Book three of The Bennetts of Langdon Falls is focused on Hank the musical brother and Ella Mae. The author does a great job of sharing the characters thoughts and insecurities as Hank takes on the music scene on Nashville. Ella Mae convinces Hank on tagging along as Ella Mae’s brother travels to promote his music. The music and experiences Hank has makes him wonder if he’s really meant to sing. The musical aspect of this book really spoke to me. Music is life and this book captured my emotions.

The Wandering Isles: A Crown of Stones (Soulbound Journeys Book 1) is a novella that takes place after The Crown of Stones series. Though this can easily be read as a standalone book, I’d highly recommend reading the previous series to get to know the characters’ history more in depth and just because it’s an interesting dark fantasy read. Both that series and this book are full of action-packed adventure, magical aspects, intrigue, splendid characters, and descriptive writing that will have you envisioning everything the characters face. The first person point of view lets us also see what both Ian and Troy think of everything they are enduring.
This novella takes us on another adventure with Ian Troy and his friend, Jarryd Kane, whom we met in The Crown of Stones series. Ian, a born soldier, has never known himself as anything else, but now that Mirra’Kelen has found peace, he has set out to explore his freedom and to see who he might actually be at his core. It’s on this voyage that he and Jarryd find themselves embroiled in new situations they never saw coming. Can a man that has experienced so much war ever find peace? Will he ever truly be able to let go of being a soldier and all the things he has seen and done? C.L. Schneider has written yet another interesting fantasy that will leave you wanting more.

I was so excited to read this one. I loved the “A Crown of Stones” series. I hated when it ended. Felt like I was apart of Ian’s world. So happy I still get to indulge in it. This one was definitely interesting. As Ian and Jarryd faced the newest “evil” I also faced a fear. Was this novella going to end with us thinking that everything that had happened was merely their brains trying to cope with being captured? I finished this book in a few hours because I simply needed answers lol. The way the characters and I questioned reality was parallel. Every moment was a wait no this can’t be. There’s no way this is what’s happening. Needless to say I was not disappointed. I could feel all of the characters emotions. I cried when they cried. I was angry when they were angry and I had a sense of understanding by the time the book was over. It was very well written. And although it’s a work of fiction, some life lessons can be learned from it. Thank you for a bother great book. I’ve read every single book you’ve written thus far and I’ve loved every single one of them.

Another great book by this author. Although it can be read before the trilogy, it is much easier to follow and know the characters of read first. With that being said, I love following Ian and Jarryd on more adventures and this book did not disappoint. This was unique in that their stories were connected but not. I liked the back and forth between Ian’s world and Jarryd’s as they came to figure out what was happening. This is another mystery fantasy that will make you not want to put it down.

I (and the children I shared this book with) loved the different font choices for the pigs’ names and vocabulary or cool words (lurking, overlapped) as well as the traditional story words (huff, puff, etc.).
Science concepts such as mica rock, grinding flour are also introduced. As an adult, I loved the twist ending, and it would be perfect for parents/educators/teachers that are doing compare/contrast between versions of the book- reminds me of The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs, but yet another refreshing ending.
This book reminded me of Freedom Writer’s Diary, yet author Nancy Sullivan dives deeper in to each boy’s (inmates) backgrounds and stories of why they landed in the detention center/prison. The writing was powerful and very moving, and realistic, edge-of-your-set type of writing.
Not these easiest subject matter (especially the preface), yet enjoyable novel, and makes you think (at least it made me think, being an educator) how society fails these teenagers (among countless others) and what the “best” way is to rehabilitate them to lead “normal” lives.

What a beautifully haunting dark fantasy novella! C.L. Schneider knows exactly how to captivate readers with her intricately woven storytelling and entrancing dialogue. She beyond creates a truly unique world that is so magical and unexpected, but also relatable! I could not put this novella down for one minute. I hope Ian Troy and Jarryd Kane’s story never ends. If you have not already I highly recommend dipping your toe into C.L. Schneider’s wonderful Crown Of Stones series! I promise you will not be disappointed!

