My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have you ever been so frustrated, overtired and filled with so much RAGE that only one little thing will push you over the edge….. Well this is where Marcy finds herself. One nightmare has driven her to the brink of uncomfortable RAGE. She’s alienated everyone close to her. And now to make matters worse the man she loves has given her an ultimatum, she has to get help or it’s over (what an ass).
Just when she thinks life can’t get any worse she gets held at gunpoint…. that’s when it happens, that’s the point where her RAGE gets pushed over the edge of no return.
But as luck will have it, that’s when she meets the one person that might just be able to get her back from the brink of disaster.

This is a, on the edge of your seat, nail bitting, page turning kind of book.
Linda Burson knows how to hook you into a book coma. Marcy is a very well thought out character. The storyline definitely leaves you wondering. Don’t blink or you will miss something and believe me you will not want to miss anything.
Great start to a great series.

And what makes this even better is you het the first 3 books in 1!!!!
That’s a bonus because believe my you’re not gonna want to stop after the first book

I’ve got many things going on in my life right now that are super emotional. I have trouble sometimes letting those emotions out and although I can not relate to the exact subject of this book, except for the love a mother feels for her child, I can absolutely relate to the emotions it brought to the surface. This was one of the most beautiful, heartfelt, heartbreaking stories I have ever read. The writing had such a perfect flow that before I knew it, I was done with tears pretty much all the way through.

I did not read the first book in this series but it didn’t seem like I absolutely had to to understand and fall right into this book. Now I am sorry I didn’t read the first one but will as soon as possible and have also added this author to my watch list.

This is my first book ever by this author but will absolutely not be the last! I can not wait for the next book in this series.

The suspense in this book kept you on your toes, you are so into the characters that all of sudden something happens and you are shocked. When you think it couldn’t possibly get worst or that nothing else could happen to our amazing strong independent heroine you are wrong!
The ending threw me for a loop, I thought all was peaceful and calm and the book took a different turn!
I love the relationship she has with her daughter, it is nice to see her daughter support her through the hurricaine that was their father. There isnt much info on the son but that seems typical after the ordeal and the mess he had to pick up now managing all the stores by himself.

This is a beautiful and emotional story. As a parent it really tugs at my heart to imagine the pain that Betty goes through and also the pain and confusion Marlena goes through.

Betty and her boyfriend are madly in love and are planning to get married. However when Betty finds out she is pregnant her parents put into action a plan which will change all there lives for ever. This is the 1950’s and a child out of wedlock and at a young age is frowned upon. So against Betty’s wishes she is placed in a school for naughty girls and when her baby is born she gives her up for adoption.

No fast forward to 1980s and Marlena is living her life. She has it all. A loving partner who she plans on marrying, a job she loves as a midwife and loving parents.

When her father is taken ill and needs a kidney transplant Marlena doesn’t hesitate to volunteer to be tested. That’s when her parents drop the bomb shell  and destroy her world. Her parents are her adoptive parents not her biological ones.
Now Marlena is on a mission to find her real parents and learn their story.
Will Marlena be able to find them or will she be too late to get the answers she is looking for.

I was a little skeptical of this book at first. Some sci-fi books tend to have the same themes. But this book was quite surprising. It was planned out very well in regards to the story line. I love the accept of it being no so in the distant future. The society and how it functions in this book are all but too real! Fantastic.

WOW! This book immediately grabbed me and I couldn’t put it down. This author is new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill ride this took me on, in part because it is a highly plausible scenario. It made me think and consider current events as well as implications of next developments. If you want a thought provoking read that will keep you on your toes, this is a must read.

No Way Out is the first book I have read by Amy McKinley. It is also the first time I’ve read this genre in a while! Overall, the story was really good! It was dramatic, tense, and action-packed. Amy McKinley did a great job at building the relationship between Lil and Max. Throughout the book, I could feel the chemistry and connection between the two characters. I will be on the lookout for more by this author!

Ever want to read a romcom that unfolds like one of your favorite binge worthy movies? Are you like me and miss the classic Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan banter or watching Sandra Bullock hilariously carry another comedy toward a happy ending? This book was just such a fun read for me. The characters were real and I loved the witty dialogue. It unfolded before like a beloved Saturday afternoon flick. I love this author’s ability to pull me right in and cannot wait to read this again.

This was a pretty interesting read. Since the book was short, the action was fast moving which I appreciated as I believe that if the book was longer, it would have been drawn out. I enjoyed the supernatural hook into the Hawaiian culture. I would be interested to read others in the Doctor Danger series to see other links to culture and the supernatural in other places. Overall, the plot made sense, the story was engaging and I would definitely read more in the series.

