The Scent of Gardenias by Lorraine Haas details a poignant story of struggle, hardship, overwhelming odds, grit, and determination which was inspired by the life of the author’s mother. Ms. Haas did a great job of detailing all the historical aspects and bringing the 1940’s to life. I really felt for Margaret and everything she endured, but also admired her determination and resilience.
This story was emotional, thought-provoking, and full of strength of spirit, hard work, resilience, perseverance, challenges, heartache, difficulties, obstacles, and plenty of heart & soul. It is beautifully written and is quite a poignant and emotional read!
Recommended for anyone who loves historical women’s fiction.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Lorraine Haas!
