I loved this story. It was very emotional from the first sentence. I did get a bit confused and frustrated towards the three quarters of the way mark in the story. But this book will take you on a ride, full of twists, heartaches, hope, and so much more. Logan and Victoria’s love is so much more than anyone could ever want. To hold out so long for one person will break your heart and fix it all in one.

Zach threatens to take Victoria away but Logan stays close to Victoria until one day she disappears without a trace. Logan spends the next twelve years trying to find Victoria, but when he does will she still be the girl he remembers?
I liked both characters, Logan is fully focused on finding Victoria again This was a bit different then what I was expecting, a bit darker. I think overall it was an entertaining read.

This was the most intense of all the books. Arcelia finds out that not everything or everyone is as she thinks. The secrets around her family are quite large and the lies are many. Roderick is trying to be the best boyfriend and has his own issues to take care of. I found the story to be well-written. I loved the details and the characters. The substory around the hair was quite fascinating. The role of women in this story was interesting to see. Though they had issues that had some with lies and secrets, others were strong and brave. It’s always nice to see strong women in a story. The flow was smooth. My favorite part was Celia standing up to her family. I believe that took a lot of courage. This is a must read. Because the story is a continuation of the first two books, I do suggest you read it in order.

Continuing to learn that there are more secrets, lies, and betrayals, Princess Arcelia and Prince Rodderick continue on their adventures to better their countries and lives. This world that the author has created is very interesting as it’s a mix between a modern and a futuristic world full of hybrid beings. Princess Arcelia is determined to find out more about her mother and her deeds and begins to find out that things are nothing like she thought. There are many twists and turns in this one, making it hard to put it down!

This is the third book in the fantasy series featuring Prince Rodderick of Diar and his girlfriend, Princess Arcelia. It would be best to read these books in order as there is a lot of background information that is essential to understanding the progression of the story being told.
There continues to be a lot of family drama, more secrets, adventures and betrayal. This time, the Space Acolyte Caro is missing. She is beholden to the help from Time, Life, and Death, as well as assistance from Rodderick to escape her captors and restore order.
This is a fast paced read that will be hard to put down and I’m excited to read the next installment of this fantasy adventure series!

I highly recommend reading this series in order. If you are unable to for some reason, at least read the first three short stories in book 1 before proceeding to read this one or future books. Having a background in the different types of beings and how they present will be vital to your understanding of this story. The background from book 1 will also help tremendously.
Rodderick is teaming up with his brother Rayden to try to prevent massive destruction all for nothing. Rayden has a history of drug abuse and doesn’t have the best relationship with his siblings but sees the need to try to mend fences for the sake of the country and his family. There are so many secrets that are being kept within and from the family and these secrets are causing decisions to be made that probably shouldn’t be.
This book has a bit more adventure than the first one and will keep you turning the page to find out more! Also, check out the cover art on this one. It’s brilliantly gorgeous and really drew me into reading this series!

Told from multiple points of view, this story is about Rodderick, who is the Prince of Diar. He is an Acolyte of Time as well as a dragon/human hybrid.
This story is full of adventure that is happening around Rodderick and his country of Diar. His dad, Demon King Ryder, has been thought to be dead all these years. However, Rodderick finds out that this is not so. This poses a bit of a problem because King Ryder would like nothing more than to have Rodderick dead.
Rodderick and Princess Arcelia are forced to go into hiding to prevent King Ryder from finding them. Rodderick has a lot more to learn about his country and isn’t get much help from his drunk mother to learn important things he needs to know.
This was a super fun book to read about hybrid creatures, princes, princesses, kings, queens, war, and lots of family drama! It was an entertaining afternoon for sure!!

The Finding (Berrycreek Heights Series Book 1) is a YA/ Thriller that is packed with suspense, action, drama,violence, secrets, pain and so much more. This is this authors debut novel and holy cow I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. I was pulled in from the beginning and found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I will warn you there may be some parts that might be a trigger for some but I recommend reading through it if you can. The characters are raw ,creative and developed. Get ready to be taken on quite the emotional journey. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this Author in the near future.

