This was a really good read! This book picks up a year after the prequel novella and starts basically right where it left off. The sexual tension was insane (even though there was a scene that made me slightly uncomfortable considering Riley was 17 during the scene) and it was just well written to me. This is a bully romance, so besides tension there’s a very scenes that may be pushing boundaries if that isn’t your thing. This book did end on a pretty big cliffhanger. Overall I enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Suspicions is the fifth book in the Notebook Mysteries series by Kimberly Mullins. This book took me back to my roots of being a bookworm sleuth. I have always loved mystery books with the first big series being Nancy Drew. This is one of my favorite series since then. Mullins grabbed my attention right away with Emma being attacked by an assailant who “stabs at her neck frantically with knitting needles…. They wanted me to talk to you first because I could keep you calm. Let’s start again.” This interaction was like a movie playing in my head. It felt so real, and the rest of the book flowed nicely with the same quality. From the very beginning, Emma has found herself in a criminal family starting with the old lady who attacked her. Will she be able to find all of the players linked to the missing children? Find out by reading Notebook Mysteries: Suspicions!

I am well past the intended age group of readers for this wonderful book but I truly enjoyed it and can see many others enjoying it too! Zarina is a true spoilt brat at the beginning but she grows and changes over the course of the story and I think it is something that will draw young readers in and is fantastic for them to experience while captivated by this great storyline. This author is definitely going places and i for one will be keeping a watch on her future books.

I really enjoyed this book. My normal genre tends to be historical romance and this hit the spot. Between the fiction and diary entries, you can see the author put a lot of work into building the characters. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Streets of Shadow by Rebecca Bischoff . I have truly enjoyed this series and this author has the magical way of writing that makes you feel like you are in Edinburgh in the 1600s. Its the story of 15 year old Kenna who has discovered her sister has been murdered she is determined to not stop until she finds the killer. Kenna may be only 15 but she is strong, determined, hard working and ready to see this case thru. She is putting herself in all kinds of danger trying to solve this murder. When the police think she is trying to throw them off her scent they begin to suspect she is the killer. She is trying to solve the murder of her sister all the while trying to remain a lady and keep her place in society Will she be able to solve the case and also survive? Fallen Soul (War of Destiny Book 4) by Theresa Van Spankeren. This is the 4th book in the War of Destiny series and while it can be read as a standalone I believe you will enjoy it much more if you read them all. This is the story of Lane who has been kicked out of his home by the Vampire King, Valentino. Valentino believes that Lane is a true threat to him so not only does he want him out of their home, he wants him dead. Valentino thinks Lane is a threat because of his powers. As Lane becomes very homesick he travels toward Ireland and ends up in Rome. Being discovered Valentino sends two of his members to kill him. This is a fast paced thriller with vampires galore. When you start to read it beware you won’t want to put it down.

This is the first book in the Hidden Valley Elite series and I have been so excited to read it. After reading the prequel Savage Start and meeting Cole and Riley I couldn’t wait to see how their story continued and boy I wasn’t disappointed. The fire and what they believe is hatred between them is off the charts. I don’t think I’ve ever read about a couple with such hate towards one another. However it is easy to see that the hate is just a mask that both wear to protect themselves. Both Riley and Cole have had traumas in their pasts which have shaped the way they are today. Cole who lost his mum has laid all the blame at his dad’s feet, and Riley and her mum are always on the run trying to escape Rileys dad. When they meet get both of their worlds get blown apart when Rileys mum and Coles dad become a couple. Now full of mixed emotions, desire, hate, feelings of being unsafe and vulnerable, Cole’s hate towards his father, they have to try to coexist under the same roof and at the same school. But how long can they both keep pretending? And what happens if the truth comes out?
This is an amazing read filled with pain and revenge but also hope and passion. I definately recommend reading Savage Start first so that you get the complete backstory to out characters and I can’t wait to see where the author is going to take us next.

