Twilight’s Spy (Twilight Realm Trilogy Book 1.5) by K.M. Wray – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Twilight's SpyTwilight’s Spy by K.M. Wray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book certainly brought on its own level of intrigue and wonder! The author wrote a wonderful story, with a very good visual aspect as well. I loved reading of the Realm and its inhabitants of the creature that resided there. The story had its own magic, and great character depth and development as well!

What I loved most was the flow of the story. It was at a good pace where you got to know the characters that you met and came across. Yarissa was a wonderful character. Her sense of determination was very admirable, but when she goes on the quest that is assigned to her, though it was against her preference, she grows so much, and finds things deep from within her. I found that remarkable and realistic at the same time. I really valued the author put that character growth such as that in there. I was hooked all the way through, the book certainly kept me interested. I need the next book right now, as per how it ended, I must seriously learn rather quick how things turned out! The writing was magical! Loved this book!

Truly a wonderful book, that is full of magic and adventure. I highly am recommending this book to be read with no doubt at all! The author is very highly recommended as well. Both are a must read!

Someone Exactly Like Me (Wounded Hearts Series Book 1) by Debbie Cromack – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Someone Exactly Like Me (Wounded Hearts, #1)Someone Exactly Like Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was simply one of the best romance stories I have read in my entire life! The story was sweet, but very realistic, and a good build up. The story brought on emotions, ones that my heart held dear as well. The characters really brought the story to life! I was hooked and getting to the end, was bitter sweet.

Loved the writing that the author possessed and how they made the story come to life. Feelings and all! The author really put forth obstacles any couple may face, especially in this case with a celebrity’s story. The characters had that undeniable attraction and chemistry, but also needed to find the ground they stand on that would have room for them both. Destiny and Nicco were great. Undeniably great. I loved their scenes together and as they grew as characters, and they grew into the strong bond in which they held and were. Amazing and wonderful read! Loved it so very much! Could not put it down! So good!

I loved this story, and reading it was a delicate and happy read at the same time. I could not get enough of this book or put it down. I constantly wanted more. I got so much out of this wonderful author’s story. I can’t wait to read more by them Highly recommend this must read book! Do not pass it up! Seriously!

Sydney thought she was going away for a week vacation but she walked into a sick revenge game. Kage , part of a trio of brothers out for revenge, fell for Sydney. This dark romance is full of intense twists, turns and lots of unknown adventures. The steam is there as well. I found the story exciting and found myself wanting to find out what was coming up next. The twists are what kept me going. The characters were fairly well-developed. Spoiled rich kids with secrets were due to get their come-uppance. You found yourself rooting for the ones you didn’t expect to. The book has an air of suspense and that’s what I loved about it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To be honest I didn’t know what to expect when I began reading this. This book has a target demographic of young teen but let me tell you it is such a cute quick read that I, a grown woman, loved. It has the typical teen drama like gossip, not liking the younger students, and the normal growing pains. This book has an amazing storyline and great characters that everyone can relate to, whether that is a teen or an adult reliving their childhood. The whitty ghost really makes this a page turner. I wanted to know what would happen next. There are great life lessons in this book that I wasn’t expecting. I would highly recommend this book to any one. I would especially recommend it to any teen that is starting to have a love for reading. They will relate to it and feel accomplished since it is an easy read. If they pick up on the life lessons in the book that is just an added benefit.

5 stars!

I don’t even know where to start with this book. I absolutely, 100% cried like a baby. Reading of precious Kingsley’s story made me remember and relive the moment leading up to putting my sweet dog down and the moments before her passing. I felt the author’s pain throughout this heartbreaking journey, wondering if you were doing the right thing for your dog, wondering whether they are in pain, how you can help, you go through so many different emotions. Dogs are the most amazing animals, and I hear it said over and over again how we as human don’t deserve animals and it is so true, animals are so pure and beautiful and have so much love to give. I just know Kingsley brought this family so much love and joy throughout his 9 years of life and I am happy to read that he had a beautiful home while he was here on earth. I definitely recommend this book to anyone struggling with the loss of an animal or anyone going through an animal with cancer. Thank you for your story.

