Can you imagine discovering the complexities of the music/lyrics of the Beatles at the age of 36 and writing a collection of poetry in response? That’s what this author did! Throughout this collection, the author paints vivid imagery of his life and/or emotions in each poem– telling us about his childhood, teenage, and adult experiences. There were times that I was a bit lost in the psychedelic nature of this poetry– maybe I would have understood it a little more if I too were on a different dimension but there many poems that were relatable in the sense of feeling lost in my mind or emotions. Also, the vocabulary is a bit challenging- so keep a dictionary or Google at the ready!

Petty’s Crime (Satan’s Devils MC Las Vegas Book 3) by Manda Mellett – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Petty's Crime (Satan's Devils MC Las Vegas #3)Petty’s Crime by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is the third book in this series and it keeps getting better and better with each installment. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up whether it is a book or an audio. They are great stories that you will fall in love with. This book is no different. This is a well written story about Petty and RoseLyn. They pull you into their story from the start. They had me coming back for more. They have great growth as well as the plot throughout the story. This is a fast paced romance story that has a touch of suspense. It is a hard to put down story that you don’t want to miss. A must read story and series. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The Intruders by Brett McKay – Review by Diane Sennett

The IntrudersThe Intruders by Brett McKay

The Intruders, originally published on Amazon’s Vella Platform is now an ebook. While I found the author’s notes at the end of each chapter to be distracting as I read; by the third chapter I skipped them, and the pace of the story flowed well. The story that Brett McKay brings to life was thrilling to read.
Dex Sanders is making his way through life as a car salesman, a career he’d like to change. He is a devoted husband and father. His life is turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Dex, his wife and children are abducted in the middle of the night and taken to an unknown place. When he is faced with a life-or-death situation, Dex only wants to keep his wife and children from harm’s way.
When an opportunity to escape is revealed, Dex and his family take refuge in a hotel with the police to protect them; however, can they trust the police, or anyone else?
Without giving away any details of the story, this book is action packed, fast-paced and I enjoyed reading it. I easily connected with the characters and rooted for them to triumph from start to finish.
I would recommend reading this book.

Borrowed Time by Lane Cohen – Review by Kimberly Wilkinson

Borrowed TimeBorrowed Time by Lane Cohen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Borrowed Time is another novel by Lane Cohen. It is a time travel fantasy with some sci-fi elements, drama, historical details, adventure, moral decisions, lots of dialogue, and interesting characters- with a bit of a nod to the 1960’s movie ‘The Time Machine”. If you could go back in time what would you do? Would you change your own history, or try to right some terrible wrongs? That is what these characters have to deal with and gonthrough in this book. They have to adapt to what they are given.  We follow along on as they travel back in time and get a front row seat to all the intriguing development and what they are going through. I think with how things have played out there may be another book or so.

Petty's Crime (Satan's Devils MC Las Vegas #3)Petty’s Crime by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can never get enough of this wonderful author, or the stories that they create with convincing characters that are real as ones can get! This book had me hooked right from the start and held me through the end!

Love Satan’s Devils with a passion. I must say at first glance, Petty was not someone I was super fond of, or even cared for for that matter. As I read I got to know what made Petty, well, and I must say by the time we reached the conclusion my opinion had shifted. I love how this author can captivate you with characters and do such a strong character development that an opinion you have of one, can completely be different by the end! Loved Rose by the way. She was a great character and brought out Petty’s softer side, especially the ordeals they faced I think those ordeals made Petty allow himself to open his heart, and admit all he had right in front of him and that he was not about to lose that! Freaking great read! Absolutely loved it!

The author absolutely amazes me in every book they release. I was sucked in hard from the start, and I did not want this book to end! Highly recommend this book, series and of course the author! A must read!

This book is a story about how a boy becomes a man in the Jewish tradition. When a boy reaches the age of 13, it is custom that he reads the Torah and prays to his family for the first time, signifying his manhood. Along with his family, Rabbi Menechachen and the Priest are present. Samuel has been taught by the Rabbi from a young age. The Rabbi saw much promise in Samuel from the beginning, to possibly be the Priest’s understudy in the tabernacle some day. After the reading, the Priest selects Samuel for the understudy position and he has to leave right away to begin. Once Samuel leaves home, he will never again go back home to live as he will continue studying and serving in the tabernacle.

