The creative craft of Leslie Scott in the second book of the Blackwater Magic Series is quite amazing. This is the first book of hers that I have read, and I found it delightful.

She eventually gives Xander a chance. After several break-ins to Riley’s home, Riley is certain her ex is behind it somehow after the break up, but she soon learns that some people cannot be trusted. This story was very well written. It had everything I like to read. There was mystery, suspense, and romance. This was my first time reading anything by this author and it will not be the last.

This is a book that leaves you thinking. A twist on the Virgin Mary story with maybe a bit of Aliens? You don’t really know. Jeremy is a 17 year old teenager magicly pregnant. How and why are the questions of the day. In this apocalyptic world, down south ists just a little laid back. I found myself wondering about these questions. Who are They? How did the society collapse? What plague killed them? …. I enjoyed this story because the characters were just so well-done. They were deep and colorful. I used to live down south and the author described the personality like it is. The plot is plausible yet definitely sci-fi. LOVE!!!

House in the Woods was Ah-Mazing. I have read a lot of books by Jessica Aiken-Hall, but this was my all time favorite. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It is a mystery suspense, that I had partly figured out about half way through, but not all the details. The book is about Molly Jackson, college student, and how her life is turned upside down one summer. She decided to stay home for college, after her mother was diagnosed with dementia. Her dad is somewhat of a loose cannon, a hole, and she doesn’t feel right leaving her mom home alone with him. We start off thinking that will be the focus of the story- Molly’s mom and her wandering off, getting lost, the fear surrounding that. Then things take a whole new twist, when Molly sees a flyer hung at school for a missing person. She takes the flyer on a whim, curious why she never heard about this before… it is a small town after all… Then she realizes she looks a lot like the missing woman, who was the same age as her brother. From there, things just get stranger and stranger. This is so much going on in this book, I don’t want to give away any spoilers. But read it. Do it, you won’t regret it!

This was the first book I have read by Leslie Scott. It took me a couple chapters to get into it, but then I was hooked. Teagan Blackwater, is just a witch, or is she? The carnival comes to town full of paranormal characters, Teagan is warned a couple times to get out of town. Being stubborn, she can’t leave. Not until she knows what is behind the warnings. I really enjoyed the relationship between Teagan and Sean, the local werewolf Deputy. It made me smile, laugh, and fight right along with all the characters to save her town. My favorite quote in the book was: “Here I was, Teagan Blackwater, the ultimate demon slayer-armed with a sticky note.”

After reading Twisted Secrets I couldn’t wait to read Bound by Secrets. Jaxon and Kayla have waited a long time with lots of secrets to find their happy place. Plenty of twists and turns that keep the story very interesting and your attention captivated. This is a great quick read and doesn’t let you down with suspense and romance. Amy is quickly becoming one of my favorite Author’s with this series.

Bound by Secrets is the 2nd novel in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. The second installment focuses on Xander’s brother, Jax, and his former girlfriend, Kayla. Kayla is looking to escape an abusive relationship and goes home. To keep her parents safe, she asks Jax to give her a place to stay. As their relationship grows again, they are confronted with secrets from the past, surrounding the death of Kayla’s brother and Jax’s best friend.
Bound by Secrets was a good novel. Kayla and Jax have a very realistic relationship, and are great characters. I am enjoying the books focusing on each brother individually and then how there is an ongoing story throughout. Amy McKinley is a fantastic writer, and knows how to keep a reader on the edge of their seat until the last page. I did not see the twist in this story coming! Can’t wait to read #3!

This book was impossible to put down once I picked it up. I love Romance and Suspense and Twisted Secrets has both! Amy gives great details about Xander and Riley ‘s individual pasts and she does amazing switching between the two characters to get the entire story. It truly was a joy to read. Cannot wait to read the next books in this series.

This is the 3rd book in the Gray Ghost series. This is an audio book and is just under 8 hours listening time. This story follows Hannah, a Russian sleeper agent, and Jack, her ex and a former Navy SEAL. She is traveling via plane with a secret weapon when they are hijacked. Enter Jack. He is supposed to be getting the weapon but will not leave without Hannah. He still harbors feelings for her. Fingers start pointing at Hannah at being a traitor. Corruption runs deep and Jack and Hannah need to find out what is going on and fight to clear her name. This was soooo good!