The sequel following Forbidden Wolf, Forbidden Mate follows the story of Tasha and Levi right where we left off in the first book. Many series I’ve read in the past begin to lose their luster after the first book, but C.R. Robertson doesn’t disappoint! With the same epic world-building, C.R. Robertson delivers this sequel with a firm grip on our attention with action, fantastic twists, and an intense love story. In Forbidden Mate, Tasha and Levi uncover certain truths behind past events and continue fighting to take out their hellish enemies. We’re taken deeper into the world of the supernatural and once-again craving the next book.

She set out to prove to herself she can do it and she did. That includes her used to be best friend Levi. They are pushed together for a project. Will their hearts get pushed back together again? I loved their chemistry and just connection. I pinky swear you won’t regret reading this series!! I could not recommend this more!!

Oh, my shadows! This is the second book in this series and it picks up right where the first left off. I enjoyed the forbidden angle of their love in the first book. With the accords approved their love is approved even though it is still a fight to prove themselves. As if that wasn’t enough as they also have the hellspawn growing in strength. Causing more strife for Lycans and vampires alike. I cant wait to see how this series plays out. The story is not like others I have read.

We once again join our leading characters Tasha and Levi. Although their union of vampire and lycan has been approved through the accords. It’s still not 100% accepted.

This book starts off right where the previous ended. And there is not a moment without action happening. The hellspawn are getting stronger and they are learning more each day. But sometimes the enemy is right under your lycan noses.

Tainted was a really enjoyable read. It didn’t take me long to become fully absorbed in what I was reading. This is the first book that I have read by this author and definitely won’t be the last. I really like the main character, Liz; she had been through so much in her life and she dealt with it so well. She was a likeable character and I enjoyed reading about her. The cabin in the mountains that she went down sounded so lovely and idyllic, definitely what Liz needed after everything with her husband. Sparks definitely flew when she was faced with someone from her past. I loved the twists and turns in the story, the author did a great job with the suspense running through the book.
Overall, I thought this was a great read and one I would highly recommend.

The excitement continues in book two of this series. The love between Levi and Tasha continues to defy the odds. Law states that they are sworn enemies yet they are fated mates. The alliance between the Lycans and the Vampires have only made them stronger to defeat the new enemy. Just as they are evolving, so are the Hellspawn. They too are learning and evolving, becoming a formidable foe. The master hellspawn wants one thing only. The one thing Levi will burn the world to protect; Tasha. There are enemies within as well. Each day poses a new problem.

Action, danger, vampires and werewolves. What more could you want? The author keeps drawing you in by adding layers to the plot. There are unexpected surprises as well. This series gets better with each book. I can’t wait to read the next instalment.

Forbidden MateForbidden Mate by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is filled and I mean filled with ACTION! It has other elements like drama, suspense and of course the relationships. While I loved all the action and drama my favorite is the relationship between Tasha and Levi! His protective possessiveness of her just made my heart pound. I loved seeing it every time from him pushing her behind and putting his arm across her in dangerous times to actually fighting anyone who is unfriendly to her. Tasha isn’t a pushover and can hold her own especially when her mate is threatened. Their connection is what makes this so much more.

The storyline was busy and fast paced. I like all the ups and downs that this story took. I enjoyed the character movement plus we get to see a lot of new characters. I am not sure where or which way the story is headed. I have been surprised more than once in here. Very Enjoyable

Raven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Raven Woman's TavernRaven Woman’s Tavern by Laura Koerber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a first time read for me by this wonderful author, and most certainly shall not be my last. I was truly captivated by the writing. The story itself was captivating it self, but the surrounding elements completely sucked me in. It was like a siren’s song, pulling you more in with every passing page.

The book gave me a great insight and introduction of people as well as surrounding things, to me that was more that intriguing. The feelings I got when I read were undeniable. I felt a lot of heavy feelings. The author did a wonderful job with that impact. Again, this was a book that really makes you consider all you have, and make you feel for those who really struggle in day to day life.

The story centered around a town that is basically fighting to survive each and every day. The details shared to us as the reader, is very heavy on the heart to say the least You feel for the people in this village and I kept thinking how lucky we are in todays society to have what we have, and we actually should be more appreciative than what we are. The town is closely watched, and day basically go day by day and as I tried to make clear, this life this town has is far from easy, or even predictable. It made me feel sad and helpless for these poor souls, but in truth this could be out world one day as well. It very much can be unavoidable if we do not play our cards correct. The story itself was a big eye opener for me.

