A Dowry of Snails and Mud by Brittany Tucker – Review by Jess Dimmock
A Dowry of Snails and Mud by Brittany Tucker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a really great medieval tale! The female lead is strong without tragedy, and the male lead doesn’t have that “Prince Charming” attitude where you want to reach into the novel and slap him.
Through the novel we get to see so much character growth without it being shoved in your face and lots of characters that aren’t what they seem. The world building is beautifully done and the adversity of the situation is done so well without bogging down the story in a constant feeling of depression! This is just an all-around tale written so well I put it on par with the likes of Tamorah Pierce. I think this one should be that book people will talk about and recommend to all their friends with teens and pre-teens, or even adults just looking for a feel-good read!
