Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C A King – Review by Naomi McDonald

Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3)Hitting The High Note by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hitting the High Note is the third book in the Four Horsemen series. Read the previous books in order to get a good grasp on the story thus far.

I enjoyed this story so much. I can totally relate to the part of Bekka that, in her words, “shouldn’t be allowed in public.” I’ve said that about myself so many times. Up until now, we haven’t heard much from Uriel, so it was good to see what he’s really like. Who doesn’t like a man who can use a lasso???

Be prepared for some interesting twists. Everything may not be what it seems.

As with the previous books, the story held my attention and I read it all in one night. I appreciate the thought that went into creating the unique aspects of the powers and the creation myth.

I highly recommend this series. I’m looking forward to the next book so I can find out how it all ends!

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Karyn Taylor

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) is an outstanding debut novel from James Talisman. In my opinion you would never believe that this was the work of a brand new author. I was majorly impressed by the standard of the writing.
I have never been a fan of science fiction before but have recently started to enjoy books in the fantasy genre. Due to this, I was intrigued by the blurb on this book and wanted to give it a try and I’m so glad that I did as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Having read the first couple of ‘chapters’ I was really worried that I was going to struggle with the amount of characters, countries, races, galaxies etc as there is a lot of information to digest but this worry was unfounded. The author writes very clearly and concisely and keeps you well on track with what is going on. The writing is very descriptive and detailed and you can imagine exactly what going on. Please note, if you are going to read this book, there is a lot of bloodshed and violence. I admit to having shivers at some of the more gruesome scenes.
This book will take you on an epic adventure full of danger and intrigue, you won’t want to put it down.

Run from Love (Bowser Belles Book 2) by Teddy Cat Hester – Review by Lisa Helmick

Run from Love: A Bowser Belles Sweet Contemporary RomanceRun from Love: A Bowser Belles Sweet Contemporary Romance by Teddy Cat Hester
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a sweet sweet story! It is filled with the kind of romance that I love. Oh don’t worry there are other things in there as well. Laughter, silliness, fun, and some cute dogs. I enjoyed how the dogs have active parts in the story. Then there is Noah. Children are gems in stories like these. Also there is the turmoil that causes Scarlett to put a six month limit on a dating someone. When Nick decides that six months isn’t enough…problems arise. Both of these main characters have something in their past that is putting a dampener on their future.

This story was told very well. It drew me in with the range of these characters. I love how the story flowed and easily kept me entertained. Scarlett is a fun female character. She is smart, witty and her own person. Nick is determined. He wants Scarlett and all her zaniness to be his. Oops there is his caveman coming out again. I loved how he acted with Scar. I could really *feel* his love for her.

This is a highly enjoyable story from a new to me author. I would love to read more from her.

Devil’s Dilemma: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter #4) by Manda Mellett – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Devil's Dilemma (Satan's Devils MC Colorado Chapter #4)Devil’s Dilemma by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Devil’s Dilemma by Manda Mellett is book four of the Satan’s Devils Colorado Chapter series. This book is full of twists and turns and you won’t want to put it down until you finish it!

Melissa is a completely relatable character. She doesn’t think much of herself because she isn’t someone who fits societies mold of beautiful. Melissa is so strong and has overcome so much but she doesn’t see that just yet. Pyro doesn’t care what society says at all. Pyro is by Melissa’s side during some of the best and worst times in her life and their friendship blooms into a relationship people envy.

This book was enjoyable to read just like the other books in the series. I couldn’t wait to finish it to see how it ended. I recommend this book and the whole series! These are characters you want to know!

Fisher Men On the X (Book III)Fisher Men On the X by Rebel Nicks O’Dey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fisher Men On the X (Fisher Men Book 3) by Rebel Nick O’Dey is on fire. I loved the other books but this may have been my favourite so far. I loved it, it has everything and then some. The characters are very tangible and real and you feel everything right along with them and become very invested with them. I went through a gamut of feelings reading this one from happy to sad, angry and disbelief and back again and yes there were tears. Rebel very cleverly through in some curveballs that I didn’t see coming and she is a very talented writer and this series proves that without a doubt.

