This the second book in the Hidden Valley Elite series (it helps to read the prequel!) and what seems to be the end of the story of Cole & Riley. This third book kept my attention as the two teens begin to understand each other and start to work together. There are some steamy scenes, danger, and new experiences. Both Cole and Riley are great characters and it’s good to see them opening up and learning to trust each other. I enjoyed the series and would recommend it. It is a young adult novel but still kept my attention. Looking forward to finding more books by this author.

This was such a great start to a new series! I loved the small town of Fayette and all of the colorful people who live there. The author did a great job of drawing me into the story and describing the town and townsfolk. I loved how realistic the characters all were. Like they are people you could imagine in your everyday life. Naomi, her daughter Ella and their very helpful tea drinking neighbors Barbara and Ingrid, make up an amazing quartet of women that just works. This was a delightful cozy murder story, with plenty of heart and humor. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the town and I am hopeful for a bit of romance for Naomi in the coming novels.

Savage Truth by Isla Vaughn is the third book to the Hidden Valley Elite series. This book picks directly up where Savage Lies ends. Raelyn, Riley’s mom, is now involved with Cole’s dad and are all living under the same roof. The tension between Cole and Riley seems to heighten at every turn of the page and is dangerously close to reaching its peak. Will these two push each other to the very edge of their limits with their antics of blackmail or will they finally be able to realize that they are not the reason each others worlds have been turned upside down, and give into their deeply seeded feelings for one another? You’ll just have to read and find out!

4.5 stars I like that Amabel doesn’t just write one genre. I have not read many books by this author but what I have read I have liked. Last King is an engaging Romantasy (aka Romantic Fantasy) where Amabel pairs a strong romantic subplot with a Fantasy. I was excited to see what the Last King was all about. It is the first exciting FAE fantasy book in the Legacy of Riverfall series. Amabel has cleverly woven many delicate threads to give us the readers a tale with lots of action and drama, epic danger and suffering, secrets and lies and so much more. There is a cast of many in this magical world where there is fae, kings, dragons, lethal predators, monsters, a thief, mystical disease and magic. This Romantasy is a slow burn in the romance department when everything else is chaos. I can see it will be so easy to become addicted to this series. The vivid storyline is unique and interesting keeps the pages turning. Maren has been underestimated and shoved aside all her life she has only ever wanted to go wherever and do whatever she wants but she is stuck. When a stranger offers to help her with the one thing that may save her sister, she decides to take him up on his offer no matter what dangers and monsters are lurking. You are going to enjoy this book. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Foxy Tails is a MM/Fantasy/ Romance that once you start reading its hard to put down. This authors style of writing and attention to detail along with her creative characters make for one heck of a epic ride. These characters pull you into their world and makes it feel like you are apart of the story. I found myself going through different emotions with this one. Get ready to be taken on quite the adventure full of drama, danger, romance and magic. This is a story about a Fox, a Healer and a Warrior and their journey. I don’t want to give to much away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. You won’t be disappointed. I look forward to seeing what this author brings us next.

3.5 Stars Foxy Tails is an original MM fantasy romance tale with a cast of colourful characters. There are demons, foxes, healers, magic, murder and vengeance just to keep things interesting. Huli has had a hard and pain filled life and is being hunted. He meets up with Xiao who is seeking vengeance against his family. Together with his best friend and one very funny dog a man’s best friend Ye Ying they set off on a quest to reveal truths. It is filled with loss and hope, magic and danger, suspense and tension, humour and action within a world where nothing is what it seems. I do feel a bit gipped in the romance department though I thought the romance was slowly building toward something explosive, but I was wrong. Foxy Tails actually feels like it is more aimed at a younger audience. I am wondering if this is a standalone or the first book in a new series. It kind of felt unfinished.

Wow, this book has nearly left me speechless. This gripped me literally from the start. This book was captivating in a way i haven’t experienced in a while and thank goodness because i was desperately in need of a GOOD book. This is a story about lies, betrayal, secrets on secrets, and i was on the edge of my seat nearly the entire time. My heart hurt for Sloan and all she endured as a child, from losing her brother at her dad’s hands to trying to care for her mentally ill mother, keep the house in check and essentially being alone in it all. This story had twists i never anticipated and that was my favorite part. My jaw was on the floor at some parts and i ate this up!!! I was not sure how to take some of the relationships in this book, as i did not know who to trust fully because i could feel something was off but the twist was NOT what i thought which just made it that much better. I absolutely recommend this book if you are looking for a thriller that is well-written, twisty, and sucks you in from the first page.

