Manipulator’s War is the first book in the Ruarnon Trilogy and the debut novel by Elise Carlson. This story sees Ruarnon trying to prove their worth as heir to Tarlah’s perfect King. Their parents get kidnapped and they find themselves ruling Tarlah with impending war and no allies.

I found this story very interesting. The book also has tons of diverse characters. Since there are a lot of characters it can be a bit overwhelming at times to keep up. The book has a lot of elements that YA Fantasy fans will enjoy like time travel and sea monsters. The book is action-packed and with the exception of some flow issues, is very fun and entertaining.
