Secure Again (Chase Security Series #2) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Angela Shirley

Secure Again (Chase Security Series Book 2)Secure Again by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When you have a blast from your past, will you be able to resist or crave what you have been missing all this time.

Elizabeth is a doctor who has a troubled past, although she takes her oath very seriously but when a man from her past comes crashing in will her heart be able to survive the encounter.

Martin is the CEO of Chase Security, when his brother is admitted into hospital, Elizabeth is the last person he thinks he will see, but will there past be able to be overcomed and hopefully create a fresh future or will the past catch up with them and will Martin have to save her from the threat that is attaching them.

This story is full of action, thrills and twists. Martin’s character in the first book was so strong and controlled, in this book you feel the vulnerability in him and it is great to see him in turmoil over this independant and sassy woman. This story was well written and had me on the edge of my seat with every turn of the page. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and see which one of the characters is next to get his story.

Secure Again (Chase Security Series Book 2)Secure Again by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Secure Again by R.L. Dunn is the second book in the Chase Security Series. This is a continuation of the first book, so I highly recommend reading book one in the series first. This story focuses on Dr. Elizabeth Reed, who notices a mysterious medical issue at the jail and Martin Bailey, CEO of Chase Security International, who has his own investigations ongoing. This is a good story that is full of suspense, mystery, and romance. I was drawn into the story and wanted to keep reading to find out what was going on for Dr. Reed and Martin’s cases. I liked there were separate stories, but they intertwined. I also enjoyed the characters. I look forward to reading more in this series soon.

I love this series and I have read numerous books by this author and they do not disappoint. Each book within this story can be read as a stand alone but there is some crossover in some of the characters but this does not deter from the story.

The story is well written and the characters spark chemistry off the page. I love the character of Nicky she is sassy and a strong female character which complements the character of Reid brilliantly. I would recommend reading more by this wonderful author as her stories are always well constructed and have warm and brilliant characters, I can’t wait to read the next book in this installment.

The Guard (A Soppranaturale Series Book 2) by Ashley Pagano – Review by Angela Hayes

The Guard: A Soppranaturale Series: Book 2The Guard: A Soppranaturale Series: Book 2 by Ashley Pagano
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Guard is the second book in The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano. It is a really intriguing paranormal fantasy, and a really original and fun read. I loved the first book and couldn’t wait to dive into this story and continue the adventure. Full of magic, secrets, supernatural and paranormal beings, discovery, action, danger, and more.
We discovered The Soppranaturale Hotel in Book One- the ’undercover’ sanctuary for paranormal & supernatural creatures who all do their part to keep things running and contribute to The Soppranaturale. We met Ommily and Link- the very last two Fae, as they proceeded to connect and then conquer the Gauntlet. This book sees them being tested like never before, as rouge supernaturals enter the picture- placing everything they hold dear in grave danger! What happens next kept me avidly reading to discover if they win out in the end.
I highly recommend reading book one before starting on this book, as there is important backstory and interesting details contained there, which will enhance your appreciation of this book.
So, if you love a well written and incredibly intriguing paranormal fantasy- then you really won’t want to miss this story/series!
Looking forward to more!

Thank you, Ms. Pagano!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sweet Temptations: The Boss’s Daughter (Sweet Temptations Book 2) by L.M Mountford is a very quick and easy read- a short story that you can easily devour in one sitting. Making it a book you can enjoy when your reading time is limited, or during a lunch break, or as a quick, sexy read before bed.
This book is definitely what I would class as titillating erotica- a story of taboo temptations- aka the boss’s daughter. We have met Richard previously when he was tempted by the babysitter- and follow him as he encounters this latest temptation.
I would like to have read a longer and more ‘meatier’ version of this story- but it was entertaining nonetheless.

Thank you, L.M Mountford!

The Body Collector (Bad Boys of Space, #3)The Body Collector by Landra Graf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Body Collector by Landra Graf a fantastic five-star read. This is number three in the Bad Boys of Space series and it can be read as stand-alone as I have only read one of the previous two stories in the series and didn’t feel that I missed much. The chemistry in this story was great, it really came alive, there was something that kept me hooked from the first page until the last, there is so much covered in this story, and the subject matter can get deep, but the author deals with it all so well. Al and Loyda will enrapture you, they will make you feel like you are part of their story.