I couldn’t wait to read Damon’s story and what a ride this first part was! We met Skylar in Cole and Riley’s books but now we get to know her and how she finds herself in the crosshairs of Damon.
I have to say while Damon is a bit of a jerk in the other books, which I understand, he’s a softy underneath and guards himself. While I don’t agree with the deal he and Skylar have made behind her friends back, as all secrets come to light sooner or later whether you have control over it or not.
This cliffhanger was not what I was expecting at all and I can’t wait to dive into the next one and im sure it’ll be pretty explosive with how this ended.

I normally don’t read dystopian novels, but the cover drew me in and I wasn’t disappointed. Some of the story is a little dark, given the genre, and I felt the beginning was a little disjointed until I figured out the separate yet intertwined story lines of Mouse, her brother Meph, and their friend.
Having the brother having to choose between different family members was a clever plot twist (and I am not giving it away because it is in the blurb), and Lori Nelson does a fantastic job capturing Meth’s feelings and struggles. This was my first Lori Nelson book and I look forward to see what kinds of atmosphere or worlds she has in her other books, because this one book had a well written plot.

Intrigued by this stunning and different cover of the book I jumped on board to see what this author had in store and I can say I really loved this book. I do enjoy dystopian sci fi stories and this book did not disappoint. Murder, intrigue, suspense, crime and family…..this set the tone and I was all in.
When Mouse witnesses a member of her own family murder someone else…..and leads to a chain of events of kidnapping and hard decisions. Will Mouse be saved and will Meph, whom is Mouse’s brother make the right decision on who he can save before it is to late?
I am looking forward to more from this author….this was a great read and hard to put down. I loved the characters, the brother/sister relationship of Meph and Mouse and I really loved Gossip.

Trapping the Butterfly is the first book in the Butterflies Fly Free series. Set in the 1920s, we meet Bethany, who lives with her domineering Aunt and Uncle. When they decide to go to Hot Springs, Arkansas, for her Aunt’s health, Bethany’s life changes unexpectantly. The story is a fast read but draws readers into the Roaring 20s with music, dancing, and gangsters. I enjoyed watching Bethany grow into her own woman. The story not only captures a historical period but also a young woman embracing and learning about the dangers of the world she lives in. The story and characters were interesting and kept my attention. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Editor Kill Fee by G. G. Collins pulls us back into the world of the (accidental) sleuth Taylor Browning. This is such a fun and quick read full of interesting characters, laughs, and mysteries.
The plot and main characters (the cats) will make you want to smile, scream, and not stop reading this cozy mystery that will make you want to grab a blanket and snuggle your cat.

This was my first book I read by this author and I was not disappointed at all. The book started out slow but eventually picks back up. The world building and characters was greatly thought out. This book was a page turner for me. It had me on the edge of me seat, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I absolutely love the writing style of this author. I can’t wait to read more of their books.

This is the third book in the series by KG Fletcher and I was absolutely blown away! The first two books are amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading them and was super excited for this book to come out! Her books are written so well it is almost as if I am in the story as well! I read this in a couple hours as I needed to know what was going to happen. If you have not read these books, that needs to change as this has quickly become one of my favorites!

I loved the ‘Crown of Stones’ Trilogy so when I found out about this spin-off novella, I was instantly intrigued. This author has a talent for words. Descriptions of both scenery and characters are always very vivid making it very easy to immerse yourself into the world.
After the events of the Crown of Stones books, Ian Troy decides to sail to the Wandering Isles with Jarryd. They are met with voices and fog. The Islanders are attached to the island itself and have magical powers. They put the duo through a series of what if events making the men take a different look at their lives.
Ian went through some scenes of what if his villainous father wasn’t dead, what the future could be, and things in the past that are best forgotten.
Meanwhile Jarryds scenarios seem to be surrounding his time in prison. Mostly being stuck there forever, never getting out with Ian.
Will the men be able to leave the island or are they forever stuck in this fake world made by the Islanders?
Once again the author did an amazing job. I love this world and was happy to find out it wasn’t done after the trilogy ended.