Twilight's SpyTwilight’s Spy by K.M. Wray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked the first book in this series and was excited to see a new book come out! This book was written to bridge the gap between the first and second book and give us insight and the backstory for a character in the second book. The main character is smart and stubborn and really easy to like. Yarissa has just finished her training and can’t wait to become part of the Elites, but first she is sent as a spy into the Night Realm. She doesn’t want to be a spy and really just wants to help keep her people safe, but she learns a lot about herself, the fighters, and her training during the mission. She makes friends and tries to fit in while in the Night Realm, which is hard with her blond hair and sun kissed darker skin. The description of the realms is detailed and I am so excited for the next book in the series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was not at all disappointed. This book is book four of a series by a collaboration of authors.

Sol is being forced to retire and it’s going to ruin his life if he keeps going down this self destructive path of “coping”. Ember is a newly minted firefighter, which is everything she’s wanted. The only problem is she also wants Sol but her job might drive a wedge between them. Will Ember and Sol’s friendship grow into more or will Sol let her job tear them apart.

I am glad I picked this book up. I really enjoyed it! There’s a bit of angst and lot of emotions and chemistry! I definitely recommend!

I love how each book in this series can be read as a standalone. The characters roll over from each book (more so in the first two books) but you dont need to follow along. This book along with the others have their own individual story to tell. Seth Pierce is the gamer of the brothers an loves to have fun! Well he meets his match when he meets Victoria in a fake interview an tries to find out who she really is. Shes confident, bossy an knows what she wants but can he persuade her into wanting him? Belinda once again stole my interest an I cant wait to see what else she comes out with next!

The Vilification of Aqua Marine (Working Mask, #1)The Vilification of Aqua Marine by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an enjoyable read. This book is definately aimed at a younger audience but was still enjoyable.I loved the idea of superheros and the fight that Rhiannon aka Aqua Maine goes through. The author does an amazing job with the characters especially Rhiannon and her mother. Both characters are so different but they are so alike in many ways

Rhiannon had super parents. Her mother is an evil villain and her father is a super hero. She wants to follow in her father’s footsteps and not be a villain like her mum, however she struggles to get a break as a hero and the pressure from her mother to become a villain is very strong.
When she sees an opportunity to make a name for herself as an hero but defeating a villain called Overlord of the Dance. Things don’t go as straightforward as she planed. With confusion, drama, twists and turns we now start an new adventure with Aqua Marine and when the Overlord of the Dance approaches her about becoming his enemy will she take it and become the hero she wants to be or will she succumb to the pressure of her mum and join the villains?

This is a great fun read that transports the read to a world of superhero and villains.

This book is by a new author to me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I loved the cover artwork as it appeared to look like a superhero caper and that screamed must read to me. I am so glad that I did. I wasn’t disappointed in this story at all. It’s geared more for the young adult reader, but as an avid comic book reader I found this book to be perfect for comic book fans. In fact, I have already spread the word to many of my comic junkies that they need to read this story. There is so many funny hijinks in this book I was laughing until I cried. It’s also filled with action and drama along the way, but my family thought I was crazy because I was laughing out loud so much. I highly recommend that you and your teens pick this wonderful book up. It’s perfect. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next caper ahead.

Distant Memories by Kate MacInnis is the second book in the Nurse Morgan series. Just like the first book, Distant Memories is filled with humor, ghosts, mystery, and a bit of romance. This text gives a good deal of summary about the first book so you can keep track of what is going on.

It seems things have started to settle down with Morgan as she has accepted her new psychic gifts. A new ghostly seductress enters the picture with her sights set on Caleb, Morgan’s new man. The plot brings to life some mischief with new adventures that cause some craziness in the spirit world as well as in real life for Morgan. I look forward to book 3 when it comes out!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Romance, mystery, ghosts, humor and fun are back in the second installment of A Nurse Morgan Series. Distant Memories by Kate MacInnis packs quite the paranormal punch all over again. If you loved the first one, buckle up for another fun ride.

