Rule is the first book in the Larussio Legacy series by Via Mari. I love the complexity and feeling that Via puts into all of her books and the way the series that she writes intertwine with each other. You learn a different aspect of the characters from a different point of view. This book is no different and it had me hooked from the very first page. I just couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Giovanni and Serena are a very dinamic and interesting couple. This is just a really great book to read. It is one of my favorites by Ms. Via. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. Review by @sunbarn

Somebody in the Neighborhood by Judy Moore is full of surprises and is a mystery thriller with lots of twists and turns. There is murder and drama, fear and secrets. The characters are a little different and complex but well developed. The story gets you right from the beginning and slowly draws you in to the web of whodunit, where everyone seems to have interesting things to say about their neighbours. It is mainly set in south Florida where the neighbours seem nice but each have their own secrets to hide and each of them may be the killer. I loved Dorothy the oldest of the neighbours she cracked me up and I really wanted to stamp on Dawn’s mother, she got my goat up but that shows that Judy did a good job in writing them.
Dawn decides it time to leave the place that has been her home for 25 years. She needs a fresh start and definitely a new boss. When she sees her aunt’s house for the first time since she was murdered she decides this is where she wants to be. Dawn meets her neighbours and quickly learns there are some secrets they don’t want to share and some of them are quick to point their fingers.
Dawn’s fears soon become reality as the murderer comes to light but an unlikely hero comes to her rescue. When things settle down Dawn is given some truths that may change her life.
I enjoyed the story which will keep most guessing right to the end. I must admit I did work out who did it but it was still interesting to see if I was right or wrong because you never know what little twists and turns an author may add.

5 Star Addie: To Wager on Her Future (Other Pens, Mansfield Park book 5) by Leenie Brown is a historical romance regency era,that pulled me in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I love, love ,love historical Romance and this book didn’t disappoint.r this is my first read by this Author. I’m definitely going to check out her other books in this series. I like this author’style of writing and her characters are very well developed and easily relatable. . Adela and Robert ,she’s a woman who wishes to be independent. She and Robert have a connection. Find out what happens next in this must read. Can these two get a HEA? I look forward to reading more from this Author.

These two stories were the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. The author did a wonderful job illustrating how past experiences should not dictate current life experiences, which is a great lesson for readers to learn. The first character Noelle had to overcome her past anxieties to be able to celebrate new traditions with her boyfriend. I feel like I related with Noelle the most because I also deal with anxiety and the holiday season can be a very trying time. The second character Eve had to learn how to break her holiday bad luck by going to her neighbor’s New Years Eve party. These two stories were a quick afternoon read that left me feeling uplifted and in the holiday spirit.

Running In Snow consists of two short, sweet novellas that I thoroughly enjoyed! It was absolutely perfect for a quick afternoon reading break!
Story One is Noelle’s Promise. This is about a woman who had something bad happen as a child that resulted in her never, ever celebrating Christmas in any way. She avoids all this Christmas cheer like it’s the plague! This year, against her better judgement, she has agreed to spend the holiday with her boyfriend and his family. Can she get through one week without being overwhelmed with tragic memories? Can she get through one week without making these people think she’s completely crazy??? Noelle and Logan are such a great couple!
Story Two is Eve’s Hope. This is about a woman who swears she is cursed and refuses to leave the house on New Year’s Eve and refuses to drive ANYWHERE in the snow! So what is a girl to do when her heater breaks in the middle of a freak Atlanta snowstorm that happens to be on New Year’s Eve??? Head over to the HOT neighbor’s house is what! Will her curse continue or will things change at the stroke of midnight?
Both of these stories were beautifully written and pulled me in. You know it’s a great story when you are completely absorbed in it and can feel an emotional pull to the characters in a book that only takes about an hour to read! These stories will leave you with feelings of hope and happiness which is something we can all use this time of year and always!

