray these feelings from the pages of this book. I easily got lost in her work. This book was way more than I expected when I first picked it up. I was very impressed. It had an easy storyline that was organized and smooth. It was also descriptive and the author made it easy to visualize each scene. It was by far one of my favorite reads.

Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee is an emotional and completely relatable story. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to say I was so impressed with the way she crafted this story. It is so easy to look at the typical Hollywood lifestyle and assume you know it all. However this book takes a look at the darker side to it and really takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. It is so easy to connect with Natalie and empathise with that she is feeling. While she might be a star her feelings and her concerns are completely normal. I was impressed with this boll from start to finish and it has definitely whet my appetite for more books by this author.

Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee is an emotive period piece set in 1977. This emotive story focuses on the life of Hollywood Star and America’s Sweetheart, Natalie Hampton. She has risen to the top of the Hollywood ladder, child actor to movie star. Everyone loved her- until they turned on her. The price of fame you say. Well this story gives us an in-depth look at the ‘price tag’. What seems perfect, glamorous, and enviable- may not be all it’s cracked up to be. When Natalie’s life turns upside down, she flees to Italy to regroup, and find/rediscover her ‘true’ self- and unexpectedly, romance blossoms. But will it be the lasting, forever kind of love? Terri Lee knows just how to draw you in and keep you engaged. Adding drama and raw emotion to her story in just the right amounts to hold her readers attention right through to the end. This is the first book of hers that I have read, so I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. I can honestly say she has won me over with this wonderful piece of women’s fiction- and I will definitely be following her work from here on out. Terri Lee paints such rich and vibrant scenes. Bringing Hollywood, Italy, and Carmel to life. I was there with Natalie, experiencing all the sights and sounds- right alongside her.

Running in Snow: A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent is a super quick and easy read. The book is made up of two short stories set around Christmas and the New Year. I enjoyed both of these stories, and they were well written, but I wanted them to be longer, so I could fully immerse myself in them and find out more about the characters, backstories, and background information.
Noelle’s Promise Noelle has some really bad memories which centre around Christmas- so she decided a very long time ago that she would never celebrate the holiday ever again. But with boyfriend Logan now a huge part of her life- she has agreed to spend Christmas with him, AND his family. She is anxious about it all, especially when the festivities cause her memories and issues to bubble to the surface. Things come to a head and escape seems to be her only option. But she soon realises that she will continue to be stuck in the past and unable to embrace the future until she faces/deals with her past. A sweet story and emotive story!
Eve’s Hope Eve has major issues with New Year’s Eve, as she considers it jinxed. The unluckiest night of the year for her. So, the best thing to do is batten down the hatches and stay home. But you know what they say about the best laid plans… Circumstances soon have her accepting an invitation to her neighbor’s party- which she expects will be a flop. But is it? Will this be the New Year’s Eve that surprises her- the one that changes everything- the one that she will definitely remember? Well worth the read to find out.

Running In Snow – A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent comprises of two very, very short stories that are easy to read but both are heart wrenching to some degree. One is set around Christmas eve and the other New Years eve. They are we written but I would have liked to see them as longer stories.
Noelle’s Promise Noelle does not do Christmas but when she falls in love she tries hard. After fleeing a party she realises that she needs to deal with her past before she can move forward.
Eve’s Hope Eve hates New Years eve, nothing ever goes right for her so a night in it is but when she answers her door it turns out that this may actually be a night to remember.

Running in Snow by Renee Regent is a collection of two Christmas novellas. If you like holiday romance the. I would say these are great books to read. They are short but sweet reads that are bound to get you in the festive mood. I really enjoyed these books. I liked the fact that even though thy we were short it didn’t feel like the stories were lacking in anyway. The basis of them were great and I loved the main characters. Eve and Noelle were different to each other so it didn’t feel like a regurgitation of the same. This was a great read and a brilliant way to kick start my festive reading.

She actually does ok through the party until one family member gets a little loud and brings back bad memories from Noelle’s childhood. She runs out and leaves Logan, Lily and the other members of his family wondering why? In the second book Eve’s Hope, Eve doesn’t like Holidays either and of course this New Year’s Eve is no exception, her heat goes out. So against her better judgement she accepts her neighbors invite to his party. At least she gets to go to a warm house right? While she’s there she starts unloading on her neighbor. Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee is a raw and realist look into the life of a Hollywood star. It is engaging and brings to the surface many demons that I have fought in my own life. There are certainly a few tears to be shed as the story was very powerful for me. The life of a Hollywood film star looks glamourous from the outside but that is after we have seen the polished version in the magazines or films. Have you ever wondered what lurks beneath the surface of that smile, what their life is really truly like? Well Terri gives a look at what that is like and does not sugar coat it, all the dirty laundry is out there for all to see. I love the main characters and especially the best friend, he cracked me up each and every time. It is also a very passionate read that grabs you in the heart. Natalie Hampton a Hollywood it girl and America’s Darling, has been in the business since she was a young girl. She has seen it all, she has done it all and the world is her oyster. That is until it’s not. That is until it takes her to a dark, dark place. That place in the world where you wonder just who exactly you are. A place where you look at yourself in the mirror and go “who are you?” A place in the world where you have fallen in the dark hole and cannot see a way out. It is also a place that you start from to find the real you that has been so long forgotten. A place where you can learn to re-love yourself, to find your self-worth. A place from where you can find real love.
Rome is a beautiful and relaxing metropolis and I could picture vividly the words and world that Terri created for this wonderful story that left me captivated and reminiscing.

