Love’s What You Bake of It (The Meraki Series Book 1) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Shelly Kittell
Love is What You Bake of it by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The story of Kally and Max is one that just kind of warms your heart. It’s full of humor, romance, sweetness and drama. Kally would love to just have a true love romance with a guy that is truly single and the love is real. Right now, that’s only in print romances. Kally learns that not everything is as it seems. She has some emotional/relationship baggage to deal with. She learns through all this and learning about her mom and grandmother’s marriage that sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith. The characters are so loveable in this story, even George, the grumpy dad. They kind of remind me of the family in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I half expected George to offer Windex for minor ailments. Grandma is adorable and probably my favorite. Such sweetness that I felt cavities forming (I loved it in this story, it fit). The plot was perfect. I loved seeing Kally trying to figure out where her grandfather is. I hope we’ll see more of that in the other two books in the series. A fun, quick read that can make your weekend enjoyable. I would give it more than a 5 if I could.
