Wow this book is definately not for the faint hearted. It is quite a brutal read and has scenes that some readers may feel is a trigger. However if you aren’t affected then this books is an amazing read. It has everything, murder, mystery, lies and deceit, Mafia families and romance. I don’t want to go into the story because it will give it away but it is such a good read that I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting.
I loved our leading lady Liz. She is such an amazing strong character and even after all the trauma and abuse she goes through she still can love and trust which is amazing to read.
Moving to a new country with his daughter, rockstar Luke, is trying to do right by his little girl. But his attraction to the nanny could spell trouble.
Nikki has had her eye on Luke for some time and she is living with him as his daughters nanny. When there’s a possibility that he might felt the same, will she risk her job?
I have not read any of the previous novels but I really enjoyed this. I don’t read rockstar novels often but I’m glad I picked this up.
It was a quick read, with great lovable characters but I could not put it down.
Nikki’s personality I just loved and Luke talking about his past just broke my heart.
I plan on reading the other books in the series to know more about the characters and their stories.

What can I say!! Seeing as I have not read the first, this one is the second book but holds its own! This book is about heartbreak, second chances and deserving to find happiness and love. There are many emotions in this book and you feel them all as you read along. Breckin and Griff are so deserving of love and everyone is rotting for it to happen. Definitely a must read and can’t wait for more!!!

Cade is the third book in the Default Distraction series. Cade is the drummer of a popular U.S. rock band called Default Distraction. He is a bad boy that’s used to getting what he wants and has never been scared to go after anything in his life. As the drummer of a popular rock band, he is used to women falling all over him and being able to pick and choose whoever he wants. Then suddenly everything changes when the lead guitarist’s little sister re-enters his life. Cade falls hard for her and wants her, but she wants nothing to do with him; or so she says.
Cade is so used to having women fawn all over him that he finds it hard to take no for an answer from Winter who is not easily impressed by his rock band popularity. Winter turns him down at every turn, but Cade won’t take no for an answer. He doesn’t know what it is about her, but he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. As hard as he pushes her to fall for him, she continuously turns him down and pushes him away. What Cade doesn’t realize, and Winter won’t admit, is that she finds it harder and harder to resist him. The chemistry and sexual tension between Cade and Winter is intense. Cade will stop at nothing to make Winter his girl. He knows what they have is real but it’s going to take a lot of convincing. Winter is hardheaded and comes across as being cold-hearted. She refuses to let her guard down and is purely focused on running her business and making a success of herself. She can’t let any man gets in her way and stop her.
This book was intense and hard to put down! I became completely absorbed into the story and the lives of Cade and Winter. The relationship between them appeared hostile yet the sexual tension between them was undeniable and mind blowing. I had to keep reading to find out if either was ever going to let their guard down and let the other one in. Both have their own heartbreaking backstories and fear getting hurt. They both come across as tough but deep down it is because they’ve put a wall around their hearts so that they don’t get hurt. The story was one that I could not put down until I had finished reading the final page to see if there was going to be a happy ever after between Cade and Winter.

From the very beginning this book has your attention and questioning what in the world is going on and what happened?! I really enjoyed this book. Lauren’s character is so real and entertaining to read what she goes through throughout the chapters. Each chapter keeps you guessing and thinking hard about the situation. Keeps you on your toes until the very end! I definitely recommend this read and can’t wait to read more.
The author did a great job with character development, and the book gets pretty steamy and graphically detailed during BDSM scenes. I kind of feel like there could be some spin-offs of this novel giving more of a backstory to both of the main characters, Hud and Mary Beth, or there could have been more revealed in this novel leading up to their meeting.
The short amount of time (less than a week, really) that Mary Beth was Hud’s Mistress seems like a super tight timeline for the two of them to make the progress they made in their relationship, and made it feel less realistic to me, even if some of the scenes got intense. The book was unpredictable in how it progressed and ended, though, and the epilogue kind of helped tie up the story nicely.

Wow. This was incredibly written. It was one of my first m/m fantasy reads and it did not disappoint at all. Everything was so detailed and pieced together so beautifully. From the cultural perspective of Archeron , an outcast shifter typer, because of his calling to usher the dead. Errapel is so wonderful and I just fell in love with them both so much. They came from two separate worlds but their hearts called them to each other despite what the laws and people said. Oh my word this was amazing and definitely needed more.
This is a detailed and rich story that takes you on journey right from the first page. I found the whole story to be so interesting. It is completely different to what I would expect from this author but it was a great story nonetheless. It was easy to imagine what the author was describing. The settings, the characters were all vivid and real. The author really does pull you into the story and it feels like you are experiencing it with the main character. I thought this was a well written book that is certainly worth your time.

