Glass Houses is a quick little spooky novella. It is a quick read, able to be read within an hour. We are met with the main couple who you can immediately tell are having marital issues. It is slightly confusing and did take me a second to put all the points together. But once you do your mind will go “OH MY GOODNESS”. This was a well put together story and if you’re looking for something quick and spooky, look no further. Review by @michellerenee6590
I picked up this book as soon as I saw the cover and after reading the synopsis, I KNEW I had found a good one! I’m beyond excited that I didn’t miss out on this and hope to see much more from this author.
While normally people think of imaginary friends as cute and ordinary, 5-year-old Missy is about to flip your world upside down. She has a wonderful imaginary friend named Fred, and he likes to be perked on her shoulder. Did I mention Fred is a spider?! Missy sees spiders everywhere and while this would creep me out, her parents seem to think it’s just a phase. But when people start dying in mysterious circumstances, is Missy or Fred to blame?
I could NOT read this book fast enough! I plowed through it with minimal pauses, and I highly recommend picking this up. Full of creepy crawlies, horror, and plenty of action, you won’t be able to put it down!
I LOVE a good wholesome Christmas story and this one did not disappoint! The pandemic was a tough time for Carina. She faced many challenges and is working on learning to overcome and live her new normal. When a friend offers his cabin to her for a Christmas family getaway, she dreams of what that may be like. When her grown kids sound like they won’t make it for the holiday, Carina finds herself wondering if she could make the trip alone and what that may look like.
I was glad to see a post-pandemic world reflected in a story. Humanity as a whole experienced a big shift in everyday life. We experienced, love and loss and we are still recovering. This was a wonderful story of self-discovery, self-growth, and reflection as Carina’s story progressed. No matter what you experienced during the pandemic, you can relate. I found myself fully enveloped by the winter wonderland and it was magical. Carina is surrounded by a melting pot of supporting characters that perfectly shape her world. This was a beautiful journey that I was pleased to take alongside Carina.

It’s hard to believe that this is Alexander Blevens’ debut novel because this knocked me off my feet! The flow of the story is flawless and full of forgiveness and culture. I have already recommended to a few friends right after I finished!
Rex and Nguyen are both soldiers in the Vietnam war, and while they both survive those indescribable battles, they head home with their own secrets. Rex tries to raise his sons to the best of his ability, but he can see that his guilt is affecting them subconsciously. Mis-Spelled is the first book in The Stellaluna Chronicles and is a YA Fantasy that is packed with action, adventure, drama , magic, humor and much , much more. I found myself caught up in the pages and couldn’t put it down. This is aimed for ages twelve to eighteen but I think all ages can truly enjoy this book. This is a new to me author but I definitely look forward to reading more from him. This authors style of writing along with pretty amazing characters make for a fun quest. This is about Evan and the obstacles he faces while on a quest. There’s a bit of humor and self realizations along the way. I highly recommend reading this fun book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this series.

What a beautiful story this is. And the lesson it tells made me so happy. As an animal lover I fell in love with this book. If only all turkeys had the ending this one did getting sent to a Pardon Park. I thought that the idea of the family making the decision together after voting was a terrific addition to add because you do not see many families doing that. So technically this story teaches not only of how turkeys are pardoned by our President but also about voting to get a consensus. I loved the illustrations! They were probably some of the best that I have seen from her books. That could be because I love fall and since this story takes place in November there is a lot of fall to see. Remarkable story.
I am quite familiar with the books that this author writes. This one was longer than most of the other books that I have read and are geared towards a middle school reader and not her typical elementary school readers. This one is quite unique and like her typical stories does have a lesson to learn with it. I loved that the story that she told and how she incorporated the ability to change, or shift, into any animal that she dreams about. I will say that she had me sitting on the edge of my seat during parts of this story because it could have ended entirely different than it did. I would highly recommend this book for any middle school or advanced elementary school reader that you know. It would also make a perfect gift for giving here at the holiday season.
Be prepared for this funny romantic suspense story. Jenna has left her boyfriend and has decided to try out a different bar. Back story is Jenna has money and all of her previous boyfriends just want her money. Including Steve, her last one. Although he kept bugging her to add his name to her bank account. He hit the red flag and she was over him.Andy is minding his own business when a girl walks in and puts an envelope in his lap. Shocked, he tried to catch up with her, but she was gone. In that envelope he found a few thousand dollars and a note. That’s it, no spoilers. This is one you will need to read to believe it. This author has done it once again. Kept me up all night reading her book. But so worth the adventure, intrigue and suspense. The story is well written and fast paced. She got me on page two and I was off. Her main characters are just plain everyday people caught up in the kidnapping. I have read books from this author and never second guess buying her books. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

