Granted: Curse Of The Emerald Jinn by Rachel Huffmire – Review by Krista Vaughan
Liam is sixteen and everyone and everything seems to mess with him. He’s like a magnet. I’ve been unlucky and I’ve had bad things happen but Liam is more likely to have them happen than not! It’s almost tragic reading the first part of this story until Kenna saves Liam’s life and things start to change. Imaginative and unlike any other story I have read, I enjoyed this book very much!

“This isn’t about love, like, lust or a happily ever after…” – I read that and thought “okay, there’d be speed bumps, sharp curves and stoplights along the way- but the boy gets the girl. Typical happy ending”. T.R. Cupak took my expectations and predictions and tossed them out the window. This novel is raw, creative, authentically crafted-and wrenches every drop of emotion from you. I experienced a kaleidoscope of emotions, I was angry, sad, happy and craved revenge just as much as Hunter. Jordan’s Shadow is not just your typical novel- it is not. Jordan’s Shadow is one of those stories that you didn’t know you wanted to read- but in the end, it’s the story you know you needed. The characters grow on you, they crawl in your heart and stay there. T.R. highlights the beauty evident in brokenness; the commitment that accompanies love. I literally cannot stop raving about this book- it’s captivating, gut-wrenching, unpredictable and a page-turner. A TOTAL MUST READ.

I was already hooked (pun fully intended) on this series when I got to this book. I LOVE this series. Wolf’s story incorporates everyone we’ve already met and takes us down his tale ( I really wanted to spell it tail 😉 I’m cheesy but I know good books) and who he meets to change his story. This combines the big bad wolf with beauty and the beast. It’s the best untold story and rendition I’ve read in a long time. I really hope Suzanna Lynn doesn’t get tired of doing these because they rock! Read from the beginning and enjoy!

Auctioned: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance is the third book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series by Via Marie. I know I say this about most Via Marie’s books, but this is my new favorite. Via Marie is one of my must read authors and I enjoy all of her books. Auctioned follows Damian and Bryanna on a wild ride. This book is filled with action and adventure, suspense and danger, and wrapped up in romantic intrigue. This book had me reading long into the night, but it was well worth the lose of sleep. I can’t wait to see what Via will have in store for us next.

“Kissing the Kavalier” follows two sisters, Zdenka and Arabella, through the throes of society. Arabella needs to find a rich husband who she hopefully loves, or will grow to love, to save her family from their impending homelessness. Zdenka must help by dressing as a boy to escort her sister to all the events of the season. Along the way, these women run into a man named Matteo, a soldier who has been affected by the war, just as many soldiers seem to be. He’s an honorable man that doubts the honor of his past. As friendships build, lovers fall and all is lost. But can it be found? Together, these characters figure out what love can make you do, how far it will take you, and how it is needed for forgiveness. This story is full of love and pain that finds an equal balance, but at what risk? Soldiers are highlighted in this book, but as are women’s rights and independence. Read this book if you love romance and the pain people must go through to get it.

Every now and then I want to read a small town, rainbows and butterflies type romance novel but when I want to read a pulse racing, steamy story with substance, I seek out Via Mari. Auctioned is book three in the Billionaire Bodyguards series and it is captivating from the start. Much like I’ve come to expect from a Via Mari novel, the storyline is just intense enough to grab your attention (and keep it) without losing you in all the moving parts. I enjoy this series because there are familiar characters I’ve met over time in Via Mari’s writing but if you’re just discovering the series, you won’t be lost. I love the complexity of the characters first and foremost but put Damien and Bryanna together and the chemistry is unmatched! It’s ⅘ stars from me and as always, can’t wait to read more by this author.

Savage is book ten in the Ash Park series. I picked up this series with book nine and have had no problem following the books or the characters. This book pulls you into the story immediately. It was hard to put down with many twists and turns that kept you guessing. Detective Edward Petrosky is still struggling with alcoholism, and you get to see more of his struggle with gripping realism. It is another fantastic story by Meghan O’Flynn that you will not regret reading!

