Big City Heat is a collection of stories, some can be read as a stand alone, some can not. This collection is a great way to find new, amazing, and talented authors! I recommend you don´t just take my word for it, but dive into them yourself! I decided to start with ¨Make Me Beg¨ by Moni simply because the title caught my interest. I had no idea what an adventure i was in for! It is an intense, fast paced, and overall very well written story! I loved Teagan and Reid´s dynamic, and their connection throughout the story! I loved several authors from this Anthology, some new, some i´ve read content from before. I definitely recommend this collection, as well as the authors behind it!

A Beach Wedding To Die For is the second book in Judy Moore’s Cozy Mysteries To Die For series. It could be read as a stand-alone but does follow on from the events of the previous book. We catch up with Beck O’Rourke, who has started to get a bit of a reputation after solving a murder related to a book signing at her family shop. Beck is a bridesmaid at her friend Amelia’s third attempt at a wedding. With jilted ex-fiancés, bitter siblings and secrets being revealed, there’s plenty of drama. And, since it wouldn’t be much of a murder mystery otherwise, someone ends up on the wrong end of a cake knife. The standout characters for me are, naturally, Grammy and Coquina, Beck’s dog. Grammy’s liveliness (she OWNS the dance floor at the wedding!) often brought a smile to my face and Coquina is a great help as Beck tries to piece together what happened. If you’ve ever been exasperated by a wedding diva, this is the book for you! Or if, like me, you’re longing for the seaside on a cold autumn night. It’s a light, entertaining read that will get your brain working as you try to figure out whodunnit. For me, this is a five star book. I’m looking forward to reading more of the series!

A good romance book helps get your mind off the stress in one’s life. These days it’s a welcome gift. In Tidal Love Harleigh has a hard past and is sent by her family to recoup, during which she finds love. This story makes you feel good,and gives you a positive outlook on life. This is why it is the perfect story for today. It takes us away from all the bad and gives us a warm,fuzzy feeling. We all need a good romance book in these trying times. Wendigo Forrest is a fantastic YA paranormal story by C.A. King. The story is everything I have come to expect from Ms. King- a well written, intriguing, and engaging tale- with wonderful world building, a little mysteriousness, some dramatic developments, and a bit of spookiness that kept things interesting. This is a very short story, which made for a very quick and easy read- I would like to have read a slightly longer version of this book and be able to immerse myself in the story with more detail, but still an enjoyable book. The characters are well developed individuals who are entirely realistic and believable. I enjoyed meeting Clara, a teenage Fawn, and following along as the story unfolded. Mystery and spookiness ensue- making for a great read!

Shattered Snow by Rachel Huffmire is an interesting read and would be perfect for teenagers. It’s hard to write a book that is suitable for both teenage boys and girls, but I would say this book is suitable for all.
Shattered Snow is a retelling is a fairytale classic. The story hasn’t just been reimagined, it’s been turned on its head and retold in a way that is both exciting and unpredictable. Set in the future, we get a glimpse of how life could look in 2069. I’m not sure the world will be prepared for time travelling, especially as we already know…changing the past can have devastating repercussions on the future. Kelston, aka ‘The Mirror’, runs an underground operation. His goal is to use time travel to help rescue people throughout history. He is joined on his mission by Lilia, a mechanic from Russia, and together they set out to change the course of history. I loved this story. It was action packed from the start and had me hooked. I would have loved to have got to know the characters a little better, but this story is definitely with reading no matter what age you are.

I really enjoyed the story line, liked the characters, and loved the “powers” of the sisters. The unique little romance going on in this little story was an added bonus. You will be wanting to know more about this family. There are some very adult situations in the story so reader be warned.

Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.
Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.

The Fire God Tour by Michele Sims is the third book in the Moore Family Saga, and was a great read! The only book in this series I’ve read before is the fourth book in this series. That one was so good, I couldn’t wait to read more of the series. This book was not a disappointment. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, I just wished I could have started with the first book first, and continued from there. It was very well written, with great characters and a great plot line and story. It captures me from the beginning and it was hard to put down. I highly recommend this book.