They say not to judge a book by its cover but have you seen this cover?!? I was honestly hooked from the second I saw it and once I started reading it I could not put it down!
The story follows a college student named Molly who is home for the summer to help take care of her mom because she has dementia. If that isn’t enough on the young girl’s plate she finds a missing persons flyer of a girl named Lucy who went missing 20 years prior and happens to look just like her. From that point on the plot quickly thickens when she learns that her brother used to date Lucy before she went missing. Molly becomes so intertwined in the case that she has to ask herself if everything really is as it seems?
There were many times in the book when I thought I’d solved the mystery, but the plot twists just kept coming! The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book and I could not put it down. Jessica Aiken-Hall did a beautiful job with this story and I can’t wait to read more of her work. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to go down a rabbit hole of mystery and suspense.

Moonlit Kiss : A Venice Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley. This author grabs my attention from page one and keeps me captivated every single book. This one was no exception to that. Once again I found myself completely drawn into the storyline and losing track of time. This author creates a story world worth getting lost in. The characters are complex and relatable, they pulled into their story with ease and I loved my time with them. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next. Five big stars and highly recommended!

Turning Wheels(Satan’s Devils MC #1) by Manda Mellett is the first book i have read by this author. This book did not disappoint me. I have added Manda Mellett to my must read author pile. Turning Wheels is a fantastic read and it had me turning pages from the beginning right to the end. I was not able to put it down. I really enjoyed reading about the characters in this book my favorites were Wraith and Sophie were just amazing, The chemistry was definitely there and fun to follow. I look forward to read more books by Manda Mellett. Thank you for writing a wonderful read.
Travels Through Aqua, Green and Blue: A Memoir by Mary E. Gregory is a moving and heartfelt memoir. It was so compelling from the moment I started reading it. The way the author takes you on this journey with her, the highs and the lows, is incredible. You feel everything she is writing about and can really imagine the life she lived. Memoirs aren’t something I read very often as I tend to find fall into the trope of “you’ve read one, you’ve read them all”. However this book is most definitely the exception to that rule. It is entertaining, emotional and thought provoking. I enjoyed every moment of reading this book and I already know I will be reading it again!

This book picks up right at the end of book two. Lady Isra has survived her battle with Everilda, but something has changed in her. She doesn’t seem to be quite as dark as before and Astrid is concerned that she may have lost her immortality. Contessia is still around, but because of Isra’s distraction she lounges around the tower staying away from evreryone. This book shows that everything happens for a reason, and if you are patient enough, you’ll learn that reason. I adore the relationship between Isra and Astrid and want more!!!

I love second chance romance stories, they tend to hold so many more feelings. This one was no exception, and the basis of the story lumped on even more emotions that hit me right in the feels. Kayla dealt with so much heartache, and loss, and the damaging relationship with Roy. She was strong and resilient, despite it all, and I love that in a female lead. Jaxon was… near perfect. He did everything right to get Kayla back into his life. And that ending! I was shocked. This is the second book I’ve read by Amy McKinley now, and I’ll definitely be back for more!

Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romance is a fantastic romantic suspense novel by Amy McKinley. I have been a huge fan of Amy McKinley’s writing for a couple of years now and she never fails to impress me with every new book she brings out. Not since Sylvain Reynard’s Gabriel’s Inferno series have I wanted to visit Italy so much. This book has totally made me dream of visiting Venice one day. I absolutely loved Gianna and Sergio’s story, told alongside Sophia and Giovanni’s story. I loved the way that the 2 stories were interlinked leading up to a fantastic finale. As well as these four there is an excellent cast of secondary characters from the wonderful Cat to the extremely evil Lucia. I’ve said in other reviews and I’ll say it here. For me one of the true marks of a great author is how much they get you hate the bad guy (or woman) and believe me, I hated Lucia with a passion. I was totally hooked by Moonlit Kiss from the very first pages and was glued to the story throughout. I was eager to see how Sophia and Giovanni’s tale of woe would unfold. Amy McKinley has an amazing talent of writing an amazing story that will have you eagerly turning the page and not wanting to put the book down and Moonlit Kiss is most definitely in this class. Worth more than 5 stars!