Becca was rescued from the cult, seh and helped along the way by the Fisher Men. There was only one way to keep her safe and one man did everything he could to ensure that happened but was willing to stand back and let her learn what she needed on her own but was only a step away.

Zack decided years ago that he would do whatever it took to keep his little best friend safe, and give her the tools to make something of herself for herself. What she grew into was beyond his wildest dreams. She wasn’t the only one who needed saving, slowly Zack was able to look into his darkness and find the shining light.

They both have battle scars and together they may just find what they need. They often had me laughing but they also made my heartache. I know there are more stories to tell but I will be sorry to see this series end because they feel like family to me.

This is one series that no one and I mean no one should ever look past. Stop and start from the beginning. I will follow Rebels work always.

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan Book 1) by Paige L. Christie – Review by Jenni Bishop

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan, #1)Draigon Weather by Paige L. Christie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan Book 1) by Paige L. Christie is a refreshing fantasy story that is both unique and original and very well thought out. The story is told from a dual POVs which I love because it gives us greater insight into the characters and what was happening with the story. It flows easily and her narrative is well written. The experiences of the main characters are told back and forth through time allowing us to experience each and every loss, their friendships and their painful journeys. They learn truths and lies and dreams that can never be. Paige has woven a complex tale that encompasses a world of righteous men and special women who are so much more than they seem.

Leiel and Cleod as thick as thieves and when Leiels world is torn apart, Cleod makes a promise to her that neither of them ever dreamed would affect them as it does. It is a sacrifice so great that it leaves them on opposite sides of their reality. Consequences that neither of them as children would ever have seen. There is so much pain and suffering that it is palpable with each turning page.

I am really looking forward to reading the other books in this series. This is a great debut to the series.

Another great book. Manda has outdone herself once again, this is my new favorite. I cried, I laughed, I yelled, I cried some more, I became completely invested in these characters. I loved getting to know Melissa’s story, she is so relatable and I understand her insecurities. I am so glad that Pyro was there for her and I got to feel the love jumping off the pages. This story had me on an emotional rollercoaster that I did not want to get off of. I couldn’t put this book down so I read it in one sitting. I can never get enough of these books by this talented author. I always love meeting new characters and secretly hope that every character we meet in these books gets their own story so that these books never end. I can’t say enough good things about this story, so I’m just going to say that I highly recommend it.

Most of my reading time I have to really be in the mood for a fantasy type story but I fell right into story with such ease I was so surprised when I was done because I read it so fast. I was definitely sad when the last page came. The characters truly draw you into their fascinating world. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading my new favourite book from Natalina Reis. I know I tend to say ‘favourite’ every time she releases a new book- but this story has everything you could want from a great paranormal romance. Fantastic characters, chemistry, secrets, suspense, a little danger, drama, and a wonderfully captivating storyline. I couldn’t love it more than I did. Ms. Reis met all my expectations, and more! Colour me hooked!
Dark Feathers weaves a wonderful tale of a dark angel named Phoenix who falls in love with a human, Joan. He was sent on a mission, but never expected to be so drawn to the woman he was meant to keep tabs on. But the higher power he answers to has Joan firmly in their sights- and things won’t end well for her unless Xander intervenes. Placing himself in harm’s way will be worth it if it means keeping her safe. What happens when everything is said and done? Grab a copy and discover all the intriguing details for yourself- you are bound to love it as much as I have.
As I have said several times before, I have loved every word of this fantastic story, and now I can’t wait to see what Ms. Reis has in store for us next!

Thank you, Ms Reis!

My Life Series: Box Set: Prequel to Brothers of Camelot by Necie Navone
Five Stars

My Hidden Life: Brothers of Camelot Prequel is the first book in The My Life series by Necie Navone. This is the second book I have read by Ms. Navone, and all I can say is keep them coming. I love the action and suspense that grabs you on the very first page. Alessandra is a wonderful character who learns at a very young age, six, the dangers of being brought up as the princess of a crime family. The preparation her father sets for her to become head of the family leaves her well trading but very isolated. The rest of the characters in this book are amazingly detailed and varied. The writing just flows and I was surprised that before I knew it, it was over.