5 Stars Practically Pagan – An Alternative Guide to Magical Living by Maria DeBlassie
I absolutely loved this book. Going in I wasn’t really sure what to expect. As with any book I’ve read by this author I’m simply amazed by her style of writing and her attention to detail. She’s also really good at giving you what you didn’t realize you needed. That’s exactly what I got with this book. From the beginning to end I was hooked and had a hard time putting it down. Sometimes we need to add a little magic into our lives and this book will show you how. I highly recommend reading this book. It helped to lighten my mood and put a smile on my face. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

If I thought I needed the tissues for the first book in this duet then I was wrong because I needed a bucket load more for this book. Oh my gosh what an emotional roller-coaster I have been on with Tori and Will. I think the author did an absolutely amazing job with this story, to take something that has an impact on so many people and to write about it so beautifully, so raw and truthful is really something special. I felt like I was right there with Tori and Will from the very beginning until the very last word of this book. I laughed with them, I cried with them and I felt every single emotion that they did. Both books have been a pleasure to read and I will definitely be looking forward to more from this author again in the future.
This book is a brilliant dark mafia romance. It is definitely for over 18’s and can be a trigger for some due to the graphic violence and non-consensual sex scenes. I had never previously read any of this author’s work but I do love a good dark mafia romance and was very intrigued by the blurb of this book so decided to give it a try. I’m very glad that I took the chance on this book because I really loved it. Elizabeth (Liz) certainly has a load to deal with. It’s not every person that has 3 mafia bosses all after them, yet that’s what Liz is dealing with. This book is not for the faint hearted or anyone who is squeamish. There is a great deal of very brutal violence dealt out, most of it to Liz and she is the recipient of a great deal of non-consensual sex. If you can handle the violence, there is a fantastic storyline that goes along with it. As well as the non-consensual sex, there are some very steamy consensual sex scenes that get the pulse racing. I was really gripped to this story from the very beginning. The story is fast paced and takes you on an emotional journey with much danger, violence and intrigue along the way. Definitely worth 5 stars and would recommend to those with a stronger stomach.

I am a huge fan of this series. Listening to the book has added such a level of excitement tha tyou just can’t get with reading. The team narrating does a wonderful job. They add the right touch of attitude to the characters. The author dies a fantastic job with the plot. She ties up the plots so they intertwine smoothly.. The plot twists are surprising and a surprise that you don’t see coming. The characters are just that, very much personalities unto themselves. They all somehow get along fairly wall to make a cohesive “family.” She is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to check out more of her books on audio. These are really nice for a road trip (as long as the kids aren’t in the car.) I would recommend for the over 18 age group. It is a little steamy.

Elizabeth “Liz” Finely loves the tv show Spooks. Liz loves it so much that she decides to find out if MI5 operates the same way as it does in the show. Liz scopes out the headquarters and starts observing the goings on there. She gets caught. This sends Liz’s life spiraling in new directions.
Marco Lucianno is the Don of the Italian Mafia. Marco decides that he needs to own Liz. Not only because she is valuable in his world but because she seems to have stolen his heart. When Liz’s past brings war to Marco’s doorstep, Marco must make some difficult choices.
This fast-paced twisted tale of Liz’s past, present and future that come crashing together explode in brutal fashion. Liz is devastatingly thrown into the underworld. Three families battle over Liz for reasons that she will soon learn. Liz will find that she is stronger and more resilient than she ever thought she could be after the suffering at the hands of all the families. As Marco and Liz’s futures become further entwined, the future becomes more of a question than ever before.
I was hooked from the moment Liz was busted for reconning the MI5 Headquarters. This quick moving story has many twists and turns. The ending is surprising. I couldn’t believe that one woman could cause so much trouble for so many different crime families. Liz is amazing. Her resolution is truly remarkable.
Content Warning: This book contains graphic depictions of violence, sexual assault, and torture. This is intended for mature audiences only.

Luke is the fourth book in the Default Distraction series. From the first page this book hooked me, and I was eager to learn more about who Luke was. Luke is a man that knows little about his past or where he came from. His early life is quite tragic, and because of that he feels like there’s a piece of himself that’s missing. Luke’s rock band, Default Distraction, is highly successful but no amount of money, fame, fortune, or fans can replace the piece of Luke that is missing. Despite his early beginnings, he is determined to become a better person and to give his young daughter the life that he never had. Luke is determined to be there for his little girl and always protect her and wants his daughter to know the sense of having family and belonging.
Nikki has had a quite different upbringing than Luke and comes from a very close-knit family. Suddenly tragedy strikes and her world is turned upside down. Nikki is now broke, jobless, and no longer feels as though she knows who she is. To provide for herself and her family Nikki takes on the job as nanny for Luke and his young daughter.
What nobody expects is for the sparks to fly between Nikki and Luke. Nikki doesn’t want to risk losing her job or losing the little girl that she has come to love so she tries to deny her attraction to Luke. The chemistry is something that Luke also feels but tries to deny because he does not want to risk losing the woman that his daughter has come to love. The risks are too great for both Nikki and Luke and there is too much at stake for them both to lose. Yet, it is hard to deny the chemistry and attraction between the two of them. Will they risk losing everything to be together?
Luke had great characters in it, and I loved learning more about the backstory of the character of Luke. It is very well written and is a story unlike most others. Although it could be a standalone book and read on its own, I would recommend reading the other three books in the series first.