This was my first book by Brinda Berry. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one! Age of Druids: Druid’s Brooch Series: by Christy Nicholas is the ninth book in this historical fantasy series. In this book Christy has woven many threads and pieces of the puzzled together from the other books to finally give us some much-needed answers, like just how the Brooch came to be. This story take place in early Ireland and a religious tug of war. As usual the story is well written, and I truly felt for these people and what they went through. It is easy to imagine the world Christy paints with her attention to detail and vividly descriptive storytelling.
Clíodhna finds herself torn between her own beliefs and those that are being forced upon her and her family. With a religious zealot at the helm nothing good can come of it. Throw in some Fae and magic and life becomes complicated.

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews. This is such a fun elaborate time travel story. Its the story of Maggie Armstrong and her father who has told her stories her whole life about 16th century Scotland. Her father is an archaeologist and when he encourages her to go on a trip with him she believes its one of his archaeological digs. Upon arrival Maggie discovers they have time traveled to 16th Century Scotland and Maggie is shocked. Once she gets her bearings she is surprised that she is enjoying every minute until her Uncle gives her hand to a neighboring Lord in marriage. Maggie is not happy and is determined she is not marrying this man. She doesn’t know him but if she refuses it could cause a dangerous feud between the 2 families. A contemporary romance which had me hooked from the beginning to the very last page. Written from both of the main characters, Malerie and Ace’s point of view this was an enjoyable and engaging read. Malerie has unluckily faced death twice but has luckily also escaped death twice. Once at the age of seven when she was left an orphan but was the only survivor of a bombing and then on her eighteenth birthday when her much loved guardian was killed by a crazed gunman. Now someone is out to kill Malerie and she suspects that there may be more to her previous survival than just luck. Bodyguard Ace is being paid to guard Malerie however she soon turns out to be more than just another client to him and he vows to protect her. Ace is surprised when the feisty girl he has to protect actually ignites feelings in him that he did not know existed but he soon fears that although he will do anything to protect her he might loose his heart to her. Malerie knows that although Ace is her first love he might also be her last if the unknown person out to kill her succeeds.
I loved Malerie and Ace as they were both well defined characters who were realistic and relatable. The chemistry between them really came across and I liked how their relationship developed throughout the story. The author has a way of making the reader care about the characters through her detailed descriptions of both them and their feelings. The storyline flowed easily and the plot has plenty of action and suspense in it along with the romance. I found this to be a fairly fast paced story and the narrative took me on an emotional rollercoaster as I found myself immersed in Malerie and Ace’s world. A five star read and one which I found hard to put down!

The Lies Between Us: A Psychic Romantic Suspense by Cynthia Cooke is the fourth book in the Deafly Secrets series. This is a fast paced and exciting book that really keeps the pages turning. I found that once I had started this book I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order to get the full build up however it can be read as a stand-alone. The chemistry between Cat and Tom was great to see – especially given they had been married for so long. I thought they made a strong couple and made the story even better. This is a great book and one that I definitely enjoyed reading!

Key to Tirumfall is the exciting, emotional and gripping third and final book in Brumbaugh’s ‘The Tirumfall Trilogy’. The three books do need to be read in series order to gain the most understanding and enjoyment from them. This is another epic fantasy adventure by J Drew Brumbaugh which is set in a fantasy world “of wizards and dragons, swords and demons, and power and war amidst love, friendship, and family loyalty”. Isabella has always been told that she is the child of prophecy by the demon lord who has raised her but she’s not! Gwen is the real child of prophecy, however she does not know that she is. Gwen has grown up with her adoptive parents and brother Seth and has been taught the art of wizardry. Both Gwen and Isabella set off on separate adventures which lead them both to the Tower at Tirumfall, a mysterious tower that is said to hold the secrets of the greatest wizards, and towards each other. Both of their journeys are dangerous and fraught with setbacks that will threaten their lives and test their relationships. The big question throughout the book is who will be able to unlock the mysterious Tower at Tirumfall which has been sealed for thousands of years and if it’s open will it solve anything or make things worse. If its Gwen who gains access to the ultimate magic which is inside how will all that power affect her and the people she loves. This is the mystery which kept me gripped as I read this classic fantasy adventure. I felt totally engaged and immersed in this story due to the authors wonderful world building. I loved the main characters as they are all fascinating and well defined and all bring something different to the story. Brumbaugh’s detailed descriptions and wonderful narrative really make this novel and the trilogy as a whole come alive. Once again the plot is action packed and full of mystery, drama, and suspense which had me hooked from start to finish. A great conclusion to the ‘Tirumfall Trilogy’.

