Ember’s Secret is the first book in the Solstice Quartet by Catherine Peace. This is a very original fantasy story with paranormal elements, shifters, magic, family, food, secrets, danger, superb world building, and interesting quirky characters. This wonderful story is woven with, and around, Maori myths and legends. The fact that the story incorporates Maori myths, culture, and cooking really made this story stand out from the crowd and gave it an extra element of interest. I had not read any of the authors work before, so I really didn’t know what to expect- but I love a good fantasy and this one promised to be a little different, what I discovered has certainly piqued my interest and I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. This book is long and entertaining. World War Two is one of my favorite topics to read about. The plot is focused not just on the war but it seems very disconnected. It is a lot of characters and development but it was so entertaining to me that I just kept going. I enjoyed this story however I will not reread. Great plot. I am new to this author, because I enjoyed it I will give it four stars but this is not for everyone. This highlights morals, friendship, love and everything that may make you an individual. There are many time jumps and that is the greatest aspect for me so many view points. Enjoyable yet chaotic.

I love this book!!!! The characters are so hard not to because attached to and throughout the whole book I missed Shane as much as Lee did… but I’m glad she met Finn I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and I wish I knew more about each crew member!!! Like their back stories and what made them who they are now!!! The ending wasn’t what I expected but sometimes that is how it is.

This was a very interesting read. I would recommend reading book one and two first. This was a very quick easy read. A great edition to the series. Can’t wait to keep reading. The king is back, and his love is back on track. What would you do if your secrets were being revealed from your inner circle? I’m honestly hoping to read of the fathers death soon. The characters of this story are very intriguing. Stefano is a fictional hottie and I cannot wait for more. Lies and secrets are sure to soon be revealed. Looking forward to book four.

This book pulled at my heartstrings from the very beginning. Jared has been through so much with his bandmates and family. Losing his mom and sister, he only has his father left. He wants the best care for his father who’s health is going downhill. Jared has a speech impediment which made me love him even more for his imperfection. His father’s new caregiver, aka “cookie”, starts off on the wrong foot. Jared picks up and goes for his first visit in a couple months, with the intent to send her packing. At first meeting, she is not what Jared expected and he sees how much she cares for his dad. This was the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone, I didn’t feel like I had missed anything as this is the first book I have read. Can Jared keep his dad protected? Will Jared and Cookie find their way to each other?

The Box continues on with great world building and enjoyable characters leading up to a perfectly wrapped up ending.

This was a really good book! The writing and storyline were immersive and I easily lost myself in this book. This was interesting because I’ve never read a book about a music star with a stutter, and I really enjoyed that. Madison was sassy which I loved so much. Sassy characters are some of my favorites! This was an amazing read all around emotional to read as well. This series I feel can be read as a standalone, since this is the first book of it I’ve read and I didn’t feel like I missed anything. I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future!

Going into this understanding that it was a quick read, I wasn’t as disappointed with the length, as some readers mentioned. And really, wanting to read more is a GOOD thing. If it was a poorly written book, I’d be happy to put it down. However, I was so intrigued and inspired by the insight and activities in this book, that I didn’t want to put the book down at all. I feel like I could even use some of these activities in my daily practice as a School Nurse during vision screenings and counseling sessions. I love reading about different disabilities and their adventures in the world from the perspective of an actual disabled person. Please read!
The message that’s written in Priscida Finds Greatness is a wonderful message to push along to children, let alone the adults are sharing it with them. However the way it’s written here I feel it could be confusing. I tried to view it through the eyes of a child, but had to read it twice to best understand it.The illustrations are cute. Any child would be all for it. Only thing I’ll say as the reader is that a parent may want to read through this book before sharing it with a child. I say that because you want to make sure that you’re sharing the message, which is Greatness, and not confusing them. Greatness can be shared and found everywhere and that’s the point here. A wonderful message for young and old.
No names to be given is a story that centers around 3 young ladies in the late 1960’s. While their story travels different roads they all land at a maternity home. As we travel with them on their journeys we get to meet Faith, a young lady whose entire dream is to be the youngest Christian recorded artist, Sandy/Candy a local stripper who ran away from home to get away from her stepfather, and Becca a young lady who fell in love with a man not acceptable by her family.
You will cry, laugh, and feel like you are living their story with them. If you enjoy historical fiction or stories based on true events you will love this one!