This book is geared toward children between the ages of nine and twelve. It’s a creative story filled with fantasy, magic and drama. Gwendolyn is a dream shifter. She becomes the animal that she’s dreaming about. She usually wakes up a girl again but one night a fire alarm jars her from her sleep. She wakes up as an elk during elk hunting season. One problem, she doesn’t know how to shift back to being human.
I’ve read many books by this author and usually they are aimed at a younger audience. This was a nice change. Personally I had a hard time with the book because I didn’t like the main character. I found her selfish and annoying. I believe children will thoroughly enjoy the book though. They will be able to relate to certain aspects of the story. Every child loves magic and talking animals.

Operation Blackbird is the second book in the Brass Compass series by Ellen Butler. Set in 1952, a CIA officer has to confront her past while saving a scientist trying to defect to East Berlin without alerting the KGB. You must grab this book if you enjoy historical thrillers with a strong female lead. I had already read the first book in this series, but this could be enjoyed as a standalone. Miriam Becker is a fantastic character who has seen the best and worst of people. I enjoy reading about her adventures because she is intelligent and very human. I enjoyed how the story differed from other spy thrillers dealing with the Cold War. There are sections I felt like I was holding my breath, waiting to find out what would happen. I always enjoy this author’s books and look forward to reading more from her.

This book was super cute!! I got this thinking that my youngest daughter (7) would like it. My oldest (10) also enjoyed not only the story but the fun illustrations as well. The Queen in this book is know as the most fair and honest person in the Kingdom of Aleta. Everyone comes to her with their problems so they can be solved fairly. She uses a mirror to help her with the harder problems. Looking for the sparkle of fairness in everyone’s eyes each time. When the dwarves bring her a problem where both sides think they are being fair the Queen needs her mirror. But there is a problem when the mirror shows her that SHE isn’t the fairest! Oh my! She entrusts Snow White to get to the bottom of the problem. Can Snow White find out where things went wrong? How is the Queen not fair? Will the poor dwarves’ problem get solved? What will happen to the Queen?! Such a fun book. In the back of the book it has information on how mirrors work and reflect. It’s a great way to help your kids learn about some science stuff while reading a cute book. I would recommend this book (and the other science books she’s written) for kids ages 5-10. I know my two kiddos have enjoyed them all so far!! Can’t wait for more!!

Rex Thompson made a huge mistake while serving in Vietnam and Nguyen Duc Dung not only witnessed the mistake but paid a huge price for it. Many years later and a world apart, their lives would come together again.
Rex wasn’t the best husband, father, employee, or friend and he’s trying to change that. Or at least he thought he was. Ruled by the bottle, Rex ends up making even more mistakes and one day escapes his two teenage sons to try to make amends. Little does he know that Jake and Pigeon are going to follow in his footsteps in an even worse manner.
Dung ends up dead one day and everyone is pointing the finger at Rex, except that he’s nowhere around. The only other logical conclusion is that his son’s have sunk the boat that they fell in love with, but lost, when their dad ran away.
Rex finally returns home to learn of Dung’s death and this stirs up many thoughts of the past. Did this have something to do with him afterall or is he just the bycatch?
This was an enjoyable novel full of mystery and intrigue. I found myself liking Rex from the beginning even though I knew he was not the most reputable person. This is a story of hatred and love, forgiveness and abandonment, of redemption and saving.

Gwendolyn is in a class to become a journalist, her assignment funeral director. After finally finding someone to interview, Gwendolyn meets Marjorie who is odd to say the least but not the oddest thing that happens. That night though everything changes, a fire erupts in her home and Gwendolyn finds herself waking up as an elk. Now Gwendolyn is having to live life with her family as an elk, but will she be able to shift back to human or is this her fate.
I thought this was delightful. Having Gwendolyn have to navigate about the changes in her life were spot on. I enjoyed all the characters in the story and was anxious to see what would happen next. I make note of Marjorie specifically as I found her character very intriguing.

I love a good Christmas romance and with the A Christmas to Remember anthology by 5 Prince Publishing, you get 7 of them. This book is around 600 pages but well worth the read. You get such a good variety of romance against the backdrop of Christmas. There are enemies to lovers, small-town romance, surprise romance, and a lot more. It’s hard to pick a favorite and I won’t try. All the stories are wonderfully written and absolutely adorable. This was the perfect book to start my holiday season with. Out of all the stories, you are bound to find one you enjoy, if not all of them.

