It’s Caspian’s birthday. Grandpa always leaves him a special gift under his bed. This year’s gift takes him on an adventure that has him trading items until he has what he needs for Miss Susie, the cafeteria lady. What a fun story! I love the progressive steps the story takes as the tale progresses. The story is fun and the items are objects that teach younger children new words. I also love how the story shows that helping others is a wonderful thing. Fun and excited learning! That’s a winner in this Grandma’s eyes. “I want a pencil like that.” (my grandson ((he’s autistic)) review). I would recommend this story for all all children. A fun story for bedtime.

I have been a long time fan favorite of this author, the author always crafts amazing stories and characters that are enjoyable, and are real as they come! This book was no different!

Zenni or Colton were both captivating characters. I found they had their differences, at times I actually was rooting for one or the other for different reasons. I kind of expected myself to take Zenni’s side the whole reading duration, but I found I was torn between the views of both at different times. I found that was a surprise in my reading, but a welcome one. It was not persuading me to be just one sided. Other than that i LOVED their chemistry. It was something that was full of fire works, but held a lot of sweetness to get to those fire works. Really loved the appeal. Wonderful read! Loved it!

Amazing read full of that mind blowing passion we love to read about! Love this author and I do highly recommend them if you have not enjoyed their works yet. This book is a must read, highly recommend!

Shifters, mates and monarchy
This is the first book in the series and it was brilliantly written. A perfect balance of paranormal, romance and action had me turning the pages late into the night that I ended up reading this in one sitting! Dual POV, which I love, had me falling hard for Jason. Lily is an emotional roller coaster but I liked her character too. Can’t wait to see where this series goes – there is still so much more to uncover. Highly recommend.

Beelzebub: The Gift of Gluttony (A Sinful Seven Novel) by JC Brown & Lena Lane – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

Beelzebub The Gift of Gluttony (Sinful Seven, #2)Beelzebub The Gift of Gluttony by J.C. Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a very interesting twist on the demon angel dynamic and I loved it!! Beelzebub (aka Zee) is one of the Seven Princes of Hell. His job is to go around the world and tempt humans with any type of gluttony that he can. He jumps from different hosts, taking possession with permission, and gets the host to experience their hearts desires. He lives through them and experiences it all. It can never be enough to fill his glutenous soul. Once finished he leaves the body broken, weak, and marked for hell. When he comes across a woman who seems to be able to ignore his influence he is intrigued and must try harder to get into her. Clara is an empath and can sense other people’s emotions. She uses her gift of baking to make people feel better. But taking care of others can be draining. She gets weaker with each person that she helps. When Zee appears to her and tells her he is there to help her, she feels a bit off. Thinking he is an angel she starts to trust him only to banish him once she finds out that he is in fact a demon and not the angel she thought. Demons don’t scare away that easy though and unfortunately this demon is attracting other monsters into her life by being around her so much. Fighting to save a soul is not something that he does. He wants to erase them all from the earth! But she is different and he can’t help but be drawn to her. Will his meddling cause more problems then it’s worth? Will this demon protect her soul? Or will he mark it for hell. Will Clara forgive Zee for messing with her life? Or will she die because of it!?! You won’t be disappointed in this book once you pick it up. So hard to put down even!! Enjoy!

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla, #1)The Hunted by S.B. Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first book by this author. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. The way the characters are written allows the reader to easily visualize them and the hot vampire is exactly that, HOT!! They character development in this story is really good but it was the twists and turns (suspense and action) that really made me sink my teeth into it. This book has everything from romance, steam, to suspense. I highly recommend this book because it left me wanting more. I couldn’t stop reading it. The pages blurred together and when the ending happened, I wasn’t prepared or ready for it to be over. Can she stop hunting him and love him? That question is what had me through the whole book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first time reading a book of this particular genre, and all I can say is wow!! It is absolutely thrilling; I couldn’t put it down!
Abbey always knew something was different about her, not that she was particularly happy about that, but she can’t exactly change it. However, it proves to be a particularly useful gift when she has to use her gift, as well as having to discover her own inner strength, to figure out why students at her new school keep going missing. This book is full of mystery, and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat! This book is an amazingly fast paced and thrilling with surprised when you’d least expect them, yet the plot flows perfectly!! If you like young adult teenage angst, plenty of drama, clowns, and even ghosts, this is perfect for you! Allen Evan’s created a wonderful experience when writing this book, and I’m so glad I stepped out of my normal comfort zone to try it! Though it is the second book of the ghost girl series I was able to read it and not feel like I was missing any information I needed despite having not read the first book featuring out fourteen-year-old heroine.