Book Review: Kismet Heart Author: Brinda Berry Four STARS This book is definately something else. Malerie is trying to figure out why bad things keep happening to those around her and now that she is 18 and a legal adult, she doesn’t know what to do. She has been protected and coddled since she was a little girl and now, what happens now. Ace has been hired to increase the security and help protect the naive Malerie. This job is well paying but proving to be a mystery and a dangerous one at that. This book will keep you guessing and wondering what is going on. Good read. KLH

This was a great fast paced story that keeps you gripped from beginning to end.

I loved reading the book The Opposite of Addie: A Novel (Friendship & Secrets) by Julie C. Gardner. It is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a book that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I loved the characters of Addie and Jake. The story tells the tale of two people who have secrets that are revealed. Will those secrets keep them apart forever? What does the future hold for Addie and Jake? Read this book to find out. I grew to care about Addie and Jake with each chapter that I read. This is a story that has heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments. Some moments touched my heart and I found myself thinking about the book even after I had finished the final page. The story is brilliantly written, and the author does a wonderful job in making the characters come alive. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book that will have you hooked from the beginning. I highly recommend reading it.

Shattered Snow by Rachel Huffmire a captivating five-star read. When I read the description of how the author came up with this story, it intrigued me and made me wonder, then I read the story and it made me wonder so much more. The descriptions are so good, you can depict everything, nothing is left out. It cold have been so crazy and not clear when you encompass a fairy-tale and time travel but the author has done a great job of pulling all of the characters together and the settings together and having them bob and weave together creating a story that just captures your imagination. It can get a little confusing if you are easily distracted, but if you keep going with it, it is such a great story.

Kismet Heart by Brinda Berry a fantastic five-star read. This is number one in the Surviving Love series and I can’t wait to survive more. Malerie could have come across so differently, but Brinda Berry made her feel so real, you could feel her pain, her confusion and her loss. But despite all that she has this way about her that sucks you in and shows you her strength and spark, shows you that she is a woman not the child that tragedy happened too, she may enjoy her own company and shy away from others but who wouldn’t give her circumstances, but will she be able to open up to the right people? Ace brings something extra to the story as well, he shows us a different side of strength and adds more mystery to the story, this was a great romance and one that will keep you on your toes.

I loved reading the book Key to Tirumfall (The Tirumfall Trilogy Book 3) by J Drew Brumbaugh. It is an exciting and entertaining story that had me hooked from the very beginning. This book is part of a series and I believe should be read in order so that you can fully understand what is happening. I loved reading about the characters of Isabella and Gwen. Isabella is someone who has been told she is something she is not. She is a girl who is intelligent and when up against conflict does her best to survive. Gwen is a girl who is confident, intelligent and independent. What does the future hold for Gwen and Isabella? The Tower of Tirumfall is said to hold great magic. It has always remained sealed. What will happen if it is unlocked? This is a story that had me turning pages wondering what will happen next. It is a fantasy story that takes you on an amazing journey. There are wizards, soldiers, magic, action, and danger. I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. Many of the characters have been brought forward from the first two books and I enjoyed reading more about them. This is an author who knows how to write an amazing story that comes alive. Don’t miss out on reading this book. I highly recommend it.

This story about Sidney and Quinlan starts with a chance meeting. Sidney could have never guessed the tall, handsome man she met on the train one night would turn out to be her new boss the next day. Can their chance meeting be for the best, could it turn into something more? How can they manage to keep their attraction a secret from their coworkers? Do they really have what it takes to make it through a rough situation from Quinlan’s past? All these things and more will hook you into the story from the beginning. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. If the rest of her books are this good, I’ll be sure to check out her other books.

The History of the Universe by Stuart Ledwith a mystifying five-star read. This popped up on my feed after a friend read it, and I have read the author previously so even though I don’t normally read any novels about religion I decided to give it a go as I enjoyed the concept and the thought provoking aspect as I always like to learn and discover new things, and I really do feel that I did that with this one. It may not be your typical read, but if you are after a change of pace, maybe a palate cleanser book, pick this up and expand your mind, its given me thought especially right now and that was something I was missing at the moment. The authors style is well put together and you can tell that they have checked the pace and flow of the story, there isn’t the issues I normally find with this type of story. Overall definitely one I will be recommending to many.
