Exhale and Move On is a highly erotic romance by K.L. Shandwick. It started out fast paced and continued to be highly entertaining throughout the story. I love Rock n’ Roll romances, but this one I think is really close to how those band really live on the road. I enjoyed the interaction between Rick, Lennon and Coral, but I have to say this book is not safe to listen to at work.
This os also my first book narrated by Bolton Hill. His voice is deep and sexy. He really brought the characters to life. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I’m definitely looking for more books narrated by Bolton Hill in the future.

Flowers in December is a self enlightening story by Jane Suen. I have read three or four books by Ms. Suen, but I have to say I think this is my favorite so far. This story was personal for me having lost my mother this last year. This short story was beautifully written and very emotional. This book had me from the first page to the last. Conner Norton’s struggle with grief is prominent in this story as he returns to his hometown town for his mother’s funeral. After the funeral he stays to get his family affairs in order, which brings on self reflection. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster, I definitely needed my box of tissues. Conner’s strength of character made this story flow. I highly recommend this book.
This is the first book narrated by Rich Miller, but definitely won’t be the last. I really enjoyed his voice and he really brought the characters to life.

This is a Young Adult novel and is 296 pages. This story follows Ivy. Ivy views herself as really not fitting in anywhere. I mean, when your BFF’s are spiders, it kind of throws people off a bit. One day, she opens her neighbors mail and unbeknownst to her she ends up summoning the four horsemen and next thing you know she is faced with either creating an apocalypse or saving her mother. So, she decides to go the apocalypse route. I really enjoyed reading this book. I think we have all felt like Ivy at some point in our teenage years.
Relentless, meaning never giving up. Layla is relentless in looking for her sister. Dereck is relentless in helping and protecting Layla. Even the bad guys are relentless in their human trafficking pursuits.
I enjoyed the banter between Layla and Dereck through-out the entire book. And I really like how Layla is such a tough woman. She can protect herself, find her sister and still love the man. Mari has created believable characters and a real-life world that is worth reading about.
While Relentless is not my favorite of Mari’s stories, it is still 4-star worthy. This story can be read as a stand alone since the previous characters are only slightly mentioned. But the Billionaire Bodyguard series is worth the read.

“Murder at Honeybee Lake” is a follow-up to “Rebecca Remains,” a very twisty paranormal mystery. This one begins a year after “Rebecca…” resolves. In this one, Tessa’s friend Randy – who provided her with a guest room when she was hiding from Keith – has been living with Ben at their home at the lake for a year now. Down at the dock one evening, Ben pulls a dead body out from under the dock. Randy handles this badly, refusing to believe that Ben found an actual body until the police confirm it the next day. Ben is deeply offended by Randy’s behavior, yet he readily accepts Randy’s marriage proposal later in the week. Their engagement starts on a rocky note as Randy is arrested for the murder of his … already dead lover? WHAT? Denver died years before, from cancer. How did he end up in the lake? And how did the murder weapon show up under Randy’s deck? Ben runs away from all the drama, leaving Emily’s (Tessa’s sister) wife Mandy to solve the murder, as she knows her brother Randy could NOT have murdered any one! If Randy didn’t do it, did Ben? Did Denver “engineer” his own death? Randy undergoes severe abuse and homophobia from the prison guards, and has to depend upon Mandy and Randy’s estranged father, a lawyer, to get him out of the horrendous jail conditions. This is pretty hard to read, even though Randy finds a friend in the jail’s nurse and a closeted gay guard, Simon. The paranormal is much stronger in this book than in book #1. Randy and Ben both act strangely at times, and both attempt suicide. Were they … not themselves … when the suicide attempts occurred? This is all really twisty and the plot points of either Ben or Randy being the murderer are very convincingly drawn. So who murdered the already-dead Denver? Can Tessa contact Denver to find out? Parts of this novel get pretty repetitive, but it is twisty and suspenseful. The repetition knocks down the star rating from a 3.3ish to an even 3 stars.

