THE MARCY SERIES BOXSET: BOOKS 1-3 by Linda J. Burson – Review by Shannon Fowler

The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3 by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book set is a great way to start this series! And you must start at the beginning!

This first book is an interesting story. I felt like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time I was reading this book. The plot is a good one, with the main character, Marcy, experiencing some unexplained nightmares and rage. Her boyfriend, Brad, tries to make her understand that people are beginning to fear her. This just makes her angrier. Brad is by no means perfect and has his own problems. This couple gets engaged but sadly it doesn’t last long when they discover they have major problems to work out. Because Marcy didn’t have enough going on in her crazy life, she meets Liam.

I enjoyed this story because I experienced a range of emotions with the characters from their experiences. A little rage myself at the hospital scene. I have found that Brad tends to bring out my worst feelings. However, when Marcy meets Liam, that relationship brings out my swoony type feelings. (Although I think they are rushing things.)

I did not think that Marcy’s rage was all that out of control. Although when she learned to control it she seemed to be able to rather quickly. I think there could have been more situations where she was out of control. There were situations where she should have been out of control but she was rather passive. Marcy is a very likeable character and I cannot wait to see how and when Burson gives Marcy a happily ever after.

Confusion is book two in the Marcy series. In this book Marcy seems to have her rage still under control. After she met Liam in book one she learns there is a better outlet for her rage. In Confusion she is given more opportunities to let that rage loose. Her real confusion is loving two men and it is making me crazy! I really don’t know how one person could do it. She is much stronger than she thinks. However, I would like to see Brad become a little stronger himself. He seems weak through the first half of the book. And then he kind of goes MIA. Leaving us to wonder what he is cooking up.

Liam’s past is still a mystery and his current life as a vigilante keeps him mysterious. I hope when all is said and done he isn’t a bad guy! I am still #teamliam though-out this book!

Again, Burson’s writing style makes this storyline easy to read. I want a happily ever after and Marcy just can’t make a choice…I really don’t blame her…much.

To get the whole story you must read before book one, Rage, before reading Confusion. I love the titles that the author has given to these books. Perfect! However, my feelings are mixed about the main characters. Liam, Marcy and Brad…make a choice already! I did wish there was a bigger wow factor for the cliff hanger but I am still going to read the next book, Agony and Ecstasy. That sounds about right for these characters! I can’t imagine what Burson has in store for these three!

Ok here we go. Agony and Ecstasy is the third book in the Marcy Series. Will it be the last? With that ending I certainly hope not!

Here’s what causes Marcy’s rage, confusion, agony AND ecstasy!

“My life seems to be running in slow motion, and I can’t speed it up no matter what I do. I still think of Brad all the time, but I’m not missing him the way I’m missing Liam. Isn’t that interesting?”

To me this story had more agony than ecstasy. I just can’t like Brad. Everyone else does, Marcy, her friends, her parents, maybe even Linda Burson herself. I really am trying. I was #teamliam all through book 2 but this time he makes some choices and does some things that makes me wonder just what is really going on.

I can tell you this author likes twists! Major twist at the half way mark, another twist before the wedding, minor twist at the wedding, twist with Liam and Marcy, twist with Brad and Marcy. Can you understand the main character’s confusion? agony?

This story had good writing as the first two books did. This story focuses on Marcy’s confusion about loving these two great men. This story has a bittersweet happy ending but I didn’t like it…remember I am #teamliam. I felt no closure with this ending so let’s see what Burson can bring in the next book.