What a fantastic book! It was a wonderfully broad exploration of emotion that left me completely engrossed from beginning to end. Lee does a beautiful job with this book and creates a wonderful story that will leave the reader captivated. Absolutely will recommend this to others. I cannot wait to read it again!

Hoosier Dad By Elizabeth Seckman. This was my first book by this author but I’ll definitely be back for more. I’m a sucker for a coming back home second chance book, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint me. It’s a fun read and I absolutely loved the characters. The author does a a great job of drawing readers into the world of Sarah and Rich. I love everything about this book and can relate to it on a few levels. From page one I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters are complex and relatable, and their story jumps off the pages and comes alive. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Five stars all the way! And highly recommend it!

What a smart, sassy, fun read! I didn’t know what to expect from this new-to-me author. But boy did I love the ride Seckman took me on! The characters were relatable. The dialogue was smart. The story developed well and drew me in immediately. I simply loved it from the first page to the last and look forward to reading more from this author.

Hoosier Dad was a good 4 star read. This is a second chance romance that pulled me in right from the beginning.
Sarah is back in town to open her own law firm. Rich is a single dad who is looking for the right woman to be a mom to his girls.
When Rich first see’s Sarah he doesn’t recognize her, which rubs her the wrong way. He broke her heart years ago in school and he doesn’t even know who she is? When Rich’s ex wife threatens to take him to court to get full custody of the girls, Sarah offers to assist him with his case.
Both Rich and Sarah were hurt years before, can they get past those feelings and find each other again? As they spend more time together they start to let their walls down and grow close again.
Will they get their HEA?
Overall I enjoyed this story and the characters. All of the secondary characters were great, even the ones I didn’t like. I was done before I knew it. Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman is a well written contemporary romance that I found a delight in reading. Rich and Sarah broke each other’s hearts when they were young, and when they meet again, no matter how much they try not to like each other, it just doesn’t happen. Rich is now a single dad who is raising his two daughters after his ex-split. Now she is back and is saying she is going to take her kids. Sarah is a lawyer, and determined to whatever it takes so he doesn’t lose his girls. This was a good read and the first for me by this author and I was not disappointed. She has well developed characters and a strong story line. I love this read and highly recommend this four star read!

I was pleasantly surprised by this story, I’ll be honest I was afraid it would be a predictable type of storyline but it was in no way at all predictable.
I really appreciated that it wasn’t a normal second chance romance where they meet again and all is well. There was so much going on in this book and it was impossible to put down once I got settled in. I loved Sarah in every way, she was a tough take no prisoners attorney and literally did what she had to do in this story while going up against an evil ex and falling in love with the two girls who were the reason for the custody battle.
This is my first time reading anything by this author and I can promise it will not be the last, I loved her style and the flow of this story, you never really knew what was going to happen until it happened. That’s my favorite type of book!
Definitely looking forward to more from this author and I highly recommend this book.

Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman is a second chance romance that is fun and light hearted story that was also witty and charming. I enjoy Elizabeth’s writing style and read the book in one sitting. I also found it to be a refreshing and clever read. The story flowed well and the journey the characters took was full of emotions and heat, heart and soul, passion and drama and they were palpable and very vivid. This is my first read by Elizabeth and I really enjoyed it. It has all the ingredients that makes it a feel good read that has you laughing out loud at times. Elizabeth has a way with words that make it not only fun but it is also witty and interesting, mysterious at times and oh so steamy.The story is told in dual POV’s which I love love love and we get to see where each character comes from and it gives so much more depth to the story. Lets just say that with differing POV’s it definitely made the story more enjoyable and at times completely outrageous.
Sarah has come back to town and comes face to face with the man who didn’t just break her heart he stomped on it but when he is in need of help she offers straight away and what she finds is nothing like what she left behind.
Rich is on the lookout for a wife. His expectations are outrageous and made me laugh so hard. When his ex causes trouble he turns to the one person who doesn’t like him but what he finds is something he never thought would happen.

Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman was a fun, light hearted, witty read that had me hooked from that first opening sentence.
My first read by this author I didn’t know what I was getting into, and lets just say, I liked it, I liked it a lot. This book was, as I said, super fun, witty, interesting, mysterious, steamy, weirdly outrageous, and just, full of though good feels that have you going, why isn’t this a movie?!. I have such a fun time with both MC’s, told in dual POV we get both of their sides of the story, and I loved how both were on completely different pages. It made room for growth, second chances, and change. Also made for some pretty fun lol moments.
I have to say, I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did, as the synopsis had me thinking it would be pretty mediocre. But this author proved me wrong and truly delivered a wonderful, smart, fresh read that not only flowed, it had heart, passion and you could feel the emotions oozing off the pages. It was like I was watching a real life drama unfold, and it was glorious.
So to end on that high note, I’m going to leave you with my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.

Hoosier Dad was a really enjoyable read. It is one of those stories that is just really easy to read and I found myself easily dragged into what I was reading and the story of Sarah and Rich. There was a good level of drama running throughout the story which I think was fuelled by the small town gossiping and a couple of secondary characters! The main characters were really likeable and they certainly had a good amount of chemistry, I think I anticipated a little more romance however I think how they interacted with each other did fit in with their past relationship. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I don’t think it will be the last. I liked the simplicity of the story it was nice to read a storyline that wasn’t overly complex. It was a great contemporary romance that I would definitely recommend!