Tessa begins dreaming about a woman with long, red hair, warning her that Keith will hurt Tessa, just like he hurt her. It turns out that this woman really exists – existed? – because she is Rebecca, Keith’s former wife. Rebecca shows Tessa proof of the abuse she suffered and tells her that she was actually murdered – by Keith. In Tessa’s non-dream life, she reaches out to Emily, to end their estrangement, and for help. Since we readers now know that Keith is an abuser, it makes sense that he gets upset at Tessa and Emily re-connecting. When Tessa begins suffering endless headaches and fatigue, Keith arranges for a doctor’s appointment; it turns out Tessa is pregnant. Her dreams of beginning a new family are coming true! Except – they are not. After finding proof that the dream woman was telling Tessa the truth – and the episode of marital rape by her supposedly-perfect husband – Emily and her girlfriend, Mandy, help Tessa move out. Between the frightening dreams, and trying to establish a new life in which Keith cannot find her, Tessa and Emily try to solve Rebecca’s murder. Tessa needs peace and Rebecca deserves justice. Emily encourages Tessa to explore her gift – communicating with dead people, in order to accomplish both goals. The story becomes progressively more suspenseful, as the reader awaits the probable confrontation with Keith What a plot twist awaits! Not only do we get the confrontation, but it is nothing like we expected, as we also learn the truth about the fates of Tessa’s and Emily’s parents! It certainly was NOT what they had been told. There is very little exposition at the beginning of the novel: the plot becomes suspenseful immediately. A bit more exposition would have been helpful. Tessa makes unrealistic leaps in knowledge, seeming to understand situations well before she should have. It seems unrealistic for a woman being stalked by her husband to jump as quickly into a “new” relationship as Tessa does with her high school flame, Tommy. I was really sickened by the marital rape and abuse. Fortunately, the plot improved from there, becoming more about establishing a new family from friendships as opposed to more traditional family arrangements. I rounded the book up to 3 stars. It is not my typical genre, and I will probably stick closer to paranormal cozy mysteries as opposed to more “realistic” suspenseful mysteries like this one.

Oh my goodness, she’s done it again with this great story. I love Derek and Layla so much and was a little sad when I finished the book.
So much happens starting at the very beginning and it never let’s up. Between the sparks flying between Derek and Layla to the revelations close to the end of the story which I totally didn’t see I couldn’t stop reading.
I loved this book which can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the book before this in the series at least. There is a bit of crossover and reading both will make everything make more sense.
I have no patience waiting for books and thankfully I don’t have to wait for the next in the series. It’s already in my kindle waiting for me.

Tiwatipara is a charioteer, working for the Hittite King Hatusshili, as his father and grandfather have done before him. He loves caring for the great horses who pull the chariots, as well as the chariots themselves. Tipa drives the chariot of the crown prince, the eldest son and probable heir of the King. And then a tragedy occurs: while racing, Tipa’s grandfather is severely injured and his father is killed in an accident while driving the king. When Tipa discovers that the chariot had been sabotaged, his life’s purpose becomes finding the saboteur and exacting revenge. This is the basic plot line for the rest of the book, but mostly, there is a lot of world-building and so many unusual names – of people, cities, and nations. If a reader pronounces words in their heads as they read, the reading will be slowed to a crawl by the difficulty of doing so w/ the unusual names. The intertwined relationships amongst the books characters are also difficult. That being said, the descriptions of charioteering, marching armies, and battles are pretty thrilling. Constant heartbreak for Tipa – and an unexpected, huge plot twist – keep one reading. The major flaw in the plot – besides the difficult names – is that the saboteur of the king’s chariot is so glaringly obvious as to remove most suspense from the novel. I read the Kindle version of the novel, in which the author’s notes, acknowledgements, and a glossary of names were at the end of the book. It would have been most helpful to have read them all first, as many of the people and conflicts delineated in the book are actually historical. This information elevated the number of stars that I will assign the book to 3.4 stars, rounding down to 3.

