I’ve always liked retellings of fairy. This book is a take on Jack and the Beanstalk. Jacqueline and her mother need money for food and they don’t want to eat their cow. Jacqueline takes Bessie to the market to sell. On her way there , she meets a man who gives her magical beans in exchange for the cow. Her mother is not happy with the exchange and throws the beans out the window. The next day the beanstalk has grown tall into the sky. What happens next is an adventure and learning experience for Jacqueline. Read the book to find out what happens. The story itself and the illustrations will keep the children entertained.