Savage: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 10) by Meghan O’Flynn 4 Stars!!!!
Another journey into the drama of Petrosky. I was really taken down the rabbit hole with this one. The author brings the past and present to a explosive combination. I found that the author has done a great job of bringing the characters to life and bring the drama too boot. I found myself on the edge of my seat on this one.
Petrosky is so so messed up and I really have all the feels for him. He is a great detective but in this book we really see him as I see it really hit rock bottom. I really like how the author is able to bring his past into this and things seem to come full circle and I hope this is the beginning of healing for the main character Petrosky but only time will tell. This being not my go to genre has really had me out of my comfort zone. I have to admit that the series does get very dark but the author has a refreshing style that brings things to a head and brings a bit off silver lining to the darkness. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

Kissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine 5 of 5 Stars I really enjoyed this wonderfully written historical romance. The author did an fantastic job with this book. The detail she went into was incredible and I really felt like I was right there with the characters at times. Countess Zdenka Waldner was a fantastic heroine to read about – I loved her from the very beginning.

The Ocean’s Light is the first book in Mina Chara’s Blood of the Pirate series. I’ve enjoyed reading Chara’s Hero High series and have often contemplated running away and becoming a pirate so was eager to get into this new series. Evie is a cool protagonist. She gives up a secure, if uninteresting life to follow a treasure map that’s all she has left of her parents. Intelligent and determined, often to the point of recklessness, she’s met her match in the resourceful pirates and captivating mystery that surround her and her mission. This is a great book for teen and young adult readers who enjoy pirates and action, with fantasy elements and puzzling mysteries. It’s got plenty to engage and entertain, with a loveable, if rough, crew of characters. For me, this is a five-star book. I’m looking forward to reading more of the series!

One night can change your whole path of your life, but will a strange help you crawl out of the darkness or push you further down the rabbit hole.
Jordan has had a traumatic history and this has sent her hurtling into the darkest realms of life, with her addictions of Alcohol and drugs numbing the memories but will she ever be able to come out into the light.
Hunter aka The Shadow is infatuated by her, her believes he is Jordan’s protector but underneath he is hiding a secret that if Jordan finds out may send her further into the darkness and there will be no way out.
I have to warn you this is not a romance with all the feels of flutters in the stomach and happiness, no this is a dark, dark story and will draw you in with tears and heartbreak. This story broke me, this is the first book I have read by this author and thought that they wrote an honesty and dramatic account of the initial attack and then the subsequent years after that really affected how she lived her life.
I liked that they were both scarred by something that happened in there past and are drawn to each other to try and resolve the sadness which both have but intertwined with happiness. I can’t wait to read more books by this author and I hope you enjoy this story but be warned you will need tissues.

This is an author I have enjoyed from the first book I picked up of hers. This one is no different. This is a young adult story which I fully enjoyed from beginning to end. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and kept me engaged throughout. It is well developed where you feel as if the story is realistic. The characters are relatable and really made the story for me. This is a story about Titana is a fae who has lost her brothers and is about to take the throne. There is evil looming and a darkness that could leave them all damned. What happens next you don’t want to miss. It is a story full of magic and action. I truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.

This is an author I have read every one of the books in this series and have enjoyed from the first to this one. I highly suggest reading this series from the beginning to get to know the character Jake and his dog. He is a strong character that I have enjoyed from the first book and is one of my favorites. This is a story that pulled me in from the beginning by the author’s attention to details. The story has a realistic feel and the characters bring the story to life. Jake is back in another suspenseful story. In this story, he plans on attending a wedding in Key West what he doesn’t expect is that someone has a plan to kill the wedding couple. Will he and Cody be able to find this killer before he executes his plan? I really enjoyed this story and what the characters bring to the story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

When you are at the lowest part of your life, can you recover or will the darkness take you away.
Daisy is a girl who’s not really a cool or popular kid but has a cool group of friends who they can talk openly to each other and give each other the support they require to navigate High School, until Daisy finds herself swallowed up the darkness of her own world and feels that there is no-one who can help her.
Her life gets even worst when her brother starts dating one of her tormentors and thus cutting her off from her family completely. All Griffin can see that there is something not quite right with Daisy but can his friendship with her help her come to terms with the vicious circle which has become her life.
This story broke my heart, the subject matter may be difficult to read but it was written with dignity and a true understanding of the troubles that this character portraited. The sheer hopelessness that this character felt towards the end not being able to even confide within the family dynamic and have to hold everything in was gut wrenching to read. I hope if young girls read this story and are going through the same things have comfort and the strength to ask for help and be like Daisy in the end when she get helps from her loving family and friends.
The story was well written and the characters where brilliantly written. This is the first book I have read in this series and I believe this can be read as a stand alone story but I have downloaded the other books in this series to read as I really enjoyed this story and wanted to read more about these wonderful characters.