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack Book 1) by Nicole Howl – Review by Shea Gilkerson

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack, #1)Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My first read by this author, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As with most werewolf romance stories, there are several common themes – werewolves are primal and violent, there are fated mates and the goddess, and there’s evil men and valiant men. There are a few seductive moments, suspense, shape shifting and violence. It was interesting enough that I’ll continue to read the series to see what becomes of Lily and Jason.

Lily is a human servant of the Wolf Hollow pack. She has a grueling schedule for terrible masters. The king and alpha is a cruel man who enjoys making others fear him. Everyone in his presence strictly keeps their eyes away to avoid challenging him. Lily has a miserable life as a servant to the wolf pack, but has made a couple of friends that look out for her. When she is cornered and attacked in her bedroom by an abusive soldier, she is rushed to the royal families medical facility. It is here she really meets Prince Jason, the future alpha. As a human, she expects and anticipates the prince to mistreat her and is determined to stay out of his way…but Jason has caught her scent and realizes she is his mate. He is drawn to her, uncaring of the status difference between them. Once he learns who Lily’s attacker is, he challenges Callum.

This story is pretty fast paced and kept me interested enough to keep reading. It is a shorter book and the interest made for an especially quick read. It seems as though it could be a bit more polished, but was enjoyable and has you cheering for Lily and Jason and liking Dean and Amara.

Olivia turns Deacon’s head and turns his life upside down again.

Are they destined for happily ever after or fated to break each other apart?

Well that was a rollercoaster of a book! Full of action, cliff hangers and a few tear jerker moments. This was a fantastic first book in the series and I will be continuing in the series.

Trigger warnings for physical and sexual assault.

Amazing story 5 out of 5 stars for me. The JC Brown and L Lane had me on my toes when it came to Clara and Zee a.k.a Beelzebub. See Clara did not know who Zee was until the truth came out and lead her to seek refuge with God, but Zee got too deep with Clara and had to fight off so many demons and angels so she can be his. In the end, I thought for a fact that Lucifer was going to have Clara and have it his way since Zee was going to disobey him. Now there is one character that I was not so much fond of was Max, he kept on pushing Clara into a relationship but she was not ready. Like she said, ” I’m just not looking for a relationship.”

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack, #1)Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl is a fast-paced and incredibly enjoyable paranormal romance story. Lily and Jason are fated mates. However, he is the prince and alpha to be and she is the kidnapped and enslaved servant to the royal family. The book is adventurous with well-written characters. I really enjoyed Lily, Jason, and Dean’s interactions. Seeing all that Lily had to go through and her inner dialogue broke my heart. The plot is great and while I enjoyed the pace, I do wish it’d been slowed down a bit for more plot development. Some things just didn’t make sense to happen that quickly, like Lily’s strength development. This book is a fast, enjoyable read. I was so engrossed that I was surprised when the end came. I eagerly await the sequel.

Everwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire RomanceEverwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire Romance by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a quick and entertaining romance. It can be done in a weekend. Zenni is in Everwood County, Georgia to check on her grandparent’s house. A hurricane had come through the area and wiped out the Easterly neighborhood. She stops to check out the Everwood County Plantation, a piece of her family history. Her grandmother told her that her ancestors were kept there (slavery). Colton is a hot billionaire from the area. Local bastard raised by his father, he’s keeping a dark secret that he doesn’t tell anyone. He falls for Zenni and all bets are off. These two have a few challenges to work through. They also have the complication of falling madly in love. Can they work through the plantation issue? He wants to tear it down; she wants to save it. This was a witty book. The flirting will crack you up. It did remind me a little of Pretty Woman. Coltan is like a teenager in an adult man’s body. He’s had a rough past and just needs to let those walls down. We can relate to that. He has a human side, even being a billionaire. Sandy is my absolute favorite. She did her best to get these two together. Momma Lovebird. Zenni, she was just selfish. I had a hard time relating to her. It could be because I’m as stubborn as her. The characters were well-written and they did make for a fun story. The plot felt a little out of place in spots because it really felt like the plantation wasn’t really involved too much in the story. It was more an accessory than the main focus. There is also a little spice to add some kick. Overall, I recommend the story for all romance lovers. It’s funny, quick and enjoyable.

