I like that the author has a few different cases being worked simultaneously but the way she writes never makes you feel lost. Any one of the books in the series can be read as a standalone, you don’t have to read them in chronological order to get any back story. This books deals with a divorce, someone sending poison pen letters to a senior living facility, and a father trying to find his daughter. The team has to split up so all the cases can be worked simultaneously and it will take some coordination and co-operation from each member to keep this well oiled machine running. Will the daughter be found safe? Will they catch the culprit behind the nasty letters and get to reveal his motive? How much more will the wife in the divorce be able to take before she throws in the towel? It is a historical fiction story with a very strong female lead in Emma, a brave and confident woman who works to solve different cases with help from her friends and family. This book is action packed with multiple cases happening at once, and it keeps you on your toes. It brings all of the emotions as you join Emma where the past meets the present and she works to solve crimes and save several kidnapped children. I had no problem following the story, even though I did not read the previous ones, however, I enjoyed it enough to make me want to go back and read all of them right away. I definitely would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good mystery/sleuth story.
4.5/5 Stars This book is so good! Lauren & Mitch pulled at my heart strings. It’s a redemption love story that hits all the feels. This is apart of a series, but just like the previous books, it makes a great stand alone too. It’s not confusing to jump into the series with this book. It would make a great TV drama too.

Brinley and Adrian are brilliantly written! Brinley is no stereotypical, weak female but Adrian is still the strong, male protector which I love! The thing about this book that captured my attention was the description of the student-teacher relationship. Cassandra has admired Chandler basically her whole life. She followed his acrobatic career in the circus. When she gets the chance to work with him as her mentor, she quickly begins absorbing information from his knowledge and experience. Chandler knew from his first glance at Cassandra that he wanted to be the one to show her the silks used in his circus act. Their feelings for each other quickly develop beyond a mere professional relationship. However, tension follows them as they both are keeping secrets from each other. I didn’t realize until the end of the story that this is actually the start of the series, but I feel like the story Ms. Snow penned wraps up the introduction to Cassandra and Chandler’s lives. It also left enough of a cliffhanger that I am excited to read the next book. There are some spicy bits, that enhance the story in my opinion.

This was a good 5 star read. Brinley had a good group of friends, when her family moved she tried to stay in touch with her friends. She has accomplished quite a bit, she is an olympian. When she is put in danger she decides to go home. When she meets Adrian there is an instant connection. Adrian had no plans for a relationship but something about Brinley calls to him. When her stalker comes to town things take a scary twist. Will Adrian be able to keep her safe? Will this bring them closer? I really enjoyed all of the characters, they added a great element to the story. The author pulled me in with her writing and I didn’t want to put it down. Holy wow. So, this is the first book I have read by the incredible Reggi Dupree, and I am so sad it took me six months to find this gem. This is by far one of my favorite books of the year. Gwendolyn Carter is the last member of her matriarchal bloodline. While that could be viewed as a good thing to some considering the stunning house and fortune to change her entire life, Gwen is not an average person. Forty-fifth birthday, the curse that had claimed the lives of every woman in her bloodline at a young age was rumored to end if you made it past your forty-fifth birthday alive. Only she is shot in the back and killed but she’s from Hoodoo, Texas and death isn’t one of those black and white finalities. Twenty-seven years ago, at the age of eighteen Gwen had been forced out of her hometown, accused of murdering one of her best friends. From start to finish this book keeps you on your toes and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this amazing series, Conjure Ink. Also, I am going to have to go back and read the novella Hoodoo Heaven, the prequel of Return to Hoodoo, when she meets Ash.