My Tragic Life: Brothers of Camelot Prequel is the second book in the My Life Series by Necie Navone. This series is intense and full of action. It follows Alessandra as she grows up a Princess in the Canzano crime family. Aless has learned to protect herself and her family from a very young age. When the time arrives and she uses her skills to save her family, it take a big emotional toll on her along with physically one as well. This book had me hooked from the very first page, and I couldn’t put it down till I read the last. Necie Navone has done such a wonderful job giving background on the plot and extensive character descriptions, that I felt I was right there in the story as I was reading.

My Free Life: A Prequel to The Brothers of Camelot is the third book in the My Life series by Necie Navone. This series just gets better and better. Alessandra is twenty and away attending University, she is now the Capo Donna of the Family just as her father intended. Now that all of her friends are growing up and falling in love, will this by Aless’s chance to start over herself or is she to entrenched is the Family business to break free. This book like the rest of the series is full of action, excitement, suspense and danger that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat throughout the story. Necie Navone really brings her characters to life in this series and I look forward to reading more from here in, The Brothers of Camelot series. I have put Ms. Navone on my permanent TBR list. I highly recommend this book, series and author especially if you love Crime Family stories mixed in with your romance

Holy cow! The Fisher Men On the X (Fisher Men Book III) by Rebel Nicks O’Dey was an amazing read. I was hooked right off the bat with this book. I think this one is officially my favorite of the series. I loved Zack and Becca as the storyline developed. Both characters were developed well and easy to relate too. This book can be read as a standalone but there or characters mentioned in this book that are presented in the other novels.
The author really did an amazing job with the storyline. She hooks readers at the beginning easily and keeps them interested the entire time. There is excellent detail to setting and supporting characters. I highly recommend this addicting series, especially this third installment.

Gaming the System (Imprisoned Online, #1)Gaming the System by P.A. Wikoff
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“…all the best treasure was hidden in the worst possible pain.”

Remember when 2020 was so far away that we had fantasies about getting info subliminally, clothes that could be changed instantly, and everything is run by AI (who prefer non-binary identies)? Well this story is what our fantasies of the future look like. (Except credit card magnetic stripes are still blown in and rubbed when they don’t work.)

This book is all of that and so much more. The first qtr of the story is the protagonist talking to himself which is how we “see” everything he is doing. The rest of the book is an enjoyable adventure.

This is a LITrpg story. LitRPG is a subgenre of science fiction and fantasy which describes the hero’s adventures within an online computer game. LitRPG books merge traditional book-style narration with elements of a gaming experience, describing various quests, achievements and other events typical of a video game. I absolutely recommend this story.

Stalking the Stalker by Laura Hawks is the second book in the Valley View Mysteries series. This is not my first book by Hawks and it will not be my last. It has been a little bit since I have read a “whodunnit” story. Hawks kept my attention from the first line to the last. This story is about Tyler Channing a celebrity who has a stalker. There is so much going on in Valley View, especially with the play with Tyler coming into town.. Tyler has a stalker Louise Harper who happens to be in Valley View as well. There was a murder and it happens to be Louise. Detective Mitchell has his work cut out for him with this murder. What is going to happen in the small town? Will the killer get caught? Who is the murder? Watch every corner and every detail and maybe you will find out “whodunit” before it is revealed.

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King – Review by Erin Wolf

Evil SushiEvil Sushi by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Evil Sushi by C.A. King, 4 stars.

There was a time when everyone came together and you helped your fellow neighbor. That time has long passed and the world will never be the same. Now it’s every man for themselves. For the fishermen of a small East Coast community, life is really bad. Fish is the new hot commodity and the seas have been overfished. Not to mention the big companies have come in with their huge boats to take what little is left. That is, until two fisherman find what they believe to be the answer to everyone’s prayers. But remember the saying, if it’s too good to be true? Well, it looks to be the case here. The creatures just may be striking back…

The hardest thing is describing this book. In the beginning of the book, it almost sounds like it’s teaching us to change our ways and show us what can happen if we don’t. But the more you read, the more it turns into a comedy horror. Or does it? Whatever category you decide to put this in, one thing is for sure — I have definitely never read anything close to this before. It draws you in, even though you’re scratching your head in wonder. The writing is that good and the story that intriguing, you just can’t put the book down. The characters are something else too. But this book is definitely worth the time.