Via Mari has done it again. This series has many twists and turns. But the romance is swoon worthy. The characters are hot, hot, hot. But the women are strong willed and independent. I loved this story as well as the storyline. I turned page after page and could not put the book down. I will be looking for the 5th book in this series. No Spoilers in this review, although??? This book is definitely HOT HOT HOT. The characters were interesting, though I would have liked a little more background on each. The storyline itself was good, and the audible version was enjoyable – the narrator’s voice is like melted butter SO YUMMY!! A quick listen for a relaxing Saturday. This story had a good storyline, interesting characters and a happy ending. The dynamic of the flashbacks was great, but it was hard to grasp in the beginning. Myths and Legends: An Indie Love Anthology is a collection of stories all based on well known myths and legends. Each book puts a different spin on a well known tale and makes something exciting out of it. Most of these authors are new authors to me and I found that I enjoyed each and w dry book for different reasons. They all fit really well into the collection but also stood up on their own. Each book was adventurous and fast paced, making it quite a quick anthology to get through. Yet stories were exciting and well written and great to read. This is definitely a collection worth your time.
Our Wicked Lies: A gripping psychological thriller by Glede Browne Kabongo this book is full of suspense and has a few twists and turns thrown in. I thought the story was well thought out and written in a way that kept your interest right from page one. I did at times find the characters just a little hard to relate to. I really wanted Alicia to have a little bit more backbone about her although for the most part she was likeable. Her husband I found very hard to connect with. Instead I found there was an instant dislike for him, which could well be exactly what the author intended. This is an overall enjoyable book and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
This was my first McKinley Audiobook, so I had no idea what to expect other than I loved the synopsis and the cover. I’m so glad I judged this book by the beautiful cover and snatched it up! McKinley’s skill with world-building was just as beautiful as the Italian setting she describes, and don’t get me started on the characters!! STONE!! Holy Smokes!! Handsome, wealthy, set in his ways Alpha with a “pretend” soft spot for his assistant! Adeline is strong, beautiful, confident, and really dang good at her job especially when her role became loving “fiancé” to her boss. I truly loved McKinley’s attention to making both of the leads independent, mentally healthy, confident individuals who truly formed a mutually beneficial bond. That doesn’t mean it always goes well for them, but you feel that both Stone and Adeline are a true catch worthy of finding love, even if it isn’t with the other. I can’t wait to find my next McKinley read!!

I loved loved loved this book. Author Everly Taylor takes you on a ride of excellent proportions. The depiction of the new race of Zayd gets your imagination going wild. Lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. This is book one of the series and I can’t wait for book two. This book grabbed me from the first chapter and never let go. The main female character Lillie has a funny sarcastic humor that mixed so well into the story.

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare is an adorable children’s book, perfect for ages 3-7. This book follows Jake and his best friend Neet, as he leaves home and stays in a doggy daycare for the first time. Shannon’s book touches a wide range of emotions throughout this book with Jake, and also includes helpful tips included in the back of the book. Written in couplets, this book a fun and easy read, and will instill a love of poetry in children at a young age. If you work in pre-k though first grade, this book would be perfect for your class.

5 out of 5 Stars! Who wouldn’t love a book where a dog and a squirrel are best friends? While this is a bright eye-catching book with fun illustrations and a great story about trying new things and friendship, the really amazing part is at the end of the book! Shannon has provided a wonderful tool to talk with young children about how they may feel just before trying something new or when they are stressed. It has age-appropriate explanations for what the child may be feeling, how they can manage those feelings, and how to turn it around with self-confidence and imaginative play, and drawing/writing. This is such a wonderful conversation starter to help children learn confidence, bravery, and great mental health habits. Shannon created an interactive “guide” that allows children to learn that they are in charge of their body and can manage their feelings, and how their body responds so that they can practice mindfulness and go through life with tools to help them grow into confident, happy, kind, amazing human beings. I can’t recommend this enough to teachers and families of little ones! This is a story that surprised me more as the story rolled along. There is a reoccurring theme that I didn’t get at first. Once I hit the second half of the book it became obvious and I couldn’t have loved it more. The characters are intriguing and I grew to enjoy watching them blossom. I loved the sassiness of Jane and the dandiness of Alexander and how they blended and at time didn’t. It made for some very fun reading.

