Blood & Ravens (The Casket Girls Series Book 1) by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Amy Brennan

Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance (The Casket Girls Book 1)Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was certainly a change of pace from the contemporary romance and mafia focused novels I have been reading as of late. It’s always nice to incorporate the ways of life back before I was even a thought in my Mom’s mind into a mix of love, suspense, and paranormal beings, and by doing so, keeping the reader on their toes and unsure as to what is next to come. The world-building was very well done, in fact, I could just about smell the stank of the Casket girls as they made their way to their destination of New Orleans. The descriptiveness of the girls and how they are worse for wear made me feel for not only Greer, but the rest of the crew, despite their backstories differentiating, and grow fond of the connections that they make with each other and their want to make their lives the best they can be.

Life is full of struggles, which both Greer and Theron are more than familiar with. Though through their own choices and choices thrust upon them, their lives have been full dark clouds, with the occasional glimpse of sunshine, and getting to know them both, I desperately wanted more for them, and whispered encouraging words for their love to blossom. I enjoyed the novel and really want to get back into their world to see how they grow and what becomes of the deal that Greer has made, as the twists and turns haven’t yet come to a full stop! If you are looking for a swirl of different emotions and to have your heartstrings tugged at, then this is your next read!
