Masters’ Rise: Book 1 (Phoenix Series) by L. Ann Marie – Review by Karyn Taylor

Master's Rise: Book One (Phoenix Series)Master’s Rise: Book One by L. Ann Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Masters’ Rise is the first book in the Phoenix series by L Ann Marie. It was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work and I have to admit that it took me a little bit to get into this book but once I did, I really did enjoy it. I have read other MC books but found this one very different for the others that I have read. This book was very descriptive and gave much more insight into the day to day running of an MC. I also found this book to be more violent than others that I have previously read.
I really loved the main characters of Cort and Seren. The attraction and chemistry between them was instant and grew and grew as the story progressed. I loved how Seren took absolutely no nonsense from Cort, even though he was the president of a MC. For a man who was used to having everyone at his beck and call, it was a breath of fresh air to have someone say no to him and answer him back.
I really enjoyed the plot and storyline although at the beginning I was confused as to who were the good guys and who were the bad guys as there are so many secondary characters in the book. It did take me a while to understand who was who. I do hope we get to see a lot more from some of the other characters as the series progresses.
