Houses of Deception by Cynthia Hamilton is Book 6 of the Madeline Dawkins Series. I am glad that I’ve been able to read the books in this series in order. It helps a lot to know the characters and their experiences. The personal and work relationship between Madeline and Mike is refreshing. I love that they’ve seen each other through good and bad times and know when the other might be having a difficult time.

In this book, Madeline and Mike take on two missing person cases that are dumped on their laps. This is not the usual case and when one of the cases turns into a kidnapping they know they are in over their heads. But Madeline and Mike stick with the husband to help him through the problem. The other missing case is close to Madeline’s heart, the missing man is the son of a private detective that helped Madeline when she was in trouble and who was ultimately killed because he was helping Madeline. The story kept my attention and I appreciate that the two cases were written in a way to keep the reader from getting them mixed up. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