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords Book 2) by Heidi Vanlandingham – Review by Breanne Christian

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords Book 2)Curse of the Elf Lord by Heidi Vanlandingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Curse of the Elf Lord is the second in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series by Heidi Vanlandingham. In this installment, focus switches to Hel, Loki’s daughter, and Bernard’s uncle Emilien. Hel had made the difficult decision of staying out of their daughter’s life as her realm was draining Shalendra’s life force and she was in danger of Loki finding out about her. Shalendra grew up with Emilien, believing that he was her brother. Then, entities started to disappear from the afterlife realms and Hel finds out that Shalendra contacted Freyja, saying Emilien was missing. Hel takes the journey to Midgard to calm Shalendra, where she makes the difficult decision to tell her that Emilien is her father, risking Emilien becoming mad at her. Only a strong blood bond, such as father to daughter, can locate him. Doing so may alert Loki to who she is to him. Can Hel find Emilien and who is responsible for the disappearing entities? Can she keep Shalendra safe from her father, Loki? Find out in Curse of the Elf Lord.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All characters were relatable, and the vivid descriptions allowed the reader to envision the realms. I would not change a single part of it. If you are looking for an enchanting read, don’t miss out on Curse of the Elf Lord.

Defying Ella (True Platinum Series Book 4) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Charlene Gonzalez

Defying EllaDefying Ella by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ella and Jared’s story is full of action and spicy romance. Snowed-in with their former lover and the current enemy is the best way to get closer but would be enough to feel the attraction of the past or would this be a mistake? Always on each other’s last nerve and full of spit and vinegar, Ella and Jared eventually let their guards down and open up to one another.

Morgan did an amazing job forming a rock star and a girl who just wanted to get away from what she thought were real feelings to I can’t stand him anymore. The best part the author used the storm’s method to bring those emotions back to the character, a truly classic story.

Shadow and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns, #2)Shadow and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 2nd book in the Fae and Crystal Thorn series. And wow. It picks up right at the end of the first book and carries on the fantasy adventure where Chloe and Quintus are trying to save the land of Faerie from the mortals. This story is packed with adventure and a theme which runs through everyone’s life really. When 2 sides are at war is there ever really a right or wrong side? This is the battle that Chloe is fighting with inside herself. She needs to save Faerie to save her life in the mortal realm. That was her plan, however things start to take a turn and she questions everything as her feelings for Quintus grows and he asks her to stay.

Can they save Faerie? Will Chloe give in to her feelings and stay with Quintus or will she return to the mortal realm to her family.
There are so many obstacles that Chloe must overcome before making her decision and the author does an amazing job with the world building making each magical being feel real and keeping the reader wanting more

Petty’s Crime (Satan’s Devils MC Las Vegas Book 3) by Manda Mellett – Review by Shelly Kittell

Petty's Crime (Satan's Devils MC Las Vegas #3)Petty’s Crime by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author has done it again. I’m familiar with Petty from little bits of him mentioned in her previous books. It was really quite interesting to get his story in this book. He grew up being taught that a man never hits a woman. When he married that “evil witch” of a wife and ends up being the abused husband, no one expects it. It broke my heart to read all the turmoil that her coming back into his life caused. I would have said, “Hell no.” He seemed to have feelings for RoseLyn and it would have been nice to see him acknowledge them sooner. For him to not really believe her, made it a bummer that she ended up getting kidnapped. Sometimes big drama has to happen to make you realize that you almost lost what you love. As usual, the author does not disappoint with her writing. We get snippets of the other characters in the MC. We have our drama, romance and flat-out butt kicking. One of my favorite MC writers, the book is a must read for MC fans and romantic suspense fans.

Petty's Crime (Satan's Devils MC Las Vegas #3)Petty’s Crime by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Petty was told by his father to protect girls/women, you do not hurt them. This was at the age of 4 and here he is many years later, a security detail to one of the most frustrating women he has ever met. Yet when she sings he is mesmerized. This story, much like the many others I have found myself reading my Manda Mellett, is wonderful. I love the way the author brings out the compassionate, empathetic sides to these supposed rough, tough biker guys. Petty is no exception to this. I loved this book.

This is a new to me author and I really enjoyed his writing style. This story follows 3 different persons. Cat, Annie and Robbie. While at times it was a little slow, the longer you read it the more invested and involved you become. The story line flows back and forth between the 3 major characters in the story and you watch how they grow and evolve together. Seeing how they run the music contest and their own personal battles outside of work was really intriguing.

This is the first book I e read by this author. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it but it was a good read.

