Oh my, this is a beautiful love story! Josh & Mavis fell in love as teens. A bad decision brought about a chain reaction that affected their lives. This story is written so well that you feel all the emotions as you read. You feel the pain, anger, love, and joy. The characters are very relatable. We have all made mistakes in relationships. To read about Josh & Mavis’s relationship challenges shows a bit of a redemption that helps show love can be great even in second chances. They show love is worth the fight. Tess, however, is a character that I just wasn’t fond of. What a great job writing an antagonist that annoys so well. It’s a terrific debut novel. I hope we’ll see more from this author.

Azreya, Aztec Priestess: An Illustrated Mythology Legend by Tricia Copeland, Illustrated by Matt Maes – Review by Shelly Kittell

Azreya, Aztec PriestessAzreya, Aztec Priestess by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found this story to be very interesting and quite intriguing. Azreya is a mythological story of a priestess who grows up to watch over her people. She leads an amazing life and has many challenges. The facts included by the author help to understand the story. It feels like South American folklore/mythology. The writing keeps you wanting more because you find yourself waning to know what’s going to happen next as Azreya undergoes tests. The illustrations fit well into the story. This author is one of my favorites as she tries many new things. I hope she does more this way. I will be using this book as reading with my kiddo’s schooling as he gets older. Well done, loved it!

Scandalously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 5) by Anise Storm

Scandalously Yours is the fifth book in the Titans of Manhattan Series and I absolutely loved reading it. This is a Contemporary Romance/second chance romance that will leave you wanting more. I’m a huge fan of not only this author but this series is my favorite and this latest tops the list for me. If you haven’t already started this series I highly recommend reading this from the beginning. You get the back story of all these hot and sexy men, the women who capture their hearts and its just a wonderful series. This one I’ve been patiently waiting for and man oh man it didn’t disappoint. This is Kris and Ale’s story. These two both have a couple of things in common, their focus is on family and careers. Kristopher thinks he has it all until it all comes tumbling down and he finds himself in the midst of a nasty divorce. Aleesia has just finished her Residency and is going to be working at a local hospitals ER. These two paths cross at a Retreat in the Bahamas where he meets the newest physician for his hospital. Holy cow the chemistry between these two is out of this world. After one night of sizzling passion he wants more ,but reality has a different idea. Things get a bit messy and there’s a couple twists that had me turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m a bit sad this series is done but I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Jo Frizzell

Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale, #1)Ashes by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a truly captivating read! I really enjoyed this take on Cinderella. Reading different interpretations of fairy tales is always fun, seeing how the author decides to change it up or make it more modern. From the prologue to the epilogue, Ashley’s story is one that we’ve read or seen more than once, in various retellings of Cinderella, but it is by no means the exact same. The bones of the story were recognizable, but the rest of the body of the story was truly unique and beautiful. Ashley and Harry’s relationship was tested for sure, but isn’t everyone’s? If you enjoy reading modern fairy tales, this is definitely a must read!

The intrigue of this book kept me reading straight through, I didn’t want to put it down until I found out how it ended! The author masterfully weaves emotions and situational complexity with the characters.
Mavis is a woman who fell in love as a teen and suddenly disappeared without a trace. The book takes us on a journey, and ultimately, she must choose between brothers. I would be lying if I said it was easy to choose who to root for!
I loved the writing style and story told from character points of view, and it all blended together seamlessly. Would definitely recommend.

Everyone loves a good mystery, and this book is one of those. I am coming in late but excited about playing catch-up. Logan was an exciting and delightful character. Finding a calling by volunteering at the bird sanctuary she appears to be acclimating to her new life, and marriage. When she stumbled upon a murder, she becomes her own detective and starts a hunt for the killer. The further she investigates is when things pick up as she herself becomes a target. There is drama, danger, humor, and an all-around lovable story.

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Scars (The Crown of Stones Book 2) by C.L. Schneider – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Magic-Scars (The Crown of Stones, #2)Magic-Scars by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book two and honestly, I couldn’t have enjoyed it anymore then the first one. It starts off right away with not even remembering what was going on. And when troy finally starts to remember, he try’s very hard to put it all together. The author wrote this incredible book of kings, fighters, magic, betrayal, war, evil, and so much more that I could not put it down and just had to read to know what was going to happen to our wonderful characters. Magic users in this book use to be the ones that ruled, but people got scared and so they feared the Shinree and tried to do anything to control them, including drugging them. This book kept me reading and, on my seat, the whole time. But so did the first book in this amazing trilogy. Can’t wait to read book three to know what will happen. Great book, recommend.

