My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn: A Steampunk Faerie Tale by Danielle Ackley-McPhail and Day Al-Mohamed is an inventive retelling of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. It is an interesting story with a great cast of characters.
These authors are both new to me so I had no idea what to expect when I started reading it. The book was definitely exciting in parts and a unique way to tell a well known story. I did find parts of the story a little slow but it picked up pace the further into the book you get. The characters were all well developed and had depth about them.
The combination of writing styles in this book complimented each other well and created a seemless story. It was a great introduction to 2 new authors and I would certainly recommend this book.