Jordan’s Shadow is definitely suspenseful and dark. When I first read the synopsis on this book i was intrigued right from the get go. Only once I started it I couldn’t put it down.T.R. Cupak captures her readers attention right away, and never let’s it go. Jordan’s Shadow is filled with a dark past, secrets, love and affection, revenge and so much more that it will have you furiously flipping the pages to find out what happens next. Make sure to bring your tissues boys and girls because Jordan’s Shadow is a dark and wild ride that you won’t be able to resist.
I really enjoyed this romance. I loved the lead character Willow. She is a independent young woman who knows what she wants and doesn’t want. Her attitude comes through the book and I love how funny she is.
Willows love life has been one disaster after another. After a night out when she gets very drunk she ends up with the details for 4 guys. Is one of them her Prince Charming?
One bad date leads to another and Willow starts to lose hope. But she meets Gun at the fire station and the attraction to him is so strong. Who is Gun? Is he taken or single?
With the help and advice from her best friend and brother this is a rollercoaster of laughter and tears as Willow finds her way through life.

Amy’s Santa: Satan’s Devils MC (Second Generation) is the first in a new series expanding the world of the Tuscon, Arizona MC by Manda Mellett. I really enjoyed this telling of Amy and Drew (Wizard) finding their way back to each other.
Amy is Heart’s daughter and first met Drew when she was just 5 years old. They became fast friends even though Drew is 10 years older than Amy. When Amy got older and started to transition into a woman their paths separated. They each lost a friend and possubly even more.
After Amy left the compound to go to school and forge ahead in her life, Drew (Wizard) devoted himself to the MC and quickly climbed the ranks.
Even though Amy didn’t really want to come back for Christmas this year, she knew it would be more suspicious if she didn’t come back. So when she finds herself in the middle of the normal Christmas time festivities her father interveens and maybe, just maybe Amy’s life is about to shift onto a different course.

This is the second Book in Suzanna Lynn’s series. Let me just say I love this book! The way she weaves her storyline and the richness of the characters just gets better with each turn of the page. In the first book we saw a glimpse of captain Jameson Shaw (later captain James hook) make a friend in Red riding hood. In this book we see that it was not a chance encounter but an alliance in the making. We are getting closer to the all powerful villains but will they be able to trust and get there in time? Read and find out! you will be on the edge of your set and reaching for the next book in no time.

I loved this historical romance that kept me turning the pages so that I read it one go. This novel is set in 1800s Vienna and inspired by Richard Strauss’s opera, Arabella, which I absolutely loved, having begun to enjoy opera during the past year of lockdown. The writing is gorgeous and the plot is extremely fast-paced, which kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. It reminded me a little of the first Bridgerton novel, only this novel was much more interesting and better written. I’d read any book by the author Annette Nauraine.

My first read by this author and I went in blind as the cover grabbed my attention. Like with any new author, it takes a little bit to learn the writing style and flow and after a few chapters I was engaged. A really good read in a genre thats not always my first choice. The only big downside for me was trying to keep names straight and pronunciation of names, they were a bit difficult and caused me to pause in my reading.

When you have wanted that man to come into your life and you become his whole life, well I thought I could not have that until Damian walked into my life but will the situation cause me to lose him.
Bryanna is the niece of a rich socialite Jenny Torzial but when she becomes the embroiled with in a Sex Trafficking ring will she be lost forever or will her white knight come and save her from the gang and herself.
Damian is part of the elite group of Billionaire Bodyguards who’s job normally takes on the mundane of the rich and famous but when he is enrolled to find Jenny’s niece who has vanished can he keep his feels in check long enough to find her.
This is the first book I have read from this author and omg I loved every word and was engulfed into this world hook, line and sinker. First off Damian has been added the ever growing list of book boyfriends and my god he can dominant me anytime he wants lol. The start of the story slows draws you into the world that Bryanna has been brought into and with the secondary characters this brings this world into the for front. As the theme revolves around the seedy world of sex trafficking it is written with sensitivity and humanity. I loved the strong, brave characters of Bryanna and her true spirit is shown within the story and with the Damian characters just add that bit of spice and sexual chemistry that sizzled underneath and when it finally exploded it was brilliant well scripted writing.
If you are looking for a fluffy romance I suggest another read, but if you are looking for well developed characters, a gritty and well written story then this is the story for you. I have already downloaded the two books before and can’t wait to delve into the Billionaire Bodyguards series. Thank you for a great book.

