More Text Than Sex by Jim Shomos – Review by Kerry Carr

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting story to read and I love how the you feel the presence of music and lyrics all through the book.
It is a romance build around a music studio and all the goings on that happen there but at the same time there are also other little stories running alongside and it all joins together beautifully.

I really love Annie’s character. She is a very strong and determined woman. She has a passion for music and a talent for singing which her ex husband tried to stop but in this story she is trying to make her comeback all while organising a songwriting contest with 2 people who hate each other and fighting her ex husband for custody of their son. These sides of Annie really help to show her as a real person and not just a character in a story.

The romance between her and Robbie is a very slow burner but it’s beautiful to see and read. I loved Robbie’s character but I feel he needed a bit more backbone especially around Cat. Cat terrifies him lol.

But these 3 people need to work together to make this songwriting contest a success but will that be easy with all the other things and situations happening around them?
