My Inner Critic by Christine Bernard

Relatable fictional story that plays off a real pet of the author, and it done very well. Using a story as a guide through this “made-up world” the reader is quick to empathize and relate more than usual. Using such a heavy topic and spinning it to come across as lighthearted while still hitting home is something of wonder. Bernard’s writing was fictional but felt so personal, it was like having a look at her (and sometimes my own) inner monologue. A good read!