Cat and Annie are organizing a songwriting contest. Thanks to the order of their boss, Robbie is now also working on this contest. Each character tells their perspective of working in the music industry because no two people experience something the same way. So many pressures come up for each character through the story and you see them fight to overcome everything.

This was very well written and I enjoyed it. Glad I gave it a chance!

Fighting Chance by Toni Denise – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Fighting ChanceFighting Chance by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is in the shorter side but definitely enjoyable nonetheless.

Kendall needs a story. While she isn’t fearless, she’ll do whatever it takes to get the story she needs. Then she meets Chad and everything she thought she knew is flipped upside down. Chad is the guy everyone wants. He is an MMA fighter so not only to all the women want him he’s the guy everyone wants to fight. Kendall isn’t the type of woman Chad usually deals with. He doesn’t know how to handle the fact that she doesn’t get all crazy over him like the others do. Chad isn’t your typical fighter and of course he keeps that close to the vest. Imagine how difficult it is agreeing to an interview when you know you are keeping secrets. These two have a lot of chemistry and once Chad gets Kendall to agree to a date, it should be smooth sailing. Will Kendall let down her guard enough to let Chad in or will their date be the start and end for them?

This isn’t your typical MMA story but I really liked that. The chemistry between Kendall and Chad was written very well. You could almost feel it jumping off the page. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out more by this author.

Musical Murder Mystery Boxed Set #1 (Musical Murder Mystery Series Books #1 – 3) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Angela Hayes

Musical Murder Mystery Boxed Set #1Musical Murder Mystery Boxed Set #1 by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Musical Murder Mystery Boxed Set #1 contains the first three books in this fun ‘musical’ mystery series by K.L. Montgomery. They’re intriguing cozy mysteries- where each book has its own ‘musical’ theme…. The Sound of Music, West Side Story, and Little Shop of Horrors- which gives each book, and the series as a whole, its own unique feel and identity. But you don’t need to love musicals, or even know anything about them, to appreciate each story…..but, for me, knowing the musical added an extra sense of fun to my overall reading experience.
We have a recurring cast of characters, who are well-developed, fun, and quirky. Ruby is so easy to like and made the stories all the more fun and interesting. Each book contains its own ‘mystery- which Ruby (and Co) investigate and try to solve. As Ruby is part of a traveling theatre performance troupe, the mysteries take place in different places where the troupe is booked to perform.
This series of whodunnit’s comes with plenty of wit, charm, fun, crime and investigation, drama, suspense, some mayhem, antics, banter, danger, intrigue, and much more…. all cleverly choreographed by K.L. Montgomery into a wonderfully engaging reading experience.
The Box Set Contains:
-The Sound of Murder (Book #1)
-West Side Murder (Book #2)
-Little Shop of Murder (Book #3)

Well worth the read!
Happy reading!

Thank you, K.L Montgomery!

Shadow and Crystal Thorns is the second book in the Fae and Crystal Thorns series by Kay L. Moody. As we discovered in Book #1, this series is a spellbinding spin-off from the ‘Fae of Bitter Thorn’ series (Chloe, our mc here is Elora’s (from FoBT series) sister.
This is such a fabulous YA fantasy with plenty of adventure, action, magic, danger, self-discovery, romance, politics, agendas, conflict, a battle for Fae Courts, sacrifice, hope, friendship, tension, intrigue, and high stakes. Oh, and did I mention Fae…. AND a Dragon?!?!?. Um…. If I didn’t already love Ms. Moody’s books, and this series- that element alone would have sealed the deal for me.
The story continues form Book #1, so if you haven’t read Flame & Crystal Thorns yet I highly recommend that you do before starting on this instalment- as knowing what happened previously will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book as a lot has happened- so you’ll find that first book holds a lot of important information you will want to know leading into book #2.
Shadow and Crystal Thorns finishes on somewhat of a cliffhanger, and the adventure is set to continue, so I can’t wait to get my hands on ‘Blade & Crystal Thorns (Book #3)- I am really excited to find that there are at least 2 more books planned to come after that…. Colour me excited to see where we go from here!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Kay L. Moody!

