This was the first book that I have read by this author, and I was blown away! Twists and turns within this book had me entranced from the first couple of pages. The book revolves around Bella and her husband Miles, and their main concern is with their business and each other. This book had me on pins and needles and had me not wanting to stop reading. The characters were both headstrong throughout the story which allocated for a great story line. The ending was so shocking that I had to reread it a second time. You will not regret reading this story!

Lizbeth Gordon is a woman with two sons, a husband and a family she adores, that is until one day when she recovers the terrible news that her husband has died in a car accident. She is devastated and so are her sons, but as she is trying to come to terms with it and sort out what she needs to organise she receives more news which leaves her reeling. As she explains to her sons what has happened, she makes a drastic decision which leads to leaving everything behind and moving forward with a return to her childhood home, as well as dreams she had once left behind. It was something she never thought she would do, but what she doesn’t expect is that she finds out about a family history she never wanted to consider before.
As she listens to the history of her relatives, she discovers information she never truly considered as no more than tall tales, but it leads her to search for whomever she can find and their stories. This journey takes her through South Carolina and the Civil War where the family lived in Charleston and how they survived it all, as well as the Reconstruction which followed. There are tales of blockade runners who learned about their trade in Scotland and how the Civil War affected the types of trade and transportation and how it lead some of them being stopped from ever returning to their homeland.
Meanwhile, as Lizbeth follows this trail, she receives a request from a Brazilian school who need someone with her skills and accepts the job offer, what she doesn’t expect is that she meets someone with the same surname as her. It is while she is there that she discovers the lost family she never knew she had and that the stories are even more harrowing than the ones she has just learned about. This is a story of historical prejudice, racism and despair where one family is torn apart by institutional bias and harrowing sacrifices and the hope that one woman holds that she can reunite them through love and friendship. It is an emotional ride as you learn about history through the eyes of a fictional family which will lead you to think about the hard questions and what digging into family history may lead to.

This is an enjoyable and engaging novel which had me gripped from start to finish. This historical novel is centred around Lizbeth Gordon, who returns to her childhood home following her husband’s death. Wanting peace and quiet Lizbeth spends her days at her family’s cottage, however when her elderly aunt tells her about some troubling family secrets, she can not help but look into her family’s past. Lizbeth wants to discover the truth behind the rumours, that include, a blockade runner who was hunted as a traitor after the fall of Charleston. Although Lizbeth’s research draws a blank, her interest is renewed when she takes a job at an international school in Rio de Janeiro.
Here she meets a multiethnic descendant of Confederate exiles, who have the Gordon surname, and are able to show Lizbeth some nineteenth-century documents, including letters and a diary. She hopes that her findings will result in a family reconciliation and ultimately healing. This is a wonderfully written novel with a strong, likeable and relatable main character in Lizbeth. The descriptive narrative brought the settings vividly to life making me feel immersed in the story. The historical details added to the sense of the era and show that the novel is well researched. The storyline was intriguing and the exciting plot kept me happily turning the pages, as I could not put this book down.

This book was spectacular. I decided to read it because I have always wanted to write a book but have never had any idea how I could successfully sell it. I tend to have a hard time reading non-fiction books, or how-to books and that was not the case with this book. I appreciate the way the author wrote it, almost like they were standing in front of me sharing this information. It also made it very easy to read because it gave information in a clear and concise manner without being condescending.

This book is extremely informative. The author breaks down what to do (and not do) to help future authors sell their books at cons. She tells what she does to be successful so that the reader can be too. She explains how to everything that needs to be done and how to do it successfully . There’s a lot of information in this little book, do yourself a favor and read it, it gives you all the tools you will need to succeed!

This was a delightful read of a woman who suffered great tragedy and ended up finding herself and so much more. Lizbeth, after losing her husband, moves back home to the south where she embarks on quest to find her long lost relatives; little did she know she would be solving a 100 year old mystery. I found myself wanting more, wondering what the next piece of information Lizbeth would find, and finally cheering with excitement as all comes to together. The way this book was written was wonderful. I loved being transported backs to the 1800s and how they may have done things in Charleston and then back to present day to connect the pieces. I am finding myself wanting to know more about Lizbeth and what her future held as I was truly rooting for her. All in all, a very good read.