Beware: This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing. 4.5 stars Coming hot off the heels of the prequel Savage Start is the first Book in the Hidden Valley Elite series is Savage Lies. Thankfully this book is 201ish pages so we can get our teeth into this story unlike the prequel which was only 55 pages. Having said that make sure you read the prequel first. This is an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, sports high school bully romance. This is dark and scandalous. Some of my favourite things. Being a high school romance, it is full of angst and drama, dark lies and secrets, jealousy and bullying. It is as intriguing as it is intense, and the fury and hatred is palpable. She thought a new place would hide her truth and secrets but, in a world, where the Elite exists nothing could be farther than the truth. She has made a deadly enemy but she may have lost a battle, but she will not lose the war. He is one of the deadly Elite, the Academy’s football stars, privileged boys who rule on and off the ground. Those who play to win and anyone who stands in their way is taken down. They are playing a dangerous game where lies and lives are at stake. She is now on his radar and revenge is sweet. There are characters you will love to hate and others you will hate to love and others you just want to reduce to ashes. It does end in a cliff-hanger. I can’t wait for Savage Truth. Who will win this war?

This book isn’t my first in this series, as I read the prequel – Savage Start. I loved this follow up. However, this one is not a standalone. I wouldn’t say that you need to read the prequel, but know that this book does not end with any resolution. Rather, it definitely is going to be continued with the second book. This book is the perfect balance of chemistry and animosity. Cole and Riley are such complex characters and their story only continues to get so much more complex. I definitely cannot wait for the next book. I definitely recommend it as it is going to be a beginning piece in an absolutely amazing series!

I can’t wait for the next book to come out! I’m hooked on this series! I read the prequel and now that I have read Savage Lies. I’m so happy! My only issue is it ended so quickly, I need the next book. I want to finish this story! These two characters are amazing. I love how the author has written the animosity as well as chemistry between them. Cole and Riley, what is there to say. There’s so much hate between them. But they can’t stay away from one another. Riley feels Cole is a rich spoiled kid, when in reality Cole has other motives for his hate. Unfortunately for Riley he’s taking it out on her. Cole wants to break her, but she’s stronger than he realizes. He doesn’t know what she came from, but he wants her gone. Especially since she’s now living in his house. Their story doesn’t end in this book, but it does have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what’s next. What will happen between them? This is the beginning of a series I look forward to reading in its entirety. Two sets of brothers that are cousins, each being coupled into two books as the focus. What else could you ask for? Who else wants to jump on this wagon with me? I guarantee if you like enemies to lovers romances trust me when I say this series is perfect, but they have to be read together. No standalones here.

After reading the prequel story I could not wait to start this book. I wanted to read more about these characters and see how their story would develop. They have such a strong connection that could be felt in every interaction. This author has a really strong writing style that draws in the reader and it is one that I really enjoy. I really loved reading this book and I cannot wait to read more by this author.

Not really sure where to begin with this review. The book is a walking porn and if you aren’t into that, don’t read it but if you are, absolutely recommend reading it. This is a short story trilogy, where each story interacts with one another.
I was so excited about this one after reading Savage Start. The tension between Cole and Riley builds throughout this book as Cole’s anger toward his father increases. This started a little slow for me and didn’t pick up until about 1/3 of the way through, but once it did I was unable to put it down till I was finished. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

This book was a fun little twist. Normally you expect the fall in love after heartbreak and betrayal but you don’t expect it to be with your exes trainer from the gym. This story will make you laugh and even make you mad. It is a short enough book to read in a day but long enough to take a few hours. There are a lot of R rated things though so be warned!
This was a fast-paced read, and the characters are well-written. While I admit, Cole was very irritating to me, I understand his reasons for not wanting his father to find happiness; his treatment towards Riley goes beyond the pale. Riley, is truly a fish-out of water in this new life her mother has put her in. While she is treading water, she must remain strong, especially when it comes to Cole and his minions. I am looking forward to more of their story.

Emma is one of my favorite female leads in a story ever. She is strong heroine who always finds her guy or gal whichever the case may be. This author not only creates this amazing historical narrative but also provides a compelling list of characters. If you are gonna read this series it is best to start from the beginning and you won’t regret it as it is an amazing series! You can’t go wrong with one of this author’s books.
Lois Wickstrom has created a fun fractured tale based on Chicken Little. In this tale, Chicken little isn’t so naïve, and decides to investigate about “the sky falling”. This is a series that keeps getting better and better with every installment. This is the fourth book in this series which you do not want to miss. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series to help your enjoyment of this series as well as this author’s writing skills. I enjoyed how the characters are connectable and pulled me into their world. They are strong and supportive of each other and keep the story engaging. I enjoyed the adventure of time travel and to see what happens to Will and Maggie. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. Don’t miss the adventure that Will and Maggie take you on in this installment. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites for sure. I enjoy this author’s writing style as well as their attention to details that make them realistic. This one is no different. This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story that had me coming back for more and characters that pop off the pages. They are connectable and bring life to the story. They added so much to the story and made it easy to read. They bring emotions to a new level as well as secrets and danger. There is great growth of the plot which added to the entertainment of the story. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