This is book 2 in this series but you don’t need to read book 1 to follow, although why you wouldn’t read book 1 is beyond me but you’ll figure that out after you read this one! Sera is a desk jockey who’s uncle has gone missing and she is going to find him. To do that she needs Markus. Markus didn’t think he wanted anything to do with leaving his home on the pleasure planet until our spitfire heroine walks in and up he goes. They back and forth between these two is awesome. The world being built by the author is tremendous and book 3 looks to be just as engaging as the first two!

This is the second book in the Space Force Rejects series which I didn’t realise when I first selected it but that didn’t matter as it can be read as a standalone. I admit that sometimes I find sci-fi romance books hard to follow, but it’s authors like this one who create great and entertaining chemistry between characters that draw me in instantly. I fell in love with Sera and Markus, and although there are times I want to knock their heads together, their personalities win me over. The determination Sera shows in the search for her uncle is admirable given she’s basically been thrown in the deep end and I really love her for it. But the thing that captured most of my attention was the world-building. It cannot be easy to come up with alien species and describing new civilisations and so on, but it was done so well here it seems so natural. It’s a talent I am in awe of. I’ll be going back to read the first book next, and hope that a third is in the works!

This is an author that I have become increasingly familiar with and each and every book is different. This book is not at all what I expected from this author but I really enjoyed it. It was well written and has some honestly amazing characters. I was hooked as soon as I started reading this book and wanted to see how things would work out. Sera Kain is a young woman who works for the Space Force in an administrative position and she retains knowledge and facts like others do faces and names, but when she finds out that her uncle is missing, she is determined to use all of the knowledge available at her fingertips to find him. Markus Engle is trying to leave his life in the Space Force behind him and was doing very well doing just that on Kafgar, the planet where pleasure is the first port of call, however, when Sera walks into his office and disturbs his afternoon, something which he hoped would never happen does.
Sera has no idea what she has just walked into, apart from that she is interrupting something, so as soon as she knows that she has found the pilot she needs, she leaves until a more convenient time to propose a mission to which he is the key, but Markus has a problem, thanks to some past genetic engineering, he finds that he can’t refuse Sera anything, but he intends to keep the reason why to himself. As Sera outlines her plans and makes sure that it is clear to Markus that he is going to be flying them to the prison planet of Earth, once the heart of the human empire so that she can rescue two inmates who will lead her to her uncle.
As they approach the planet, things start to go awry, but it isn’t until they land, are ambushed and their ship stolen that Sera realises that she may have bitten off more than she can chew and her lack of experience is showing, but she is still determined to find a way off the planet and to her uncle. Along with finding a way off of the planet, Markus and Sera will have to find a way to avoid the rest of the inmates living there, so she attempts to create alliances with some of the humanoid creatures there, but she is also trying to fight the attraction she feels towards Markus, it turns out that he is doing the same. Will these two fated mates be able to embrace their attraction to each other, leave Earth and find Sera’s uncle, or will the inmates, or wildlife get to them first? In this fast paced sci-fi romance, danger lies around every turn and not just the physical kind as this unlikely pair face adversity in order to discover their strengths in this enticing story.
How to Make a Flying Carpet (Alex the Inventor) by Lois Wickstrom is a story about a young inventor who doesn’t like for anything to go to waste. When the refrigerator magnets break Alex uses her imagination to figure out how to turn it into something else. This is another fun book with gorgeous illustrations for young children to enjoy. It teaches children to use their imagination. It also teaches how fun it is to turn something old into something new. Such a great story.