The Perfect Outcast (Perfect Outcast Book One) by Melissa O. Hansen – Review by Angela Hayes

The Perfect OutcastThe Perfect Outcast by Melissa Ott Hansen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Perfect Outcast is the first book in the Perfect Outcast series by Melissa O. Hansen. It is a clever and though-provoking story of self-discovery and finding where you belong.
It is a YA fantasy- with sci-fi and dystopian themes- the story is woven with meaning and hidden messages, which really made me think. There was so much going on in it, in a good way- from secrets, drama, deadly conspiracy, hidden agendas, corruption, mystery, romance, parallel worlds, power, responsibility, mortals/immortals- and the idea that ‘being perfect’ is not everything it’s cracked up to be.
This is a fantastic start to the series- and if this is anything to go by, the rest of the series is set to be outstanding. Ms. Hansen’s world building is superb- creating quite a vividly detailed setting in which to place her story.
I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.

Thank you, Melissa O. Hansen!

Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders, #2)Rescued by Valan by Jennifer Siddoway
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

Rescued by Valan is the second book in The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders series by Jennifer Siddoway. This has quite a lot going for it- from pirates, historical romance, action, adventure, danger, drama- and did I mention pirates?
This should have grabbed me right from the get-go, having all the ingredients that I love to find in a story. This could have been a red hot five star read for me- but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations.
I really did try to connect to/with the story and characters, but something was missing for me. I’m not sure exactly what- but there was something a little ‘off’ with the story- especially her capture, what transpired prior to her being rescued, and then her reaction afterwards. It just didn’t ring true….
The idea of the series does intrigue me, so I will go back and read the first book and explore that story. As well as reading this book again in a month or so, just to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having an ‘off’ reading day with this book.

Thank you, Jennifer Siddoway!

The Dating Itinerary by Brooke Williams – Review by Angela Hayes

The Dating ItineraryThe Dating Itinerary by Brooke Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Dating Itinerary by Brooke Williams is a superb romantic comedy with a bit of an enemies to lovers aspect to the story, a bit of a “hating game’ which I really enjoyed. There is some drama, just enough to keep things interesting. The story was a little predictable and somewhat cheesy- but that added to the fun factor of the story and didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book in any way.
I have read quite a few of Ms. Williams’ books now- and can always rely on her to deliver an entertaining read. I like her easy and inviting style- and the way she adds a little ‘individuality’ to her stories. Her characters are always really well developed- such interesting individuals, with their own unique (and at times quite quirky) personalities.
Penny and George (Geo) have a bit of history together and a quiet rivalry between them. Penny has been assigned a to write a series of articles called ‘The Dating Game’- which will involve taking part in all the various ways people use to find a date. From dating aps, to matchmaking- and everything in-between, Penny will be ‘trying’ them all. She has high hopes that the experience, and articles, will propel her career to new heights. But then Geo turns up, seemingly wherever she goes…
Geo has his sights on winning a syndicated spot that would bring him the success he’s been looking for. There is a lot riding on this being successful. Because then he would also have the means to help his sister. It just so happens that his stories involve exploring all the differing types of dating methods- which causes his and Penny’s paths to cross, often. Sparks fly, and hilarity ensues.

Thank you, Brooke Williams!

R. L. Dunn is the author of this Suspenseful story. This fast paced, easy to follow, page turner. Has it all. The emotional Rollercoaster in itself, will keep you wanting more. Perfect Always is the second book in the Perfect series by Tricia Copeland. It is a fun contemporary romance- with just a little drama- and some fantastic character development and growth. After reading Perfect (Book One) and enjoying it so much, I thought we were ‘one and done’- so finding this book on my recommended book feed was a real treat.
We met Chloe in Book One, and we follow her again through this story. She is a small town girl with big city dreams. Leaving her high school sweetheart, Adam, behind to attend college- Chloe soon meets Isaac- and so the story takes off.
Perfectly enjoyable!

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 2) by N.L. Holmes is a historical mystery story set in ancient Egypt and Lord Hani returns where the danger is very real for himself and his family as he searches for the truth. This story had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. NL does a great job of setting the scene with being very descriptive in the writing. Once again there is a lot going on within the story, but NL does a great job of shaping it all together. The thrills and mysteries intensify as we go along on the journey with Lord Hani to find those behind the lies and secrets.