A book which strikes the chord in this pandemic times, Apocalypse Thoughts is centered around a girl Kella and how she encounters the pandemic which has taken over the world and save her dear ones. A pandemic has made humans mutate into cannibals, and no one knows what caused this or how fast the mutation spreads. Kella wants to save herself and her brother Huck from the pandemic. Both of them along with her cousin Jumper start hiking on the Appalachian trials armed with a very important information that can change everything. They must hike as fast as they can and stay ahead of the infected people, called the Hyenas. There are tons of things which could go wrong including shortage of food and water. Kella keeps a running log of all the challenges she faces as they escape the Hyenas and try to stay ahead of the race and just live. This is a story of courage and bravery and we all can relate to this in our current Pandemic. The narrative is gripping and can be easily read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Apocalypse Thoughts was a great book, I didn’t want to put it down. It is the 2nd book in the Pox Series, but I didn’t read the first. I was worried I wouldn’t understand what was going on, but that was not the case at all. The author did a great job filling the book with so much vivid detail. Think of it as COVID 19 times combined with every zombie movie out there… but with humor. The book follows a group of teens/early 20s as they navigate through the Appalachian trail during an apocalypse. The book is told from Kella’s point of view and I love the way she describes things. With her on the adventure is her brother and her cousin. Along the way they join up with a couple other people, who leave, but reconnect. The book is fascinating and I love the imagery. I was able to envision what the kids are going through, and the terms they came up with perfectly fit what we are “seeing.” The ending was a total cliff hanger, which was pretty upsetting to me. I kept looking at what I had left, and where the kids were on their journey, and thought it would wrap up nicely. Wrong. There better be another book ASAP!

At first Ethan is just there to help her while he realizes he has a few similar cases. however their relationship soon develops long past what’s appropriate for patient and doctor, and as they delve into discovery of the truth they have to outrun operatives bent on maintaining secrets of mind control, aliens, slavery and so much more together.
this story is well written, hooked me from the prologue and the characters are well developed with the stories dual perspective writing kept you wanting more

It has been a while since I read a book in this series so I was excited to dive back in. The book could be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading it them in order. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I thought they were portrayed really well and it felt like the book were all about them. They had an interesting story that the author did well to develop. I thought the book as a whole was well written and paced well. I connected with the story early on and it kept my interest throughout. This was another great book to add to the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Phew! What an emotional ride this was! This is a wonderful debut book! I really enjoyed how well history was mixed into this story. The talk of all the yummy southern food made me hungry and wanting to make some. The characters, especially Lizabeth were so well written and relatable. I felt like I really got to know her and was on this journey with her to find her family’s history. I would definitely recommend this book, it was excellent!

This is the 5th book in this series. I would recommend reading the first four books before jumping into this one (like I did.) Miles is a music producer. His wife, Bella, works with him. Together they have two beautiful twins. On top of that, Miles has a supernatural ability to control fire. Pharaoh is one of Miles’ artists that Bella handles. Pharaoh is causing all kinds of trouble for the business as well as lusting after Bella. Together Miles and Bella must figure out how to handle Pharaoh. Opinion Overall the book was good. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and to see how the conflict was going to be resolved. I was taken aback at this resolution. It surprised me completely. This book is well worth the read.

“Apocalypse Thoughts” by Kendra Griffin is an engaging book following a group of teenagers in a post-apocalyptic world, on task to deliver valuable CDC data. The main character, Kella, is brave, strong, and very relatable. The sibling relationship in this story had me smiling, reminding me of my own relationship with my little brothers. I loved the character development in this story, as well as all the sarcastic humor. This book is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.

This was the first book I have read by this author, and she has gained a new reader. Although this book could be read as a standalone, I am thinking that I should have read her other books in the series first. I found the characters of Gabe and Katrina very interesting and thoroughly enjoyed the witty banter between them. The book was easy to read and hard to put down. This book was funny, sexy, and engaging. I highly recommend this book to anyone that’s looking for a paranormal romantic comedy.