Operation Escape is the second book in the Space Force Rejects series by Landra Graf. When Sera Kain goes to Markus Engle to help find her uncle, he is unable to refuse her. This is a sci-fi, fated lovers book and it had me hooked from the start. There is plenty of testing of loyalty, adventure, and twists and turns. I love when the heroine is the awkward party and Sera was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed watching Sera and Markus try to navigate their feelings for each other. Operation Escape is Book Two in the Space Force Rejects series. The characters intertwine with the first book in the series but could be possibly read as a standalone. This book is told in two different perspectives and elaborates on the world of the Space Force. This book tells the story of Sera, who is the daughter of the head of the space force. Considered to be a failure by him due to her small size she was ordered to be terminated. Thankfully, Sera was rescued by her Uncle Garsett who then raised her and helped her to believe in herself.
Uncle Garsett has been missing for three months and Sera needs to find him and rescue him. She trusts few people, other than pilot Markus Engle who used to be Captain in the Space Force Special Ops. Sera’s uncle told her repeatedly that she could trust Markus and that if she ever needed help that he would be the one to ask. Markus has no choice but to help Sera because physical pain will be inflicted on him if he does not help. Sera asks Markus to fly her to Earth where all Space Force prisoners are forced to serve their sentence. The last person to see her uncle was an ex-commando who is on Earth and Sera wants to talk to him.
Sera and Markus are at odds through the mission and fight constantly, yet Sera feels attracted to Markus. When their ship is stolen, and Sera and Markus are left stranded their mission comes to a grinding halt. They are stranded on Earth with no protection against animals and violent criminals. When they receive an offer of help, they have to choose whether or not to accept it. If they do not accept the help they will not survive.
This book was a wonderfully written sci-fi adventure with action, adventure, mystery, drama, intrigue, suspense, and a bit of romance. The characters were intriguing, especially Sera who seemed to be a bit of an unlikely heroine because she was naïve and inexperienced as far as rescue missions go. Things got heated between her and Markus as they fought about the mission yet there seemed to be an underlying attraction. Markus feels the desire to protect Sera even if it means risking his life to do so. Another great book in this series by this talented author.

Other People’s Money is the seventh book in The Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. Although this is the seventh book in the series it can be read as a stand-alone book. Madeline and her team receive a couple of cases that need solving immediately. A missing bookkeeper and checking out a gold-digging, much younger fiance. This was my first book from this story and I really enjoyed it. The characters are well-written and the plot is well-developed. I enjoyed the character interactions and the mystery was great.

Wow! There’s got to be a better word but I can’t figure it out right now but WOW! I picked this book up based off the cover and synopsis alone. And what I got was not what I expected. AT. ALL. This is by far the BEST book I’ve read all year. Let me preface this by saying I am not a flashback and forth in time fan, but this was done so seamlessly and it just got the story that I am happy it was done this way. I could relate to the characters, to some of the things happening but what got me the most was the visuals and the feelings that I was learning and living all of this as Sloan our main character was. Usually I can have a hunch or figure out fairly quickly who did what or why or how but this one, oh no. This one had me gasp so loud I scared my dog and then I had to read it again to be sure my eyes were functioning. If you are a fan of crime or thriller reads, you need to run and get this book. You won’t be disappointed I swear. I will now be adding this author to my list of must reads if this book is anything to go off of.

This was an interesting fantasy adventure with a MM Romance. The author does an amazing job with the characters and the influence of Chinese cultures and myths. This is what really brought this story to life for me all the little details that author put into the story. In this book we meet Huli who is a nine tailed fox and Xiao who is a healer.
Huli has spent his whole life running away from danger and trying to save himself as everyone thinks he is a demon. He lives a very lonely and dangerous life. Xiao has also known pain after having to deal with the grief of losing all his family. Both of them do what they need to to be able to survive and neither of them expect to find companionship until they meet each other. What happens next is a story about learning to trust and letting someone into your life. Together they set out on the path to find what and who is responsible for the death of Xiao’s family but will they like what they find or are some secrets better left unknown. This is an action packed fantasy adventure. There is a little romance involved in the story but it is very subtle and enhances the connection between Xiao and Huli without it taking over the story.
Get ready to jump inside this fantasy world and go on an adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This is an exciting read for new adults with a mind for fantasy. Amy’s life started out with her first unwanted killing. But she had no choice in the matter. She leaves what was left and moved into the human world. But even that is unsafe for Amy. She must build her own army of trusted shifters to hopefully beat the evil headed her way. This story was very different for me. Don’t take me wrong. I enjoyed the story, it was just too many fantasy shifters for me. This is an author I had not read from before. That is why I chose this book. The characters were well liked and knew their place in the story. The book was well thought out, well written and easy to keep up with. If you enjoy fantasy stories this book is for you!

