I was hooked from page one by this fast paced crime thriller and the storyline kept me gripped throughout. Detective James Sheldon’s perfect life was shattered in an instant, leading to him being homeless and begging for loose change whilst contemplating suicide just eighteen months later. Then in a strange twist of fate James then wins big on the lottery, a record breaking 168 million, which is literally life changing for him. However, what should have been a dream come true becomes a nightmare when he finds himself mixed up with drug dealers and crime bosses who are out to destroy him. James also has to tackle his own personal demons which particularly plague him at night. As the blurb says, this is not your usual crime novel plot, and the storyline is totally unpredictable with plenty of twists and turns. The descriptive narrative made both the characters and the setting come vividly to life, and I found James an engaging main character. This was an action packed story and one which I recommend.
