Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series) by CJ Warrant – Review by Angela Shirley

Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series Book 1)Deacon by CJ Warrant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Deacon suffered in his life, more than most all he needs to do is escape the town he grew up in. Years later he is brought back to his hometown to bury his best friend but hopefully he does not dig up old memories.

Olivia was broken when Deacon left one night forever wondering if their friendship ever was as solid as she thought, but time has passed, and she moved away and made a life for herself but coming back home will hurt especially if she sees him.

Once they meet up old feelings and insecurities come flooding back but with the pressures, they are both under can they rekindle what they had lost years before.

This is the first book I have read by this author and OMG what a book to start with. The story was well written and fully of emotion in each chapter written. I loved these two main characters and the emotional struggle they have been through with each other and apart and that they are a little jade around the edges but still truly believe they can be there for each other.

The story around the struggles with his mother’s Alzheimer’s is thought provoking and written with dignity and empathy and you are drawn into the decisions he must make. This story is about survival and strength and with the story meandering through with twists and turns, cliff hangers I can not wait to read the next book in this series.