The story was a easy flowing read, and it was beautiful and sad at times, yes. It made me feel very connected even more than I was when my first started meeting the characters. There were things I did not expect as I read through, that just made it all more intriguing. I really enjoyed this read and I will admit, I wanted more to read when I completed it, there so much words and questions of mine that I wanted. The author kept me in suspense at times. I highly recommend reading this to any reader, its something I feel we all should read in our life time. This was a unique book, and not one to be passed up.

I loved this book as much as the first one in this series. These stories portray how real problems can be for a young teen boy. This might be a story for the young but I seriously enjoyed it and I believe it was because of the writing style of this author. She makes you want to read more after every page.

I have to admit I went back and forth as Rocky struggled with his mom’s impending marriage and the man she chose to marry. I truly had no idea how this story was going to end, and was thrilled with how it all played out. Rocky learned a great lesson about communication in this story and how important it is.

I love the friendship and family aspect of these stories, and have already recommended these for reading by a couple of my grands.

Can’t wait for more from this author.

Drew: Book One of the Perfectly Independent Series by Amanda Shelley is a YA college romance story. It is a story of first love. Abby sees Drew as a jock with an attitude and Drew thinks she is a nerd, so they quickly chucked each other in the friend zone. I enjoyed the banter that was tossed between them as they go from friend zone to something more. They both have ambition and a plan in place for their futures so will achieving their passion come before love? I loved the humour between their friends and the slow burn build of their relationship. This romance story has some angst and moments of sadness but overall, it is a fun and sweet read.

Deadly Words (Born Bad Book 1) by Meghan O’Flynn
Genre – Crime thriller, domestic thriller, serial killer fiction/mystery
Page Count – 270 pages
A friend once told me that the world needs psychopaths, but I’m not sold that the world needed my father. I only know that I did.
Poppy Pratt was a teenager when she watched her father murder her boyfriend. Only a child when she made the call that would put her dad away for the rest of his life. She watched the sheriff lead him off, her father still laughing at the Alabama moon, his arms slick with Shawn’s blood.
Eighteen years later, Poppy is a chiropractor with a thriving practice and a house in the Vermont suburbs. She even goes on the occasional date. So, when a mysterious stranger shows up at her house claiming that her father is stalking him, Poppy blows him off. Her dad is in prison—psychopath or not, he’s no threat. And though this man is writing a book about her dad, she can see no reason for anyone to go after him.
But then Poppy receives an unmarked package, and her carefully constructed world begins to crumble. A severed ear would throw most anyone off their game. The stranger was right—it might not be her dad, but someone is watching, and they’re after Poppy, too. Could it be an angry family member of one of her father’s victims? An obsessed serial killer fan? But even when Poppy’s new author friend is viciously attacked, she can’t call the police. Shawn wasn’t her father’s only victim, and her stalker clearly knows enough to implicate her in her father’s crimes.
It seems she’s destined to go down the same way her father did—with her hands covered in blood. The only question is whether she’ll be the one holding the knife.
Skillful, addictive, and crackling with nerve-fraying tension, Deadly Words is a thrilling joyride straight into hell. And O’Flynn ensures that you’ll never want to leave. If you like Gillian Flynn and Gregg Olsen, you’ll love the Born Bad series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This Sci-Fi Thriller is full of suspense and the most unexpected twists and turns. This futuristic story captured my attention, and had me on edge from start to finish. It raises a great deal of question about our dependence on technology, and the role humans may one day play as things advance.
Effacement takes places in a complete digital world in which everyone is equipped with a chip that is in a sense the essence of your existence and attached to every aspect of your life. This chip records every aspect of your daily life and daily functions require its use. When Cole the chips creator is attacked and his chip removed it begins a downward spiral of events. With his memories erased he becomes wanted by the law, and must go to extremes to clear his name. This book will keep you on your toes, and will be worth every page until the end.

I liked the flow of this book and the relationship between the best friends. It captured what I have always thought best friend should be. The author did a great job and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I am so happy that I opted to read this book. This author is new to me, and she’s very much a hidden gem. She constructed this story that takes you outside the box, and in a sense outside of your comfort zone. There was so much beauty and depth in the way the story was told. It was a lighter side of a sometimes dark and sad subject. The characters form a bond on this journey and you feel their connection as they strive to experience their last days living life to fullest. As you watch each person navigate this experience, and you get a glimpse of how their life has revolved up to this point it brings upon your own personal reflection of life. Life is what you make it, and each day is an unknown, but that is the beauty of being alive.