One thing that sucks me into a story more than anything is the voice of the writing, whether that is through a narrator or the character itself, and the relatability of the characters themselves. In Apocalypse Thoughts, we follow teen, Kella, and her younger brother Huck as they try to make their way up North without dying from starvation, dehydration or a plethora of other things that could go wrong. The sassiness and sarcasm in Kella is so relatable, it’s a breath of fresh air to read a story from a teens perspective and the character actually sounds like a teen. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and now find myself wanting to go back and read the first book in this series! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy dystopian thrillers featuring misfits just trying to survive and finish their quest without being turned feral.

The town holds a bachelor auction and CC’s friends buy her a date with the hot nurse practitioner. CC can see that there is chemistry between them but believes she isn’t good enough for him as she is only a hair dresser and to top if off he is only planning on staying around for 3 years. Brant is hot, single and smart surely he is the complete package except he has a crippling amount of debt and scars from a not so great childhood. Can they both overcome everything they have been through and realise that they can help each other with love and trust. Great read
Mercy grows up with the shadow of fear following her, a fear of the most terrifying kind for the woman in her town of Sueño, New Mexico: La Llorona. More than just a cautionary tale, the legend of La Llorona is all-too-real for the woman of Mercy’s town. Mercy knows she’s on the Weeping Woman’s list and must find a way to be free of the vicious cycle if she wants to survive. As a fan of folktales and the legends of the world, I really enjoyed reading this book. Not only is the story about La Llorona mentioned, but the author goes into a lesser-known part of the legend where her curse befalls other generations of previous victims. You don’t have to know anything about La Llorona to really get into this novel, though the legend of the Weeping Woman is heavily mentioned throughout the book. The author ties in the tale and does a really good job at explaining who and what La Llorona is and how she plays a role in the main character’s life.

This is an amazing book. From page 1, you are sucked into the magic and do not want to get out. The drama, mystery, suspense and adventure just keep you wanting to know what happens next. The story is well-written and flows from one section to the next with no glitches. The details make you feel like you are a fly on the wall participating. I found the characters to feel very three dimensional and totally relatable. They go through so many challenges yet they prove their love is strong. A very good book that I highly recommend.

This is book 2 of the series and I can say WOW!! It just gets better. There is lots of action. Miles is 9 and in Paris with his parents. There is plenty of action, drama and suspense. Again, a fan of the book due to its ability to keep me engaged with the writing and smooth plot transitions. The characters are again fantastic. So real that I feel like I’m there watching close up. I can’t wait to see what’s coming. This is a 5-book series and I’m hankering to get back to reading more about what’s going to happen. I highly recommend you get out there, fork over the money and give this series a shot. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I kinda went out on a limb when I got this book but the blurb had me intrigued. And I’ll be honest it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. This author is new to me but I’ll definitely be looking for more. From page one I was sunk into this emotional and surprising storyline. There’s definitely things I hadn’t expected which I love. Any book that keeps me going and doesn’t spell it all out so easily is a winner in my view. The characters were all so well written and each brings something unique to the storyline. This story pulled at my heart and I know it’ll do the same for you. Four stars and highly recommended!

It’s coming up on the big day. No lack of drama for Miles and Bella. Can they make it through to their big day? Again, I am engaged by the writing. The plot is as smooth as a river. It really is so pleasant to read books that do not have “chunky” plots. The characters are so relatable and feel like they are people we could meet right off the street. Miles and Bella can get through this. They have come so very far to this point. I highly recommend this book.

Oh my goodness! Miles is now an artist on tour and Bella is his marketing consultant. Can they come together and make this tour work? They have their own set of challenges thrown at them and boy, are they a few doozies. The action and suspense is intense. Grabbed by the hand at page 1 and I didn’t want to put it down. A little steam keeps it hot. This author has a style of writing that is rare anymore. I love authors that can suck you into their story and engage you in such a way that you can visualize the story and feel that you are there. Even more is the fact that it feels that way with every book in the series. This is book 3. I highly recommend you read this one.

