The Scent of Gardenias by Lorraine Haas – Review by Stephanie Robb

The Scent of GardeniasThe Scent of Gardenias by Lorraine Haas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lorraine Haas brings us a small town 1940s America historical women’s fiction story about Margaret Rose controlled by her father in every aspect of life from what she will wear to who she shall marry. Margaret wants to break free from her father’s house which she sees as the cage holding her in. Margaret makes a plan to escape from the life holding her back and to finally live out her dreams. Margaret is courageous and tenacious although sometimes naive and she did make choices I did not understand or approve of. This was a well written story of survival for those left in the USA during World War II and what they did to survive.
