My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Santa’s Little Helper by Shaan Ranae is a very short, novella sized, holiday romance.
I don’t want to spoil the story by giving away too much- because the story is so short it would be easy to give away too much. Jacob Laurel (Jake) has taken up the reigns of the family department store from his father upon his retirement. He hopes to make the business the ‘powerhouse’ that it could become.
With Christmas fast approaching, their store is amongst the many that have an ‘in-house’ Santa for families and children to visit in the lead up to Christmas. With people due to arrive to see Santa, there is a bit of an ‘emergency’ when their ‘Santa’ is unable to do the job. They need a replacement , and quickly. But on such short notice that’s impossible. So, it falls on Jake to put on the suit and play Santa. What happens when he meets Santa’s Little Helper? Sparks fly and the fun begins!
This is a sweet, spicy, funny, and enjoyable light-hearted story. I would have preferred a longer version, so the story had time to develop a bit more depth.
I look forward to exploring some of Ms. Ranae’s other work, as this is my first read from her, to see what else she can do.

Thank you, Ms. Ranae!