Burning Greed is the 2nd book in the DI Tanya Miller Investigates series by Diane M Dickson. I did not read the first book, but still enjoyed this one, so it can be a stand alone. There are some suggestions toward previous cases, and it likely lays the groundwork for the character relationship dynamics, but it is written in a way that you can hop into the series. The book follows Tanya Miller, as her team investigate a warehouse fire. She takes a small detour to help search for her missing niece, leaving her feeling torn between work and family. She has a solid team she feels comfortable leaving her friend Charlie in charge, but is eager to get back to her case. Upon returning, she sees there is not much progress made, and is feeling the pressure. There are a lot of pieces, but they don’t seem to even fit together in the same puzzle. Could it just be coincidence, or is there a missing piece? I like the writing style and the characters. There is enough detail and mystery to keep the reader hooked. I look forward to reading more.

A fast romantic read that was full of drama and suspense. The main characters had an instant connection and intense chemistry. The storyline was fast and action packed that kept me reading. I enjoyed the storyline. This was the first I’ve read from the author and look forward to seeing what she writes next.

Somebody in the neighborhood is the type of mystery that has you questioning everyone. Dawn the niece of a murder victim decides to take residence in her aunts home located in a small Oceanside town Manatee Beach. Dawn has and uneasy feeling from the first night she moves in. Her next door neighbor is a recluse who only comes out at night a sort of Boo Radley character. Then a hooded figure is outside her window one night makes her question whether the neighbors that were so welcoming could be responsible for her aunts murder. I read through this book so quickly. The plot was intriguing and before I could figure out who the killer was it revealed. I will definitely be reading more of Judy Moore and I am excited to see what she writes next.

Addie: To Wager on Her Future (Other Pens, Mansfield Park book 5) by Leenie Brown was a fun and romantic novel. This book can be read as a standalone. I loved Addie’s character and her love for horses. I found her realistic and easy to relate to. I was sad about her father’s health and the struggle she had with her brother during the story. I loved Robert Eldridge as well. He was a perfect gentleman who embraced Addie’s love for horses and how she did not fit the typical lady like mold of that time period. This was a wonderful light hearted story that left me feeling happy and refreshed. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed the variety of characters. I am used to murder mysteries on tv but I enjoy the challange of reading one. Testament of Feats: Book of Judgement Book One by K.H. Jones was a fantastic read! I would give this book a five out of five stars. I have gotten into a fantasy binge recently. I love a book that can build a world so vividly that I get taken away from the present. I enjoyed the tone of the book. This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I absolutely love military romance and she exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book in the Code of Honor series. I could not put this book down for anything. I was drawn to the characters right from the start. It only took me a full night to devour this amazing story.
Patients LaClare and Duke Micheals were best friends since they were babies. They were inseparable until Duke just left one night not even saying goodbye. This is book 4 in the Spicetopia series. This story is about Natalie who is the wedding planner at Spicetopia and Micah who is the minister who is going to conduct the wedding between Cy and Jolie.
Its attraction at first sight but Micah’s profession means he’s a bit straight laced and Spicetopia turns out to be a awakening experience for him.
With Natalie holding his hand he experiences a sexual relationship with a women he falls for. But with his depature date due is their love going to survive or will be it a quick fling while he was on the park.
COURAGE OF US is the first book in the “Code of Honor” series
I think this may be the first book I’ve read by this author and I will absolutely be reading more in this series.
This second chance, military romance is full of feels and emotions and breath taking moments. The story is written very clearly and is full of detail. There is a very strong beginning, middle and end with great world building and interest building to keep a reader interested in turning the pages.

This is the second book in this series, I highly recommend reading the first book before this one. This is a story that is full of action and suspense. In this book Scream is still in search of the missing ranger. Once again, danger finds him and takes him on an adventure in seach for murderers. Scream is a great character that made me feel part of the story. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat a few times. I highly recommend this story.

Rule is the first book in The Larussio Legacy series by Via Mari. It is a fantastic romantic suspense- with lots of drama, action, danger, secrets, passion, intrigue, spice, threats, twists and turns- and really superb characters. I have been working my way through Via Mari’s books, and have really enjoyed them all- so, as you can imagine, I had pretty high expectations for this book. Via Mari definitely didn’t let me down, producing a captivating story, which kept me engrossed the whole way through. There is plenty of suspense, and Via Mari built the tension to quite a high level- keeping me on the edge of my seat a lot of the time. There were a few unexpected developments and twists which kept thing quite interesting and had me clamouring to know how it all played out. I loved that we get to revisit characters we’ve met in previous series, whilst also meeting new ones as well. I can’t wait to see where this series will lead!! Bring on Book two!