The story continues about Morgan, an emergency center nurse in the metro Detroit area. With 20 plus years experience, the new ability to see and speak to ghosts, and a special love brewing with the gorgeous and sweet new doctor, Morgan never thought life could get even crazier and interesting. Guess what?….she was wrong!

Morgan has to battle with her growing feelings for Dr. Caleb while battling her own fears of being hurt. If that isn’t enough, she is now facing the villanous Esmey, a sexy female ghost who not causes trouble but can’t keep her ghostly hands off of men…even Caleb.

The fun loving characters, wit, humor and paranormal romance that drew you in the first time is all back. I really enjoyed the way Morgan is honest with struggling with the newness of her life since the near death experience and how change isn’t as easy as we all want it to be.

If you loved the first story, you will be pulled right back into this light hearted story

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13 Book 4) by Danielle Jacks – Review by Barbie England

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13, #4)Burned by Fire by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Danielle Jacks brought the thought processes of the two main characters in her novel to life wonderfully. Solomon (Sol) summed up his point of view after an injury left him unable to continue as a firefighter by saying, “Being a hero means nothing without the firehouse.” His former mentee, Ember, has an infatuation with Sol. She tells him, “You’re not my hero because you’ve saved lives. You’re my hero because you inspire me to be better.” The story begins with Sol seeing a therapist, who turns out to be Ember’s aunt, to help him deal with issues that have caused him to drink alcohol frequently. It follows the relationship between Sol and Ember, with alternating perspectives from these two main characters. Burned by Fire: Book 4 has the perfect amount of angst, character development, and even a few spicy scenes!

I give this book 5 stars!

Reading this book will truly make you appreciate the marvelous modern luxuries we currently have in comparison to the time frame described in this book (gold rush).

Alyssa is the main character and truly Carrie’s the story from start to finish. She agreed to participate in the act of traveling to a different country to become a bride to someone she doesn’t know, but planned on leaving right away. As always, life has a different plan in store for her, so leaving is not an option.

A sudden and unexplained loss immediately starts the mysterious who-done-it response and from there the story builds into a magnificent piece of art.

The author did a phenomenal job creating a beautiful historic tale with the endearing characters. You will be hooked from the first page. I hope you all will give this book a fresh read so you can partake in Alyssa’s journey.

Second couple is a divorced couple who still love each other very much and the matchmaker bookstore owner does what she can to meddle and get them back together again.
The third part in this book is the Book store owners own happily ever after.

There are a few triggers in this story, to list them actually spoils the story so just know this book is not for the faint of heart.

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)Truth or Kill by A.C. Kramer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I cannot resist a good dark romance, and this was one that everything rolled all into one. Suspense, murder, lust , and lots of drama.
One invite changes it all for Sydney during her Spring Break. What started as a game turns out to be just as it states.. “Truth or Kill.” Sydney is alluring, confident, and intelligent. She was very blunt and honest and she was no fool at all during this book. When she meets Kage at the resort its instant that they have a connection. As a team up they begin to play the dangerous game knowing to play is to survive. The more they fight for survival the more they fall for each other in the process. While Sydney may be that wide eyed girl its clear that Kage is as anti-hero as they come. This story was a wild ride that will have you on edge until the end.

After spending 25+ years in corporate America, being the CEO of an event decorating company, and then an online business coach, she tried her hand at writing romance novels, publishing her debut novel at the age of 50, and has been writing ever since.

Fun facts: 1) She lived in Taiwan for ten years, 2) Her undergraduate degree is in psychology/sociology/anthropology with a minor in corporate communications and her MBA is in marketing…NONE of which help her in her author career, and 3) You’ll almost never hear her say the word, “hate” or the phrase, “It’s hard.”

When life has you down or feeling frantic, she challenges you to ask yourself, “Is this serving me?” And if the answer is, “No,” do your best to set it free and let it go.

She’s an Amazon international bestselling author and has been featured in Forbes.

The Personal Side of Debbie:

She has a bunny named Nutmeg, who’s quite the little snuggler. She also has two Nigerian dwarf goats, Patches and Tiny Tim, and many chickens.