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more in the future. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. An engaging story about Logan and his trip into the dark world of abuse, violence and a twelve year old that is in need of saving. I enjoyed Logan’s character and what his character brought to the story. This is a fast paced, engaging story that has twists and turns that are like no other. I enjoyed watching the growth of the plot as well as the characters throughout the story. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to see what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.

Engaging This was a new find for me and I really enjoyed the storyline and writing. The author delivered a story with interwoven themes that kept me totally focussed until the end. With YA romance, suspense, drama, mystery, great character building and some darker factors all twisted together I was enthralled. A very talented author that I am looking forward to reading more from. Highly recommend.

The Finding is the first book in the Berrycreek Heights series and debut novel by A.M. Porto. This is a superb YA/NA romantic suspense with dark tones, tragedy, secrets, pain, heartache, danger, agendas, intrigue, emotion, twists, chemistry, violence, obsession, and more. There are some darker subject matters/themes through the story that might be triggering for some readers, so if you have triggers, please be aware of this before diving in… This book grabbed me right from the get-go, and when I was done, I went looking for more from the author, as I hadn’t read anything by them before…. and was even more impressed to discover that this is the authors debut novel. I wasn’t expecting something so engrossing and polished to be a debut novel. If this compelling book is anything to go by, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of A.M. The Sisterhood of Secrets is the fourth book in The Gods’ Scion series by Winnifred Tataw. As this follows from previous books I highly recommend reading the first three books before starting on this one- as there is a continuing storyline here with important information contained in the previous books that you should know in order to avoid feeling a little lost or confused in any way. This is a fantasy adventure with action, secrets, twists, emotion, sci-fi elements, gods, magic, betrayal, danger, mystery, mythology, astrology, powers, intrigue, interesting world-building, romance, and complex characters. Ms. Tataw certainly turned up the tension in this story, putting her characters, and me, through some intense moments- making this instalment the best of the bunch. As I have mentioned with the previous books, Ms. Tataw has created an intricate world with unique characters, lore, culture, and beliefs. There are magical, fantasy, and sci-fi elements, which are all woven around things we are more familiar with- which makes the story all the more believable and relatable. I also appreciated the substantial reference guide at the end of the book, which was full of interesting and helpful information. What has Ms. Tataw got planned for us next? Happy Reading…

This is the first book in the Berrycreek Heights series and the first I know of from this author. Please be aware of the triggers before reading this book as there are themes present which may not be suitable for everyone.
This book is dark, but I loved it. It was written well, and the plot is different from anything I’ve read recently. It has stayed with me even after finishing it and I’m sure it will be that way for a while. It’s suspenseful and has you unable to tear your eyes away with the need to know what happens next. There were points I genuinely didn’t know what the outcome would be and I was so emotionally invested, I wasn’t sure I could handle it. This book was able to play on my emotions more than I initially expected and I’m so impressed by that as although I get emotionally invested, I don’t usually get physically emotional in the way this book affected me.
I can’t wait for the second book of the series is it’s going to be even half as good as this one.

A different tale as she combines astrology, mythology, magic and much more. Her work is vividly descriptive where criminal organisations, a murderer, clairvoyants, archangels and the God of Life reside. Magical Realism and Urban Fiction meet in this interesting fast-moving story that is full of threats, action and drama, secrets and twists, lies and broken dreams and promises, betrayal and greed, hopes and dreams. Its the story of Victoria and Logan who meet at a very young age and fall in love quite young as well. Victoria’s mom dies when she is very young and she is left to be raised by her step dad Zach a raging alcoholic who also abuses her. Logan is determined to protect Victoria at all costs but doesn’t realize how severe the abuse is. Everyone knows how horrible the situation is but are not sure what to do about it, they are just kids. As they grow older they start to have deeper feelings for one another and as soon as they fall in love Zach and Victoria disappear leaving Logan desperate to find her and down a black road filled with violence and sadness. When he finally finds her and finds out all the things she’s been thru it will take everything in Logan to not do the unthinkable. This is a dark, sad, love story that is probably happening to people all around us without us knowing.