In order to get Cam back Lydia must retrieve Theodore’s Ring, a priceless heirloom that was once in Cam’s possession. In order to get the ring, Lydia must travel into the Casanu Jungle with the help of her ex, Sullivan. Sullivan agrees to help but only because he is set on winning her back. The twists and turns in this story suck you in and having you waiting to see what happens next. While I really enjoyed the book, I do wish it had been a little longer. There a places in the story were I wish the back story had been a little more developed and that the ending had just a little more, I feel it was a little abrupt. Overall, this was an enjoyable story and worth the read.

I really enjoyed this story. This is my first story by this author and somehow I started with book 6 in the series. Luckily all the books are stand alones and can be read in any order. Katrina and Gabe’s story is super cute, funny, entertaining, and well written.
Katrina is minding her own business, trying to stay under Satan’s radar so she can be free of his hold. Gabe too is trying to free himself from Satan’s hold. Things don’t go as planned when these two meet. Katrina and Gabe clash in wild funny ways! I love their interactions and determination throughout the story.
You definitely want to one click this story. I am headed to get the others stories in this series as well!

This story was a very exciting one. The storyline was energetic and full of mystery and intrigue. It took me a little while to get into the story as I have not read the previous books in the series, but once I got the gist of it, it flowed along pleasantly and cleverly. Full of magical mystery and drama, the characters were on a quest for success but they had a clash of wills and their priorities were not quite in sync with each other. Passion ran soul deep between them, but secrets and danger threatened their happiness.
In the genre of romantic suspense, this was overall a pretty good book. It was well presented, thorough and very engaging, once I understood where their journey was heading. I story I am glad I took the chance on. 4 stars.

Nothing like being thrown right into the water, rather than dipping your toes in. The synopsis of this novel drew my attention but the tension that emanates as soon as you start reading is what captured my focus and had me sitting down for the better part of a day to finish it up. Lydia is clearly a very strong, independent, stubborn woman that will do whatever it takes for the love of her life, Cam, even if it endangers her own life. Enter the ex, Sullivan, who wants nothing more than to convince Lydia she would be better off with him and does not plan on taking no as an answer. Though he is quite pushy, he does seem to be all in to help and protect her as time goes on. There was some lip biting and holding of my breath as the story progressed, goosebumps too!
I had yet to read anything by this author before, but have heard good things from fellow book addicts, and took the leap. I loved the attention to detail, the character development that occurs as the story progresses instead of a full stop to catch the reader up on the goings on, and the adventure/romance aspects that are entwined in this whirlwind of an escape. I for one, will be reading more of her work. If you haven’t read anything by this author yet, I do recommend doing so!

This is the 3rd book in The Thunder On The Moor. I really recommend reading these books in order as without doing that the story would be hard to follow as there as loads of characters and clans and time periods. Saying that if you do read from the first book you will be completed gripped by the story. It has the perfect mix of romance, adventure, danger and history as well an an element of time travel. The author does an amazing job with the historical writing and descriptions which really bring the story to life as well as give an insight into the past history between the Clans in Scotland and England. The time travel element of this story is a unique twist which allows our characters to find love with someone from a different time period to their own which makes the story all the more unique. In this story we learn more about the Clans disagreements and the fights between them, we also learn more about the time travelling and how the way Maggie and Dylan travelled to meet their loves isn’t a way to travel forever. When things get dangerous Maggie returns to her time period to be safe but with the magic she used to travel weakening will she be able to travel back to be with the man she loves?

Shake Loose the Border is the third instalment in the Thunder On The Moor series by Andrea Matthews. As with the previous two books, this is a time travel romance, with fantasy, action, adventure, danger, tension, drama, mystery, suspense, history, and more. If you haven’t read the previous two books, I highly recommend that you do so before starting on this book, as there is a lot of important storyline and relevant information there that will better help you appreciate and understand the storyline, characters, and other interesting details. Just when the future seemed so hopeful and things looked more settled for Will and Maggie, fate throws them another curve ball- and the results could see them separated forever. What happens? Well, you really should read all the intriguing details for yourself. The story continues in the next instalment- so bring on ‘With Fire and Sword’ (Book #4)… Happy Reading!
