The Lies We Tell by Brittany Butler – Review by Sarah Oakes

The Lies We TellThe Lies We Tell by Brittany Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great read about lies. Natalie Conner ran away for a life as an author. Life is good to her with fame and new friends. She even falls in love again with new friend Collin but when life with Collin begins to turn sour, will she run away again?
A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like the sarcastic but sensitive Natalie or Collin’s harsh exterior but kind underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like fun friend Tabatha or the humorous Jack.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the contrasts between a quiet home and busy spaces like coffee shops or the dinner scenes which was brilliantly written.
The jumps between past and present was a brilliant idea to show how things had changed and was fairly easy to follow. The only issue I would raise is that there was some repetition and long sentences in places. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