I have read books by this author previously and I know how can be so I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy listening to them bit, I actually did. They narration was good – the stories definitely came across as delicious and sinful as intended. There were 7 books in total – some shorter than others but generally around an hour for each one give or take. They were as I expected – a little bit naughty and a whole lot of sinful! I really like this author and his writing style it is very engaging and not too over the top.
Author Misty Hayes has hit a winner out of the park. This book was an amazing suspenseful, thrilling, tear inducing, emotional ride of teenager Zoey. Zoey is a high school student who has been having nightmares of being abducted when she was 5 years old. No one in her family will speak about what happened but they are very protective of her. Zoey likes to keep to herself and doesn’t have many friends except for the gorgeous all around all star Trevor until Cruz shows her friendship.
Life as she knows it, changes when Gabriel Stanton shows up at their door on Thanksgiving. The truth is exposed and all heck breaks loose. People are going in all different directions. Some to safety and some to another realm. Hold onto your pants because this is a tension filled ride. Just when you think the author has gotten to the pinnacle height she tops that and has you gaping. I found I was holding my breath as I read. Misty Hayes… wow wow wow. I need more of this.

You will enjoy this and I personally can’t wait for the next book.

This was truly a heartfelt story and beautifully written. I personally loved the story the background, the characters and how the story progressed.
Reading this I found it very touching and sweet as well as a book to shine light even for those of us who are facing the darkest times of our life.
The girl in the story who is named Tally, had recently lost someone very close to her and though she knew she needed to be strong in spirit, you could tell a heavy weight was being carried in her heart. (I had a strong relation to this as I too just suffered a great loss in my life and reading about Tally I often taught to myself that is how I feel…its hard, really hard, but you have to be strong and keep going on even if you don’t know what you are going to face next because things feel so unknown.)
Through a surprise and yet beautiful inheritance of this necklace from her late mother, whom was the loss she was had recently experienced and was working though. I felt upon reading that Tally was immediately drawn to it. At that time there were reasons unknown. Further reading, I learned as well as Tally did that it contained a wonderful gift, an angel whom had the name of Jophiel.
Right away I got the sense of there’s a reason to why Tally has an angel. But what was the reasons for this? I had to continue on to learn more.
Continuing on Tally realized she had to face a great adventure and she was basically destined for this task. There was an issue of the people and children of India being in undergoing danger. And Tally knew in her heart she had to help them and not stand by and allow this. Things happen for a reason and Tally felt she was chosen for this path as well as adventure and she wasn’t going to let anything stop her from finishing her chosen role.
More reading, you could see how Strong of a character Tally was and is! She had to face dangers and uncertainty. There was powerful moments in the journey of the adventure Tally faced with Jophiel. Tally was and is a character that is very commendable and able to be a great role model for young children. Not only did she have to go thru grief, but also take on a task that was not only dangerous, but it was also a task not knowing what the true outcome would be. There was basically many tests and positive and negative occurrences that Tally and Jophiel faced. They did what they had to do in the end.
All in all, this was a beautiful and well written story. It was a impact and a great read, and I truly enjoyed this story from start to finish. I look forward very much to the next part. I will defiantly be getting a copy to read for myself.

What a gripping read! The descriptive language really brought the book to life. I loved the different twists and turns – it definitely kept me guessing the whole way through. I really enjoyed this book; it was a nice contemporary romance read. I haven’t read anything by this author previously and I liked her writing style, it was easy to read and the flow was good. One thing I really liked was how much emotion the author put into the story, I found it made the characters really relatable and that definitely makes a story more enjoyable for me. Hadley was a lovely character, very sweet and a little naïve. I loved the relationship between Nick and his grandfather, it definitely provoked some memories from me about relationships with my grandparents at that age. Overall a lovely read and an author who I would definitely like to read more from again in the future.

Anyone who has ever fallen in love with a close friend can relate to In His Kiss by Ava Alise. This is the first installment in The Unrequited Series, and I found myself really adoring the two main characters. Xia and Jordan, after a night of fun and drinking, step beyond the friend boundary and sleep together. What Jordan tells Xia the next morning made my heart ache for her! I became so invested in this story that I literally threw my book! However, the good thing about these two is that they do remain supportive and considerate of each other, even though they no longer know quite how to navigate their friendship. This is the first book by this author that I’ve picked up, and I am glad I did. I will be looking forward to seeing where Jordan and Xia’s relationship goes from here. This is an easy and quick read for me – it is not hard to fall through the pages into their world. 4 stars.

