Luke (Dark Water Security Series Book 1) by Madison Quinn 4 stars
This was a first read for me by this author and I really enjoyed her writing style. We follow 2 teens who go through a horrific time and then we go to the future and where they are now. While kind of predictable, I still enjoyed this story for what it was and how the characters were developed and where they went with their lives. I look forward to more in this series!

Rules of Engagement: A Single Dad Romance (Platonically Complicated Book 3) By Mika Jolie Rated 5 stars
I was so excited to see this! I loved the first two in the series and couldn’t wait to see if Cam or Luc got a story! My prayers have been answered and this is Lucas’ (Luc). It is a best friend to lovers and add the component of a single dad in there. Kids always make things different and this is no exception. This one is told from Lucas’ POV. He isn’t as harsh as Dean was in his book. I’m guessing it’s because the Dad in him mellowed everything out a bit. There are many great moments and it was nice seeing Cori, Dean and Cam again. Cam was such a little instigator. He is fun and full of wit. I enjoyed what he called Lucas’ ex-wife!! So funny! What a great friend! A couple of my favorite lines from the story:
“Men might wear the pants but the women control the zipper”
“We are all imperfectly perfect and beauty begins within”
When I started Chapter 38 I couldn’t help the smile that came over my face. Now don’t skip ahead but just know what is waiting for you when you get there.
I enjoy reading Mika Jolie’s stories. She is a one-click author for me. With that being said I didn’t love this as much as Dean/Cori’s, at least until the ending. That ending was wonderful! At times I could see the connection these two have. Looking back…overall it’s a great addition to the series and I eagerly look for the next book. Or really any book by this author :-).

Movie Star by Pamela DuMond is a great addition to her series 21st Century Courtesan. To be honest I was thinking that this series was going to be a new romance series, which is not my most favorite genre, I was really wrong. Ms. DuMond has written a new romance series, but there are so many angles that it has a bracket all of it own in my genre lists. The characters are amazing and the story line is fully develop and keeps bringing me back to the story when I think I have figured out some of the mysteries going on with the story. This book is the continuation of Evie but has added Jake the movie star in for some flair. It appears as if Jake has been taken back and Evie is not sure why he feels that way. She decides to help Jake and that is when everything comes forward. Will Evie help Jake and will Jake help Evie back?

Rainy Day Lovers was a great book from start to finish. The characters were great and the plot was great. It all started in 2001 when Raina was witness to a homeless guy around her age was getting attacked. He wasn’t only homeless but he was in some sort of horrific accident by the look of his face. Raina saved the young man and took him to get something to eat. Then gave him money and some good advise. She told Robbie to go speak with a friend of hers and she knew if given the chance she knew he would make the best of it. All because of Raina, Robbie stepped in to help a man being robbed in a park one night and his life changed.
Fifteen years later Raina and Robbie ( who now goes by Roman ) somehow meet again. Roman has a new face and is a plastic surgeon. All things happen for a reason. Fate stepped in and did the right thing in this book about second chance meetings / romances. Roman keeps his past hidden to Raina and doesn’t tell her that he was the homeless guy she helped all those years ago. What will happen when the truth comes out. This book was such a sweet read. I love Roman. He’s just an all around great guy and I believe he was given that second chance at a happy life because of his run in with Raina.