Poor Evan! One second, he was being chased in Texas and the next minute after jumping a ravine he ends up in the land of fairytales and all the beings found in fairytales. Evan is very aware of these creatures now and must complete three tasks as assigned by the Elven Queen in which they become more dangerous by the task. These tasks must be completed so that the Elf Queen will give Evan the spell to return to his home world but if he fails or chooses not to do the tasks, he will be in servitude of her for ten years! The choice is his: three tasks or servitude for 10 years. So, Evan decides to take on the tasks from the Queen and along the way he makes truly great friends even when others are baffled by his choices. Assassination attempts are made on his life as he completes the quests as they truly are more than a menial task. Trolls, dragons, ogres and more stand in his way of going home. The best part of Stellaluna is that as a human being, Evan can learn any type of magic and finds those to teach him along the way and may I add, he finds a cute little girlfriend as well, even if she is engaged to a pompous ass of an elf! You must read the book to find out if he completes his quests and how he makes out in another world! Such great characters and so easy to root for and to fall in love with and to wish them well! No spoilers but I like the fact that Evan stays true to himself to the very end. Once you read the book you will understand how important it is to him and how he does it. The storyline was wonderful and engaging! The book was so hard to put down as I just kept wanting more of the tasks and the other creatures of the fairytale world! Looking forward to more stories from Stellaluna Chronicles!

I have read many books by this author and she has not disappointed. This is a good book for not only teaching children lessons but also explaining science. This book would be great for children about 7-9. I just wish my children were younger I would definitely have them read these. I like how she is able to engage the reader and make something they may find hard easier. I highly recommend this series to anyone with younger children. A very good way also to introduce science to children.
Cute story perfectly in time for the upcoming holiday. The story follows a turkey as he goes through a varying degree of emotions. He wants chosen but to be a pet not food. Will he survive this Thanksgiving season?
This author comes up with wonderfully imaginative stories and this one is no exception. The pages are colorful and reflect the storytelling perfectly. A fun story for kids of all ages.

This a great short story that illustrates how important it is to be fair and to consider all sides of a problem. I enjoyed reading about the dilemmas and seeing how the queen dealt with the problems that the mirror didn’t easily give an answer to. This book not only teaches about being kind and fair but also accountability and even how a mirror works. I would recommend this book to anyone but especially young children who could learn more about the way a mirror works and how to be a well rounded person.
What a way to start off the Christmas Season! Anyone else ready for cozy Christmas reads once November 1st hits? I truly enjoyed this cozy heart warming , Christmas Romance. It was cozy and at sometimes cheesy but I personally believe thats absolutely necessary for a cozy Christmas romance. I really enjoyed the relatable realistic characters (of all ages, I may add). If you are looking for a good read to kick off Christmas Season, this one is it!
A good next installment that continues the path of Chloe and Quintus’ journey of protection and hardships as they keep the Faerie and human realms alive. With a fast paced race as our beloved characters fight to find what will be the saving graces of their worlds, they deal with the blooming relationship between them.
This contains many twists and turns and they try to find their way, and it’s clear that both Chloe and Quintus come into their own during this book. In the first installment we saw who they were and learned about them, but with this piece we truly see how they are and who they grow into.

Five year old Missy loves spiders, she sees them everywhere, they follow her everywhere, more than she can count. She even has an “imaginary” pet tarantula named Fred. She insists the eight legged creatures she sees are real but no one believes her until people start dying. This is a book that will keep you up at night and jump from the slightest touch! I really enjoyed this unique read! Hawkins creates a world that is as creepy as it is mesmerizing. The fact that we, as the reader, are experiencing this from the perspective of a five year old makes this story even more horrifying. This book truly gave me goosebumps. Missy, Fred, and their spider friends have ensured that I will be terrified of spiders for the rest of my life. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good scare!
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. The Perfect Mrs. Claus is a great Christmas time read. It does show that the second Halloween is over with Christmas starts coming into the stores.
Matthew is the director of the holiday sections at a local hardware store. He sees a woman who could be the perfect fit for Mrs. Claus. When he goes to introduce himself he falls on her. The quote I chose for Matthew is: “Oh, it’s not a pickup line or anything like that. It’s a proposal, a job proposal I have for you, if you are interested, and I hope you are.”
Savannah has been to the hardware store several times. From her childhood to that of her son’s childhood. With her son living somewhere else and her husband dead she finds that she’s in a rut. The quote I chose for Savannah is: “Mr. Buck, I’m a woman in my early fifties, and I have no problem letting the world know that’s what I am. Age is a gift not given to many, or something like that. I don’t look back and wish I was younger. I look forward to everything that’s yet to come—my son getting married, giving me a grandchild or two, and retiring to my namesake city. I try to look forward, not to look back. So go on. Why me?”

