I haven’t read a mystery in quite a while but the blurb for this grabbed my attention and I have to say it did not disappoint for even a second! I loved everything about it but especially the wonderful characters, Maeve, Will and all her family. Each and every character was so well written you can’t help but fall for them all and everything that they bring to this creative storyline. This is a new author for me and she now has a devoted fan in me for sure. I can’t wait for more!!

Wow this was an amazing read. I loved every minute of it. The author’s writing was captivating and I was pulled into the book right from the beginning. This story is fast paced with a tyrant Emperor, his son trying to save his people by overthrowing him and a woman who was supposed to just aid him but who ends up turning his world upside down.
When Cahki was kidnapped to become part of the Emperor’s harem it was a decision that would end up haunting the Emperor for ever. When the Emperor’s son Sung-jin finds her after she escapes her captors he comes up with a play to protect her while also having a spy on his father. All he has to do is marry her. But with the hatred and contempt Cahki has towards him he is risking his own life by treating her. The only way Cahki know she can survive is to work with the prince and be a pawn to help him take down his dad. But what happens when the fake marriage becomes something more. What happens when the fake feelings become real?
This story had my on the edge of my seat as together they have to work hard to find a way to outsmart the Emperor. I love Cahki’s character. She is such a strong and determined woman. She is fiercely independent and will think nothing of resorting to violence to protect herself and the people she cares about. As their story progresses it is lovely to see her vulnerable side come out and the transformation is beautiful. There were parts of this story where my heart was in my throat and my heart went out to them for the dangerous situations they find themselves in. But their strength and determination was so amazing to read. I honestly couldn’t put this story down, I needed to know what was going to happen but at the same time I didn’t want it to end.

Murder at the Wedding is Book One in the Modern Midwife Mysteries series. It is a cozy mystery with suspense, action, intrigue, drama, crime, and murder. The story centers around the character of Maeve who lives in the quaint little town of Langford located by the seaside in New England. Maeve works at the Creighton Memorial hospital as a midwife. When she is invited to a ritzy wedding at the Country Club for the daughter of the Chief Obstetrician at the hospital, she certainly is not expecting for him to suddenly drop dead during the reception. Maeve’s husband catered the event so now he is the prime suspect in the death of the man. Maeve enlists the help of her mother and sister to try to find the real killer and clear her husband’s name.
This book had an intriguing storyline and interesting cast of characters. Maeve was smart, witty, kind, caring, nurturing, and feisty. I loved that she was a midwife as this is something that I had not read before as an occupation for female MC’s. It was interesting to read the inner workings of being a midwife and what it entailed. Maeve was unable to have children of her own so bringing babies into the world for other women brought her immense joy. At times though, it could be difficult for her and emotionally exhausting. Maeve’s husband Will was sweet, kind, caring, understanding, and one heck of a good cook. He loved his work as a caterer and took great pride in the food he prepared for each event. Maeve and Will had a great marriage and were there for each other through even the most difficult times. I really enjoyed the witty banter between Maeve and the other characters and cracked up a few times at the clever things she would say. I highly recommend this book!

Sins of the Father is the 3rd book in the McIntire County Series. This installment follows new deputy Jolie Murdoch. For Jolie, law enforcement runs in her veins. Her father was the previous sheriff and her cousins are Nic and Cassy from the previous books. New on the force, Jolie is assigned the case of a missing girl, but then the girl’s father is found dead. Now she is tasked with not only finding the girl, if she is still alive, but finding the murderer of the father as well. Are they connected, and if so how? Who is to blame in one, or both, of the cases? Xavier came to town to escape his past, but when he is found over the dead body, he is suspect number one. It doesn’t help that he has no memory of how he got there, or what led up to that point. Sins of the father is told from different character POV so you get “inside the heads” of each one, and can really relate to them in some aspects. I love the McIntire series and can’t wait to read the next one. 5 out of 5 for me.

This is an amazing book. Cahki starts out being kidnapped and sent to another Empire to marry Prince Sung-Jin. Oh, from there the adventures begin as they try to save the empire. I found this book to be fast-paced and action-packed. I have enjoyed everything this author has previously written. This type of book is new and I loved the pace of the story along with the characters. They are feisty and determined to save the kingdom. It’s a wonderful read that I would recommend to anyone.

Reading the trigger warning on What We Never Say is a must, as it heavily speaks about sexual abuse of the male main character. It sheds light on some of the feelings both the victim as well as others who know about the assault. This type of book is definitely needed in the world as some if its topics are viewed as ‘taboo’ and many public settings (including book writing) shy away from hitting the problem head on. I loved that Paulette Stout including the relationship aspect with the abused moving on from the traumatic event with a new love. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but the beginning was one of the hardest parts to read. It is certainly an attention grabber and will suck you into the story.