Vortex by Kimberly Packard is a book unlike any I had read before. The plot was different from most of the books I have read recently and that captures my attention and kept me hooked. Part of what had me so fascinated with this book is that I just couldn’t imagine anything that would prompt me to do what Elaine does. And yet at the same time I felt like I was right there with her making those decisions, chasing all those storms. This book takes you on such an emotional journey. It’s been a while since I had to “sit” for a while once finishing a book but this one I certainly had to. An absolutely brilliant read I couldn’t recommend this more.
Infamy (Feisty Lawyers #2) By Seelie Kay Rated 3 stars
If you like reading stories that are full of alphabets this one is for you. What does she mean? Well FBI, CIA, MISix for a few. That leads to multiple characters working or knowing someone who works in one or more of these. This one is a story that involves all the characters we met in the last book as well as a few new ones. There is a lot of activity and some downtime for the couples. This doesn’t really follow one couple. It follows more of a group. This is a little difficult at times. Too many people and too many secret/not secret titles. It can be confusing to read trying to follow each character, what group they are associated with, what qualifications they have and why/how they are attached to the rest. I liked the beginning but once they got to the house I was overwhelmed with characters and credentials. I made a list to try to keep track. There is some humor and briefly crazy sexy times. The connection between some of the characters was good. Hope seems to be a handful and I’m pretty sure she will get her way on her future. Anyway this is an ok read for me. I had too many struggles to be interested to read more stories.

Beneath the Surface, book three in the Gray Ghost novel series, by Amy McKinley. This amazing read was filled with love, suspense, and mystery in one. From page one till the end the book kept me engaged and I did not want to put it down. The main characters, Hannah and Jack were such a delight to read about. Hannah, strong and independent to Jack who shows that he truly wants to help those that feel lost and so alone.
Hannah finds herself and her boss on a hijacked plane carrying a secret weapon, finally sees that this is her time to no longer be a sleeper agent. Mike, who is on a mission to recover the weapon refuses to leave his ex Hannah behind. So many things point to Hannah being a traitor Jack must decide whom to trust but in the end it could be his career that he kills.
This book kept me guessing till the last page and I love that about this series and this author. McKinleys books have always been ones that I needed and wanted to finish in one sitting. I give this read 5 stars and highly recommend this book and her whole series!
Nothing But Trouble (Irresistible Billionaires Book 1) By Ashley Bostock. Call me silly but I’m a sucker for a good Billionaire story. And this one definitely checked all my boxes. The characters are complex and relatable each having a story to tell readers. I was completely hooked from page one and couldn’t stop until the end. The author takes readers on a bit of an emotional ride but it’s worth it. I’ve read others by this author and this one is one I love just as much. I can’t wait to read more. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it.

Sol does not have a choice in the matter, it’s the only way her family can survive. Her mother keeps saying that at least she will be well fed and warm all winter, but Sol knows better. The king is a cruel, evil man. With what little time she has left, she escapes to the woods she loves so dear. There she meets a man who says his name is the same as the infamous monster who haunts these woods. She doesn’t believe him, but it doesn’t matter. He makes her feel wonderful, in every way. She knows this is short lived, soon she will have to give up this wonderful dream. But she wants it to never end.
This was a wonderful paranormal romance book. It is hot and heavy at times, but there is so much more. There is the impending doom Sol is facing. Plus there is her family, struggling to survive after tragedy. Yes, para romance has been done many times, and mythology has been often used for creating characters. But this author uses Norse mythology, which is one of the lesser used ones. I find this very refreshing. Plus it shows so much about Sol. I would love to learn more about Fenris in future books.
If you like your paranormal romance with hot and heavy scenes, but with a creature you are not too familiar with, this book is for you.

Luke by Madison Quinn is the first book in the Dark Water Security series and it’s also my first book by this author, but it certainly won’t be my last. From the very first chapter I was hooked, I was completely captivated by the storyline that I quickly forgot about the real world and ended up reading this book in one sitting. This story is intense, detailed, emotional and action-packed, there was always something going on that kept me on my toes.
I loved how this storyline flowed from the past to the present, it made it easy to connect with these characters and made it for an entertaining read! I can’t wait to dive into my next book by this author and would absolutely recommend it to others!