The Warrior is the third book in The Freemasons series by Nicole Flockton. It’s another captivating instalment in this fantastic series which is making it harder and harder to pick my favourite book- as each instalment seems to slightly eclipse the one(s) before. These Freemasons have well and truly won me over. But it’s not just the hunky characters that draw me in- these books have got a strong, meaty story to go along with all the sexy yumminess and enticing steamy developments.
With plenty of action, mystery, drama, intensity, chemistry, danger, tension, and crime + investigation- it kept me hooked right off the bat. I found myself reading avidly- devouring it all in one session, because I really needed to know how everything would play out in the end.
Jude Cadmon is willing to do whatever it takes to find his sister. It has taken a while, but finally, all their efforts seem to have come to fruition and the end is in sight- failure, now, is not an option. Enter Sienna Townsend, the ‘bait’ they need to set the trap that will ultimately bring down the enemy. Jude realises that he isn’t prepared to sacrifice ‘everything’, so is determined to keep Sienna safe in the dangerous process, while also saving his sister. What happens makes for quite an intriguing read.
Happy Reading!

Petty

I’m not the nicest person in the world, I’ve cultivated that world view. I’m a man’s man, full of testosterone and with the balls to prove it.

I’ve spent years kidding everyone as to who I am, hiding the parts of me I’m ashamed of.

I didn’t expect my nemesis to raise her head and step back into my life with the intention of destroying everything I’d so carefully crafted around me.

I thought we were over, done and finished, but she had different ideas. I’m no more able to protect myself now than I’ve been in the past.

RoseLyn

As I’ve a dangerous ex hounding me I’m under the protection of the Satan’s Devils’ Security Services.

Petty is one of my bodyguards and he’s an absolute dick. He has no respect for anyone other than his brothers. If he wasn’t so good at his job, I’d have demanded he be replaced.

Though slowly I come to discover there’s something about him, something I think only I can see. It lives beneath the persona he presents to the world.

Maybe as much as he’s protecting me, I can save him?

It won’t be easy. He’s not going to let anyone in. But when his brothers all desert him, there’s only one person he can turn to, and that’s me.

Fall to Pieces by Becky Flade – Review by Beverly Finnie

Fall to Pieces (Philly Heat series, #2)Fall to Pieces by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Definitely different, but I loved the different! Fall to Pieces is an investigation within an investigation. A murder mystery with Internal Affair’s right in the middle.
Lexi, a North East Philly detective, has been assigned a new partner. Xavier has been assigned to Lexi’s precinct to investigate Lexi, what better way to do that then as her partner. First case as partners, a homicide of a child. A case that could make or break her career Lexi is determined to get justice for the family.
Xavier is torn in his quest to prove that Lexi is unfit. Lexi exudes a lot of confidence and qualities he admires, but feels she can be careless. Oh and he’s also attracted to her, that never makes things easy.
I loved the character development of Lexi and Xavier as individuals and working together, but the book has me posing a few questions for you.
Will Lexi find out Xavier has been brought in to essentially “take her badge”?
Will Lexi and Xavier act on their mutual attraction?
Will justice be delivered for Tommy Welsh?
Three intriguing questions that have answers just as intriguing of answers, but if I answered them for you what good is that. READ FIND OUT THOSE 3 ANSWERS AND MORE! This is my second time reading this book. The first time was as a stand-alone, this time I read it in succession with book 1. Made me enjoy it so much more. I love when an author creates characters and focuses on specific ones with each book release.
It’s a whirlwind of a book that will DEFINITELY NOT DISAPPOINT! You are going to want more when it’s over!

Yesterday’s Over (Philly Heat Series Book 3) by Becky Flade – Review by Beverly Finnie

Yesterday's Over (Philly Heat series, #3)Yesterday’s Over by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

These books in this series are great! Yesterday’s Over is no exception. I loved it! I finally read the series in succession but it works just as well as a stand-alone. I love what the author is doing. How everyone is inter-mingled though each book focuses on a specific couple. Romance and some suspense, my favorite combination.
This time the author is focusing on Medical Examiner Trudy and UPenn Anthropologist Ben. Coming together is an unexpected way. A south Philly explosion uncovered bones that have been buried for at least 30 years. Unfortunately Trudy wants answers when Ben is trying to explain there never may be any. She doesn’t accept that. She pushes and pushes so hard they end up in a scary situation. Someone is after her or is it the bones. Break-ins and threats are made, but Trudy pushes forward despite Ben’s urgency to let it go. Ben cares for her but his lack of support could be a deal breaker. It has them at odds with one another, despite the chemistry.
Does Trudy get the answers she seeks?
What happens between Trudy and Ben?
Again I love what the author has done across this whole series. I was drawn to this series because it’s based in Philadelphia PA, and I’m glad. I started and haven’t looked back. I want more! You want some suspenseful romances the Philly Heat Series is definitely for you!