Broken Chains is a dark romance centering around the mafia and has tons of trigger warnings. Brutality and extremely graphic scenes of sex and violence, secrets and lies…it all fills the pages. If you can look past that, it is actually a great book and awesome storyline. I found this author to be unique in her ability to draw you in, and hold you there, as if you are a bystander watching the scenes unfold. The characters are convincing and not overly done, but also engaging and you find yourself loving and hating each one individually. I will definitely say, Broken Chains is probably NOT for everyone, for the reasons I have already stated, and I did not think it would entice me as much as it did. I really do not want to get into much more, or drop hints into the plot or the twists that come with it, but I will say this book was well written and I will be seeking out others from Karina Kantas immediately. Bravo – 5 stars.
This story gets ☆☆☆☆☆ stars! It is one of the cutest stories to answer that age long question. Is Santa Claus real? I love how this story leaves hope for the children. This author has taken what determines a child’s feelings, and allowed them to help others believe. In all my teaching I have always said “Santa is in the hearts of all people.” As this is what I grew up hearing. These characters are as real as you can get when it comes to school peers. What an awesome way to keep Santa in our hearts. Beautiful pictures bring this story to life. I recommend this book to all parents of young children.

This book is NOT for the faint of heart and this is your trigger warning. It is a very dark Mafia romance that is full of intense suspense.
Elizabeth is a young woman who left singing and writing behind to join the M15 after meeting a man named Alex. Things are going great in her new career until she receives a coded message. Elizabeth soon finds herself being hunted down by 3 mafias and she has to fight for her life. She faces things that would break most people’s minds and likely never survive.
I love Elizabeth. She is a strong, intelligent and caring woman who has been forced to experience unspeakable things and yet she rises up to each challenge and fights.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who isn’t afraid to face the ugly head on and see the beauty that flourishes from it. Trust me Elizabeth’s journey is worth it!

While, this was not exactly as I was expecting, this was a great read. It reads more as a self-help book, rather than a beginners version of pagan magic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book once I really understood the areas being covered/written about. I love how this book covers really good reminders for the work-life balance. There are areas in this book that cover juggling a career along side with family obligations. Also really good reminders and pointers on becoming the best version of yourself.

I can never say no to a book with an assassin as it’s main character! Being the first book in a series, this does not disappoint. The writing style is outstanding. And you get an adventure with a dragon shape shifting assassin, serial killers, and a murder mystery. This is an enjoyable, fast paced read that I could not put down!
Dahlia is a 100 year old dragon shape shifter who was exiled to the world that runs parallel with her own. When the city is threatened by a series of murders and lies, Dahlia is determined to get to the truth. You will have to read this book to find out what twists lie ahead for you as the reader.
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This is for 18+ because it’s a detailed sexual violence book. Broken Chains is a great read.
Liz is a wanna be author and it doesn’t end well for her. She soon changes her mind and goes to school. She is approached with a job offer. The quote I chose for Liz is: “Hey. Where are you? I’ve been waiting ten minutes. Oh, I see. Okay. No- don’t worry. I’ll catch up with you later. Sounds like fun but I can’t make it, something’s come up. You know how it is. No, don’t change your plans. I’ll sort something out. Okay. Yeah, see you soon. Bye.”
Alex is part of the M15 and is watching Liz. They bring her in because they are suspicious of what she is watching them for. He soon finds himself falling for her, but is it too late? The quote I chose for Alex is: “No, it means you’ll be drafting documents, organising meetings and so forth. You’ll learn the ropes, and if you work hard and prove yourself, which I know you will, you’ll move up the ranks.”
The hellspawn have emerged as the true enemy of the vampires and lycans.
Old enemies are now allies, and the power dynamics of a new allied forces tentative, as the vampires and lycans create a new army to fight a threat they never knew existed.
Magic has re-emerged to take its place in the fight for freedom, and secrets begin to erode as the truth is revealed. Danger stalks Tasha and Levi since they are the key to unlock the last of the mysteries. Can they uncover the true origin of their species before its too late to save them from the hellspawn?
An ancient power returns and his revelations could destroy everything they believed was true. Tasha and Levi are stronger together, but evil is determined to keep them apart. They need to put their faith in the strength of their fated connection to find each other in their darkest hour.
A wonderful romantic story A little steamy and a lot of soul-searching. Paisley and Caspian’s story was very easy to dive into and I was very vested in their relationship. Caspian was a very alpha, dominant male who has had opportunities to create a better life for himself while Paisley has had to struggle all her life. I loved the backstory and also the multiple POVs as the added depth made me feel so much more connected. A solid story for romance lovers.

I truly love dark mafia romance, and I always have to prepare myself for how dark It can get. This author is new to me, and I enjoyed the journey she took my imagination on. The suspense, action, drama, intrigue and overall intensity of the story was great. The twists continuously took you into the unknown.
We meet Liz and everything she goes through is unexpected, and it’s quite dark. She goes from her mundane existence to meeting Alex who is an MI5 Agent and from there she begins her spiraling descent into the unthinkable. Her curiosity leads her on some uncharted and dark roads. She endures the unthinkable time and time over, but her strength never wanes. It’s a question of will she break thru or be broken.