How do you live with so much pain inside you? To know betrayal and anger at a young age. To want murder and blood on your conscious and hands. Han was made to be hard and unforgiving. Trained to kill and move with silence. Then came the cracks the people who went through her walls. Life may make you hard but it’s the people around you that determine if you stay that way. I really like this story it shows many sides to people and how they affect your life. The author did really well with the story line and characters. Jack is perfect for Han. Wow I really had to step away for a moment after finishing this book. My emotions were all over the place. In fact while reading I ran through some crazy feelings. This is an amazing book that has many front facing features. I assumed it was about storm chasers (which it is) but there are other sides that come forward that had me whirling around trying to figure them out. I loved the idea of this book. It’s about the ultimate thrill that is crazy and scary as heck. Not everyone can or should do it.
What did I love about this? Besides everything?? Here are some specifics. The way the author referred to clouds and tornadoes as a child in the womb and then being born. Taking its first wobbly step as it gains confidence. Crazy how that is so true! The t-shirts that the MC wears. Such attention to detail…I loved it. The relationships that were built, the MC was smart and knowledgeable with a side of sassy, and her dog!!! For Pete’s sake I almost forgot Nimbus! He is a wonderful side character!
I literally could not put this book down. It opens with a bang and keeps going all the way through. This is not my first Kimberly Packard book and it won’t be the last. She know how to weave a story and write strong yet comfortable characters. If you want a thrill ride with attachment to the characters? Pick this one up!
To learn to trust again is really difficult. After someone violates you in some form. Jenny is so brave. She didn’t give up. I’m excited to get into another series by this author. I like reading about the characters in the background of other books. Especially characters like Brian. The guy is a complete mystery. I really enjoyed this story and I know the next will be just as good. The characters do a lot of growing in this story. Even with all the tragedy and danger. Shattered by Via Mari is the first book in the Torial Affair series which also a spin off of the Prestian Series. I highly recommend you read that series first though this can be read as a stand alone.
There is some overlap from the end of the first series time wise but it’s a very different story since we are following Jenny and Brian which I really enjoyed. I liked the different prospective and finding out more details on the trauma Jenny endured and how Brian was involved with protecting her and more.
Jenny moved up my list of amazingly strong female characters quite a bit as I was reading all she has done and experienced at a very young age. After feeling like I knew her as Katerina’s best friend I got to know her as an individual and I’m so glad I did.
We start to see Brian’s carefully placed walls start to crumble the more he learns about Jenny. We also find out what makes him tick, his pain and happiness from childhood and how dominant he really is.
I throughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to get to the next one and see what happens.

It has been a while since I read a Mika Jolie novel and I forgot how much I enjoyed them. This was a page turner from the start. It centres around the intriguing story of Lucas (the aforementioned single dad) and his best friend Kate. Both burned by previous relationships, they deny their mutual attraction and stay just friends. When Lucas’ ex-wife tries to gain custody of their daughter, Kate offers her help in an unexpected way. Being a fake fiancé is one thing but what happens when the attraction threatens to take over..? The attraction between the two main characters leapt off the page. Before they were even together, their innermost thoughts were displayed for the reader and we knew they should be a couple, even if they didn’t! This was a thrilling modern romance set in New York which I loved. The characters were well drawn and believable, the love scenes intimate but not over the top. I was racing through it but didn’t want it to be over. 4.5

A Suitable Affair is book one in the Macalisters series by Erica Taylor. Another new author I get to discover. I am always eager to read new and exciting stories. Words are my passion. Reading makes my soul happy. I cherish the feeling of excitement I get when reading a good story. You can tell that a little something special is added by an author that exists just to provide stories to the world. It seems there is no limit to these creative marvels.
Lady Susan wants to be married. Ian cannot escape the darkness. An unlikely coupling, can they beat the odds? This story was hauntingly beautiful and written with precision and perfect detail. The characters were multi faceted, with varying idiosyncrasies and vast differences, all coming together to compliment, contribute and satisfy. There were unexpected twists to this story, so readers really do get more than they could imagine. A tale that never disappointed, and always delivered exceptionally. 5 stars.