In Plain Sight (Logan McKenna Mystery Series Book 8) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Darla Yocom

In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Logan McKenna is a badass character that everyone will fall in love with within the first few chapters. She’s married to her soulmate, Ben who seems to be her perfect match. If you’ve read any of the previous books in this series, you’ll recognize this book continues with their story. As per usual, suspense and mystery seems to follow them everywhere.

As a fan of crime mysteries, I felt this book was an impeccable addition to this genre. I also enjoyed the details regarding the beautiful winged friends described within the storyline.

I felt as if this story had a perfect amount of plot twists that will keep the reader intrigued and second guessing themselves when trying to figure out what comes next. This is anything but predictable.

The author did a fantastic job and fans of this series will be overjoyed with the new addition. For those new to this series, I think they will enjoy this book and want to grab another from the series or start at the very beginning.

This book had great imagery, a beautifully designed plot and fantastic characters.

Scandalously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 5) by Anise Storm – Review by Allison Davis

Scandalously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #5)Scandalously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book can be read as a stand-alone in the Titans of Manhattan series. This was also the first book I read in this series.

Kris is going though a nasty divorce process, the only thing he is worrying about is his career and his kids. He meets Alessia at a medical conference. They are completely smitten for each other from the start.

The story follows Kris dealing with his current legal separation, which is finding to be much more of a problem that anticipates since his ex is causing such a major problem. All the while Alessia is dealing with wanting to be with Kris but having to hide their relationship because his life so public.

There are many things I enjoyed about this book but the fact that Kris and Alessia were having a secret relationship while he was still going through a divorce really bothered me. Defiantly not the trope for me.

Trigger warnings: verbal abuse, divorce, threats of violence, suicide(past and present).

Fairly Royal (The Fair Series Book 4) by Grace Grahme – Review by Katrina Evanochko

Fairly Royal (Fair, #4)Fairly Royal by Grace Grahme
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book combines a few tropes into one great story. It is a best-friend’s-sister, fake relationship, and royal romance all rolled into one. Philip is the Earl of Arburne, and while he does not want a real relationship, giving the tabloids a romance to talk about could help take some pressure off him to find someone. His best-friend’s little sister, Anna, agrees to help him out, with a few rules in place.

Anna is confident, but has a hint of vulnerability that helps her feel real. Philip is a bit stuffy as a royal. Watching each of them learn to interact and move through the other’s typical territory is amusing and adds more to their dynamic. This truly is a fun modern fairy tale.

Ashes (Modern-Day Fairy Tale, #1)Ashes by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a nice easy read for me as I get ready for the upcoming school year! I love the modern-day retelling of fairy tales and this did not disappoint me in the slightest! This book reminds me a lot of the Cinderella Story movies from my childhood, particularly the first one with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray.

I love the character of Ashley, I particularly admire how strong she stays despite all of the issues she faces in her life. The character of Harry was different from other ‘Prince Charming’ characters I have read in the past, dealing with plenty of his own issues and I loved reading the chapters in his point of view.

I also love how the side characters and villains were written, each character given a good amount of detail into their lives. I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with in the next book in the series!

Peg’s Stand (Satan’s Devils MC #6) Audio Book by Manda Mellett – Review by Shelly Kittell

5 out of 5 stars
Oh my goodness~! I loved everything about this book as an audio. First, let me start with narration. Sierra Kline and Logan McAllister are the perfect pair for this author’s books. They make the chemistry of the story explosive. The tone of the story is sexy and smoldering. The author’s writing is always a treat. Yes, this is an MC but the story also has a good vs evil edge to it. I am a huge fan of the author and the MC because its a bike group trying to go right. I love the fact that its growing into a family group. In this story, Peg felt so real, he just wanted what everyone else had. He was very considerate and a gentleman for Darcy’s feelings. He also was there to protect her. Darcy is kickass even through all the challenges she had to go through. She struggled with a lot and still came out a survivor. Terrific story. Another winner for this author. I can’t wait for the next.

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Scars (The Crown of Stones Book 2) by C.L. Schneider – Review by Desiree Ottinger

Magic-Scars (The Crown of Stones #2)Magic-Scars by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ian Troy has been captured, tortured, and drugged. The king and his father are at the center of him forgetting who he is and what all he has done. After he’s rescued and presumed dead by the latter, he slowly comes back to himself and what he finds isn’t to his liking. He has to come to terms with the things that he has done and also what has been done to him in order to find the power within himself to thwart the king and his father’s evil plans. Can he find his friends and keep them safe before they can be used against him? Can he find out how to harness the power of the crown of stones before his father?

