Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by Mark Nolan – Review by Angela Shirley

Dead Lawyers Don't Lie (Jake Wolfe, #1)Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie by Mark Nolan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What happens when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, but also have a picture of a murder who has added you to there hitlist.

Jake is a war veteran and is in San Francisco when he takes a picture but does not realised that he may have photographed a killer. As Jake then realises he has placed himself in the middle of this serial killers sights and will he be next on the hit list.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns within the story and that it was constructed really well. The characters are brilliant and enhance the story as it weaves through the world of “The Artist”, with the story exploring Jake’s past it lets you into the experiences which has made this man who he is today.

This is the first story I have read by this author and loved the style of writing which draw me in and I could not stop reading once started. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and to read more about Jake.

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Book 4) by Martin Ferguson – Review By Jonell Collins

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters, #4)Blood of the Dragon by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Martin Ferguson does it again with Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Book 4). I love these books so much. I think they are original and unique stories built around legends and myths most of us have grown up with. I haven’t read a one of these yet that I haven’t learned something new. These books never fail to inspire me to do added research. Having said all that, I have done research on Vlad the Impaler, but I missed the whole Ottoman empire thing and the history and geography of Wallachia. Great book, I am for sure a fan.

I enjoyed this novel by Alexander Charalambides. I love paranormal novels and especially novels about vampires. Alexander Charalambides has created a new twist to the normal vampire novel. The story of Rowena and Vincenzo is intriguing, and I cannot wait to see how it progresses. Alexander Charalambides has created a vibrant world and I look forward to exploring it more with the continuation of the story.

The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink – Review by Angela Hayes

The Sound of SilenceThe Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Sound of Silence (Leave me Breathless World) by Dakota Willink has a bit of a “Sleeping With the Enemy” feel to it. It is a romantic suspense with some dark undertones that made for a compelling read.
Please note that the story could be considered a trigger for some readers- with domestic violence and abuse playing a part in the story.
Gianna and Ethan seem to be the perfect couple from the outside looking in. But appearances can be so deceiving. Life is anything but perfect- shattering Gianna’s happily ever after dream. Ethan, seems to be the perfect husband. A policeman would keep her safe- right? But who can she turn to when her husband, the cop, is her abuser? She has no choice but to escape and start over. But the past has a way of popping up when you least expect it- making for a gripping read.
Confronting. Intense. Gripping. Emotive. Sensitive topic. Dark themes. Dramatic developments. Honest. Raw. Realistic and believable. Suspenseful. Recommended reading.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Willink!

Thank you, Dakota Willink!

Dreaming of Christmas: 5 complete, sweet holiday romances by Joanne Dannon – Review by Angela Hayes

Dreaming of ChristmasDreaming of Christmas by Joanne Dannon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3 ½ Stars

Dreaming of Christmas by Joanne Dannon is a wonderful collection of Christmas/holiday romances. This is the first time I have read any of Ms. Dannon’s work, so I was excited to see what I would find. I love Christmas stories, and at this time of the year I tend to read as many as I can- so I was only too happy to one-click a copy to explore.
There are five short stories that make up this collection. They are:

-A Magical Christmas in Jerusalem
– Another Magical Christmas in Jerusalem
– Christmas Kiss, New Year’s Wish
– Christmas Kiss in London
– Christmas Kiss: But Only For the Holidays

The stories are sweet, cut, and fun- with banter, emotion and interesting characters- made for an enjoyable read.
Happy Reading.

Thank you, Joanne Dannon!

The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Series Book 3) by Megan Mackie – Review by Erin Wolf

The Devil's DayThe Devil’s Day by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give The Devil’s Day (The Lucky Devil Book 3) by Megan Mackie 5 stars.

This series grabbed me from the very beginning and each book gets better and better. This one is no exception. There is plenty of action and suspense going on, but we also see how much Rune and St. Benedict have grown, and continue to grow. The characters are what really make this series. But they are not the only ones in this book. You will see those from previous books return, as well as some new characters. The story itself is so complex and enchanting. The author does a fantastic job of creating a world and story unlike any other. While in the same world as the previous books and an obvious continuation, this story is unique and enthralling. I hope this series never ends.

If you are a fan of urban fantasy with realistic main characters, this book and series are for you. In my opinion, it can be read as a standalone, but you will understand more if you read the previous books first.

Lies That Bind (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book #6).
When a tragedy leads Logan to a tangled web of secrets and lies- things get quite tense, and intriguing. She is going to have to dig through the past, and untangle the truth from the lies, to get to the bottom of it all.
This latest instalment of the Logan McKenna Mystery series by Valerie Davisson is definitely my favourite, so far.
Wonder what Ms. Davisson has in store for us next?

Unwrapped by Evelyn Sola – Review by Angela Hayes

UnwrappedUnwrapped by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

Unwrapped is a sexy holiday story by Evelyn Sola. As this is my first read by Ms. Sola, I really didn’t know what to expect going in- but as you know by now, I do love a good Christmas/holiday story, so I was only too happy to dive in.
Unfortunately, this didn’t quite hit the mark for me. It was quite slow to get going, and I really had trouble connecting with the characters, or their story- the whole thing leaving me wanting. Nick rubbed me up the wrong way right from the beginning, and I just didn’t connect with Miranda at all, no matter how hard I tried. It’s an ok story, but I really did want to love this book so much more than I did.
I’ll revisit this book again in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way, or if maybe I was just having an ‘off’ reading day.
I would be interested in exploring more of Ms. Sola’s work to see what else she can do.

Thank you, Evelyn Sola!

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Book 4) by Martin Ferguson – Review By Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

This is book four in this action packed series. The author has given us so much through these books and I will have to say this one I have enjoyed the most. The characters get put through a lot and you can really see the growth. I liked how the author includes the history into the story. Like it something you’ve heard of but in a different light. We’ve all heard of Vlad the Impaler but now read about him from this authors POV and it makes it interesting. This series is for everyone. Not only for the YA genre. You can feel the energy coming off the pages.