Is a nice funny, sweet romance. We catch up with Celicy and see how she’s coping Cecily is no different to any teen except being in the spotlight of course, but she still has the teenage angst, anxieties, friendship issues, drama which makes her a relatable character. The disparity between the real world and the celebrity world leaves Cecily with low self-esteem and makes her doubt her relationships. It explores first love, celebrity, conflicted friendships, misunderstandings, secrets and the negativity of social media. Well written, this story is easy reading, for any age group, but has the most appeal for its intended audience.

This book is one of the most realistic depictions of teenage inner dialogue and trauma that I’ve ever seen in a work of fiction. While it is not for the faint of heart, as it contains sensitive subject matter, it is also a beautiful story that shows the true power of a strong support system. Daisy’s Darkness By D.M Earl is book #6 in the Wheels and Hogs Series. It pulled me in the very first page and man my heart hurt! This one touched on the more sensitive topics and I absolutely related to it because I have struggled with anxiety and depression for a few years now. I loved that the author wasn’t afraid to touch these subjects and brought more awareness to them. This was mostly written in Daisy’s POV but a few others were thrown in too. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a heartfelt read that pulls on your Heartstrings! Happy reading!
Forged by Secrets is book three in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. This book book was intensely nerve wracking and had my anxiety levels at a high level. The foundation of this series was set in the previous stories, but I have to say that Tyler and Malina stole every thought and feeling from me, making the other stories fade into the background slightly. Tyler was this strong SEAL and the games he played with Malina were funny as well as endearing. While it was frustrating for Malina, I loved the dickens out of it. Malina was an extremely guarded woman, but you get why as you get further into the story. She wants what everyone around her has, but it seems out of reach for her and Tyler. She is not prepared to take the risk on admitting her feelings. She believed she could not afford to be weak. Her and Tyler together were a bigger force than even she could have anticipated. When guards are dropped and true feelings are laid out on the table, all bets are off and Tyler goes to battle for her, all guns blazing.
Amy McKinley has the crafty ability of just unveiling enough to get a reader thinking thy know what will happen without giving it all away. All with an intense subtlety that takes incredible skill. The suspense will stretch every nerve and the anticipation will almost break you. But you will be enthralled, thrilled and blown away by these characters from this special ops team. I love this series, but Tyler and Malina hold that special spot in my memories. 5 stars.

Kissing the Cavalier by Annette Nauraine is a wonderful historical romance that is based on the opera, “Arabella”, by Richard Strauss. It is set in Austria in 1867- which is beautifully brought to life by the author. All the lush historical and cultural details and the rich textures woven through the story pulled me in and made me feel like I was right there, experiencing everything right alongside the characters. A story of finding love unexpectedly. Looking forward to seeing what Annette Nauraine does next.

This story packs a huge punch and is full of real-world problems that people deal with every day. The author does it in such way, though, which is respectful and really addresses the issues. You get multiple sides of a story and how it affects them…which I found to be very interesting. The topics discussed in this story include bullying, mental and physical abuse, eating disorders, cutting, suicide, and death.
Daisy is a self-proclaimed nerd that is not cool and has few friends. The friends that she does have, they are a tight knit group. She even has a close family that has her back. However, she is being bullied and tormented at school. She tries to deal with it on her own, without involving those around her. This only leads to her isolating and alienating herself from her support group. She turns to very unhealthy ways to cope with her feelings. As her secrets start coming to light, Daisy is dealt more blows as friends of hers (who are also being tormented by the same group) end up in the hospital after their own ways of dealing with the pain. Will Daisy be able to recover and find herself again? Or is this dark cloud hanging over her going to be too much to bear?
I found the supporting characters in this story to be great for the storyline. I have not read the other books in the series, but I don’t feel like not reading their stories impacted my understanding of this story. To see a group of people rally around one of their own and support them and not judge them made for a good story. I sat down to read this story and finished in one sitting. I was invested in the story and needed to know what would happen.
This book had my emotions all over the place. We follow Daisy through her nightmare of high school issues. We get a glimpse into several things that can affect a teenager on so many levels causing emotional scars.
Daisy’s story really makes you think about things and what kids go through. Daisy had a group of friends that were not popular kids. When her brother starts dating one of the girls that is one of the bullies she deals with it makes things uncomfortable. She starts to close in on herself.
Will her family be able to help her?
Overall this was a great read. All of the characters added a great element to the story. There are some things in the story that could cause triggers for some. If you’re looking for a great read that really makes you think about things and makes you reevaluate your own actions this is the book for you. 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.