If you want something unlike anything you have ever read before, this book is for you.

Devil’s Dilemma by Manda Mellett a five-star read that will set your world on fire. This is number four in the Satan’s Devils MC: Colorado Chapter and each one tells us a different story. I will admit I didn’t love this one as much as number three, but it was still a great story and I am eager to get my hands-on number five. Melissa was someone I could identify with easily, I got her straight away, she was a good character and had great depth to her. She brings the story to life, I will say that there are emotions running riot in this one, so be warned you may need to break out the tissues, but I am leaving it there. There are some amazing characters in this as well as Melissa and each of them will show you a different part of a great story.

This was not the story I was expecting it to be at all. The synopsis didnt give anything away and neither will I, except for the fact I love Max.

This Colorado chapter is a great group of guys and still trying to find their way after the change in leadership and rebuilding after everything that happened with Violet. Then something so unexpected falls into their laps and they had no choice to stand up for what is right.

This series gets better with each book I read and I already have the fourth book in my Kindle waiting for me and I cannot wait!

Have you ever picked up a book by a favorite author only to realize that your dreams have come true? That happened to me today. I picked up DARK FEATHERS and something felt a little familiar about it. I recognized 2 characters in the first chapter so looked back over this author’s catalog. Yup, in July 2017 I read LAVENDER FIELDS and in my review hoped Joan’s story would be told one day. Well after fast clapping and and doing a happy dance, I went back to reading.

“Oh, be still, my naughty bits.” Joan thinks that of Nix and Phoenix thinks that of chocolate chip cookies. Haha. I honestly think she and I would be friends if she were my neighbor.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I would recommend reading Lavender Fields also. SUCH GOOD AND ORIGINAL STORIES. Humor and angst and burning looks and best friends.

5 stars for Lavender Fields and 5 stars for Dark Feathers equals 10 stars!!!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pieces of a Lie was a great 4 star suspenseful read.

I was pulled in right from the beginning. Mina starts to learn more about the father who left her and her mother when she was very young. They had to deal with the repercussions of her father’s actions. After her mother’s death, she decides to go into the antiquing business. When things don’t go in the direction that Mina expects she starts to get angry and frustrated.

Lincoln is a cop who comes to town to investigate burglaries that are occurring. When Mina is considered a suspect she gets very angry. As the investigation moves on secrets get revealed that causes Mina to rethink things.

There is so much more to this great read, I don’t want to give anything away. Mina was a great tough as nails character. Linc was a straightforward cop with some demons of his own, but I loved him. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We get suspense, romance and so much more. The twists and turns really added a great element to the story. Rowena Holloway continues to draw me in with her writing and I can’t wait to read more from her.

This was an interesting tale of suspense, mystery, and so many twists and turns, for once, I was unable to even come close to figuring out the ending! It started off a bit slowly and took a while to get into it, but once things started coming together, I couldn’t put it down!

Mina Everton is an outcast in her hometown. Her father disappeared years ago with millions from the towns coffers, or so it seems, and the entire town shunned Mina and her sick mother, holding them responsible for what he did to the town. Only her friend Forbes stuck by her side and is still there for her all these years later, trying to keep her life on track and save her from herself. While he is running for Mayor, he brings in a detective from Sydney to help with a major case that he hopes solving it will get him elected. When Mina and Linc meet, there is undeniable chemistry between the two, but they are from two different worlds and each knows they could never act on their attraction.

This author takes us on a journey through a web of secrets and lies, murder and mayhem, and maybe even a bit of the supernatural! You might think you have it all figured out, but you will be wrong! So don’t bother trying, just read and enjoy the journey! And if you think you see things or hear things in your house while you’re reading…maybe it’s just Spirit there to protect you!