The Finding is the first book in the Berrycreek Heights series. It is a YA thriller that centers around the characters of Victoria and Logan and told from each of their POV. The two first met when Victoria was five years old, and Logan was aged seven. The two were neighbors and became fast friends, spending almost all their time together. Victoria’s mom passed away when she was young, and she was left with her abusive, alcoholic stepfather Zach. As Victoria got older, she reminded Zach more and more of her mom and he became increasingly more violent towards her. Logan swore to protect her but when the unthinkable happens he feels tremendous guilt, sadness, and remorse for being unable to protect Victoria when she needed him the most. Twelve years go by, and Logan has never stopped thinking about Victoria or what happened to her. He has never stopped looking and vows to seek out justice for those responsible. Will Logan ever find out what really happened to Victoria?
The author did a phenomenal job with this story, and it captured my attention from the first few pages. I was riveted by the storyline and unable to put it down until I completed it. The characters are wonderfully written, lovable, and relatable. Victoria is sweet, kind, loving, smart, and courageous. The abuse that she suffers at the hands of her stepfather and numerous others is deplorable and unimaginable. It made me cringe to read as she was subjected to horrific things that no person should ever have to endure. Yet, despite it all she never gives up and continues going. Victoria is a fighter who never gives up hope and looks to a brighter future away from the abuse and cruelty. Logan is sweet, kind, loving, and courageous. He has loved Victoria since practically the first moment he met her. He made it his mission to protect her from harm and keep her safe. When Logan feels that he failed at that he vows to find out what happened to her. After twelve years he never gives up, even though many others would have given up searching for answers. It was heartbreaking to think about how helpless Logan felt to protect the woman he loved and how he felt that he had let her down. It is heartwarming to see that the love between Victoria and Logan still holds strong no matter the time or distance. Their story really pulled at my heartstrings, and it took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Their story was filled with love, loss, betrayal, grief, sorrow, abuse, tragedy, drama, and suspense. I seriously cannot recommend this book enough! Looking forward to reading more by this author!

The Sisterhood of Secrets is Book Four in The Gods’ Scion series. It is a YA fantasy book and part of a series that I recommend you read prior to reading this one. This author has a unique and beautiful writing style that is well worth reading. The author immediately immerses you in the lives of Arcelia and Prince Rodrick, who were an unlikely union from the beginning. Their romance and nuptials inspired many but left others feeling envious and betrayed. I immediately felt a connection to the characters and felt myself rooting for them. They may have come from two different worlds as far as money, culture, and upbringings but they found each other and fell in love despite the odds. Their love and devotion to one another was inspiring. As we follow Arcelia and Rodrick’s journey, we are taken through a world full of secrets that leave Arcelia questioning all that she knows about those she loves. This book takes some twists and turns that will keep you reading until the end to find out what happens next. I highly recommend this fast-paced book full of secrets, lies, betrayals, broken promises, danger, intrigue, mystery, suspense, action, and the moral dilemma of right versus wrong.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is the fourth book in this series which I highly suggest reading as well. They will help with your enhancement of this series as well as this author’s writing skills. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story of secrets and will take you on an adventure in the world of fantasy. The characters are strong, creative and connectable. I enjoyed how they pulled me into the story from the start and kept my attention to the end. They will make you question your morals for right and wrong. They made the story realistic for me and had me wanting to know more. I enjoyed what they added to the story. I enjoyed the growth of the plot which made it easy to read and entertaining as well. This is a story you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

This book is one that I walked about thinking about after every reading session. There was hope, tears, celebrations and the gut wrenching realization that this is real for so many today. The story is told through a penpal relationship between two girls – one in America and one in Africa. Two girls, with two very different lives that learn they can have a voice to make a difference. There were times in this story that I was faced with big feelings knowing that so many go without the basic necessities like water, education and a childhood – while many take having these things for granted. I was glad there was a positive outcome even in the shadow of sorrow – and I will remember the power of raising one’s voice!