I first encountered the main character as a supporting character in a previous book in this series. I enjoyed learning more about her. It was also nice to revisit the small town in which this series is set. What I liked most about the main character is that she doesn’t have it all together. She doesn’t have it all figured out, and she is a total klutz- a fact which often creates interesting and/ or embarrassing situations.

I enjoyed reading this historical romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story about Vanessa and what she finds when she gets home. Her aunt by marriage is running the household and her guardian that used to stay in the background has now made his presence. What happens from here, you don;t want to miss. The characters are strong, relatable and have great growth throughout. I enjoyed watching what happens with their chemistry. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. A story that is engaging to the end. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book.
I have read a few books from this author and I love the way she tells stories. I read these books to my niece and she loves them as well. This book is a little more complex than her other kids books but it is still very good.
Lily, Jack, Audrey, and Nick all go to this amazing toy store. When they enter Mr. Barsins toy emporium is a brand new world. These kids are in shock at all the things this toy store has plus there are things you can even dream of like dragons and even mermaids. They are so excited but is this real or is it just their imagination?
This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up. I enjoy her writing style and attention to details that make her stories pop. This book is no different. This is a well written story that is hard to put down. The characters pulled you into the story from the start and kept me engaged to the end. They are connectable, strong characters that have great growth throughout which made the story easy to read. This is a story about saving a kingdom when the odds are against you. This is a story you don’t want to miss. It is fast paced and entertaining to read. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.

My niece and I like to read this author’s books. She likes that the pictures go very well with the book. They also learn about science in a fun way. This book takes you into outer space and I can’t wait to read another book from this author with my niece.

This is a refreshing YA novel with an alternative family unit and a young lady who isn’t picture perfect. The dialogue between the mother and daughter feels as if a teenager is speaking through the text. The plot pulls you in as a reader to find out what happens next. The angst of going through teenage years will have you following Stas on an emotional roller coaster ride. Finding your mother murdered and having your father as the suspect would be enough to drive anyone over the edge. Death, grief, pain, and loss full this story but so does love.

Ross is the fourth book in the Central Florida Stories series by Victoria Saccenti. Even though this is the fourth instalment in the series, it can be read as a standalone as each book in the series focuses on a different ‘couple’. This is a contemporary romantic suspense with DDLG dynamics (he’s a DD and she’s a Middle), tension, chemistry, pain, angst, danger, drama, agendas, mystery, action, and emotion. (Possible triggers of abuse and violence) For Ross, Hadley was always ‘the one who got away’. He’d secretly given her his heart but never thought he was good enough for her, to give her the future he thought she deserved. Now he hasn’t seen her in in the four years since she rode out of his life, so when she contacts him out of the blue, begging for help, his protective instincts kick in and he can’t refuse. Throw in Outlaw MC danger, drama, angst, and the DDLG dynamic and things certainly get interesting. Again, Victoria Saccenti developed her characters really well- crafting fully realised individuals with their own unique quirks and flaws. Both our MC’s have their own complexities, challenges, and pain- which adds an extra element of angsty tension, and plenty of emotion, to the whole story. The history between them that adds another layer to the story and gives them more depth, and a little vulnerability. I didn’t realise going into the story that there is a DDLG dynamic, as I am not a huge fan of that genre- but in saying that, the DDLG component of this story worked well. Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Saccenti does next. Happy Reading!

The Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson is an historical romance with a paranormal element, mystery, chemistry, family dynamics, drama, agendas, tension, and more. As with the other book of Ms. Woodson’s that I have read, this historical romance is written in keeping with the language, terminology, social norms, and styles (etc) of the era. Vanessa thought she knew what to expect when she finishes ‘school’. She’s excited to be going home, and eager to start her next on the next phase of her life. But thing get a bit complicated on her arrival home when she finds that not only is her guardian residing there, but some relatives have also moved in. Add a ghost, and some simmering chemistry to the complicated mix and things take an intriguing turn. I love Ms. Woodson’s story ideas and her attention to historical details- and her characters are always very interesting, so I am keen to see what she will do next.

Larkin, is the nephew of the Queen. He is a man who enjoys women but does not want the entanglement then a night in bed. As questions begin to arise about Lord Roger and his leadership is questioned everything changes and when he meets Anna his life takes a turn he was not expecting.
This was really good. I thought it was unpredictable and was really impressed with Anna’s character. Really well written had a little bit of everything I would expect from a book like this. Definitely reading the next chapter.