I really love this author and I have read many of her books and this one was just another great story. I like how she brings in the drama and mixes a bit of romance. The stories are so full of action and drama that you get swept into them. The characters are always well written with enough back story to support. I love how the books blend well into the next and I cannot wait to read more from this author. I cannot put these books down as I am at the edge of my seat wanting to see what will happen next.
The chemistry between the characters is really good. I am well impressed how the author builds the world around the characters. I really felt as though I was right in the midst of the action. Mafia romances are one of my top 10 favorite genres. I will definitely be reading more of this series. I cannot wait!
This was a great book. Normally court related books sort of bore me. This one kept my attention and coming back to it. The plot and characters were great. I had a great time reading this book. I think this book displays people in same sex relationships and corrupted people in charge really well.
I enjoyed reading this holiday story. This is a new author for me which I look forward to seeing what is next for her. This is a well written story about Carina. She has just spent a month in the hospital and is now looking forward to having a family holiday. What will happen when she is left to her own and is offered a cabin? What kind of Christmas will she have? I enjoyed her character and what she brought to the story. There is some emotional roller coaster in parts but that just makes her a stronger character. There is great growth to this story. It is fast paced and hard to put down. This is a story you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.

Order of Vesper Reyes is a very exciting and fast paced read. There is a lot going on in the story and it keeps the reader very engaged with the plot. I really love how the characters interact with each other. The main character is very relatable and I enjoyed how she dealt with anything major with humor.

Juliet is a woman very passionate about her job as a teacher who while teaching a class about Romeo and Juliet meets an older student James (Jim) who is as good looking as he is infuriating! He is extremely attracted to her and is determined to break down the walls surrounding her heart to prove he can be the man for her. I will be completely honest with you and say that when I first starting reading this book I wasn’t sure 100% sure about these characters especially Jim and it took me a little while to connect with them but I am very happy that I kept reading! As I read more and more, the characters and storyline developed and so did my enjoyment of this book!

This truly was a wonderful read that fills you with the Christmas spirit along the way. You just can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy after reading this! The writing of this talented author creates such vivid images in your imagination you truly feel as if you can see it all happening right in front of you. The lead characters, Matthew and Savannah, are wonderful and draw straight into your heart. They are completely relatable and heartfelt characters. If you are after a read that has heart and emotion, that will lift your spirits and has a happy ending then this is the book for you.

I really enjoyed this historical Thriller. The author does and amazing job of transporting the reader back to a time of war and desperation and takes you right up to the present day. This is definately a story that makes you think and contemplate your actions in life as this story shows that your actions have consequences further down the line and not just for you but for other people.
This story is gripping, with secrets, lies, revenge and greed. You also feel the after affects of one person’s actions as they suffer either guilt and remorse for what happened but can’t seem to find a way to make amends for the past.
It is a moving story about war and how it affects people. When a crime is committed by Rex Thompson during war in Vietnam he is plagued by the guilt for years however he thinks his secret is safe. Until the daughter of an immigrant fisherman comes knocking. Rex’s sons are responsible for her father’s death and after uncovering his journal Anh comes to Rex looking for answers not only for her father’s death but also the past.
Now Rex has a tough decision to make, does he tell the truth about what happened all those years before or does he remain quiet and try and protect his sons?
It’s a gripping and emotional read as there are so many lives that are affected by one mistake in time.

A story that speaks to you no matter what walk of life or path you are on. I enjoyed the author’s writing and the way the words and the story flowed. Beautiful and mesmerizing in its own way. Beautiful writing.
I am not Jewish, but many people dear to my heart are, so reading this what it is like for a boy to step into manhood is eye opening. The boy the story surrounds, who is going to man hood, learns of the things he must to become a man The ripping of the veil, was not something I had much knowledge on, but the story intrigued me, and made me want to understand more. I felt for Samuel, the boy the story is about, he became an understudy, and there, he would never return home, because of the path he is on now. I find that heart breaking, but yet even though he was chosen for it, perhaps it is a path he will grow to choose? I really enjoyed this author and the story they created. Visually, my eyes as well as my heart are open more, and I want to know more. I will be doing my own research for sure in relation to events of this book, as I want to understand more now that I got a taste. SO glad I got to read this book, definitely an eye opener.
I did not know much about traditions and such of being Jewish, but reading this book really helped me embrace what I did not know. A must read for sure! Highly recommend this author. and their book!