Filled with a unique storyline this book is a page turner. Beelzebub is a flirty, mischievous and sexy demon who is confident with what he wants and what he does. Wow! Great story, this one had my emotions all over the place. At multiple different times I was either mad at Zenni or Colton. Colton is a real tool in the beginning and I can’t see how Zenni can stand talking to him for more than 5 minutes. Colton wants to tear down the plantation and Zenni wants to keep it up. I was back and forth between both sides fighting along with them. Their romance was steamy and sweet and it was a nice short read that really reminded me of our terrible past. I love that Zenni was so protective of her family’s history and wish more people were like that now days. I love this author and her take on BWWM romance and look forward to reading more!

I enjoyed the growth of the plot throughout that made the story easy to read. Zenni and Colton have such great chemistry throughout as well as great growth. Luc and Summer are pure electricity! This was such a great Mafia romance and it was so great finally getting to meet Luc and seeing how he reacts to being the heir to the Brambilla arm of the Five Families. If you haven’t read the previous books in this series you definitely need to because not only are they all amazing but they give great background on the other men and their wives. Summer is so tough but also vulnerable and something about her speaks to Luc from the moment he lays eyes on her. Things quickly spin out of control after a hot night together when Summer won’t reveal who and what she’s running from. Everything starts to fall into place the more time they spend together but there are some really terrifying twists and turns the closer they get. The ending is so beautiful, this is one action packed Mafia romance that you won’t want to miss!

I really enjoyed this children’s book. I loved the diversity of the characters and I loved the idea of the unbirthday gift. As a parent, we always celebrate my son’s half-birthday! I am a teacher and could really see how useful this book could be in the classroom to show students how you can start with a simple, common object and use it to create a whole story around. This story would be great to use with children 3-6 as a fun read-aloud or for slightly older children if teaching a creative writing lesson.

Until There Was You by G Colegrove
5 out of 5 Stars

While this was my first read from G Colegrove, it certainly will not be my last. This book captivates the audience from the first chapter and leaves you wanting more. I would give this book 100 stars if I could! Phenomenal story—one of the best that I have read lately. I could not put it down!

The characters emitted a noticeable chemistry from their very first encounter, which continued to sizzle with sexual energy and romance throughout.
Regan is from the wrong side of the tracks, fresh out of school, working at her friend’s diner, contemplating what to do with her life. Growing up with an addicted mother and a criminal brother, she did not have the best family life. Coming from a very shattered home life, Regan was used to taking care of herself and was a pro at keeping people at a distance.
Jeremy was a drop dead gorgeous, rich boy, from LA, who was used to having everything that he desired. While this has been the lifestyle he had been accustomed to his entire life, he hates all the fake people associated with it, especially woman who only want him for his good looks and bank account. He is tired of being under his father’s thumb and is anxious to make a name for himself.

From the time their paths crossed at the diner, neither could get the other out of their minds. Although intrigued with Jeremy’s good looks, the last thing that Regan wanted to do was get involved with a snobby, rich brat who had everything handed to him on a silver platter. Jeremy could not get the beautiful waitress from the diner out of his mind. Jeremy was no stranger to beautiful woman—they throw themselves at him regularly, however there was a realness to Regan that added to her physical beauty; a combination that Jeremy just could not get out of his mind. Jeremy, confident and use to going after what he wants, remains diligent in pursuing Regan, until she succumbs to his charm and wit, and the sexual tension that neither can deny.

A roller coaster of emotions, sexually explicit, and full of love and laughter, Until There Was You, I that makes a story that leaves your heart full and believing that happily ever after might just be possible after all.
