Fortitude was a great 5 star read. This is a historical romance set during the Spanish-American war.

This is Claire’s story and what she goes through due to her choices. Claire was a brave, independent and strong woman who stood up for what she believed in. She is a nurse for the Buffalo soldiers, caring for them and helping them recover. When things take a twist, she finds herself caught up in racial issues.

Carrie Dalby continues to pull me in with her writing. I really enjoyed this book, there was so much going on. My emotions were all over the place. At times it was hard to read some of the racial parts. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. There were several twist and turns.