If you are looking for a story that keeps you wondering what will happen next, you have found it! If you want a compelling story with greater characters then you have found it.
When Zoey, a young girl learns the truth behind her disappearance at the age of 5, her life is thrown into a world of surprise! This story takes you along with her as she discovers what truly happened that night and the other secrets that have been held from her! It’s a whirlwind of emotions, heartbreak, and family.
If you want action that keeps you in suspense throughout a book this is a great one to read. It keeps you on your toes with twists and turns while still allowing you to love the characters you are reading about. It does have a bit of YA feel to it with the two main characters being young but the author does a great job of making an older audience feel welcome with the addition of the supporting characters.
I didn’t realize this was a spin-off to The Blood Dagger trilogy until after I had already started this book. I haven’t read the trilogy but imagine it may have helped with the storyline in Shield and Shade if I had read it before. Simply meaning I would have seen the bigger picture a bit clearer. This book explains the necessary bits and pieces and can be read alone and still quite enjoyable.
Overall, I loved the storyline in this book. It captivates you and keeps you wondering what else could possibly go wrong! The only complaint I had was the switching perspectives sometimes lost me and I would have to take a second to get into the mindset of the next characters (which is likely my issue as a reader haha!) But in general, this story was great and worthy of reading. It definitely reminds me of Mortal Instruments and stories along those lines. I look forward to reading more from this author!

This is a sweet moving story perfect for young readers. It is full of love and hope but it is also action packed.
I loved the mixture of angels and gods and the war against good and evil. The fact that Tally had an angel by her side but still had to find a way to overcome her obstacles on her own is a good lesson to teach children.
The story itself is great, full of action and adventure with some heartwarming moments. I really enjoyed it.

Tally is a thirteen year old girl who has just lost her mother, she is distraught even though she knew it was coming and her dad feels the same, but when he talks about a future without her, what he describes seems like the worse thing that could happen to Tally, he wants to leave her behind as a boarding student at her school, but she end up telling him exactly how awful it is there and why, she held back before so she wouldn’t worry her mum, so when she asks her dad to take her with him, he agrees to consider it. After this conversation, he gives her a letter and a gift from her mum, in the letter Tally’s mum tells her about what is in the box, it turns out that it is a pendant of the Angel Jophiel and that it will protect and guide her throughout her life until it is ready to be passed to someone else as it has been passed to her. All Tally wants to do is cry herself to sleep, but she is drawn to the small marble angel which looks so real, so she slips it over her head as she falls asleep and feels like she is surrounded by feathers as she sleeps.
As the time passes and she gets used to the idea of her changed circumstances, her dad tells her that she can go with him on his travels and continue her schoolwork as they go, he then tells her that he has been asked to go to India to help a colleague out and that they will leave in the morning, so Tally heads to her room to pack. As she is doing this, he thoughts go to her school friends and how she wants to rub it is]n that she doesn’t have to go to school anymore, it is at this point that the Angel Jophiel begins to talk to her and adminish her for her thoughts and this is where their companionship and friendship start, he will answer whenever she calls to him, be in out loud or in her head and he will support and guide her as she explores the world with her dad.
Once all the arrangement are made, Tally and her dad set off for India, it is Tally’s first time flying and she is more than excited and this stays that way when they land, they are met at the airport and taken to the house they will be staying in, this is where Tally meets her dad’s friend and the lady who will be looking after them. After she unpacks, Tally walks round the garden and as she is talking to her Angel, she runs into a boy called Balvan who she talks to and invites to meet her dad when she mentions going to the Taj Mahal the next day. As the four talk, they find out about a case the local police are working on surrounding children going missing around India, so they are warned to take care and not go anywhere by themselves, but Tally is fine with this and agrees to it.
The next few days are taken up with schoolwork in the mornings and sightseeing in the afternoons, however, when she becomes embroiled in the mystery of the disappearing children, will she and Jophiel be able to solve the mystery in time to stop the plot, or will it be too late and the flood bear down on India? This is a charming tale of friendship and how it can heal hearts, as well as having a healthy dose of mystery solving which will keep you entertained all the way through.

I wish I had this book years ago when our special needs journey started. Its very isolating and all you want is someone in your corner saying you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing and no ones path is exactly the same. As a mother of a special needs child this hit home and gave a voice to thoughts ive had for 13 years. Reading about her and her daughters journey felt like talking with a friend. I recommend this to anyone even if you dont have this journey to walk yourself, chances are you know someone or you will and this helps open your eyes to many things we go through and how you can just be there