The Wandering Isles by C.L. Schneider was a great addition to the Crown of Stones series. This book was centered around one specific event that involved the main character of the series so it was a shorter dark fantasy story than all the others on the series but it didn’t lack the weight of all the others. I enjoyed it.

As a big fan of true crime to begin with, I was hooked from the foreward.
Toby did some wonderful things from inside the jail walls. Things that changed the jail systems she was in. The way she talks about how she got through her sentencing and used that time to heal herself is exactly what one hopes when they know someone that is serving time.
Between the moves and the friendships forged in prison, Toby came to terms with many things in her life, some that she has known and others she hadn’t realized prior to her time behind bars. She continues to grow as a person outside and acknowledge her past.
One of the main lessons this book is the way it shows that a person is not just the sum of their mistakes but so much more. That there may be deep-seated things going on at the core of the “good person” and that everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. There is always room for growth in people, and they should not be defined by their greatest mistakes.

The author writes stories with lessons to be learned in amusing ways which will capture a child’s imagination.

Seen is a dystopian science fiction adventure. The viewpoint changes between Mouse and her brother Meph. Mouse wants to become a news article writer when she graduates high school in a few short months. I really wanted to enjoy this book but unfortunately for me, Seen did not meet my expectations. I struggled to picture Mouse and Mephs’ world and their motivation. They both read like overprivileged teenagers that want to have their own lives separate from their fathers. Not to say that their reasoning is unjustified due to the fathers’ outlandish behavior and the ending of this story. I also felt like there were too many subplots with Meph that took away the focus from Mouse. This book seems to be made for young adults, but I would recommend adults due to the sensitive topics that are in this book like murder, violence, gore, and attempted rape.

I highly recommend Obedience by Liza Snow! This book is X rated and only for adults. I absolutely loved all the characters and dynamics of the story. Even though the focus is the forbidden romance blossoming between Cassandra and Chandler the twists and turns and plot of the story were extremely refreshing. The main storyline is about Cassandra following her dream of being a silk aerialist for Cirque du Lys. She finally gets to train under her idol and mentor, Chandler. Chandler is her professor and mentor and should not blur the boundary between them. The book switches the viewpoint between Cassandra and Chandler perfectly. The passionate, steamy scenes in the book feel natural and I loved the BDSM aspects such as bondage. Get ready for an entertaining show at the circus!

It is always hard to say goodbye to your favorite characters, I was excited to find another tale of their adventures awaits. The Wandering Isles is a novella from after the A Crown of Stones trilogy was completed. I highly recommend reading the series before the novella otherwise there are major spoilers ahead for you! Ian Troy has set sail with Jarryd Kane to find adventure on the open seas. Unfortunately for them, their past still comes back to haunt them on the Wandering Isles as they struggle to determine reality. I highly enjoyed this extra tale of Ian Troy’s adventures due to Schneiders’ excellent use of storytelling and details. I look forward to enjoying more tales from Schneider!

Seen is a dystopian sci-fi thriller that centers around the character of Mouse, a soon-to-be sixteen-year-old girl. The story is crafted beautifully with a storyline that keeps you hooked, and scenes written so vividly that you are completely immersed into the story with the characters. The characters are well written, engaging, and lovable. Throughout the story we see them grow as they are put through one excruciating test after another that will test their strength and courage. Mouse is the one I instantly felt an emotional connection to with all the heartache, stress, and turmoil that comes at her. She is ambitious, smart, determined, hardworking, and courageous. In her quest to become a hard-hitting journalist she takes to the streets with her drone seeking a newsworthy story. What she stumbles onto changes her life and puts her in a position that could destroy her family. Things become intense and take a sinister turn when Mouse is kidnapped and one of her family members might be responsible. The author takes us on a gripping, edge-of-your-seat, intense ride as Mouse learns horrifying things about her family that put her own life in danger. This book had action, suspense, danger, murder, violence, mystery, secrets, lies, and betrayal. I highly recommend Seen!