This was a very interesting book. I do not think i have ever read anything like it. It was a Suspenseful dark comedy that had all kinds of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I have to admit that it did take a little while to get into the story but as soon as it picked up i couldn’t put it down. The characters were funny and man do i want one of those GIANT Cinderella coffee cups that Ann liked to drink out of. She “dreams” of a new life without her husband and has to decide if she should come clean to him about the “dream” she had of him dying. She has to decide if she wants the life that she is living or if she should pack it up and go live her life somewhere else. This was a fun interesting read and i would recommend it a friend. 5 Star A Suitable Affair ( The Macalisters Book 1) by Erica Taylor is a historical romance that once I started reading I had a hard time putting it down. I like this author’s style of writing and her ability to grab your attention and keeps it till the end. The characters are very well developed and made me feel like I was right there with them. There are a couple twist and turns that had me turning the pages trying to figure out what happens next. This is a must read and I highly recommend it. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Pandora’s Poison (Hart & Cole Book 2) Sacha T.Y. Fortune 5 out of 5 stars
Pandora’s Poison is the page turning, second book in the Hart and Cole series. I really enjoyed the second installment in this series, even more than Climbing the Walls. I would recommend reading these books in order to get a full picture of the storyline and to get to know the characters in depth. This series has done an excellent job drawing me in and showing the complexities of adult relationships. Without ruining the story at all it’s difficult to write a review that does this story justice. The characters are raw and real and the story has so much emotion behind it. I’m truly looking forward to reading on in the series. Pandora’s Poison is definitely a 5 star read and the Hart & Cole series is definitely something you won’t want to miss out on.

Jenny and Brian’s story continues. Jenny is such a strong woman. Even with all she must indore. Brian has a great stress reliever, in the bedroom. Thankfully she has not only Brian, but a whole team that protect her. As she continues to fight for her life, in and out of the court house.
Via Mari continues to impress me with her writing. Her characters are so likeable, and her story is a real page turner. I was drawn in on page one and yelled on the last page. Her story got so intense as well as Hot in the bedroom. Now I can’t wait for book 3! Well done Via Mari!!

MOVIE STAR (21st Century Courtesan Book 2) By Pamela DuMond. Once again I was drawn into a story by this author. I do recommend reading these books in order to fully understand and enjoy the series. The author writes a story that flows nicely and never felt rushed or lacking anything. The characters are complex and believable. I really liked book 1 and the author did an equally great job of writing this one. Even with a lot going on in this story I never felt lost in it all day, the author does a wonderful of keeping readers both clear on details and engaged throughout all the things happening. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read more.

The Future Memoir of Ann Jones by Alex Bailey is such a fun read! It brightened my spirits while getting over the flu! I loved how the author starts this book with a kooky postcard! I feel like I could be best friends with Ann. This book was relatable at times and made me laugh quite a bit. I will definitely looking into what else Alex Bailey has written.

The Future Memoir of Ann Jones was a great 5 star read. This was a different storyline than I’m used to with a little bit of magic and travel through time and I really enjoyed it.
It took me a little bit to get into the story but than I couldn’t put it down. We meet Ann who has visions about her future. She is a widow who joins a knitting club that had some very interesting members and rules.
I really don’t want to say much more and give away things about this great story. There were several twists and turns that pulled me right in. I really liked all of the characters, some gave me LOL moments. I really liked Ben and how he pursued Ann, he wasn’t going to give up. I felt like we got several different stories and it was great. Alex Bailey does a great job of pulling you in with her writing and telling a great story. I look forward to reading more from her.