I was thrilled to return to Buckeye Falls for a fourth time! This is a book you can read as a standalone, but I absolutely recommend that you read the previous books in order first. We met Alice briefly in the third book in the series and she had definitely intrigued me. We got to see her through the eyes of her brother and sister-in-law, which was a bit skewed. Seeing Alice take the lead in this story was fantastic, we got to see how she thinks and feels about returning home and having to deal with all of the gossips and well meaning, but meddling people in her life. I loved her interactions with James and the chemistry they had right out of the gate, despite both of them trying to deny it. James was such a sweet and amazing guy for Alice and see them fumble through fake dating while they help plan the Fall Festival was adorable. This was a great addition to the Buckeye Falls series!

Camden is tasked by the same man who sent him on the first job to head to an island to get information on Lord Duskin and potentially find Resh and Nathan in the process. Plus revenge on the revenant that murdered him and his crew. After years of running away from his past, he once again takes on his original surname of Camden Callahan.
Annie, Lord Duskins adopted daughter, hates her job. She is tasked with researching patients with the rot and how the drug ‘pearl dust’ affects the people. She hates her life and her adopted family but obedience is better for survival. On top of that, she sees the ghosts of patients she has had a helping hand in sacrificing for research. When Annie meets Camden, she is quick to not trust him but when he offers her an out of this life, she accepts his partnership. The ghosts seem to become more corporeal as time goes on. Sometimes even helping her out. Is there something more to Annie than just being a mere mortal?
Camden is in over his head, there is much happening on this island and it’s hard to tell who is on which side. Who can he trust? Will his father catch wind of Cam resurfacing after all these years? Will they make it off the island?
This book was chalk full of adventure and had elements of magic, murder, ghosts,and pirates. It also delved into some darker themes like sacrifice, sexual assault, and suicidal thoughts. This book is not for the faint of heart. The characters have a lot of depth but are very relatable. I found myself connecting with Annie. She seems quiet and dark but she has a sweet side and wants to help those around her. Camden appears arrogant and full of himself but is actually full of self doubt and regret. I enjoyed getting to know these two.

Maeve O’Reilly Kensington is a midwife struggling with infertility who’s married to William. William has disappointed his family by opening a catering business instead of having a well-esteemed career like the rest of the family. They are desperately wanting to start a family but so far, it’s just not in the cards for them.
The wedding of the year is coming up soon and Will is hired to cater it. Everything must go as planned so that he doesn’t have to take out another loan and prove his family just how much of a failure he is. The bride’s father is the head of the Obstetrics unit where Maeve (rhymes with “brave) is employed. During the toast, Dr. Whitaker appears to be having a medical emergency and subsequently dies. Now everything that Will had planned to perfection is under a ton of scrutiny and his business may tank.
Maeve and her sister Meg begin to put together a variety of theories as to “whodunit”, against their brother Patrick’s better wishes. He desires for his sisters to let him do his job as a police officer and that they keep their day jobs as a midwife and realtor respectively. Not about to let a good situation pass by, Maeve and Meg do get involved and help to bring down the murderer.
First of all, I appreciate that this author has medical experience and that the terms and procedures described are done so accurately. That being said, a disclaimer should be issued for this book as it does have triggering issues for those who’ve experienced infertility or the loss of a child(ren). There are a few scenes that did not pertain to the overall solving the murder that could have been left out, however, they also give a “real-life” view into the role of a midwife. I did find the story engaging and appreciated the nice little twist at the end, although the murderer was pretty high on my list the whole time.

Mystical Midlife Mate: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel (Boudin, Barbecue, and Hoodoo) by Reggi Dupree

Reggie Dupree has created one of my favorite series. I’m obsessed with the characters and their stories. The main character is such a strong wonderful woman and so relatable. The fun way the character handles all the nonsense that happens to her is so amazing. I highly recommend all the books from this series.
This was a great second book in the series! I really enjoy this author’s writing style and the way her characters have so much sass. I definitely suggest reading the first book before jumping into this one. The characters pull you straight in just like the previous book and jump right into the story. Gwen is just as great in this story as the first. After how the first book ended I was excited to jump into this when it came out. Things get crazy in this one and there are some great plot twists. I really hope we get more stories from Hoodoo! I will be on the lookout for more from this author for sure.
This is the absolute most informative book I have ever read. I did not know much about nuclear weapons when I started this book and I picked it up because it sounded intriguing. This delivers on being a crash course into nuclear power. I was concerned at first about reading this because I was a little worried that it was going to be heavy or hard on technical terms. However, that is not the case. It is actually an easy read that gave me so much information. I feel much more knowledgeable about the history of nuclear weapons and I definitely feel like I have a much better understanding of them. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who is interested in finding out more about nuclear weapons. It was so well written and easy to read!

