Next Door to a Star is an angsty YA story by Krysten Lindsay Hager. As I mentioned, this is a young adult story full of all the teenage issues/angst/drama that comes with being a teen. The story is about friendship, cliques, fitting in, popularity, betrayal, young love, emotion, and heartbreak.
Hadley Daniels is a typical teenage girl- who feels like an outsider and longing to be part of the ‘popular’ groups… she just longs to fit in. After her best friend moves away, Hadley has a hard time, becoming the target of the ‘mean girls’. Then things get interesting when Hadley goes to spend the summer at her grandparents home, discovering that the girl next door is none other than Simone Hendrickson, the famous teen television star. Simone is everything Hadley would love to be- and so Hadley is over-the-moon when Simone befriends her. But popularity may not be as great as it appears. Add a cute boy to the mix and things take a complicated turn.
Hadley’s story is set to continue in “Competing With the Star” (Book #2).

Thank you, Krysten Lindsay Hager!