Forbidden Love was a departure for sure from most novels I choose to read. However, identifying as Catholic I find myself drawn to stories that pertain to the faith. This book is the beautiful and heart-wrenching story of a priest and nun who find love with each other when they are supposed to be vowing their love to God. It of course goes against their very beliefs but sometimes love is stronger than anything else. It isn’t an easy road and the story is told from the point of view of the couples son. He shares the dark and nitty gritty details with no holds barred. I would give it a go if you find yourself loving forbidden romance with a realistic twist. Overall this was a solid four star read for me.

Courage of Us (Code of Honor Book 1) by Brooke May is a story of military romance. Brooke May had characters that will touch your heart while reading this story. MIlitary relationships are a hard concept because of all the emotions that are involved. Patience and Duke have a road ahead of them. They were together before Duke became a Marine. Patience had could not find herself after that happened. Now that Duke has come back will there be a second chance? Will Patience open her heart to Duke? Will Duke prove to Patience that he wants a second chance? This story is a roller coaster ride and it is well worth the read.

Noelle has faced a tragedy at a young age that has left her a bit anxious about the holidays as she’s gotten older. For her, they hold very bad memories along with the wish to just skip them altogether. She’s been lucky enough to have met a man who not only respects her wishes but doesn’t push to hear the reasons behind it. Within a visit to his family during the holidays she is confronted with her past, faced with the reality of what the bitterness and sadness can do to her in time as well as how deep her love runs for her boyfriend. Can that love help her overcome the bad?
Eve has had a good life, enjoying her relationship, work and is happy. But new years eve has been a day of unease for her since she was dumped. She’s content with keeping to herself on that day and hiding from the world. Instead, her house works against her and makes it difficult. When she decides to take a chance with an offer to spend time with her neighbor it isn’t what she expected. She’s faced with yet another bad memory in the making, realizes she misjudged and has to decide if its time to turn it all around. Can she open up her heart again to find a happy memory?
With short stories its sometimes difficult to capture the true essence of a character’s story from the background, to the present. However, I didn’t experience any lacking of depth in either story. I felt a connection to them both of the women, they’ve had to conquer some pretty bad moments. I loved their journey and had a few aww moments along with a tear or two for Noelle. This may be a quick read, but it’s such a good one! It’s the perfect pairing for some hot cocoa, a blanket, the book and some quiet. Which is exactly what I did.

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price by C. L. Schneider. This is the story of Ian who is a Shinree, a Magic user whose race has an addiction to using magic. He is on a mission to save the Rella Empire because he was sworn to do it. As he sets out on the journey he meets lots of people who are not his friends but pretend to be so he has to sort thru them all. He’s also having to deal with a magic addiction and get it under control before it consumes him. This is a great adventure with lots of magic, sorcery, drama, action and intrigue. Once you pick this up you will not want to put it down. Do yourself a favor and start reading it today!

Addie: To Wager on Her Future by Leenie Brown is book 5 in the Mansfield Park series. This book wasn’t necessarily out of my comfort zone, but something that I wouldn’t normally pick to read because of the writing style. I decided to read this book because of the horse racing reference, as I have spent a lot of time out with my family watching horse races. Overall, I thought the book was great. There was the perfect amount of suspense, action, and emotion. The characters were all strong and well developed. Most of them have charming personalities and are easy to love. Addie was my favorite character. She is different than all the other women in her time, who are taught life is just about looks and finding a husband who matches well. She thinks outside of the box and loves horses and racing. Her brother, James, has been off at school and has made some poor decisions that have got him into trouble. Addie is doing her best to keep things in good standing and out of harm’s way, as things in her life seem to be falling apart. Robert is taken with Addie the first time he meets her and will do whatever he can to ensure her happiness, even if that means taking on the despicable Mr. Camden. This book was short and sweet and I am happy that I read it; it is a good book to curl up all cozy like and spend the afternoon reading.