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. This heartwarming, slow burn romance definitely took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. Luciana has been in love with her best friend, Angelo Mancini her whole life, but she’s never told him, what she did do, is ask him to take her virginity one drunken night whilst they were in college. He refused and it left Lucia feeling embarrassed and rejected. Years later and with her life falling apart, she turns to the one person she trusts, but is unsure of Angelo’s reaction to her being pregnant by the guy he warned her to stay away from! However, Angelo invites her to stay with him and the more time they spend together she wonders if he sees her as more than just his best friend, especially when he’s up on stage playing his guitar and singing a song he wrote for her. Lucia is very aware that she’s carrying another man’s baby, and although she hopes there could be something more between her and Angelo she doesn’t want either of them to end up with broken hearts, or ruin their friendship. I felt fully immersed in the storyline, as the descriptive narrative brought both the setting and the characters to life. I loved the relationship between Lucia and Angelo, and seeing how it changed and developed throughout the story. Their chemistry really came across and led to some rather steamy scenes. I’m keen to read the first two books in this series now.

The Messy Kids is a whimsical and entertaining read with colorful illustrations that will surely engage children (of all ages). The story centers around Chester whose mom has asked him to clean his room, but he decides that he wants to go outside and clean the sandbox instead. While in the sandbox Chester meets a small group of aliens known as the messy kids. Instead of cleaning the sandbox they just make a bigger mess. When Chester goes inside to clean his room the messy kids help him by pushing all his toys under the bed. This does not make Chester’s mom very happy, and she tells him that he must clean it again and to show the messy kids how to clean it properly. An engaging read that will surely have you giggling over the antics of the messy kids. It teaches children how to lead by example and how rewarding it can be when they clean their room properly.

This is yet another fun and entertaining book that the whole family can really enjoy together. Our entire household has become such a huge fan of this author and we are yet to come across a book we don’t enjoy. I loved this one so much. I loved how it teaches kids to use their imagination. My daughter really enjoyed this book too. This is the first book by this author that she has tried to read herself, and not just listen to me read it for her. These books are great for those who are learning to read as they are short and punchy stories. I am already looking forward to the next book and having it read to me!
The Synchronicity of Love: That Heal, Transform and Awaken is the first book that I have read by this Author. This is not usually my cup of tea but I have read the blurb and I knew I had to read this book, and let me tell you i was not disappointed. This Author takes you through a journey about Love, healing, struggles and all that you embrace. I loved reading this Authors point of view on his struggles and journeys i felt this read was very insightful. If you like reading Memoirs I highly suggest this book to you. I would like to say thank you for writing this book i appreciate you and look forward to reading more of your work.

Hudson is always helping his family until one day he just wants to be left alone. Cute book with Hudson needing to take time for himself and while he spends most of his time helping others, he finds that his family is there for him when he needs it. I think children will enjoy this one quite a bit, great illustrations.

I wasn’t expecting to find this novella which continues the Crown of Stones series, so it was a nice surprise. Although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the Crown of Stone series first to truly grasp the undertones and background.
Once again, the way the author describes the world creates such a vivid picture you can also step into it yourself.
The characters continue their personal growth and its great to see how the relationship between them develops.
I really enjoyed reading this after recently reading the entire Crown of Stones series, it was great to jump back into the world and I hope for more.

Secrets of the Sorcery War is the second book in the Ruarnon Trilogy. It’s definitely a series to read in order, so if you haven’t already I’d recommend starting with Manipulator’s War which is another great book.
This is an epic fantasy series with teenage characters, suitable for YA readers and beyond. It’s set in a vibrant and diverse fantasy world with some characters who have come from our world. In Secrets of the Sorcery War there are plenty of new settings to discover alongside Ruarnon and their friends!
I was initially drawn to this series by the nonbinary main character. It’s so great coming across well-written nonbinary characters in genres I enjoy like fantasy! And more broadly it’s a great tool for teaching people how to use they/them pronouns.
As Ruarnon develops as a leader, their understanding and skills at diplomacy grow. This is fun to read, as they keep being thrown into Situations and having to figure out how to respond. They’re also aware of their own limitations and shortcomings and open to asking for help or information that they need.
This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of fantasy worlds such as Narnia and Tortall looking for a great modern series to get stuck into!