I love office romance stories. This one is no exception. I enjoyed the story and meeting these new characters. The story had me wanting to not put this book down. I couldn’t wait to get back to see what was going to happen next between these two. The back and forth banter of Nicholas and Mia then add in the kindness of Penelope..I couldn’t get enough.
Mia really is kind, sweet and thoughtful…everything Nicholas thinks of her. Her wide eyed enthusiasm made it so I could picture her perfectly. Nicholas caused me anxiety at times. He is really unpredictable and unreasonable not to mention moody. I could see the most growth in him as the story went along but he wasn’t my favorite character. Maybe he was too aloof for too long that I just didn’t connect with him the way I did Mia or Penelope.
This is the second book in this series. We see some of the character from the previous book. Her family just makes me wish for a family like that. The more we see of Krystina and Loukas the more I cant wait to read their story. Next Please!

4 stars! This book was different but I liked it. I didn’t think I was going to be able to get into the story but I sure did. Tillie kind of annoyed me, it seems like she is in the wrong line of work, everyone seems to dislike her for all of the mess ups she has caused, and her partner Abdul doesn’t seem to care to defend her. I did enjoy their romantic relationship though, Abdul is very much in love with her, so I wish she would just hurry up and take the next step with him. This author did an amazing job with describing how the Hucows looked, it all seemed so real. The story was very unique, original and fantastical and I really enjoyed reading Tillie and Abdul’s quest to save Lady Annabelle per the Queen’s orders, and Lady Annabelle is a whole other can of worms. All the characters were very well written and easy to relate to. I look forward to reading more from this author.

When I read the synopsis of this book I pictured it a certain way….. Well that will teach me to never judge a book by its synopsis, hahaha. Mya took me on a very unexpected journey with this intriguing story about two ladies who kind of experienced the same kind of troubling relationship. Mya kept me guessing the whole time and believe me I had A LOT of theories.
Emily also does a good job with the narration but some places I had to do a double take to make sure which character was speaking.
All and All an AMAZING first book from a new Author to me.

I enjoyed this Regency Romance. The characters were well written and the story keeps you hooked from the beginning as you want to see how things turn out.

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare: A Children’s Book about New Experiences, Friendship, Stress Relief, and Kindness is the second book in the Jake the Growling Dog series by Samantha Shannon. The author has a background in educational counseling, and uses that to create this fun, bright, and engaging story for children (of all ages!). Jake does not want to leave the comforts of home and his snuggly bed in order to be around the other animals at Doggy Daycare. He is worried about new things and faces and what the others will think about him. With the help of his new friends and the Kindness Critters, Jake shows the reader that feeling this way sometimes is okay, and shows them how to work through it instead of running away. This story is interactive and the illustrations are vibrant and interesting. This will be a great tool for teaching our little ones how to work through certain emotions instead of being afraid of them. Whether at home or in school, Jake the Growling Dog would be an excellent resource to share with your children. I recommend this book with 5 out of 5 stars and will be checking out the other books by this author for future use with my daughter.

What happens when you can get everything in the world but the one thing you thought you never wanted comes and creeps up on you.
Rick can everything and everyone he wants but is this enough in his life or is his missing something, but can he truly go after what he desires or will he push down his secret that he has been harbouring for the last right years.
This story if not for the faint hearted, this story has twists and turns which have you listening intently to the story to see where this goes. I loved the way the secondary characters enhance the story and move you to get to know them also. With an audio book you get to embrace the novel and feel like you are living the words right with the characters as they meander through the story to the conclusion. I have know about Rick from previous books in this series but enjoyed finding his history.

This is the first book by this author that I have read, and I was hooked from the moment I started reading it. I found it to me a suspenseful book that I couldn’t put down. I was so wrapped up in all the secrets, lies and deception that was taking place I was sitting on pins and needles until the end. And to be quite honest, I was sweating when I reached the end from all the elements that I read. Great book and one that I highly recommend if you are into paranormal crime and mystery. I think she did a fabulous job describing everything and everyone in this book. In some areas, too much because I was a little frightened and looking over my shoulder in some places. Overall, a fabulous read and I look forward to reading other books by her as well.
This is a delightful and cute story that I can see myself using with my students when we discuss new experiences, being nervous, and friendships. Though Jake and Neet are an unusual friend pair, they prove to us that friends come in all shapes and sizes.
Shannon reminds the reader that it’s okay to be afraid, to be nervous, and to lean on someone. That true friends help each other get through scary times through support and encouragement. Together we are invincible!