Love this prequel to the new series Hidden Valley Elite by Isla Vaughn. It introduces us to the two main characters Cole and Riley, who meet each other at a party. What they don’t realize at the time is that this meeting will affect their lives in many ways in the near future. This prequel is easy to read and sets the atmosphere for the series beginning. Riley is very independent and has grown up with a single mom and are both ready to be on the run at any given time. Cole is the high school jock that every girl seems to want to be with. Although Cole’s family is rich, their life is messed up in a different way. Where will their lives lead after their encounter?
Savage Lies: A Dark High School Bully Romance (Hidden Valley Elite Book 1)
For someone who usually gets annoyed with the dark agnsty books I was surprised by how into this book I got. I read the Prequel and knew I had to read this one as soon as I could. I couldn’t put it down and was more than happy to finish it when home sick.
Riley and Cole have incredibly strong feelings towards one another even if they are conflicted. Cole refuses to listen to reason when it come to Riley, but at the same time has a hard time staying away from her.
Definitely looking forward to the second part of their Duet for so many reasons, especially the answers to all of my questions.

The Crown Of Stones series has kept me on the edge of my seat for three books straight! This final installment did not disappoint at all! This book and series is written with such passion and grace! The world and the characters just jump off the page and you cannot help but feel for their lows and root for their highs! As a lover of Lord Of The Rings and The Witcher, this series was completely satisfying from the first page of the first book (The Crown Of Stones: Magic-Price) to the last page of the last book (The Crown Of Stones: Magic- Borne). I will truly miss reading about Ian Troy, Jarryd Kane, and Malaq and their adventures. I really hope Schneider will continue this series so this epic journey doesn’t have to end! I highly highly recommend The Crown of Stones series to anyone looking to take an epic journey of their own!

Not only was this a new genre to me, as in I’ve mainly read romance the past several years, but this was a new author to me as well and…A River of Crows is most definitely a five-star read!
I read the last 87% in 4 hours with a few interruptions.
We are taken between past and present decades revolving around the mysterious death of Sloane’s younger brother Ridge. We learn quite a bit about her father, brother, best/ex-boyfriend and a few other characters but also get a glimpse into the minds of two other characters when you least expect it.
There is such a depth to the writing that makes you feel like you are in the mind of the characters. The author weaves the story drawing you in in such a manner that you feel like you are right there beside the characters.
It was a novel filled with familial dysfunction, heartache, mental health struggles, loss, dare I say second chances and also hope.

How can you crave someone so deeply and loathe them at the same time? This is what Riley and Cole are trying to figure out as their battle of wits encounters many ups and downs for each.
I devoured the prequel, Savage Start, where we first met Riley, the quick thinker who has grown up helping her mom with numerous cons, and Cole, one of the ELITES of Hidden Valley. It isn’t a necessity to read the prequel, but I would highly suggest it as it’s an enjoyable read that made me see a softer side of Cole than the one we see now. It also lets you in on the backstory of why there is so much tension and heat between the two. This book alludes to it but doesn’t go into specifics.
Savage Lies picks up one year after the prequel (Savage Start) when Riley moves back to the town of Santa Monica that Cole lives in. Cole isn’t your typical good-looking jock though he pretends to be, all he is trying to do is take care of his brother and cousins while evading his father until he can escape to college next year, but Riley and her mom throw a wedge into his plans. It’s barely been a year since Cole’s mom passed away, now his father has already moved on, which upsets Damon (Cole’s brother) and Cole tremendously. The tension continues to build as Cole takes part of his frustration out on Riley, though she doesn’t back down, proving that he might just have met his match. Be aware, this book ends on a cliffhanger that has me counting the days until Savage Truth comes out on April 27th, 2023.