No Names to be Given is probably the best book I have read all year. It really stuck with me, and I didn’t want to put it down. While it is not advertised as being a true story, it totally could be. This book follows 3 women throughout teen and adulthood, and focuses around the tragic event that ties them together. Three unwed girls in the 1960s, shamed into a maternity home by their parents, and forced to give their children up for adoption. They did not even get to see their child, not knowing if they had a daughter or a son. All 3 had different back stories, again very realistic. This book was especially captivating after the recent events surrounding abortion and women’s rights. I loved that all three women turned out to have wonderful lives, although very different. I did not expect all the events surrounding their adulthood and children, but it was perfect. I love how it all tied together in the end. Highly highly recommend this to all!

There is so much to say about this book. It grabs you from the start and you just want to forget about everything and get to the end of this wonderful love story. What better romance than between a nurse and a rock star. A rock star who actually has a heart and will do anything for his ailing father. This book touches me on so many levels. I work in the healthcare field and I know what depths family members do to make sure that their loved one is being taken care of. I also know what it’s like to deal with sick family members so this book gave me all the feels. This is book 3 in a series and I have never read the other two but that is okay as this series works well as a stand alone, but I will definitely be reading the others!

This is such a lovely book. The poems are absolutely beautiful. It is extremely informative, but not in a boring textbook way. It has several activities in it as well, making learning more fun. This book is perfect for young kids to learn about people with disabilities in a way that they can better understand some of the struggles they face daily. It is also great for older kids and adults as well. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

This book really gives you all the feels. This is my first read of this series and I’m definitely going back to read books 1 and 2. I really enjoyed the author and how she makes you feel you are right there with each character as the story plays out. Lee is what the title says, a thief of magic. Every time she enters the Liminal Realm, she gets torn apart on the inside because of the magic. There’s only one place she can go to try and get healed. The only problem is with all the thieving she’s done with her crew, she’s got the FBI and others on her trail. This book has so much in it that it’s great to read and hard to put down!

There is so much in this book that it was impossible to put down. But a word to wise, if you are easily upset this book may not be for you. This book talks about several sensitive topics including child abuse, racial discrimination, a fear of hopelessness, and more but it really gives you a feel for how things worked in the 1960’s. While this is the authors debut novel, I really loved her writing style, and the way she laid out the plotline for this story. While this book is not for everyone I really enjoyed this thought provoking read. So if you are looking for a unique thought provoking read this weekend, then I recommend this book.

A charming and sweet historical western romance story but it is not all sunshine and roses. There are kidnappings, train robberies and plenty of danger as we see mail order brides on hard times trying for a better life. The authors passion for facts shines through in her writing and makes the story more interesting. The story is intriguing and well written. It is an emotional tale filled with tension and anxiety, heartbreak and hope, frustration, and mystery, lies and deceit, and love. Cora Lee has nothing left to lose or so she thought. Hoping for a better life and someone to love is what she thought she was getting but the lies she found wrecked her. However, fate had something more in store for her. This book was just simply amazing. This author really knows how to write amazing and realistic characters, and she puts so much heart and soul into them that you really feel all of the emotions that they are going through. This book will take you on a wild emotional ride and I would gladly sit through it again. There were times that u laughed, times that my eyes watered, and times that I bawled my eyes out but still couldn’t stop reading. But I really felt for these characters, for the things they had to go through and just life in general. Full of romance, drama, chemistry, family, and of course several emotions this romance story has everything a romance reader could ask for. While it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading them all as this author is just simply amazing and her characters are superb.

This author started out with a bang with this paranormal vampire romance series, and it just keeps on getting better. The narrative makes it so easy to get lost amongst the pages of this deliciously dark tale. With rogue shifters and witches, vampires and things that go bump in the night, the masters have been betrayed and now they fight for survival in their own world. The world building and characters make this tale enticing and delightful and takes you to a place where the world is harsh but with it comes a sense of beauty as they fight to protect their mates. This is the fifth installment to this series and it might be the best one yet. Full of witches, magic, drama and so much more it’s one of the better fantasy books that I have read this year. There were several times that I thought I had this story all figured out and our author threw me a curveball by throwing in more drama or twists and turns. I have read this entire series from book one and personally I would recommend reading them in order. You can read the fifth installment as a stand alone but you’ll have a much better understanding of the world and the story if you read the previous four books. So if you love witches and fantasy, and you need a new book for this weekend I highly recommend this one.