This is a standalone romantic suspense story in the Central Florida Stories, Club Nexus universe and the first book in the series I had read. Although I am now keen on reading the previous books as the characters and setting do crossover. Ross Michaels knew that Hadley Keller, with her innocent sweetness had his heart even if he knew she was never going to be his. He hadn’t seen her since she took off on the back of his younger brother’s motorcycle four years ago, and Ross now works at the members only Club Nexus. When he receives a letter from Hadley begging him to rescue her daughter from the outlaw MC they are both trapped in, he realises that she still has his heart. Ross is determined to not only rescue her daughter but also Hadley, especially once he sees her bruises and the helplessness in her eyes. The Daddy Dom in him also recognises that Hadley is a Middle and that she needs his help, however her experiences have left her traumatised. Ross also needs to keep her safe from the MC who want her back, and will do anything to silence her as she knows the MC’s secrets. This heartwarming and at times heartbreaking romance took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. I really felt for Hadley, and I liked how her relationship with Ross developed throughout the story and that their chemistry really came across in the narrative. The story contained DDLG dynamics which not everyone may enjoy, but it did add an extra element to the storyline and was part of Hadley and Ross’s relationship. An enjoyable and engaging read.

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance with a paranormal twist which kept me captivated throughout. As usual the authors descriptive narrative brought both the setting and the era vividly to life making me feel immersed in the story, and transported back in time especially with all the added historical details. The storyline focuses on Vanessa who on leaving ‘The Academy for Young Ladies’ is returning to her home, Hill House. However, she was not expecting her guardian to be residing in her home, or for her aunt by marriage to have taken charge of the household and moved her relatives in. Vanessa expected her guardian, Jacob, Earl of Danville to continue looking after her interests from afar, so is surprised to see him at Hill House. There is something about her handsome guardian which awakens Vanessa’s senses, and she doesn’t think that the attraction is just one sided. Meanwhile, more disturbing than her Aunt and her relatives living in the house, is the ghost which also appears to be living there and who fills her with dread and unease. I loved the main character, Vanessa and enjoyed how her relationship with her guardian developed throughout the story. The plot had plenty of drama, a hint of mystery, plenty of twists and turns, and of course romance, and even a paranormal element, all of which kept me hooked from start to finish.

5 Stars Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 2) by Laura Hawks
Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries Series and is a wonderfully written YA that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. This was the perfect book to read as the weather is cooling down. The characters are developed, creative and relatable. The storyline flowed so well there’s even a few twists that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure it out. I breezed right through it in on afternoon. Gumshoe is back at it again but this time she’s trying to solve the mystery before the fifteen-year-olds birthday party is ruined. Can they solve the mystery before it’s to late? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Reggie Dupree has out done herself. Mystical midlife mate is fill with all the characters you fell in love with in Return to Hoodoo (minus a witch that shall not be named) plus way more. While Gwen struggles with her new found powers her father makes his grand entrance . We find out more about Ash’s past and his closeness (or rather his lack of) with Gwen’s family . Gwen is reunited with those relatives, they shine a light on her past that has her questioning Ash. Dupree is one of my favorite authors so I might be bias, but her writing is so entertaining. Gwen’s wit to her humble downfalls make her such a relatable character even with her being the descendent of a fallen angel. Plus Dupree brings in a dose Greek mythology and biblical characters, putting them into a more modern setting. If you haven’t given the Hoodoo books a read you should. You’ll be entranced!

Before I start my review.You must stop and start with Cruel Start. It is very important to start at the beginning of the Phoenix and Aspens story. All because of an accident these two strong people have their whole lives changed. Memory loss, pregnancy and college. The ending will surprise your heart, that’s for sure. I love this story! The author leaves nothing out. I could not read fast enough. The very beginning gets your heart pumping and racing. This fast paced story keeps you entertained and your emotional rollercoaster at high speed. I could not put it down. Who needs sleep when you’re reading this story? Waiting for the next installment will be a challenge, but I can wait.

I liked this book but it was different from what I’ve usually read by this author. Usually multiple POV’s is good in my eyes but this book, didn’t have the same affect on me. I loved the story. I loved everything about Kate and Ben with their relationship. How they met, how they got together and everything about them. It seemed odd to have so much about Jenny and Josh. I get they were best friends with the Mc’s but I didn’t really care much about their drama 🙂 Kate and Ben had a fair amount of drama which some was caused by Kates insecurities and couldve been avoided but I loved the ending. This is one of my favorite authors to read so cannot wait for her next read.