A Love Restrained by Becky Flade – Review by Beverly Finnie

A Love Restrained (Philly Heat series, #1)A Love Restrained by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the beginning of the Philly Heat Series and all I have to say is WOW! A Love Restrained was the perfect beginning to a promising series. It reads well as a stand-alone as well. But who am I kidding I love characters I can get invested in over a series leaving me wanting more. A second chance romance with some suspense thrown in. Where could it go wrong? Everywhere but that’s what makes it a wonderful story!
Kylee and Jayson knew each other in high school. Both having feelings for the other. Unfortunately Jayson broke his promise to Kylee and left her devastated. Now he’s back and she just arrested him for selling drugs. How does one handle that?
Kylee knew he didn’t come from a good home. She figures that’s what landed him in her custody today, little does she know how wrong she is. Spoilers I’m not willing to share eventually clear the blinders on her eyes.
Jayson wants Kylee more now than he did when they were younger. It’s too dangerous though, especially since she’s a cop. He’s a criminal working near the top of a crime organization. It could never work. Or could it?
These characters challenge each other in so many ways. You understand where both are coming from. How stubborn they are. Reminds me of my stubborn streaks. I’m a Jayson fan and I’m rooting for them to work it all out.
Where will the author take this story?
What will come next in this series?
What happens when the tables are turned?
I really enjoyed this book and this author. Wonderfully written and perfect to grab someone into a series!

Yesterday’s Over (Philly Heat Series Book 3) by Becky Flade

Yesterday’s Over is the third book in the Philly Heat series and I truly enjoyed reading this book. This is Romance Thriller that will have you turning the pages trying to figure out is going to happen next. This is a fast paced story that is packed with action, drama, suspense, murder mystery and so much more. The characters are amazing and really bring the story to life. This is a story about Ben and Trudy. She works as a Medical examiner who happens to find some bones under a house after an explosion and finds herself working with Ben who is a anthropologist. These two see this case from different views but can they figure out who committed the crime ? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next.

Defying Ella (True Platinum Series Book 4) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Robin Rankin

Defying Ella: A Close Proximity Rock Star Romance (True Platinum Series Book 4)

The tension between these two from the beginning is off the charts and it only builds from there.

Ella has no problem standing up for herself and she proves it time and time again and has earned her time away now that the tour is over.

I love Ella and felt a kinship with her as she was nested under several blankets and layers of clothes during winter weather that knocks out the power. There is nothing worse than having to emerge from that warmth.

There is so much emotion in both of them and it doesn’t always come out in the best way or result in a positive ending.

Great standalone book and it only makes me want to go back and read the others. Will definitely be keeping a lookout for more by this author.

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords #2) by Heidi Vanlandingham

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Curse of the Elf Lord is the second book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords Series. I really loved this book and will be looking forward to more.

Émilien is trying to figure out what is going on. Why are there undead going missing? What does this have to do with Hel? Something isn’t right and he wants to figure it out. Can he win back Hel’s heart? The quote I chose for Émilien is: “Theirs is a cursed afterlife—neither dead nor living. Like zombies but not. They are supposedly the worst of the undead, doomed by their own malevolent deeds or by a necromancer. We stumbled upon them not long ago in the United States. They actually ended up helping us in our fight.”

Hel is at Émilien’s place and isn’t sure how to deal with everything. She came to tell him something, but is more concerned with her daughter. Can she and Émilien work things out? The quote I chose for Hel is: “I do, but it’s so difficult to know she’s here and not with me. I’m her mother, yet I am a total stranger to her. I haven’t forgotten how sick Helheimr made her, but maybe she’s outgrown her allergy? How can we know if you don’t let her try?”

Highly recommended for Fantasy lovers.

This was a great 5 star read.
I really loved the characters, their story pulled me right in from the beginning.
Trudy and Ben were great. Trudy meets Ben while working on a case. Ben is also working on the same case. They work together to find the answers they are looking for. Their connection also grew. Will they get to the truth before the killer gets to them?

Overall this was a great read. We get suspense, romance, mystery and so much more. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. The author does a great job with her writing. I look forward to reading more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

This was a really good book! I loved the tension, the characters, the spice and the romance! It felt like this book has just about everything someone is looking for in it. I haven’t read the previous books in the series but other than a few characters I had no issue with reading this as a standalone book. I really enjoyed reading this one and can’t wait to read more in the future!