This is a pretty intense book. Ian does some really awful things. Granted, some of them are not completely his fault, but he still has to pay the price of them. I feel like the author did a good job of walking him through coming to terms with who he is and what he’s done. He had to make some hard choices and pay for them. In a world where everyone seems to be out for themselves, Ian Troy seems to always be thinking of others more than himself. Thankfully, he has loyal friends that stick with him through the horror and violence.

Just so other readers know, there are several scenes that are explicit.

The author does not disappoint once again in book 4 of the Notebook Mysteries series! These stories are incredible as you continue to discover more about Emma, the main character. Emma goes through so many suspenseful and challenging issues that very quickly you are in shock with each turn of events. The historical nature of this story, in addition to the imagery in the author’s writing makes you feel as if you are right there in the 1880’s experiencing the cultural and even climate changes. Emma develops her love interest all the more in this book in the series, so it is not only packed with lots of twists and turns, but it gives the romantic side as well! I could easily see this in a movie. I am looking forward to the next book in the series next month and I can’t wait!!!!

Peg’s Stand (Satan’s Devils MC #6) Audio Book by Manda Mellett – Review by Kerry Baker

This series is easily one of my favourite and the audio books are some of the best I have listened to. I become so emerged in what is happening and find myself completely lost by the story. This one is no exception at all and I loved the entire book. I kept finding reasons to turn it back on again and in no time had finished it.

This author is absolutely fantastic. She has created a series so strong, with a lasting effect, and yet has still managed to retain each individual book’s identity. The characters come across so strong and you can’t help but fall in love with them. This is a fantastic book and I would urge everyone to try it today!

Misfortune of Vision (The Druid’s Brooch Series #4) by Christy Nicholas – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Misfortune of Vision (Druid's Brooch #4)Misfortune of Vision by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Misfortune of Vision is the fourth book in Christy Nicholas’ Druid’s Brooch series. The series follows a brooch as it is passed through the generations, giving powers to whoever is in possession of it. Each book is set at a different point in history, mainly in Ireland.
At the time when Misfortune of Vision is sent, Christianity has become the main religion in Ireland. Orlagh, whose visions and medical knowledge have been helping her community for decades, is being treated with suspicion by a church that is desperate to assert its dominance.
It’s nice having a protagonist who is quite old. Orlagh knows her time is running out and wants to ensure that she passes her knowledge and the brooch on to someone suitable. We see her struggling with tasks, relying on others for help, and being drained by the work that she must do. We also see her thinking about how her body is changing as she ages and mourning the friends and family who she has outlived.
I also like that Declan, another major character, is a musician. His knowledge of songs from a variety of traditions adds some extra interest to the book!
For me, this is another five-star book. Nicholas paints a vivid picture of the times and places in which her books are set, and yet again I feel like I’ve been transported back in time. It’s so informative and well researched, with an exciting fantasy side that fits in to the setting. I would definitely recommend it to fans of historical fantasy, especially if you’re interested in Celtic history and traditions!

Deborah Garland has really done an amazing job with this story. It has elements that appeal to all readers. Hard Lover is the perfect mix of suspense and spice and steam. This book is book two in a series, but it definitely functions as a standalone. I never read the first book and it was not hard to follow along and I didn’t feel like I was missing any important background information. Thief (Popov Bratva #4)Thief by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Romantic Suspense is probably my favourite trope to read and this is a great example of a thrilling romantic suspense novel. This author was new to me but I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to try a new author. I can certainly say that I will now be reading more of this author’s work. In particular, I want to read the other books in this series.
This is the 4th book in the Mafia romantic suspense series but each book can be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel that I was missing any necessary information to enjoy this book but I’m now intrigued by the other couples who appear in this book and want to find out their stories.
In this book we get the story of Dominik Popov, car thief for the Bratva. He’s never had any issues when stealing a car until he tries to steal the beloved Audi R8 of country music sensation Leah Hart. Has he finally met his match?
I loved both Dominik and Leah as characters. It’s very much an opposites-attract story as well as a romantic suspense. The story is action packed from the very beginning and the author does a great job of keeping you gripped and entertained right up to the end. It’s very much a page-turner.
I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with this book.