I’ve read one of the author’s previous works and definitely wanted to check out this new one and so glad that I did. Húlí, a nine tailed fox, has known rejection and isolation all his life and fights against demons like himself. As he is escaping some hounds, he ends up at a chance meeting with Xiao and things change after that. Their connection is amazing on how sometimes in life we may face rejection or the sheer devoid of wanting to connect but sometimes we do end up meeting a special someone who will change how we view the world and how it affects us. Along their adventure together, they end up meeting others that join along in their efforts and make for such an enjoyable read!

A fated mates sci fi fantasy This is book 2 of the Space Force Rejects series and it continues the adventure from book 1. With fated mates, tension, mystery and an interstellar adventure this is an action packed book that had me engrossed til the end. I was hoping for a continuation of Dravos and Ravena’s story from book 1 but what I got was much more. This book follows Sera and Markus as they battle their way to freedom. Looking forward to book 3.

This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up by her. Her books are inviting, interesting and engaging. Some take you on an emotional ride and others like this one will take you on an adventure. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. I enjoyed how the author used her writing skills and attention to details to not only give life to the story but also make it come to life. This is a fast paced fantasy story that is hard to put down and engaging. The characters pull you into their world from the start. They take you on an adventure of romance, danger, and magical. What fate has instored for these two characters you don’t want to miss. It will surprise you in parts and other emotions in other parts. I really enjoyed reading this book and watching the growth of the characters as well as the plot. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Engaging paranormal read This book had me captivated from page one. Loved the detail and mix of humour, suspense and romance. Told from multiple POV (which I love), the story just goes from strength to strength. With an original storyline this book will appeal to fantasy, paranormal and romance lovers alike. Highly recommend.

This book is book two of the series. Definitely should be read after the prequel and book one. This is the conclusion to Cole and Riley’s story.
Cole and Riley have a complicated relationship. Riley is still trying to end things between Lucas and her mom. She doesn’t trust that this is a real chance for them. Cole still has his anger toward Riley in regards to what happened to his mom. When it really matters though, Cole is able to set it all aside when Riley needs him.
Riley and Cole are great characters. Riley learns to trust someone other than her mom and her uncle by the end. She’s also very strong and you see her use the skills she’s learned from her uncle when she really needs to. This was a good conclusion to Riley and Cole’s story. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series goes.

This is a fun quick read, a paranormal steampunk that clearly draws on Dracula with strong female characters. The world-building is quite something in terms of its depth of research and lush descriptions. Although it has its unrealistic moments, it’s undoubtedly a page-turner that makes me want to forgive the author anyway. And I do love anything set in Paris, and in the Underground and with a period setting? Sign me up (hello, Les Mis). The characters too are compelling and completely inhabit the world. This novel was full of surprises that kept me going. Highly recommend.

Healing Kiss is a suspenseful Paranormal Romance about love and loss and is packed with drama, danger, suspense and maybe even a little humor. This is a new author to me and I’m definitely intrigued by her style of writing and attention to detail along with her creative characters make for a wonderful story. Lillian is a a nurse who has a secret gift of healing the sock by taking energy from the healthy. She’s being chased by a group called Kinetica they want to use her for their own gain. Lillian will stop at nothing to save her ill sister. Tristan is a man who is after one thing and he will stop at nothing to discover her secrets. I truly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend reading to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

5 Stars What Loretta’s Katydid Did (Loretta’s Insects) by Lois Wickstrom
What Loretta’s Katydid Did is a fun children’s book about Loretta a young girl who loves nature. This story teaches us about science and different insects and how not all Insects are bad. Loretta’s grandma comes for a visit and brings her an orange tree. Loretta notices aphids and doesn’t want to kill the insect but she wants to keep her tree healthy to. Loretta leaves them and watches as another Insect comes along, a katydid. I love how this author creates just vivid stories. My five year old son was inspecting all of our trees for different insects as we walked around our yard. I love how we even as adults learn something from her books as well. This is geared towards 4-8 year olds but id say older may enjoy as well. We look forward to reading more from this Author and can’t wait to see what Loretta is up to next.