Courage Of Us is the first book in the Code Of Honor series by Brooke May. I had previously only read one book by this author which I thoroughly enjoyed and this looked like just the kind of book I’d enjoy. I tend to enjoy second chance romances and this has to be one of the best ones that I have read. Patience LaClare has loved her best friend Duke Michaels all of her life but he left her devastated when he slept with her on the night of their High School graduation then left to join the marines the next day without saying goodbye. Years on and Patience has just divorced from a man she never loved and Duke returns to town having been medically discharged from the marines. Can they go back to the best friends they used to be? Can they have the relationship that everyone assumed they would have? If 2 people are meant to be together then it’s Patience and Duke but Patience is trying to get her life back together after her divorce and Duke has some secrets of his own that he’s hiding. This is a beautifully written second chance romance. The 2 main characters are both broken but have always loved each other and that has not changed. I loved watching as they both fought their demons to see if they could possibly have a future together. I was totally drawn into this book and did not want to put it down. It’s a definite page turner.

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price by CL Schneider is the first in The Crown of Stones trilogy. This book is a really great and intriguing start to a new series. Magic is reworked into something awe-inspiring and dangerous. Ian is addicted to magic. The problem is all magic comes with a price. What might be good for one, might pain another. Ian lays his hands and wields the Crown of Stones to help end a war. But what price must he pay for this power? This is really well written and interesting. I like how magic comes with a cost. This is mentioned in other series but you rarely see the consequences. Ian sees the consequences of his power over and over. I really enjoyed the build-up and am excited to start into the next book in this series.

Naughty & Nice by Phoebe Alexander is the fourth book in the Spicetopia series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone but enjoyed more when reading in order. Natalie has been hired by Spicetopia to plan the holiday wedding of the owner but encounters Micah who has been hired to officiate. Natalie and Micah are in two different thought modes concerning hookups and more. Can the two of them come to a compromise and give in to the passion growing between them? This is another fun and steamy read from the Spicetopia series. The characters are fun and I like each character is different. This one is funny because the two main characters seem very different when introduced. I look forward to reading more in this series in the future.
“Addie: To Wager On Her Future” is a great blend of romance, grief, and horse racing as the main character Addie struggles with being who she is, with what society dictates she be. Also a great story if you love stories about horses! I haven’t had a chance to read the other installments in this series, but this one gripped me! I had trouble putting it down, eager to see the story play out! I would read this novel again, and I can’t wait to read the others in the series!

“Testament of Feats: Book of Judgement” was a great read! If you like Game of Thrones or The Lord of the Rings, this book is for you! With much travelling throughout the novel, the adventure never ends with the help of demons, bards, mountain cats and giants, this book will leave you itching for the second installment. I can’t wait to read the sequel!

Running In Snow, A Holiday Novella by Renee Regent. This was a novella made up of two short stories that take place on Christmas and New Years Eves. My only issue with reading a novella is that I never get enough.
Noelle’s Promise Noelle has vowed not to celebrate the holidays again except now she has Logan in her life. Now she will be spending Christmas with Logan and his family. Can her holiday be happy or will her memories come back and ruin it for her.
Eve’s Hope Eve doesn’t like New Years, it is always an unlucky night for her. When an unforeseen incident happens and she end up at her neighbors before midnight,will this be a New Years Eve to remember or will her bad luck strike again?
This novella was a quick, wonderful read. I enjoyed it a lot.

I struggled between 4 & 5 stars on this book…This is my first read by this author and I completely enjoyed it. I went with 5 stars because I was totally hooked on the story and how it was told and I did not want to put it down until I finished.
It was definitely predictable and I figured it out early on so there was really no twist for me as the clues were quite obvious. The only thing that kept nagging at me was the blizzard, her outside covered in snow and finding the truck key in her hand, this was never addressed, and kind of threw me off, but what had me most invested was the interaction between all the characters and the build up of what is ahead in the books to follow. I love this group of people and can’t wait to get each of their stories.
It was a quick and super simple read and there were plenty of scenes that had me blushing and I do recommend reading it because there is a ton of potential for an awesome series ahead.
