Kingdom of Embers: Extended Finale (Kingdom Journals #1) by Tricia Copeland

Not the first read by Copeland. Kingdom of Embers is a great start of a new series. Alena and Chase are amazing and I can’t wait for the next book.

Alena is a hybrid and isn’t sure what exactly she’s supposed to be doing. She goes to school with the humans and isn’t allowed to mingle with others. She sees someone who she thinks is an imaginary friend she made up in her mind. The quote I chose for Alena is: “Does she remember what it’s like to be a teenager? Can I get a replacement for her? Or at least a refund?”

Chase sees Alena and waits until the next time he sees her. He asks the hardest question about Ivy. They start hanging out but her mom doesn’t know. The quote I chose for Chase is: “Do you think about her often? I hadn’t thought about you since kindergarten. Mom said I cried for weeks.”

Highly recommended for YA Fantasy lovers.