What an incredibly thought inducing tale. As a university student I was intrigued having studied historical culture, cultural anthropology and indigenous studies but this really sucked me in. Such a powerful tale that was so well put together. I was honestly sad when I came to the last page. Superb job to the author. Highly, highly recommended 👌

This novella was both inspiring and defeating. With the actual history of this time period matching up with the brutality toward native people, it was heartbreaking to read about this warrior girl’s coming of age while the bluecoats close in on her village and the suffering of her people. But her resolve and immense strength in such dire circumstances was also inspiring and awe-striking. This is a hauntingly beautiful story that makes me want to read more about the people of this time. Looking forward to the next novella in this series!

Such a great read that’s so richly detailed. A beautiful way to pay homage to such a beautiful culture. The way the story unfolds with loss then love blossoming and enduring like a desert flower. With a strong female lead that learns to adapt to her new life with a long lost grandfather thunder makes her way in the world battling her own trials within herself and amongst her peers / rivals.
Highly recommended for those who are enthralled and love the complexity yet simplicity of Native American culture

What a beautiful story! Neyah lives in Africa and Abby lives in America. Though they are in two different worlds, they are brought together and realize they have more in common than they thought. The girls work together to find a solution to change their worlds.
This emotional journey shows the power of coming together, even far apart. Have your tissues ready for the mixed emotions of joy and sadness! I cried happy tears, and I cried sad tears. It was fun to see the characters grow as they came to understand one another. Their strength and determination are awe-inspiring. Your preteen, teen, or young adult would love this book!

The author had great details and you could visualize the landscapes she was describing. The dates used, the late 1870s, there were a lot of Indian wars happening. Being raised by my grandmother I heard stories that were passed down to her from parents and grandparents about boarding schools, not being able to speak their native language, and getting their hair chopped off. I was fortunate enough to have a history teacher that gave us more than a chapter or a few paragraphs from a text book about these wars. Yes, there are many books out there where you can learn about certain wars but I feel like there was nothing better than hearing what my ancestors had to go through for me to be here today. I especially enjoyed Thunder being able to become a warrior as it was rare for a girl or woman to do so. She was such a strong character and I could only imagine the emense strength it took for her to not give in and forget everything about her language and culture. The only fault I found with this book was the abrupt ending. I do realize it was meant to be short since it’s a novella but it kind of caught me off guard. Talks Like Thunder by far has been one of the most emotionally stimulating stories that I have ever read. I wept for a while after finishing it. The pain that colonialism has caused native Americans and other people of color is sickening. I am an African American woman who has traces of Native American in my family. To think that my ancestors suffered like this on all sides rattles me to my core. I believe this book needs to be on the high school reading list although I’m sure there’s be those against it. This story would serve to remind us all to embrace our differences in culture and love one another while honoring those who fought for that right. Although the story ended abruptly without us knowing Thunders fate I am hoping it will circle back by the time the series is over.

Talks Like Thunder is easily the most powerful and emotionally charged book I have read in quite some time. I was heartbroken and enraged reading this, but that usually means the writers are doing a phenomenal job. While this is a quicker read, you will be taken aback by the amount of detailed storytelling that the authors are able to pull off seamlessly. The flow of the story is amazing, you root for some characters while silently loathe others. I can’t think of anything that I would change about this novella. I am pleased to see that it is only the first in the series, so I will unquestionably pick up the others as well. I highly recommend picking this one up. It isn’t in my normal range of everyday books, but I would have certainly regretted passing on it!