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan, #1)Draigon Weather by Paige L. Christie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just off the top of my head I have to say this has been the best book I have read in quite a while. If I could give it ten stars I would. In Draigon Weather, Paige L. Christie has given us a marvelous cast of characters. The main characters, Leiel Sower and Cleod Woodcutter, were so carefully crafted that you know them. You know what motivates them and what they aspire to. They quickly grab your imagination. All the supporting characters in this excellent story are just as well crafted. The world that Christie has created for her characters is so well suited for them and has been so well described you feel like you are almost there. You can feel the heat drifting across the land. This is a book that will quickly grab your imagination and keep you reading long after the moon has crossed the sky. A new direction in Dragonlore. This is a book you will not regret reading.

I will say this is not a book you can just breeze through, you actually have to pay attention to get the full story. There are tons of characters and tons of worlds and they all intertwine. My Life Series: Prequel to The Brothers of Camelot by Necie Navone – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

My Life Series: Box Set: Prequel to Brothers of CamelotMy Life Series: Box Set: Prequel to Brothers of Camelot by Necie Navone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My Life Series by Necie Navone is quite possibly one of the best series I have ever read. They are a prequel to the Brother of Camelot series, but I loved it more than those. It tells the story of Alessandra Canzano, daughter to a mob boss. She was almost murdered as a child, on the 6th birthday. Since then, she was trained to protect herself and her family, training to take over as the boss of the Family. Its hard enough being born into the Mafia, not being able to even choose your own friends or clothes. Add on to that being trained to be tougher than even your bodyguards, and its safe to say she didn’t have a normal childhood. She is practically raised by her uncle and body guard, and is closer to them than her own father. When she is a teenager she gets a taste of freedom, when she visits the US for her birthday. She has trained her whole life to be a strong leader, but she just wants to be a normal teenager.
My Hidden Life is the first book of the trilogy. It is a coming of age story, about Alessandra, the Princess of the Canzano Family. Her family is part of the Italian mob, and her dad decided, when she was just 6 years old, she will be the one to take over as the boss of the Family. Her uncle Louie has dedicated his life to protect her, as well as train her. Due to the target on her back, her father decides she must be trained to protect herself in any situation, regardless of being a child. She thinks it is fun as a young girl, but soon tires of it and wishes for a normal teenage life. These feelings intensify after she meets a boy, who doesn’t know her past or story, and sparks fly.
My Tragic Life is the second book in the series. The story is written mostly in the perspective of Aless, but with an occasional chapter from the supporting characters. It continues her story, as she gets older, following the responsibilities she carries as the Princess of her Family, essentially a Mafia Princess. With this position comes power, fear, respect, money, but Aless would give it all up to be a normal teenage, who could make her own destiny and choose her own partner. I love the balance the book has, with a little bit of longing and dreams, alongside drama and intense scenes, with a small dash of romance.
My Free Life is the last book in the My Life Series by Necie Navone. It continues telling the story of Alessandra, in her path to freedom. It must be read following My Hidden Life and My Tragic Life, in order to get the full story. This book, like the previous 2, was amazing and full of twists and turns keeping me hooked from start to finish. However, I was left hanging, and now need to move onto the Brother of Camelot series, so I can know if Aless gets her happily ever after.
While these books are listed as part of a prequel, I believe they are strong enough to be a series of its own. The characters are written so well, with emotions and relationships you can feel. I developed feelings for the characters and felt anger, love, loss, fear right along with them. The story and background are solid and realistic. I honestly enjoyed this series so much, and would love to see it turn into a movie! So highly recommend to everyone.

The Fisher Men On the X (Fisher Men Book III) by Rebel Nicks O’Dey – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Fisher Men On the X (Book III)Fisher Men On the X by Rebel Nicks O’Dey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Fisher Men on the X is the 3rd book in the Fisher Men series by Rebel Nicks O’Dey. It is advertised as a stand alone book, but I think it would be hard to read individually. There is a lot going on in these books, and even having read all 3, its hard for me to grasp it all and make the links. Over all, its a wonderful story, but an emotional one. The characters have a lot of dimension, and the relationships between them are enjoyable to read. This book focuses on Rebecca and Zack. They met when they were children, in the Seh, and it changed both their lives forever. They remain best friends and help each other heal and come to terms with who they have become. I love all the Fisher Men books, but this one was more serious and less lovey dovey. I can’t wait to read the next one.