I absolutely loved this story! Time is a precious thing but even after so long, love stands the test. I love our main character and all the glimpses of him we have seen in books throughout other stories and to see him get his time to shine was all i could have wanted to see.

I loved this book. It really made me stop and think about those who experience blindness. The writing is beautiful. The activities included really give you an idea of what it would be like to experience the world without being able to see. I completed the activities with my family and kids. I’m always looking for new ways to help them understand and experience the world from other perspectives. This was the perfect book to do that with. I think this book is a great resource for everyone. I read the kindle version, but plan to order the physical copy to read again and keep it as a resource.

This was another incredible story in this phenomenal series. This is book 5 in the Dark Spell series, a series that should absolutely be read in order. So, if you have not read the first four head on back to get started! This is a series you won’t want to miss!!
Just like the others of the series Kissing Darkness is entertaining, mysterious, detailed, captivating and full of twists and turns which had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I love this tale of dark vs light and the complex characters all intertwined.
This author really managed to take me on a magical journey, one that isn’t stopping anytime soon. I really look forward to reading more of this series asap!

This Christmas novella will fill you with hope and cheer, even to those who are a little grinch during the holiday season. Amber, the local pub owner, and Gio, new to town single father, brought some spiciness and heartwarming moments to this sweet holiday story. Every time I read a book by this author, I know that I will enjoy every word she writes. Gio’s daughter Talia might have stolen my heart a few times. While reading I felt like I was sitting on a cozy couch watching a romantic holiday movie.

I usually do not venture much out of my go to genre but I have for this and I have to say I was not disappointed. I have read other books by this author and so I was not too far out of my comfort zone. I really like how the author is able to wind a dark tale but at the same time grip the readers attention. I find that the author is able to deal with the subject matter. I also find that the author is able to keep a balance as well.
Now I also like that he is able to entwine cultural practices and also weave some mystic and magic into the stories. I find although his writing can be dark it is also able to draw one in and bring the story to life. I will look forward to reading more from this author in the future

What a story this is. This book is so rich in detail and emotionally engaging. All three characters came across so strong. I expected to connect with one more than the other but that really wasn’t the case. The story is so well written. The author really opens your eyes to things you wouldn’t necessarily experience but does do in a way that you don’t feel excluded. I think a lot of this comes from the fact the author can speak from experience. This is a brilliant story that I would highly recommend.

Astrid has been defying the orders of Samuel the light bringer, but when he comes bearing tidings of Isra and what has occurred with regards to her and the darkness within her, Samuel decides that it is time to take matters into his own hands and decides to have a conversation with Isra. This is where he neutralises her dark powers and brings her to his home for hot coffee and polite, if intimate conversation about her past and her future, he also offers advice and insight and offers Isra the chance for salvation instead of damnation, however, Isra politely declines and so he returns her to her wanderings and thinks about what he can do next. When Samuel returns from this conversation he talks to Astrid and sounds out his thoughts on the whole Isra situation and decides to bring in another person to help, James and after he believes Astrid had left, he calls on this other person, to discuss his need for them to carry out a task. Astrid overhears the conversation between them where they are discussing plans to try and keep Isra in the light and how they plan to make it known that there is an abandoned fortress currently awaiting a new tenant and that James will be the one to show Isra around and befriend her.
At the same time, in a dilapidated hovel, Everilda is about to discover a shocking truth that will send her on a darker path she never expected after the demoness Rhiannon pays her a visit and reveals secrets which will send her on another collision course with Isra, which the witch has no idea about. As this complex and mysterious tapestry is woven, with Isra at the centre, will she continue on the path of darkness where Astrid is leading her, or will Samuel and James be able to turn her back to the light in this fantasy land of magic and sorcery?