When I saw this book on my suggested reads I was super excited to read it as I have always wanted to write a historical fiction novel and knew that this would be a great place to start! Reading this book helped me in knowing how much would go into writing a book like this, even though I have always known it would a bit more work than the normal novel as if I were to go about this the right way I would want it to be historically accurate. After reading this book I have a good idea on where to start, and what the process will look like, which I believe is helpful to any author. I highly suggest everyone who plans to write a historical fiction novel in the future start by reading this book!

Intriguing. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. Harry is a wonderful character, and has such an interesting history. He goes into stasis and then when he comes out it, he is a new being. He remembers all his previous lives, which he has hundreds and thousands of them. In this story, we see his life as a mantis, and meet Bakari. I couldn’t understand why she would take Harry, and honestly still don’t but, it was nerve wrecking watching Tristan and Elena worry over him and where he was. Harry in the mean time is content and is learning how to connect with his own power again, as we get a glimpse of his previous lives. It seems like through this ordeal with Bakari, Harry is able to come into a different form, one that leaves Tristan and Elena speechless. Great read, very creative story!

I can’t get enough! Riley and cole both have skeletons and what makes the story so angsty and frustrating is the lack of communication. But I can understand not wanting to divulge your deepest darkest secrets to someone you don’t even know or can’t trust. The chemistry between Riley and Cole is off the charts. It’s nice to see that although cole wants to ice her out, he doesn’t want her hurt, that shows he does have a heart and feelings towards her. I can’t wait for the next book and to see what becomes of Riley and Cole and their relationship, as well as what kind of man her father is to instill this fear her and her mother have.

Just One Time: A Small Town Best Friends to Lovers Romance (Beaumont Creek Book 1) is simply an amazing read. Abby is turning 40 and after many set ups from her meddling mother, Abby decided she wants a baby and Nate her best friend is only eager to help her. When she gets pregnant the old fashion way, you slowly see them start to fall for each other, and with being scared to open up to each other, they fail to communicate properly. This read was full of laughs, feels, and spiciness. I truly felt that the book was so well written. Samantha Baca truly has way of bringing us along for an amazing ride into the world of Abby and Nate, and waiting till they can finally have a happy ever after! I can not wait to read more in this series!

I love Lois Wickstrom’s stories about Loretta. She reminds me of my son. Loretta is an animal and bug lover and she will protect even the ones that are destroying her new orange tree. Cole and Riley.. fire and ice.. Cole is successfully getting under Riley’s skin and slowly figuring out the secrets in her life. Will their attraction bring them together or push them apart? From the looks of it, the answer is both. These two have had a multitude of trauma in their lives and their parents are not helping.
I cannot wait to find out what happens next – this novel ended on a cliff hanger. I’m sprinting to read the next one in the series!

Loretta, a lover of insects, discovers her orange tree is infested with aphids. Because Loretta likes insets of all kinds, she leaves, them, even if they pose a risk to the little tree. Luckily, another insect takes up residence on the tree: a katydid. This children’s book is perfect for inquisitive minds! The illustrations are cute and follow the story well. Once again, I feel like I’ve learned something new from the author about the world of insects.
Oh my, Riley and Cole meet again. I must say, he has some set of cojones to act like that. Big bully that needs his butt set straight. I enjoyed getting to read more of their story. Getting some more background into where Riley came from helped set the tone and the mood. Cole’s need for revenge is setting up some bad stuff down the pipeline and I can’t wait for book 3 to see what happens. This installment of the series will have you right on the edge because it is intriguing, exciting and drama filled. The elite 4 and their ”witches” create problems. The characters are so well done. If this were on TV, I’d be glued. I’m glad it’s not, the picture in my head is so much more. I couldn’t put it down. The nightmare Riley had gave me a nightmare, so I’ll give a trigger warning DV. But this a must read romance that will pull you in and not let you out. The story is believable and relatable. These characters could be kids from your town. The drama, well, let’s just say that we’ve all been there. A must read. Definitely a series on my Best for 2023.