Pandora’s Poison is an amazing addition to the Hart and Cole series. It can be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading the first book to have background on several supporting characters. I loved Darren, Luisa, and Gianni. They were all very interesting and had great personalities. The storyline was easy to follow and I literally could not put this novel down. I also had a hard time picking a favorite between Darren and Luisa. They were both amazing in their own way and dedicated to their family even if one had not spent as much time with the kids before. Luisa really is a supermom and I loved reading all the things she has balanced to take care of her family and hide her little secret. Sacha Fortúne has done a magnificent job with this book and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Luke (Dark Water Security Series Book 1) by Madison Quinn was an raw emotional book, that will get you right in the heart.
My first read by this author, and well, I’m going to be honest this book could have been much more. Now the writing isn’t bad, it was pretty solid and had a nice flow. Told in dual POV we get inside both Luke’s and Emily’s head. Something I’ve always loved when dealing with darker, psychological books. I did kind of prefer Luke’s voice, I found him to have more emotions, and witnessing his change mentally from that first chapter onwards, is something to give this book praise for. His character development was exponential, and it really stole the show.
Now let’s get into why I have mixed feelings about this book. The beginning is dark, heart clenching and nightmare fuel. It isn’t for the faint of heart and there are scenes that may be triggering to some readers. Since the synopsis gives it away this isn’t a spoiler. Luke plans an escape, they get out, and, I’m not going to say anymore on that, cause that will be a spoiler. So after this escape the books slows down, and after such an intense opening, that sudden pace change throws off your reading momentum. Looking back now, it’s not that everything after was dull, it was just made that way because of the way the opening is written. Also it takes way too long for Luke and Emily to get their shit/feelings together, again throwing off the pace.
This book read like two in one, and I think that’s what it should be. The opening should be its own book, like a novella, then the events afterwards should be its own story. I believe doing that will give more focus to Luke and Emily, as well as the two other subplots, that didn’t get as much attention, or hype because of that brutal opening.
Overall this is a good book, it has amazing character development, detail and info placement. It will draw you in, that opening alone will keep you reading just so you feel at ease with Luke and Emily. It’s a need, a desperate need to know that they’ll be okay, that they’re going to be okay. You’ll get attached to them, and even with the pacing issues you will still find yourself engrossed in this book.
So please take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will be holding your breath, flipping the pages, and have you wishing you could save them.

The author took a different way in telling this story, the method was interesting and fun. From the characters, to the setting/locale, to the unusual events that unfold, this story captures the reader and carries them on the journey with Ann Jones as her life changes in ways that are unexpected. What is this knitting club? That is one of the questions that comes with this story as the author leads us from one thing to another. A unique story with wittiness abound, Alex Bailey provides the unexpected in the most interesting of the ways.

SHATTERED is a spinoff of The Prestian Series and I enjoyed the continuing threads from the first series. I’m not sure I would have been as understanding of it and the complex world surrounding the main characters if I hadn’t read the first series.
The story is written in such a way that I found myself questioning what was going on. I started to side with outsiders for a few minutes because they made a great case (I know this doesn’t make sense, but you will understand it when you read the book). THAT IS THE SIGN OF A GOOD STORY… My wavering faith in the “truth” kept me turning the pages.
There are a lot of characters in this story, both main and secondary, and at times I had to remember who was who and who worked for which company. There is a briskness about the story that made it feel like it was constantly in motion. The story moved along in a way that the end always seemed just around the next corner. This story actually goes to unexpected places.
I look forward to reading the next story in this trilogy.

This a really short story about a girl being sold for food. When you don’t do your part for the king you have to give something up. That something has to be Sol. A young girl who just wants to live. This kind of felt like a prequel to the beginning of a story. You don’t find out much about Fenris. If I was Sol’s mom I wouldn’t let her in the woods. The story was getting interesting and bam it’s done. Hopefully the author gives us another book for this story. I would like to know what happened with Fenris and Sol. Reviewed by @gguerrero89
Caught I the Spin is the second book in Sharleen Scott’s The Caught Series and if you have read the first book, like I, then you already met Tom Black (he is the main in this story). You can read the story as a standalone but as they are linked through the characters then I suggest that you start from the beginning! This story picks up two years after the first book. As I really liked the first book and I wanted to learn Tom’s story then I could not wait to get my hands on Caught in the Spin! Caught in the Spin is the story of Tom Black, a former bull rider, and Tallie Peters, assistant to Nashville’s premier music manager. Tom is such a good natured and too perfect of a man, and let’s not forget how hot he is! He is so opposite of Tallie who is a heck of a brave woman who has had to find her own way and the more you read the story the more you find out about both of them and the layers that the writer is using … the twist that blow our mind … you will not regret getting down with the series!