Schneider does an incredible job at showing the beauty and the ugliness in the world like both sides of a coin. She writes such an expertly detailed and genuine world that you’d think it was completely real! This book made me feel things! Troy’s suffering and anguish is vivid and emotional; it can be felt right down to the soul. His journey of rediscovering what happened is powerful! This series just keeps getting better and better! It truly is a must read for any epic fantasy lover! With twists and turns that will keep you flipping the pages and fast paced action that will have you on the edge of your seat! At first this book seemed a little intimidating and hard to follow but after just a few pages I fell right into Ian Troy’s legendary journey. It was completely addicting, each chapter compelling me to see what happens next! Wow! I absolutely loved it! C.L. Schneider creates a truly epic fantasy with breathtaking action and detail that makes you feel right in the moment! The imagery created with her phrases like “ outlined by the backdrop of chaos” really just stuck with me and all with a magic system that is artfully done! Riley and her mom were always supposed to be on the same page regarding their cons. Not this time! It was strange to Riley that they would move to a city that they had once lived in before. The one good thing about being back was, hopefully, she would be able to kiss the huck from the last time they lived here.
Cole was the leader of his high school. He, his younger brother, and his twin cousins were the Elite and untouchable, at least that is what Cole thought until she showed back up. She was his downfall, but he would make her life a living hell for what her mom did to his family.
This was a fantastic page-turner. Once I started, I could not put this book down. I did not read the prequel, but I will be backtracking just for curiosity. I found another amazing author to add to my must-read list!!

Good twisting and turning of all factors that include multiple tropes, a soulmate storyline, and a good world building that sets a tone. Living a tale between two worlds that leaves the reader envolver within the world. Overall a good read.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I have not read the prequel, but was able to get into this book easily. Cole and Riley have been pushed together by their parents, but they are far than friendly with each other. Cole wants to hurt his dad for what happened to his mom and won’t accept Raelyn as a replacement. This book was very interesting and kept me on my toes. Very good book. It ended on a cliff hanger so can’t wait to start the next book. Highly recommend this author!

WOW. I jumped straight to this book from the prequel, Savage Start, because I couldn’t get enough! This one gets a bit darker than the prequel so be warned. Riley comes from a family of people with constant ulterior motives, so she’s no stranger to blackmail. What surprises her is the attraction to Cole, one of the elite football stars in the Academy. It turns out that Cole may have some deep, dark secrets as well, and he’s trying to burn Riley before she can do the same to him. What he doesn’t know is how scrappy Riley is, so she’s not going down without the fight of their lives. Will their hate burn them to the ground, or will they cave into the lust they have for each other? All’s fair in love and war, right? I cannot wait for the next book because it can’t arrive soon enough. Isla Vaughn has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend picking this one up if you enjoy the angst, lust, bully romance genre!

This is the official start of the college bully romance. We come back a year after the prequel and are once again met with Cole, his brother Damon, their elite gang of friends and Riley and what is left of her family. Now, if you did not read the prequel that is okay but it truly does give the background on why Cole hates and wants to take Riley down bit by bit. Savage Lies is the full length book in Isla Vaughn’s Hidden Valley Elite series and being new to the whole bully to lover romance trope, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I read the prequel prior to Savage Lies and fell in love with Isla Vaughn’s writing style and was excited to see how a full length novel would progress. The storyline was dramatic with really complex characters and great character development, something I wasn’t really expecting but was so impressed with, despite a darker than anticipated nature. I was drawn into the storyline from the very first page and left hanging on every word by the end. I very much look forward to reading on in book two.

It can be very difficult to get into the start of a series with a prequel, especially if it is a short one. Isla Vaughn has proved she can do that and more by drawing you in with the first page and never letting you go! I had not read anything from this author before so I was surprised by how quickly I was knocked off my feet. One of our main characters, Riley, shows you that her life is unattractive in the least and is not one you’d be jealous of. But she is made as strong as they come in no way because of her mother. Our other main character, Cole, doesn’t seem to have a lot of financial stress in his life, but still finds himself wanting more. When these two meet, the mix-and-match chemistry is bound to explode, right? I have already picked up the next book in the series and will be watching for more from this author very closely!
Savage Start is Isla Vaughn’s prequel in the Hidden Valley Elite series. I’m sure the series would be read just fine without it but the book is incredibly short and was worth it to me to set the “scene.” Riley and Cole are likable characters and I really enjoyed that the female main character was the “trouble” while the male was the “elite rich kid”. The prequel kept my attention from the first to last page and left me craving more and ready to continue the series.
